It's convenient to stop off here when travelling between Sheffield and Lincolnshire. Food is okay, and it's quick and close to the bypass.

The best carvery I've been to so far. Food is delicious. Atmosphere fab and staff very friendly and helpful. I would say if you go on a Sunday to book in advance, as it is so popular. 💯 % recommend 👌

Popped into the Lockkeeper while I was on a walk down the canal with the family and was pleasantly surprised at the service and speed at which the food came out, tried the katsu chicken burger which was lovely, all round brilliant experience, will definitely be returning soon

We went today 9th February 2025 .it was absolute disgusting had the Sunday carvery and the gammon was like cutting through flesh .never going back again

I had loaded fries "sharer" £9.99 serves two adults, I don't think so !! When it arrived it was on a tin plate around 2/3 size of a regular dinner plate, don't get me wrong it was tasty, just a very small amount of food and to describe it as a sharer is very imaginative, if I had to share this with the wife we'd be falling out. 😉

This hotel/motel appears to have an overstretched team, with staff multitasking across various roles, even during obvious quiet periods. On arrival, I witnessed another guest complaining about receiving a double, when they'd booked a twin. The two staff members handling that situation then left with the guest, saying they would return soon. After waiting for some minutes before I was eventually checked in by the bar staff. Finding my room was initially confusing, as the signage only indicats first-floor room numbers, and direction to the second floor rooms. I considered exiting the building to look for another entrance but eventually located the stairs, after initially heading in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, when I entered my room, I discovered it was already occupied, with a guest on the bed and their belongings and luggage all over the floor. It is concerning how their system can issue a key to a room that was already in use! and it raised serious doubts about security. I raised my concerns with the staff, who didn’t seem particularly bothered, and then gave me a twin room instread of the double room I booked (had to check the booking to find this out!). The Peroni I ordered had an odd taste, as though the pipes hadn’t been cleaned recently. When ordering food by table number, the staff were unsure of my table, and before even placing my order, I was mistakenly given someone else’s meal. Concerned about food quality, I opted for fish and chips, but the fish was overcooked, and the batter was burnt. This is not good value for money, and I chose to dine at the Milehouse pub up the road for my second night. I mentioned being given an occupied room to the only staff member in the morning, who acknowledged the issue and offered me a complimentary breakfast, which I appreciated. In the room, there was a odour of stale cigarette smoke. Additionally, in multiple occassions I noticed a man in a high-visibility jacket sitting in a van with the engine running. I assume this is security, though it was unclear why he was stationed outside rather than inside the building. A more serious issue arose with the bathroom. Whist sitting on the toilet, I realised my clean socks were getting wet from wastewater leaking across the floor from the pedestal. Unfortunately my clean socks and underwear got wet, and I had to use a towel to prevent the waste water from soaking into the carpet. I raised the problem with the staff member at breakfast, who didn’t seem particularly bothered who flippantly said "I'll get that sorted for ya". While this hotel is relatively inexpensive, I would prefer to stay somewhere that feels safer, more organised, and offers better food and drink. Based on this experience, I will not be rebooking for my future 2025 stays in Worksop.

Our party of 7 arrived to find our booking had not been recognised ,our table was not set and our meals were below satisfactory. My personal meal of gammon was not thoroughly cooked , another meal of steak was well over cooked. Overall disappionting all round.

We went to the lock keeper to meet friends & have a carvery. The staff were very friendly & welcoming, service at the bar was fast & efficient and the food was beautiful especially the Yorkshire puddings !!

This was a very disappointing experience. The staff were not very friendly or welcoming and the food was mediocre. Don't be tempted by the carvery because it is dire. We have been to different Marston outlets and have been satisfied with everything but this particular one does not match them.

Came for a birthday party and it was lovely the food was amazing and Paige was very helpfull and efficient well done

The carvery were delicious. Everything about it. The sticky toffee pud were the best I've ever tasted. Were served by Alisha. She were very helpful when discussing allergens and very helpful and polite. Definitely were service with a smile. I will be returning. Thank you.

