Place is filthy. Reason given by management was they were busy as they had a wedding. Nah the dirt was not 24 hours old it looked like someone had thrown up on the side of the bed. And I had booked a so called suite Would NOT recommend to anyone

My husband and I had the misfortune of staying here for one night. We were excited driving up to the hotel as it looks amazing! But our expectations went down a little when we went through the doors to find that the entrance hall, which could be stunning, was messy with a lot of rubbish on the floor including a banana skin from a wedding reception. Although I appreciate the rubbish was recent, it appeared as if they didn't have enough staff to clean up afterwards. Now, admittedly we didn't pay a lot for our room, so although disappointed, we weren't surprised that we weren't staying in the main house, but nothing prepared us for the state of the room we were put in in what was known as the courtyard! Firstly the entrance door to our building clearly used to have a swipe card entry system but that was no longer in use so door just left ajar. And once inside there was the immediate smell of mould which had tried, unsuccessfully, to be covered up by some sort of scent. Fortunately our actual room did not smell but there there was mould on the curtains, stains on the carpet and on the walls and by the morning the window was dripping with condensation. The bed was extremely uncomfortable as hard and gave me back ache for several days afterwards. The Furniture was old, cheap and tatty and the view from our window looked out over the car park and the bins. I can honestly say Travelodge would have seemed like luxury in comparison. The room's only saving grace was the modern, clean bathroom. I did go back to make a complaint to the mangager who seemed like a nice genuine guy who listened and apologised but unfortunately they had no other rooms to put us in. I got the feeling that he was mot personally to blame for the state of the rooms but that his hands were tied. He did knock off the price of breakfast on our bill. After a rough night we headed to the main house for breakfast which was held in the basement so no view. We were surprised as got told it was a buffer whereas all other hotels we had stayed at on our UK road trip had understandably abandoned buffet service due to Covid. There was also only one hand sanitizer so we, and others, were constantly waiting to use it after picking up utensils etc. Breakfast itself was ok, but lacked any fruit so not great if you wanted to be healthy. Overall it's such a shame rooms have been left to get into this state. A through clean, lick of paint and basic new furniture could solve the issues (except view) but instead they have been left to go to rack and ruin. The only reason I gave 2 stars and not one is because all the staff we encountered were polite and friendly.

We stayed for 2 nights in a courtyard room with our German shepherd dog, The windows could not be opened and we were given a fan which helped, but with it being so warm we had poor sleep and our dog was panting heavily throughout. The road from the main gate to the Hall has many potholes and need to be repaired as soon as possible. The TV was much too small as it was situated high on the wall quite far from the bed. The room needs a touch of paint and the water pressure from the sink taps was poor. The mattress on the bed needs replacing as it was lumpy and not very comfortable. The Hall itself is stunning and the grounds are fabulous and a credit to the groundsman who has done an amazing job maintaining them. The staff are really friendly and helpful and go out of their way to assist. They could possibly add one or 2 more as they seemed to be under quite a lot of pressure multi-tasking. The food was very good and we even received complimentary drinks for being kept waiting for dinner on the first night. The golf course which has wonderful views was a really tough challenge and definitely suits the longer hitters. Overall there is room for improvement but we look forward to returning next year and hope that some upgrading has taken place. A big thank you to all the staff for making us feel so welcome.

Was due to stay here in 2020 for a wedding which got cancelled then rearranged for 2021, the venue transferred the booking no problems but after the wedding was cancelled we decided to use it as a weekend away. The venue for a potential wedding is stunning. The staff are great helpful if a little over stretched, they could do with more help. Our rooms were in the stable courtyard I have to say for a modern ‘standard room’ it was poor but cheap, so much so we asked to be upgraded but they were full so had to lump it. The food, evening meal and breakfast was ok we’ve had worse so no complaints there. Over not a bad stay, the venue is looking a bit tired and dated sadly looking at some of the reviews from 2018 there are similar comments . Anyone would think it’s owners wanted to run it down deliberately, the building and the staff deserve better!

My husband and I went to revive old memories. As I trained here many years ago. We were not disappointed. The building is not in the best of conditions but you can see it is being restored to its former glory. The staff were wonderful and could not do enough for us. The grounds are lovely and being restored as well. The food was cooked to perfection and served beautifully. We have had a fabulous weekend and would like to thank everyone at the hotel.

