Lockkeeper in Bassetlaw

I stayed here for 3 days/nights during a work related course, the bar/restaurant staff were exceptional throughout, helpful, accommodating and very pleasant. No task was too big or small and the attention to detail made our stay perfect. I will return to this establishment when in the area in the future. 5 stars coming from my team and I for this place.

The food is delicious, I had the ultimate southern fried chicken burger as there is a deal on Tuesdays! The staff are excellent especially Laura, she is extremely helpful and she even told me about the deal on offer. The pub is next to the canal, it was a lovely evening with the weather just being perfect! I will definitely be coming back

Visited today and was served by the lovely Laura. The food were incredible. Carvery were perfect. Cooked to perfection. The service we received were excellent. All the staff were polite and well mannered. We will be back 🥰

Last minute decision to call in, was happily accommodated despite not booking, service was fast and food was lovely, Wiki was very friendly and made us the best cocktails. Can't wait to come back.

Emily was fantastic! Very prompt and friendly service and asked about allergens which we don’t get everywhere but as my other half is extremely allergic it was very much appreciated. Only on a flying visit but will be coming back with friends.

The only reason this place is getting a 2 for service is because the bar staff were chatty. The place was quiet, it took 40 minutes to get a bought in pre prepared starter and 3 pieces of garlic bread, and look at the state of the garlic bread, cooked on 1 side, flimsy and absolutely pathetic. In my opinion very poor standards were on display this evening.

Absolutely woeful experience staying here, wanted a double room, got a twin, toilet was a disabled toilet with alarms, the food was so cheap and nasty, went for food and couldn't sit at loads of tables because there was dirty dishes with half eaten food and glasses on the tables but no one clearing them, dining area wasn't even that busy, breakfast was also cheap and nasty food, expensive for drinks, first and last time I'll stay here

Good visit thank you. Food was good. Service was good. Doggie treats available. Inside dog friendly area. Plenty of seating inside and out. Small park for kids. Big car park. Only opportunities for me, outside tables to be levelled - slightly cautious about drinks on them on the grass. Water to be available for dogs, had to ask. Plenty of bowls and the team were very helpful to arrange.

Got a burger was £14, burger was small, burnt and just comes with a side of fries. For that price I'd expect something with it. Expensive and not good. Use to come here a lot. Never again, gone down hill big time.

Popped into the Lockkeeper while I was on a walk down the canal with the family and was pleasantly surprised at the service and speed at which the food came out, tried the katsu chicken burger which was lovely, all round brilliant experience, will definitely be returning soon .

Me and my colleague stayed here for 4 days on a buisness trip and I am very impressed! The food was incredible, service was great. Many thanks to emily who was very accomodating, cheerful and helpful!

Not very impressed! We went for a walk down the canal path and decided to eat outside at the Lock Keeper as it was a sunny day. We ordered three pies and one scampi, all with mushy peas. There was literally one portion of hard mushy peas between the four of us! It was one small spoonful each instead of the usual small round ramekin dish. I complained immediately, and they did respond immediately to be fair by bringing out a large dish to share between us. We also had to ask for more gravy for the pies, as again the gravy boats were tiny!! Definitely not enough for the dry pastry! We did clear our plates, but only because we were hungry and it was paid for! We will not return or recommend.

Stayed here for 4 nights on a work trip and was very impressed with both the food and service. Especially Emily, who was very charming and cheerful throughout our stay. If we are in the area again we will definitely stay here again!

This is our second time coming here and the service hasn't changed. The first time we ordered a carvery x6 but my son wanted something off the menu an hour or so later we gave up and he ended up with a McDonald's. So we've tried again. And it's the same. We ordered the X3 pepsi for table service and had to go to the bar as the online app said all the carvery has sold out. Well we've queued at the bar eaten our carverys but still no drinks so off over the road again. Extremely poor service

We came here for a last minute birthday meal for my little boy's 5th birthday. We didnt boom a table and also turned up unannounced with a cake... but Emily and Kiera went out their way to make sure my little boy had a fantastic meal and was surprised with his cake. Can't thank you both enough, two absolutely lovely ladies who provide brilliant customer service the entire way!

Came here for family meal and i must say wow am i impressed i opted for the carvery upon been served we was greeted by a smiley young chatty chap called kaine nothing was of trouble to him he was very helpful telling me what i could and couldnt have and also took interest in us by asking how we are and how our days are looking forward to being back

I spent the majority of the afternoon in the venue and was looked after by the lovely Alisha who was charming and attentive and even volunteered to take of photo of us

We have stayed on a few occasions and cant fault the service and warm welcome.We were extremely impressed with the service from Sam.She handled a very rude customer in a very professional manner she is a credit to the team at lock keepers.We think that head office should be more vigilant with staffing levels at busy times particularly at breakfast.We would not hesitate to stay here again.The rooms are both comfortable and clean.