The young man behind the carvery couldn't have been more accommodating, helpful and polite. The food was good, the staff friendly and the atmosphere was great. On a separate note, I apologise for the mess we left.

We were delighted that we were able to make a last minute booking for a large family gathering (27 people in total) on new year's day! Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful and the food was good and venue relaxed and family friendly. (The indoor and outdoor play areas were a hit with the littlest children). It's not glamorous, distinctive or an especially attractive interior but it's a decent family friendly pub. Most of us had carvery, which we enjoyed. Only minor issue was they seemed to be quite short staffed so there were queues for the bar and carvery, but once served all was great. We will very likely return as it's a great midpoint location for our extended family. Thanks and Happy New Year to the team.

Food was terrible definitely not cooked and prepared by a chef, 2 mixed grills 1x medium & 1x well done when presented unfortunately the waitress didn’t know which was which and had to return to the kitchen to confirm, in comparison there was no difference, had I had not already drank bottle of alcoholic drink & time I would have drove somewhere else for food, this also confirmed our decision not to have breakfast the next morning. On a note, we chose the lockkeeper based upon our local marstons(The Spead Eagle Gailey) to which in the past I have booked the meeting rooms with the food and service being served acceptable I realise that the stay was during a busy holiday period, but standards should not slip.

Lovely experience Had the Christmas festive meal with family. Table decorated nice. Staff very helpful and friendly. Kids happy playing in the play area.

We came Friday 27th December. Stayed in the Hotel adjacent. Brilliant carvery. Great service. And a decent pint of beer. Not very busy so a nice atmosphere

Dreadful booked family of 18 for Boxing Day, 0 Service, Terrible food turns out the set menus are Carvery and help yourself, Management couldn't care less about us being extremely unhappy. They got orders wrong even the most simple ones. I have honestly never had an experience when eating out this bad and would never normally give a 1 Star review if it could be given a 0 I would. AVOID

It's a nice place, adequate for a bed for a few nights,and a spot of lunch, Evening meal wouldn't suit me as there is a children's play area inside and dogs are allowed. Prices I felt were a little pricey for what they were offering, Breakfast continental choice was good value and adequate

Had a brilliant visit to the lockkeeper today, all the staff were friendly and made us feel right at home for our entire stay. We had a carvery and it was brilliant. Cavary isn't as hot as it could be it was Luke warm last time we had one. The food that comes from the kitchen is piping hot and menu choices are seasonal. Friendly staff team .

Lovely warm pub , stayed in their accomodation .Clean warm rooms, great comfy bed and pillows were just right for me. Would stay again.

Booked a table for mother's day had a friendly warm welcome the atmosphere was lively but well managed. The food quality was absolutely delicious and the standard didn't slip with how many people was there. Time on food was excellent didn't have to wait very long to me seen. All staff was extremely friends and bent over backward for our table.

Initially seated in the area adjacent to the indoor play area. It's great that they have this facility if you have kids in your party, we didn't, and it was loud. Great staff allowed us to swap tables though, all staff were super friendly and helpful.

Called at the lock keeper today for lunch and as always wasn't disappointed. The food was excellent and the service was faultless. I was greeted at the bar by Alisha and felt welcomed she was very knowledgeable and professional she took our order and within no time the food was ready. Very happy and will be returning very soon 😁.

We had a family function here for 23 people requiring Starters, Mains and Deserts. The waiting staff managed by Sam were excellent - they were quick, efficient and nothing was too much trouble for them. The quality of meats on offer was exceptional and along with an astounding choice of vegetables and Yorkshire puddings (to die for) were prepared and served well by Kaine. We will certainly return.

Carvery had really old tough meat. I emailed the manager who basically called me a liar. I went in on Veterans Day to celebrate alone and took the food to go, to later find the meat was old, hard, and inedible. I went back the next day and received a refund; without a smile, a hello, or nothing! How about we’re really sorry, here’s your refund, would you like to try something on the menu free of charge. No way! Customer Service sucks!

