The Crown Hotel in South Kesteven

Was taken here for lunch, cannot fault it, food was delicious, staff very attentive and service was quick

Trip out to the Crown for dinner very disappointed especially because the burger I I had was over £20 expected more from the Crown the burger had no seasoning or taste to it very little chips served with it will not be going back .

My first thought on seeing this hotel was Oh dear! A busy pub on a busy road! True, but what a surprise. The interior was cosy, not too noisy or smelly (beer etc) & the rooms were quiet. Staff were all most helpful & cheery. There was secure parking behind the historic hotel. It is situated right at the heart of this incredible town, the UK's first World Heritage Site. We thought dinner prices were high until we received our excellent dishes. We were upstairs that were wide & shallow, so not too difficult for me. The bedroom was nice with very comfortable bed. I dropped 1 star as the room & bathroom were a fraction small. Breakfast was great. We will definitely stay there again.

Always the best Sunday lunch, with generous portion sizes and yummy food. A fantastic atmosphere, lovely location, would always recommend.

Beef Sunday lunch - not cheap but one of the best Great staff, food and wine = happy Similar to the Tobie Norris (same 'group') but just a little more grown up

Had Dinner, stayed the night and left after Breakfast. All the staff were excellent the food was much better than I was expecting and the room was really nice. We are already planning our next stay.

I don’t often write reviews, but on this occasion I can honestly say the staff, food and venue was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were keen to offer water for the table and allowing us time to select our choice of wines. Very attentive to our requirements - but most of all, hats off to the chefs. The fillet steaks were superb and chips to die for…! We all thoroughly enjoyed all the different meals ordered and no one was disappointed by their choices..Fab evening had by all. Thank you guys, see you again soon 😊

Ellie was an amazing member of staff she was very helpful on 2 consecutive days. She has an understanding of wine and how to recommend, she was very helpful, with nothing being too much trouble for her. Ellie should be highly commended for her service to patrons at the Crown. She is a credit to the establishment and should be acknowledged for her exceptional work.

Just had lunch at the Crown and it reminded me of why I don't go in there often. There is one member of staff who is so exceptionally curt and rude that it's a real deterrent. She was rude to me and my parents last time we visited, however this was a few years ago, so I hoped she had left. Unfortunately she's still there. I walked unaware into an area that they don't allow dogs and she she was so rude to me that I felt like crying. I will not be going back in the future. It's a shame as there are other members of staff there who are lovely. I get the feeling that she is a manager and if so she is setting an appalling example of customer service to the other lovely younger staff members.

I love the Crown, we had a family gathering. The service was excellent, atmosphere perfect and food had a great selection. I am plant based, they had a great selection and fantastic desserts. Possibly the best food of this kind i've had while eating out.

Had the most amazing stay at the crown hotel for the night last Saturday (8th June 24) for our wedding night. Didn’t spend a lot of time here due to here, due to get there late at night and check out at 10am, but wished I’d of spent more time in the beautiful, spacious room we stayed in. We had a massive bathroom with free standing bath and walk in shower. Was just the best room I’d ever stayed in, in a hotel and brilliant in my home town. The lady I checked in with in the morning was lovely, kind and helpful. Then the night porter who let us in gone midnight was very kind and helpful too. Even thought we live in Stamford we’ve never stayed but hopefully we can again in the future at some point.

A very Beautiful and Full of History and a very Relaxed Atmosphere. They have a very Lovely outside at the rear of the Hotel for visitors, customers and Hotel Guests. Very Good selection of different Wines, Beers and Cocktails. I Highly Recommend this Excellent Hotel a Must visit and sample it's very Welcoming Food and Beverages for the Clientle. Lovely hotel in the centre of town. Really atmospheric bar and lovely rooms in the Townhouse section of the hotel.

Rooms are expensive which reflects the area but overpriced for the quality of the cosy rooms in particular. Food was average but very expensive. Staff didn’t know the menu well and answered a question on the content of one of the menu items incorrectly. Drinks at the bar are also expensive.

Acoustics are poor in the main drinking area. Walk through to the cosy sitting area it's much better. Dining outside is very nice during the warmer days.

Arranged a meal and drinks with a family member here. Shocked to discover they don't take cash - not even for a pint of shandy which unbelievably was £6.25! Food was fine but again expensive. Not sure I'll return tbh. It's Stamford, not London.

Popped in for lunch today and some drinks to accompany. Was quite busy when we arrived, although they still had plenty of seating and tables available. Drinks service was spot on, and even changing a barrel on the Beavertown Neckoil didn't change that with the drink being brought over once ready. Top marks to the bar tender there. Meal choice was good with fairly quick delivery of the food. Meals were well prepared and tasty, so once again, there were no issues with this. Recommended for a visit if in the area.

Dog friendly restaurant area (can't say about the hotel as we only went for lunch). Outstanding service even during the end of a busy lunch rush. Great tasting food. No booking required.