The grounds are stunning as is the decor alike . There is wildlife surrounding the grounds adding to a more beautiful stay . The menu was amazing and very plentiful to cater for all dietary needs. Portions were ample and the dishes divine. Presentation was something else. Staff go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay and are very welcoming from the onset . We are already planning a return visit .

Terrible “Fairyland in New York” themed Xmas night. Such a huge disappointment in comparison to the year before which was the The Greatest Showman. Stuffed into some cheap sh1tty Porter Cabin style building, which was not in the main building. Cramped into a small room. Evening started at 7:30pm. 9:30pm we were still waiting for the main course. Bar sold out of many drinks, entertainment was soooo poor and no where near as good as the previous year. Totally mis-sold, huge disappointment in comparison to last year. Would not recommend and will not be booking for next year, which is a huge shame given the year before and how great it was.

Gardens and grounds are magnificent so very disappointed to enter the hotel through what looked like the staff entrance. The receptionist was charming and directed us to a manor room. The public areas were very dirty and the lift was like being in a very slow moving coffin. Our room was large and pleasant but again the housekeeping was very poor. We made our way to the bar and a member of staff finally arrived and again we were pleasantly served. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was the a la carte menu which unfortunately was not available in the ‘pop up’ restaurant on the ground floor. The dinner was adequate but that is that can be said. Breakfast was served in the main restaurant downstairs and again was poor quality. After a short walk around the beautifully tended grounds we checked out. The hotel only deserved one star but the extra star was for the staff and gardens.

There was no choices of coffee and tea - 1 option of each. The coffee was undrinkable and had to be sent back (did'nt even smell of coffee). The tea not much better. The ingredients were all cheap and below par. no scones with jam fresh cream at all. victoria sponge layer cake had a hard butter cream and 3 out of 4 of us couldn't eat it, not light and soft but hard and dry the 'trifle' had un-tasting jelly and tinned custard, thin and runny the lemon parfait was runny the brownie was cheap and claggy in the mouth the sandwiches were 4 tiny fingers hardly filled, the ham was cheap processed, not carved the best was a shop bought carrot cake - 1" tiny square but was palatable what a shame, The 4 of us were there for a belated mothers day treat and the poor quality ruined the day out as we had traveled 50 miles to get there and made a day of it. the manager was lovely and accepted that it was massively below par and was working to improve standards - i do hope so as the surroundings were lovely. no refund / remuneration was offered, only a better quality cup of coffee, which was already included! I've had a number of afternoon teas and this, in no way, compared to the quality of Coombe Abbey's!! so disappointed!

Where do I start.. we booked our stay as a luxury spa and golf stay, only to be told there was no spa facilities. We then went for lunch and the only food available was a sandwich. We opted for smoked salmon and cream cheese. At £9 you would at least expect fresh bread.. how wrong were we! The building and grounds are stunning but the inside of the hotel is disgusting, the service is awful and the staff are rude and obnoxious. They certainly have alot to learn about managing customer expectations. As a facilities manager myself, I would be embarrassed to be associated with the hotel and the rudeness of the staff. One of which mutterered 'just f*** off' when walking away from the receptionist when we were queuing to check in. Rochford Hall has huge potential and is a truly stunning building but unfortunately it is lacking in the love, attention and investment that is so badly needs.. In a nut shell.. Faulty Towers!!

I had booked Sunday Lunch here with my Mum and was expecting great things. How wrong could I be? Driving down the long driveway, greeted by a beautiful building, I was looking forward to getting inside. Once inside, there was no one to be seen and as this was my first visit I didn't know where to go. I found the badly signposted reception area but no one was there. I waited a few minutes and still no one arrived so made my way back to the entrance area. A young lady appeared who duly took our name and showed us to our table. As I looked down at my seat, it was covered in crumbs so I had to brush them off onto the carpet. The menu wasn't huge but sometimes less is more. I ordered the smoked salmon which was lovely but only enough to feed a sparrow! My Mum had a huge wedge of brie. We were not offered a bread roll to eat with our starters but these were clearly not on offer to anyone as there were no side plates on any table! The main course was roast beef which was really nice, tender meat and plenty of it but not many vegetables. Gravy was already poured on the plate but it was miniscule. We asked for another jug which took a while to arrive. Dessert was OK, nothing special. Once we had eaten we went to the bar to pay our bill and then the fun started. We had a voucher to be used but the young girl behind the bar could not work out how to charge us for our meal taking the price of the voucher off. Even after she asked her manager, she still didn't understand. We were waiting to pay for about 25 minutes meanwhile there was a gentleman stood at the bar waiting to be served all this time too.The waiting staff were pleasant although they never smiled or engaged in conversation, almost like they didn't want to be there and it was a chore. The young waitress was wearing a skirt so short that her 'utility belt' was almost longer than the skirt!Would I visit again? Absolutely no chance! It was a shocking experience and one I wish never to repeat again.

