Went in for food, but they don't serve food anymore, asked for rexommendation for some where to eat and the bar lady was lovely and recommended another pub. Very polite and lovely to chat too.

Aggressive and rude young barman. The ale is usually good, especially the Landlord, but I won't return as the young man behind the bar pulled a very poor Guinness and refused my request to allow it to settle before finishing it, stating that "I'm from England" and aggressively remonstrating with me for asking for a decent pint. Breathtaking ignorance.

Great “traditional” town centre pub in the heart of Stamford. Very spacious outside area at the rear. Plenty of seething, sport on the tv’s and a dart board!

Heard a divorce happening in the smoking area. Said he was on dole. Brought a smile to my face. Added to experience. Bit of flavour. What you want in a boozer. Serves a mean pint of cobra too. Unique. Shows spoons up. Back this one to the end. Top quality. Will be back soon.

Went in here for a pint yesterday lunchtime and was immediately made to feel like an intruder. The landlady was talking to 2 or 3 customers who she obviously knew. Otherwise the place was empty and, from the landlady's attitude, that's how she wanted it to stay. Very unfriendly, very unwelcoming, only gets 1 star as 0 doesn't seem to be an option.

Great pub. No bull. It’s beer, red, white, spirits, crisps, peanuts. That’s it. Nice fire, good atmosphere. No pretentious stuff like a “wine list”. A proper pub. Decent large, covered heated smoking area with outdoor TV. Reasonable prices. 100% recommended.

Such a lovely pub. Friendly service, would defiantly go again. They were good at getting my details for track and trace as well as social distancing tables. Would 100% go again.

Nice drink, tables spaced out to allow social distancing, outside space for smoking. Not vigilante with getting people's contacts.

2 out of the 4 ales were like drinking vinegar. Landlord had to change his tampon when I told him.

At the very end of Broad Street this pub is a great place for a drink. They have a wide range of ales. Lots of seating. They have a separate area for the sports on television so if you not bothered by sport you can still enjoy a drink with just a hint of noise. There is an outside patio area which in the summer is cool. Great pub great punters.

Played with The Money Shot band. Packed with music fans and everyone was dancing, drinking and having fun. Awesome night.

OK if you are looking for Michelin stars ... move on ....BUT for great pub grub at very sensible prices and good real ale ... this is the place.

This was our first time at the Lord Burghley. Really friendly and the food was excellent which was washed down with a lovely Gin & Tonic, would be rude not to.

We visited this establishment whilst on a day trip to Stamford. The place is tastefully decorated and has a great beer garden to the rear (which comes with large brollies and heaters). Food is available at reasonable prices, and although we didn't participate, from the number of orders flying out of the kitchen, it appeared to be popular and plentiful. There is a good selection of bottled and draught beers and lagers. A great place to visit regardless of the time of year!

Close to the town centre, there are plenty of ales to choose from. There is a decent sized outdoor area with seating and, as well as the main bar area, there are numerous other lounges of various sizes indoors.

Always an excellent selection of real ales. Friendly atmosphere and pleasant welcoming staff. Good location.

A tad light on the decor .... but the beer is good ... and the pub grub OK ... the prices for the latter ... very reasonable indeed!!!!. This is the focal point for the anti-trendy in an otherwise ultra trendy Stamford!!! Give it a whirl Darlings!!

My husband wanted to call in due to a recommendation. It's huge inside - split into rooms. There is a good size beer garden and we met a fellow geordie who advised that we use the back gate as a shortcut to another pub we wanted to visit which saved us a longer walk. The prices are great and the atmosphere was friendly.

Called in for a couple of drinks when killing time and found the pub to be very tired and need in of serious loving care. Clearly a traditional "drinkers pub" but the regulars deserve better surroundings. The overall impression was one of neglect. The outdoor space was in need of a good clean and the gents toilet facilities were a step back in time, and smelt as if they had not been cleaned since the sixties. On a positive note they did have good selection of ales at fairly reasonable prices.

This is a great place to watch the rugby or football when a match is on - there are TVs in most of the rooms and they have a good choice of beers. No food though. Top tip - they have cheap beer on Weds evenings

Esta era la segunda pub que visitamos y disfrutamos\una pinta de propietario y la pinta de esb tanto excelente y a un precio muy razonable para dos cervezas normalmente caros. miré el menú y muy sorprendido de lo barato que era. Tenía puré de torta de carne y guisantes, generosas porciones y pastel de mejor y más grande que la mayoría de los otros lugares. cuesta £3. Precio 80 increíbles, esposa tenía una hamburguesa y patatas fritas igualmente buena y la factura era de £7. 70 para las 2 comidas. definitivamente volvería allí, pruébalo tú mismo.

El personal es genial. El pub en sí es grande, con una buena selección de cervezas. Un montón de espacio para comer, enorme jardín exterior.

Went in at lunchtime for the first time since 2014 and the change was both noticeable and welcome! Hope it's the same when I hope to visit Stamford again next April!

On my first visit to Stamford, I expected it to be a bit more traditional than it was, lots of loud bars, with loud people, flashing lights, drinks deals, etc. It was quite a relief to find this place. It had a decent amount of people in here, but they were all after having a nice drink, in a nice atmosphere.The staff were friendly, they had a nice selection of drinks and it was a nice place to sink a couple of pints. The beer garden looks pretty good, although the weather kept us indoors on this occasion.I'll bear this place in mind if I find myself back in the area.

I frequent this pub occasionally with friends. It is a friendly, welcoming venue which is popular with locals. There is live music played on most Saturdays.

Loud, bit of a working mans club which, is a shame because it's a lovely old pub. There was a 50th birthday party going on and lots of creepy drunk old men. Will not be going back and would not recommend unless you are a local then at a push.

A good place for a pint at the east end of Broad Street. It sells good beer and there was a nice atmosphere last time I was in when visiting Stamford. Good place to take a break when at the market on a Friday.

A real British pub with good beer and pub games like darts. None of this arty farty bistro rubbish that so many pubs seem to turning into nowadays. There is an undercover area for those who want to puff while they drink.

This is an excellent place for good quality food and drink and quite reasonable too.Customers are greeted by a huge real fire on entry and there are many different nooks and crannies at which to take a table. On the downside, was one of the two ladies serving behind the bar who seemed to object to me asking for a slice of lemon or lime in my coke. When paying, the same lady gave me my change and said "there you go" which unfortunately is quite common these days but it would have been much better if she had said a simple "thank you" so that I knew she appreciated my custom.

Nice Staff. Cheap Beer. Good garden. Shows rugby....what more could you want from a local pub in Stamford!

Visited with old school friends as part of our celebrating 40 years since we escaped from school. Good pub with a friendly atmosphere and a fine choice of ales including Timothy Taylor's Landlord. We raised our glasses to our late friend and former regular at the pub, Guy.

Visited on a night out round Stamford. This was a decent boozer, with a good range of beers. They have Sky, and a dart board !

The Lord Burghley is a typical town public house. There are several areas and thus plenty of room inside. The bar , though small, is well stocked and the staff friendly and polite. A good place for a drink when needed.

pub in town. Lost its way like so many old pubs with poor management style. Lovely old building with a garden with heaters and roller covers. Needs new injection of its old spirit

Called in on a Saturday lunchtime for a snack, menu not extensive and very reasonably priced, food was ok, and a selection of 5 beers. Staff friendly. Beer didnt quite taste right so asked for a change and this was no problem.
