The food here used to be great and very reasonably priced. Have not been for a few years due to covid, what a change we found. Prices gone up hugely and food nowhere near the quality it used to be. Our plates were half empty when presented to us, surely they could have put a few more chips on or a shovel of peas to make it look better.

Well done to John and the team for all the hard work in redecorating and deep cleaning the pub whilst in lockdown ready for it's reopening on 4 July. New opening hours - plus customers will find some changes re social distancing, these are all for the safety of customers and staff to make sure the pub stays open. Well worth a visit especially as eat in meals now up and running albeit you need to book table for evenings due to there being less tables plus there's still a take away service which Dave has brilliantly kept running all through the lockdown period

What a lovely local (to us) pub with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The dining area is limited to around four tables but if you book in advance you won't be disappointed. You can eat in the bar area but it is usually quite busy. The food is well presented, hot and tasty for a very reasonable price. The staff are lovely and look after you very well. Ate at the Swan two weeks ago and chose a Hunters Chicken. previously tried the steaks several times and they are brilliant! Is this just a pub steak joint or can it provide alternative dishes? The Hunters Chicken proved the point. Generous helping- excellently cooked - truly delicious. The large chicken breast was accompanied by a bacon wrap with a delicious sauce between the bacon and the chicken. The double fried chips and the salad added to an already excellent meal. I couldn't eat all the chips but very much enjoyed the salad. One day I will be empty enough to be able to tackle a dessert as well.

I live very close to The White Swan. I benefit from being able to visit on a Friday night after work, pop in on the weekend and even have a pit stop on my way to getting married at the village church! In this way, the pub serves its purpose well. But don't expect to see it on Pinterest anytime soon. The 'on-trend' country pub decorations of pretentious grey painted walls or hessian-type carpet are absent. Instead you are left with the actual character of this establishment. No pandering to fashion. It is a pub first and foremost, serving booze and food. The beer is great and food menu is populated with clear cut classics. All very reasonably priced. There is a garden for enjoying the summer sun as well as darts and a pool table.Worth visiting for a relaxing drink or meal.

If you like good real ale then the White Swan has always been well worth a visit. It's a traditional pub, the sort that is rapidly disappearing, nothing flash, no gimmicks, just good beer... and now good food! As usual, I tested it out with a steak and chips. This is of simplest meals imaginable yet one that very, very, few restaurants in the UK can cook properly. However, although the steak was a little too thin to be perfect, it was cooked pretty close to perfection, which is hardly surprising bearing in mind that the food is created and served by a family team originally from Zimbabwe, a country once rightly famed for the quality of it's steak dinners. My starter was Salt & Pepper Squid and I must admit I was a little taken aback when it arrived covered in breadcrumbs but, aside from having little in common with the classic S&P Squid, it was delicious! My wife had rang up in advance and the chef had agreed to create a "Slimming World" meal for her and her friend. Not only was this great service but the meal was superb judging by the length of time they spent afterwards trying to drag the recipe out of the chef. The service was friendly, prompt and good and the fact that everything was well priced and I was stuffed full afterwards is why I've gone for 5 stars.

Whilst visiting family in the village we decided at short notice to go out for a meal on the Saturday prior to xmas, We tried all the notable 'gastro' pubs in a 8 mile radius and all were fully booked, as a last resort before taking the 'Takeaway' option we called the White Swan and secured the last table for 4We are really glad we made that call, ok you dine at the 'pub' tables in what was the lounge bar (Snug) there is only room for about 16 people at any one time but that makes for a lovely 'cosy' atmosphere where conversation was easy and the staff (landlord and the chef/cook) were really welcoming and helpful taking time to explain menu optionsThe food was perfect freshly cooked with fresh local vegetables, no microwaved pre bought dishes and all at very reasonable pricesWe had a very pleasant evening with some excellent food, nothing fancy just good traditional pub grub well cooked and nicely presentedWe definitely will return, only hope that our experience doesn't mean that in the future we can't get in because it becomes too popular

Thinking of moving to the village and so we're trying out all the local places to eat and drink! The White Swan is your typical local pub with a good selection of beers on draught. I asked for a glass merlot which came in a miniature screw top bottle; I should have asked to see the menu in hindsight, although it was drinkable. The dinner menu was actually quite extensive, with more exotic choices (jerk chicken for a main) than you would normally expect to find in a small local pub. To sum it up, the food was nicely presented, hot and tasty, the service was friendly and our visit was good value. This is not a gastro pub if that's the sort of thing you're looking for, but you won't go hungry or thirsty and a visit won't break the bank.