My wife and I took my parents to Stoke Rockford hall for Sunday lunch. There was a wedding fair on, which meant that the dining room became a focus for numerous spectators. We ordered four roast beef dinners. The beef was on the chewy side and only lukewarm. We could have each done with steak knives, not just for the beef, but mainly for the veg, which were cold and uncooked. Great if you like your veg that way, but not good if you prefer them at least lightly boiled or steamed. Aunt Bessie made her contribution with the usual, quite average Yorkshire pudding, which was used as the measuring hug for the gravy. Dessert was a little better, but then as they were all cold, even I could have served them up! They did give us the drinks for free, but we would not want to repeat the experience there, so will give it a miss and would rather visit one of the chain restaurants for a better meal and better service. Incidentally, had never connected Cinzano and lemonade with gin, which is what they called my mums drink...seems they had never heard of it, so she asked for Martini and lemonade, which came as two separate drink. This place is really missing a trick. With some enthusiasm and attention to detail, this could become a gold mine.

Service at breakfast ok. We ate one night in the restaurant lovely food!!. Have to say if bar prices were better we would have stayed all night. The bar staff were hardly there and seemed like every time I ordered a glass of wine the barman would have to go and get another bottle! Crazy this is as I've worked a bar. The show was in a marquee adjacent to the main building, unfortunately our table was to the side and behind the stage so all we could see was the rear of the acts and the speakers were all directed away from us so that spoiled the show. Additionally we were sitting close to the exterior glass and it was absolutely freezing, couldn't stay in the marquee for the evening due to the cold so we left right after the meal. Our bedroom was OK but quite a few niggles need fixing, flooring coming apart in the bathroom, windows not sealing and a cold noisy draft blowing in, no heating on when we arrived so again the room was freezing and we had to leave it for several hours to warm up. On the good side the bar was OK and the breakfast reasonable. Don't think we will rush back.

We were squeezed on a long table where people could barely get their cutlery up to their mouths, this served a dual purpose whilst helping us keep warm being huddled together it also meant it stopped us putting the disgusting food they served into our mouths too quickly(cold& tasteless). The entertainment was shambolic, the free bar saved the night with people making their own entertainment after a few drinks.Very poor value for money, Stoke Rochford get your act together!!!!

We visited for a surprise 90th birthday, afternoon tea celebration today. Having visited a few years ago we had high hopes but we left very disappointed. We asked staff 3 times for a high chair for our little boy and never got one, the tea and coffee arrived after we’d eaten the dry sandwiches with no drink, the cakes and scones were tasty enough but there was so much gap between the cakes and then scones that we were nearly ready to leave and then the scones were served! When we came to change our little boys nappy we couldn’t find any nappy change facilities or any staff to ask where any were so we ended up changing him in the corridor!Overall, not an experience I’d ever want to do again or recommend to anyone else! It’s such a shame as when we’ve visited years ago and had good service and food, it was such a lovely place to visit but has clearly gone downhill since.

Rarely have I eaten steak that is so tender and cooked to perfection with an excellent sauce. The starters were very good, especially the tempura prawns and pate. The lemon posset had a good lemon taste but was a little runny. Serving staff were helpful and unfussy.

A group of 20 family members attended a wedding in sept 18 at Stoke Rochford Hall.Grantham.Lincs and we’re booked in rooms in the old stable courtyard. The rooms were quite small and very scruffy..not very clean..coffee cups not changed..bed not made or cleaned..in fact the room hadn’t been cleaned prior to us going in as we found rubbish on the floor..bathroom was absolutely filthy..We had a paraplegic in a wheelchair with us who had no access to the front of hotel..No ramp just steps..not on..the only access was round the back of hotel(so if raining he got wet) or through kitchen area..again not satisfactory..there is no access at all from the orangery to the garden because of steps so again go round back of hotel and onto grass which has a slope and steep step with no ramp so not negotiable..Drains in the wet room did not empty so flooded the floor. We were told by a staff member that there was a lift for wheelchairs at front of house but has been broken for 6 YEARS..in this day and age with Equal Rights WHY has this not been fixed..So,if you are disabled and use a wheelchair avoid staying at Stoke Rochford

