The Reindeer Inn in South Kesteven

Came just before 2 today (Sunday) to see a half empty pub and be told they couldn’t fit us in - 2 people!!! Outside seating completely empty - both sides of inside empty tables with no reserved signs. Bar staff said she would check but didn’t and came back saying I don’t think we can fit you in at all. Obviously don’t need the trade - don’t worry we won’t impose on you again.

We visited in order to celebrate my daughter's engagement - we chose this venue as it was half way between us in terms of travelling time, and we were not disappointed. We had to wait for two of our party, but the staff were quite flexible about this. The menu was extensive, and there were clear plates all round at the end - and all for a very reasonable price. Would definitely visit again!

Decent food & drink, and friendly helpful staff. Delicious hearty Lasagne, very tasty indeed... not sure I needed the side of chunky chips though. An all round enjoyable visit.

We have just finished an amazing afternoon tea experience for 3, a children's one, classic & gentleman's (a treat for our daughter finishing her 11+ exams). Everything & I mean everything was excellent quality, clearly prepared with thought & care. A fantastic local family pub, relaxed atmosphere, friendly attentive serving. What an absolute gem. I have rated this pub 5 out of a possible 5. In short I would advise a trip to this place. I had the ribs as the title of my review states. Mum and Dad paid which was ace - we did offer to pay but wasn’t allowed - aren’t they lovely.

Took the family out for Sunday dinner last month. Fantastic food, one of the best roast dinners I’ve had in a long time. Will go again.

So tonight 28th June. Was the first time I have been to The Reindeer. I was pleased to find I was allowed to take in my dog and sit for a meal.. The two you girls working behind the bar were lovely. When the food came out it looked great. But on tasting it, my eyes light up. The beef and veg pie was exceptional. Can honestly say the best pie I have ever had. Well done to the chef.. we will definitely be back again Many thanks

A party of 10, Generally excellent meals, however the vegan choices could be better, and the beef bourguignon left a lot to be desired on that particular day.

Very pleased with our meal at this great gastro pub. We ate on a Wednesday when it’s Steak night but there was plenty of choice across the menu. Friendly staff and atmosphere.

Excellent lunch (fish and chips) served by pleasant, attentive staff in a charming venue - so Five Stars all round! Thank you.

Nice warm welcome, food was ok but service was rotten. Staff busy doing not much, had to go without sauces as no one available to ask. The restaurant desperately needs a clean, huge cobwebs that have been there some time. Chef shouting from the kitchen wasn’t great. Could be a fab but needs work.

Nice pub, with friendly helpful staff. Wasn't able to eat on the day I visited as they were short staffed in the kitchen. I was walking the Viking way and only wanted a pint and a bowl of chips 😕

I’ve dined at the reindeer several times and have always enjoyed their food. For this reason I chose to book our New Year’s Day meal as I had family come up from down south. The service and food was delicious. I chose the roast beef and my 10 year old son had fish and chips. Decent portions at a reasonable price. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Shambles,don't no how to make a drink on the menu,food was just OK ,but not for the price,people around us still waiting for starters and we had finished,people next to us get served cold food and left it all!!!

Came here twice for lunch while on holiday and loved the food. Sunday lunch was beautiful and freshly prepared, with home made yorkshires, we had pork and it was gorgeous. Came again a couple of days later and had steak and ale pie and lasagne and both were fantastic. Best lasagne I’ve had in a long time.

Went for Sunday lunch.Food poor, cold and. not presented well Informed the waiting staff who apologised but seemed utterly disinterested. in our experience. We have had food there before and it was good but after todays experience we will think twice before we visit again

Always great service and can't fault the food at all

The front of house staff were welcoming, the chef accommodating after the steak came out well done instead of rare which was quickly rectified. Our first meal out since having a new born and it made for a great and relaxing experience, thanks for having us and being understanding. Also the burger was great quality and nice and thick and the steak (second time around) was superb 💪

Our first visit to The Reindeer tonight, 10th June 2023, as guests of a 60th birthday celebration. From walking in the front door to leaving at the end of the night it was a great experience. Very smart and tasteful decor, lovely serving staff and a great variety of meals served to the table and all thoroughly enjoyed. And a lovely village to boot. Highly recommended. (Price guide, if shown, is for my single main course)

Gorgeous Sunday dinner, the atmosphere was lovely, not too quiet nor too busy and the decor was beautiful, very rustic country vibes. We had three courses and drinks and it was a really reasonable price and the service staff were lovely! We will absolutely visit again.