Had carvery absolutely vile meat as dry as a bone and roast potatoes drowned in fat vegetables either hard or cold won’t be going again and not the cheapest of places , drinks very expensive

We usually don't visit on a Sunday as it's so busy but with my mum over from Wales we thought we would treat her to our favourite carvery. As always, the staff were super friendly and helpful. First time ordering from the table using the app too and that was really seamless. Most importantly, my mum loved it too and wants to visit again next time she is in town. Keep up the great work!

Lovely little place at the side of a canal lock, hence the name of the place. Food is always on point and the staff are always happy to help with smiles on their faces

Order a carvery, I'm vegetarian so didnt order the meat (obviously) same price as with the meat.. got an extra Yorkshire! Selection was poor and had been sitting for a while and no potatoes which were promised to come to the table and never appeared. Meal went cold very quickly and wasn't that enjoyable!

Lockkeep Lodge is an amazing place with great facilities and ideal walking distance for all amenities. Beautiful canal walks too! Cannot fault the location and staff, all brilliant; staff always go above and beyond expectations, always friendly. Well worth a stay here.

An absolutely fabulous place to stay. I stayed over a weekend. The hotel is very clean and tidy and welcoming. The breakfast menu is extensive and the carvery is wonderful and very popular so I'd advise booking . Very good value for money and convenient for everything. 5 stars from me

Visited with family 1st Nov with family to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary . My wife and I ordered the rump steak , to be cooked medium ! We waited a long time for our food to arrive , understandable as they were busy , but it arrived Luke warm and very undercooked . Mine was almost rare , which I don’t mind , but it was very tough , and the wife’s was almost raw , which she wasted . The only thing on the plate that was piping hot were the chips ! Very disappointed because we have had some decent food previously .

Came in for breakfast and once again thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Paige served us and the food was made by chrissy, absolutely beautiful.

Visited today 'Saturday' 0900 breakfast Not had breakfast there for a while. Very dissatisfied why has it been changed to ordering from menue and staff bring food to you. With limited choice change food you do not eat. Far better to be able to chose yourself. To chose what you like. As has always been the case. One member of staff on duty had to continually inform her. Need milk, need bread, no plates for toast, need more butter. Waited over half hour for food even though only 3 tables. One table 20min near us untill it was cleared. Listening to other customers we not the only ones not happy. I realise all the changes are for the companies convenience and to save money with little to no thought for customers. Unfortunately we feel unable to recommend them. In future we will visit toby carvery or harvester. Sad we have visited many times however the place has gone down hill too much.

visied again on saturday. ordered steak pie. it was disappointed, there was only minced meat inside the pie. with that price, you better order carvery. arrived 1:30pm on thursday, the place was quiet. staff were friendly. the carvery serves in three sizes. if you like vegetable, there are plenty to pile up your plates. the lunch special menu is also worth to consider with added £2.50 you get starter or dessert. the meals we ordered were delicious. the cakes are in large portions, if you like cakes, consider have a small main meal and leave your stomach to hudge cakes.

The cavery was good but the meat shy because not enough you could see though it and over priced for what you got

We was very shocked to see the state of the place the upholstery on the chairs was dirty and sticky . The ladies toilets, the wood around the washbasins was all lifted away from the sinks one side was all broke . One hot tap worked out of three . The hand dryer didn’t work. Health and hygiene would have a ball . We have been here previously but I was shocked to see the state of the place.

We came here for a carvery meal which was good except for the amount of meat we were given which was tiny, half a slice of turkey and half a slice of beef, we had expected a bit more. We went to order a dessert but had run out of our choices so we didn't bother.

Carvery was great quality and great value, looked to be a varied and decent menu available. Sunday afternoon so quite busy but didn't affect quality at all. The only thing that lets the place down is the extortionate drink prices! Seriously ridiculous stuff. Really let's it down. Almost £4 for a pint of pepsi max. £2 for a fruit shoot! EDIT: came again unfortunately no signage to state when the carvery closes so we were unable to have a carvery for the evening,and it seems the other food options are quite poor. Bit of a one trick pony establishment to be honest. No carvery = No quality. Staff were great though.

All 3 meals luke warm. scampi worst ever had in a pub, over priced, rock hard garden peas on all 3 meals. chewy steak overall not good 1st and last time will visit.