We stayed at the hotel with a BuyaGift voucher on a Thursday and Friday night in September. We had seen a number of very negative reviews that almost put us off, but I think some of these are very unfair reviews based on our experience. On arriving at the hotel (even in the rain), it has beautiful grounds and a stunning drive up to the main house. Although there are a few deep pot holes in the drive, it is easy enough to maneuver around them. We were greeted by a lovely young lady on main reception who gave us all our room details and explained how to reach the room. On arriving at the room in the courtyard, it was quite dark although it may be because the blinds had been left down. The room and bathroom were clean. There was a chunk of wall missing from the behind the doorway and also a lot of dust sitting on the ceiling fan and on the taller window ledges, which would put me off turning the fan on in the hotter weather! However, the amenities in the room were fine for what we paid. We decided to have dinner offsite on the first night, and in all honesty I am quite glad as the second night we had dinner at the hotel and it was awful. We could only get a table for 8:15pm (which was our own fault as we made the reservation quite late), however when we arrived at around 8pm there were a number of tables that were empty so we probably could have got down to dinner earlier than this. We each had a lovely starter which was served promptly, but after this we waited over 45 minutes for 2 steaks, and when they did arrive they were not cooked the way we had asked and looked as though it had been thrown on a plate, with a few chunky chips and a handful of burnt mushrooms. By this time it was almost 9:45pm so we didn't bother complaining at the time, however when we checked out they did resolve this for us which was unexpected.During our stay, we also used the leisure facilities, which I would not recommend to anyone during their visit. The pool is in a strange hangar about a 5 minute walk up the hill from the main hall, and it was very dated. The whole roof is covered in green mould/algae, as is the bottom of the swimming pool. We only briefly swum in the pool as this was very off-putting, as well as the fact that all of the tiles around the pool were covered in the same green sludge.Although there are a few bits I have mentioned that were in need of some work, the main hall and the grounds are absolutely stunning, the bar is great with wonderful views of the formal gardens, and the staff at the hotel were very polite and helpful. I don't think we would stay here again based on the above issues, but if these were resolved it would be an absolutely incredible hotel.

Certainly the building and gardens are beautiful, and the staff are lovely. * However, the promised included lunch of soup on day 1 completley failed to arrive (we think the chef did too!) and as I dont eat bread there was no lunch for me!* Our room in the stable block was not the promised double, and though they kindly upgraded us to the mansion, we were on the 2nd floor and the lift was not working. This proved to be a problem some days, let alone carrying the case up! On the way up from breakfast in the basement to clean teeth, we had to face three flights, and i do not do well on stairs with my back.* Also out of order was the jacuzzi, which meant half our party didn't bother with the pool at all.* Despite beer being included in the deal the only ale tap was 'off and empty' which left the three guys in our party dissapointed*Our three lamb shanks on evening 2 were, to put it mildly, inedible. They had been cooked way too quickly and were virtually impossible to get off the bone. The waitress noticed that none of us had eaten, but no-one came back to apologise.Having said all that, we had fun, breakfast was great, dinner of beef on our first night was lovely, but i feel we didnt get the value we had been promised. The deal was certainly more than many that been on offer, but promised inclusive lunches, spa and beer, none of which materialised.

I had read mixed reviews about the afternoon tea at Stoke Rochford Hall but went with an open mind. The location and setting are beautiful. The driveway needs some repairs though! The building is very grand but definitely in need of some tlc. The tea itself was served in a nice room overlooking the gardens which despite the rain were lovely to look at. There was a good selection of savoury and sweet treats served on a slate board. Sadly the sandwiches were dry. I don’t know if the cakes are homemade but they didn’t really look or taste it.

Room is shocking were in the smallest room in the stables it's so hot no air con. Small window. No Windies open in.main building as large sash windows that are painted shut or the sash levers are broken...good help us if they have a fire.no air con or fans in main building can't breath it's stifling.

Things didn't seem to be going well when we arrived at the hall. People had been kept waiting 40 minutes for their booked afternoon tea. There wasn't any apologies or explanations and the dining room was quiet with only 2 tables occupied. I heard one of the diners complaining about the wait being unacceptable and in leaving another couple complaining that it wasn't as they expected. They were waiting for the manager to speak to them about compensation.