The service was very good but sadly let down by an average menu and poor ingredients! The gammon lacked flavour with no crispy fat! The peas were tasteless and the egg minute and over cooked! The menu needs a serious upgrade, ingredients need to be fresh, and the chef needs to travel and see what’s available even locally l.

Stopped here for dinner on a Friday evening as part of a long journey on the A1M. Didn't book in advance, but they had space, the staff were lovely and the food was delicious. Thank you!

Went for a last minute meal at this restaurant, we’d heard it had improved as the reputation wasn’t very good in the past, but thought we’d give it a fresh go. For an old building and looks like it’s been modernised it was very sparse and cold looking lnside. The room wasn’t warm looking and we were plopped in the middle of the room on a table of 4 when there was tables of 2 available. The table was next to the kitchen/toilet entrance where all the noises from the fridges and clatter and chat wasn’t very inviting whilst eating our food. Asked the waitress to close the door and she did. The menu looked very varied so I went for the pie and my quest the burger. The pie was very nicely presented but that was it. The pot pie was tough and not easy to eat the greens and mash was ok gravy wasn’t the same as the pie so looked week and cheap instead of the pie gravy which looked nice. The burger came out very impressive but alas that was it as well. A big hunk of pressed meat with No flavour and very dry and tough to eat. No moist burger here. Won’t visit again and I suggest you all do the same it’s not worth the money. Wish we’d had a takeaway.

It used to be an absolutely fantastic restaurant with character and very snug. Alas it has been sanitised and is now modern without character. The interior is very smart and modern but not 'country'. The food is definitely average but the young staff are excellent. Pleasant and helpful and efficient.

By far the best Sunday dinner ive ever had

Very easy to divert to from the A1 and we used it as a lunch stop on the way up to Yorkshire and found it to be more of a restaurant than a pub. Two areas either side of the central bar which according to CAMRA’s Whatpub, and indeed historical photos, used to support three local real ales. But not for our visit, which found a limited beer selection with no real ales and Theakston Best on keg as the only available bitter. This is very much badged as a gastro pub and functioned more as a restaurant than pub on the experience of this visit. The food we experienced was very passable, especially as they had smaller plates ideal for a light lunch, and I wouldn’t hesitate to divert here again when looking for something to eat.

We went to their Wednesday steak night and it was absolutely delicious! Steak was beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection with a generous portion of chips and a tasty salad! I’m gluten free and they were great at checking everything for me so I didn’t miss out, we even got a warm gf brownie for pud! Lovely service and a great mid week treat. 10/10

We did the new year quiz which was brilliant. We had such a good night staff were brilliant and the atmosphere was great. We then had née years day dinner which was lovely. Thankyou to you all for a great time

One the best roast beef Sunday dinners I have had. Generous portions, the beef was really tender and lots of it. Nice puds and an excellent house Merlot, all served by pleasant, helpful staff. Reasonably priced for the quality. Going to recommend to friends and family.

Lovely relaxed pub, very clean and comfortable. We stopped in with a couple of muddy dogs. And sat outside in the sunshine. Staff helpful quick and friendly. Didnt mind two huge dogs. Food and drink was lovely lunch. In much need off after long dog walk. Would def return.

After reading the more recent reviews my expectations were a little on the low side before visiting for Sunday lunch. I'm so pleased to say the service and food were fantastic. Fresh, tasty and generous portions. The beef on the roast was so tender. Best I've experienced for quite some time. Big shout-out to the women behind the bar. You made us feel very welcome. The food was good; burger buns were a little too toasted for our liking but the desserts were very good. Service became very slow towards the end when we were the only customers remaining.

Nicely decorated, stopped in for Sunday lunch to break our journey home. Generous portions, but piled a bit high on the plate - didn't need the mash! Staff were helpful and friendly.

……..cauliflower was hard! Think they were having a bad day. Waiting 30 mins for the main course to arrive. Food was ok but cauliflower was rock hard which summed up the experience. Couldn’t wait to leave. I’m sure they usually do lot better in quality and service but we won’t be going back

It's been years since we came here, but thought we'd try it out after moving back to the area and we it was fabulous! The food was lovely with a good selection of vegetarian options and lovely non alcoholic gin. There was a nice atmosphere and the staff were really friendly

I see alot of people complaining about customer service, this has not been a problem at all. However I do believe that the people who complain are the problems themselves. Witnessed AS SOON as I walked through the door the most sarcastic bloke with a waitress. She's only doing her job. She handled that D*ckhead well 👏 Food was fantastic, chef done great with the steak.