Brought my boys for breakfast with stitch experience. Stitch himself was very accommodating. Costume was quality and the interactions were adorable. Breakfast was ok. There was a mention of games at beginning of session but these didn't materialize. Ultimately my little man was over the moon. Would return

Came here today. 19/10/24 staff are amazing. Very friendly and love their job. I came for carvery tonight to be welcomed by the poor food I was offered. Paying over £10, I asked for all 3 meats which was gammon turkey and beef. I got the thinnist of meats possible. One slice of each. And the veg was dry and just warm. Peas looked like they'd died 3 days ago. Roast potatoes looked nice but just warm and no life after ud bitten into them. If it wasn't for the gravy, I don't think Id of eaten what I'd had. And I did leave a bit. Rating out of 10.id give lockkeeper carvery a 4/10. I do have a picture of last time I came to this place. Meat was thicker and veg looked greener. The picture is a old picture of what it used to look like.as u can see meat looks thicker and veg looks nicer. Should of took a picture of todays meal but forgot sorry. Hate having to leave a review about lockkeeper but food wise it going down hill.

Visited this establishment after receiving some offer vouchers and have to say was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The meals were exceptional value for money portions of a very good size and cooked perfectly. Will definitely visit again

Always had a lovely carvery in the Lock keeper when we lived close by. We called in having been visiting and it was safe to safe extremely disappointed with the carvery the beef was inedible and the yorkshire puddings well rubbery. The rest of the meal only just passed. Other customers around us all seemed to be complaining.

Thought the wife and i would treat our self for a meal out so we thought we will go to the Lock keeper. We went in ordered a drink and found a table to look at the menu. We decided to go for fish and chips 1 with garden peas and 1 with mushy. So i went and ordered and payed for our meal and went back to my wife to wait for our meal. As it got to a 35 min wait we decided to ask a member of staff were our meal was and she said she will go and see. She then came straight out with our meals and put them on the table. Well my wife and i looked at each other and could not believe what we was looking at, the fish was well dried out and as hard as a rock as if its been under the heat lamp and they forgot all about it. So we called the waitress over to complain and tell her we was not going to eat it and she said she will tell them to cook us 2 more meals. After 5 mins. she came back out and said there was no more fish so by that time we was so fed we told them not to bother and we went and got a refund. We will not be going back the the Lock Keeper unless it improves a lot. we could understand if it was busy but only had a handful of people in and we could only see 1 other couple eating. Oh also please teach your staff to smile because it DOES go along way.

Had yet another lovely meal at lockkeeper 😁 staff are great but someone that always stands out with her bubbly personality is Whitney. She's always got a smile on her face no matter how busy it is. She's definately one of the reasons I keep returning. Keep up the good work.

Poor service, over charged, asked for our bill to be looked at as charged for large and ordered regular. 1 slice of wafer thin meat and over cooked veg. Not much variety on veg either. Won't rush back

All staff friendly and attentive. We did come at quite a busy time so was slow to get food ordered at bar but staff were doing the best they could. All food came out fresh, hot and all together.

5 th Oct - Sunday carvery :- £11.79- small, 13.29 - Regular , ( +£2 for an extra slice of meat & a 2nd Yorkshire). The tables were wiped ,but simply smeared with the food muck left on the table & left wet. Wiping the table top afterwards with a clean White serviette left the table dry , but the serviette filthy black with muck. 🤢 Food - very little meat , very thinly sliced. Roast potatoes were 'Mehh' .. not fluffy, not decent roasts. Veg - carrots, peas, swede ,cauli cheese & red cabbage. Bit tasteless. Conveyor belt , canteen food. Overall bland lukewarm food. However hot gravy does warm it up a bit. Probably not worth the money . Could explain why it was quiet. Be aware they will try to upsell you on the meal size if you're not careful - we ordered a reg & a small .got charged for a large & a regular. When we pointed this out, rather than refund the money ,it was suggested "would I want another drink instead" ?! .. Don't feel I can recommend at this level of service or food temperature & quality.