We had booked using Buyagift vouchers but were treated very well by the Reception and other staff as if we had paid the full price. Everyone was very friendly and the hall is beautiful. On our first evening we explored the gardens and extensive grounds and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Breakfast was excellent and we have no complaints at all. A lovely break.

After reading some of the reviews by others my wife, I and my Brother-in-law and his wife travelled with some trepidation. Upon arriving and viewing the hall from the drive, we were not disappointed. The reception staff were friendly and courteous, our rooms were very clean and presentable ( my Brother in laws room could have held a tea dance in). The food was excellent and again the staff were friendly and attentive. The gardens are lovely to walk round. thank you to Stoke Rochford Hall and to Great Little Breaks, the all inclusive break was well worth it. We would happily return for another visit.

The view driving up was spectacular we were here for afternoon tea and it didn't disappoint although my only criticism would be not enough savoury food with only 3/4 of a sandwich each and a teeny tiny roll. That said there were many cakes and they were very nice. when we finished went went for a walk around. The toilets are starting to look very dated. We walked outside in the grounds and they were really beautiful and very well kept.

No idea why this hotel is in the premier collection! Outside the grounds are wonderful however the hotel is falling to bits. We stayed in the Woodland Lodge and the room is in desperate need of renovation. There was a hole on the bathroom door, a missing shelf, mould on the tiles and the room was very tired. The main hotel again is very run down throughout. Customer service was in some instances really good for example a lady brought some crockery and cutlery to our room however on the first night it took almost an hour to get a bar meal. Breakfast was ok although on the first day we sat in the dark until a staff member noticed and put the lights on. Didn’t have breakfast the following day. The spa is disgusting with a filthy pool, a broken jacuzzi and tired saunas. The changing rooms were also very dirty. Such a shame as the hotel could be amazing but it’s well past it’s sell by date. You have to pay a service charge to clean the room after pets however no idea why as the rooms are grufted. Lovely touch with the dog towel and bowls, the towel was however cleaner than ours.

The breakfast was adequate but not brilliant the only good thing I can say about it are the grounds which are beautiful .

We were amazed at how beautiful the hotel was as we drove up but everything changed when we got inside. We had arranged to meet here for a family lunch and when booking the table for 12 people were asked if it was a celebration which it was. We couldn't believe it when we were told that the only food available was bar snacks, even though we were eating in the restaurant. The sandwiches and ceasar salads were only average when they arrived after about an hour. We won't be returning.

Superb first impressions when you see the hotel absolutely stunning ,on entering you feel like a lord it truly is impressive . Hotel reception staff friendly but not what I call really welcoming . There was no information about the hotel which must be steeped in history ,shame. A wedding was being held which really limits you as you are restricted as to parts of the gardens were off limits .it was a lovely warm day but nowhere to sit .it seems weddings take preference here ,impossible to relax in the bar because of wedding guests ,surely weddings and hotel guests should be separate... But then we come to the bar what a joke NO BITTER only bottled beer and as for some of the bar staff . When I asked another guest if he knew of Local pub which sold beer a member of staff sarcastcly said end of drive turn right 50yards you can walk it .it was 3miles yuk .bad management and no staff training food was very good .room ok awful bathroom on the whole good weekend spoiled by certain members of staff not up to Best Western standards by a country mile

We knew at the time of booking that we were going to be staying in The Stable Courtyard, we entered the room and the first thing we noticed was stains or runs going down the wall it looked very unsightly there was a a half window very high up and a skylight which was underneath a very big tree so lots of rain stains leaves and birds mess it was very small and a bit dreary but we dont like to make a fuss and on the whole it was clean with white bed linen and soft white towels. My parents were in a room along the corridor and when i went to see how they were settling in they noticed they had no roller blind at their skylight no chair and no telephone, there was a member of staff on the landing who asked if everything was ok so my mum pointed out the problems he was very nice and they moved to a nicer room immediately he offered us a move too but to be honest we had un packed our things and for the sake of a couple of nights stayed put.We slept well and were quite comfortable, the breakfast was very nice with lots of choice. The swimming pool was very tired but again the pool itself was clean enough as were the changing rooms. The staff were very pleasant. I think I would stay here again but maybe not in the room we had.