Just returned from a one night stay at The Crown in Stamford and can't recommend it highly enough. So much so this will be the longest review I have ever written! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a gentleman with a lovely smile who showed us to the reception. The lady on reception was really welcoming also, explained how to access the car park (a huge plus in Stamford to have an onsite secure car park) and warmly checked us in, gave us a map of Stamford and then personally showed us to our room in the Townhouse across the road from the main building. The room was number 31 and was stunning! On walking in the room it was so inviting with stylish decor and furniture with lots of lovely touches, a wonderful 6ft bed, high quality toiletries and tea/coffee/hot chocolate were complimented by a delicious flapjack and a great bathroom with the best walk in shower ever. Everywhere was extremely clean and the bedding was crisp white cotton, a medium/firm mattress with fantastic pillows and duvet too. After unpacking we returned to tge bar and enjoyed a flat white coffee with a complimentary flapjack served by such a warm, friendly and welcoming gentleman who also served us at breakfast the following day. We had a super day exploring Stamford and the following morning was blown away by tge continued excellent service and incredible breakfast (high quality produce, beautifully presented and deliciously devoured). We enjoyed our stay so much that on checking out we booked to return again later in the year and have opted for a signature room in the main hotel as a surprise to look forward to. The lady checking us out was so helpful also, offering to check the prices for various days we were interested in booking, nothing was too much trouble? Thankyou all x hotel is clearly extremely popular with guests staying and also locals with the bar area always busy with customers enjoying the ambience and superb produce and service. There is an outside seating area also which would have been lovely in warmer weather with ample seating and an outside bar. Can't thank the team at The Crown enough and can't wait to return. Came here for Sunday lunch. Very tasty but over £20 for 2 slices of lamb hidden under a huge Yorkshire pudding is not my idea of value for money.

Wonderful hotel, perfectly placed in this lovely town. Rooms are stylish and comfortable, the feature baths worth every penny! Restaurant good too.

10 of us (6 adults 4 children) had lunch in the private dining room upstairs which was a really lovely space which gave the kids a bit more freedom and we could all relax. Lovely service and the food was spot on, thank you so much!!

Lovely place to stay in this beautiful town. Decided to eat at the hotel restaurant and had a lovely meal served by Orla. Very attentive and friendly waitress who looked after us and is a credit to the place.

Went for breakfast and was offered a wide range of avocado toast. Not only was the food delightful, but the customer service was excellent. I was served by Will, who continuously checked on me and my party. Thank you Will!

What a fantastic evening we had at the Crown with our extended family, nothing was too difficult and our waiter Jordan was utterly exceptional. He remembered all of our orders (11 diners) and didn't have to ask who was having which meal when he brought out the food. He was attentive and made sure we all had exactly what we had ordered and kept the drinks flowing. The Crown is one of the best places to eat in Stamford and we regularly come here and trust its reputation for service and quality. Keep up the good work and special thanks to our waiter for the whole evening, Jordan, for his attention to detail.

What a fabulous experience…we are in the recently redecorated restaurant ..and what a meal we all had! I had the chicken liver parfait starter…followed by the smoked haddock and prawn gratin …delicous! Such atmosphere too…The Crown has to be one of the best in Stamford! Can’t wait to return ….

Popped in with the doggie to celebrate my partners birthday. We like the Crown and atmosphere good and enjoyed the baguettes (beef and Tuna) for our lunch. One gripe though…..the young barman was more interested in speaking to his locals then serve my wife who was stood at the bar like a lemon. This made her feel like walking out, which we nearly did……so Mr or Mrs Manager; stress to your staff that waiting customers are more important than cosying up to the cronies at the bar 🤔

We had breakfast here on both mornings of our stay. Plenty of choice and quick and friendly service. On the second evening we decided to have dinner - we chose the burgers - my partner considers himself an expert - they were dreadful - dry and unappetising. And not cheap. And the evening was then further spoilt by a party of eight who were loud and in my opinion using inappropriate language - we left and went elsewhere for desert and drinks. We could hear their raucousness in the bar before they even got into the dining room. I complained about the food and the noise and the hotel removed the cost of the burgers from the overall bill. Which is to their credit. Perhaps the Manager on duty should have considered asking the party to be considerate of the other diners - or was no one prepared to do that?

Popped in for a quick midweek meal. It was a glorious evening, lovely sitting outside. Heat beer and wine, but sadly that was where it ended. My wife had fish and chips, which was ok. I had the beef ragu gnocchi, ragu was nice, gnocchi was awful. No one came and asked about how our meal was, we ended up leaving most and went on our way. It’s not what you would hope for as the Crown is not on the cheap end for Food.

As usual The Crown delivered fab food, great wines & excellent service! Plenty of choices, from snacks to meals...making it a great destination at any time!

Solid traditional pub is part of a small hotel in Stamford, opposite of All Saints Church. The cask selection is solid if unspectacular, the inside seating comfy and spacious (all leather-clad sofas and chairs). On the side you'll find a small outside seating area. I found the service attentive and friendly. Good option on a pub crawl in Stamford.

We went to Stamford for my birthday from 3 August to 5 August. The room was a lovely room at the front of the hotel. We found all the staff to be pleasant and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and when they learned it was my birthday I came back to find a bottle of sparkling wine and a card from the staff which was a lovely surprise.

Had a great afternoon tea at this fabulous hotel. Service was fantastic and the staff very friendly and helpful. Never had a bad meal at this lovely hotel in the centre of the town. Lovely atmosphere and really nice surroundings and furnishings.

What are they thinking ? Crab sandwich starter...£11...It was literally a slither of sandwich, barely a teaspoon of crab. We like having a coffee here the atmosphere is good and the staff pleasant BUT WHEN WHEN WHEN will they ever make a proper flat white ?? it is different every time we go.