Beautifully set on the canal. A lovely family friendly pub with good value for money food. Emily. In particular provided amazing service and knowledge of the menus. Will definitely be visiting throughout the summer. 😀

Carvery was very nice, shame about the plastic burning smell in the air which made us feel sick. Other than that kids loved the limitless drink and icecream Gone down hill, went for father's day booked table to b3 told when trying to order nearly everything was off the menu and nothing on the grill tried to order drinks to be told all beer sold out and no cider either, father got a burger but was a brown Gutenberg free one and took ages to come and very small apparently coz most things sold out cavery was poor hardly anything replenished so limited on what u could eat and poor meat servings too compared to in the past. Kids ordered sundea for it to come out with one flavour icecream and nothing else to be told yet again sorry everything sold out. We went for this meal at 5:30 which was booked and they had hardly any food or drink and it was fathers day so they wasn't prepared at all ans no sorry or refunds offered either just a sarcastic bar server. Tables were filthy and sticky food on floor and they wasn't even busy we had to.ask 3 times for table to be wiped even cutlery dirty. Went back again a week or so later and again most things were off the menu and limited drinks so proves wasn't a one off we walked out and went to mac Donald's instead. Such a shame was one of my best places to.eat and dad the best carvery and always happy friendly staff it's changed I hear its changed management well I not be going back for a 3rd time. Update, went back a 3rd time big mistake... 30/3/25 Booked a table then made to wait ages as table wasn't free. Got the table and it was dirty and sticky and not the table we had asked for as we had someone with a wheelchair and they can only manage to fit under the large table near fire escape so we had to make do whichbwas uncomfortable for the disabled person, food came out which was great and some of party had carvery which was disappointing, beef wasn't cooked properly very slimy and tasteless and not much if a selection on vegtables/sides and gravy was horrible and like water so food was left and we all went home early, we didn't even bother getting a second drink or desert this is now 3rd time it's been like this so def won't be coming back which is a shame as we used to come a a lot but 3rd time like this we have now learnt our lesson.

We visited with the family for Mother's Day! The staff were extremely friendly especially the two ladies on host Laura and Emily. They seated us and explained the process really well.The food was delicious I had the spicy beef burger and it was extra spicy! Credits to the chef Nathan for cooking my food perfectly! We will be returning very soon!

Myself and my partner came for Mother’s Day breakfast along with the family. The pub is located by a beautiful canal, the food was delicious and the staff (Emily and Laura) were amazing! They explained everything really well and gave excellent service. Would highly recommend

Update - March 25 - excellent service , food & drink. Seemed to really got it perfected . Makes me think last time Wasa glitch . Happy to recommend 5 th Oct - Sunday carvery :- £11.79- small, 13.29 - Regular , ( +£2 for an extra slice of meat & a 2nd Yorkshire). The tables were wiped ,but simply smeared with the food muck left on the table & left wet. Wiping the table top afterwards with a clean White serviette left the table dry , but the serviette filthy black with muck. 🤢 Food - very little meat , very thinly sliced. Roast potatoes were 'Mehh' .. not fluffy, not decent roasts. Veg - carrots, peas, swede ,cauli cheese & red cabbage. Bit tasteless. Conveyor belt , canteen food. Overall bland lukewarm food. However hot gravy does warm it up a bit. Probably not worth the money . Could explain why it was quiet. Be aware they will try to upsell you on the meal size if you're not careful - we ordered a reg & a small .got charged for a large & a regular. When we pointed this out, rather than refund the money ,it was suggested "would I want another drink instead" ?! .. Don't feel I can recommend at this level of service or food temperature & quality.

Lovely place, dog friendly, inside and out. We had the Surf n Turf and Ultimate Spicy Burger. Very nice indeed. The spice in the burger comes from the copious amount of Jalapeños. Dog was pleased with his two sausages in his own dish. The staff are friendly and efficient. Definitely return and will recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet, pleasant place to eat and drink.

I visited the pub with family for a bite to eat. The food was delicious, we opted for light bites and I must say they are the perfect size! The staff are friendly and helpful. The pub was clean and had a welcoming atmosphere, we sat outside as the sun was shining and it was beautiful with the canal.

It was extremely busy. So the service was being stretch to its limit. Great choice of food. I had the Chicken Kebab. The meat was a little on the cold side. But it didn’t dampen the experience.

We come to the lock keeper regularly and we must say that Emily is the most pleasant, kindest and most helpful member of staff we’ve come across! She bends over backwards for us and has helped us on numerous occasions in a professional manner! Nothing is to much trouble and she always has a smile on her face, an absolute credit to your team and a breath of fresh air! Thanks for always making our visits welcoming and plus our kids and especially Oscar enjoy seeing her!

Vistied for work for 3 days and had a very enjoyable stay. Looked after by Emily for breakfast and also after dinner drinks. Emily was a very cheerful person who did everything she could to make the trip enjoyable. She was very polite and dealt with an unhappy and very rude customer with upmost professionalism without retaliating in the same manner. A pleasure to stay and wouldn't consider anywhere else if I return to the area in the future.

Had a fantastic visit today to the Lock Keeper in good old Worksop with the family on a day out sight seeing. Was served by a lovely bloke called Nathan and was shown promptly to our table and informed about what deals and offers were on. We all were tempted by the carvery and boy was it a good carvery! Beef, gammon and you guessed it, turkey! Decided on all three meats and a maHOOSIVE yorkshire pudding! Veg was all hot and fresh and looked amazing! Carvery chef was very nice and chatty. Would definatley return on our excursions out in Worksop! Thank you team!

Booked a table for 13 people for the old folkes 50th wedding anniversary. The service was excellent, especially from a lady called Emily, she went above and beyond, she was patent with separate members of the family going up and ordering, she ensured we got our food around the same time, made sure we all had drinks and even boxed up left overs if we wanted to take it home. Food was great, yorshire puddings were enormous, compliments to the chefs. Would defo recommend this place. Good play area for little kids, big play area for the older ones.

First visit/stay at the Lockkeeper Worksop. The whole check-in experience was as good as could be, undertaken by Sam, a delightful young lady who was thoroughly knowledgeable making the whole process seemless and uncomplicated. Exactly what you need after a hard days work. Thank you very much Sam!

To add to the bad reviews, stopped in for our tea after going to hospital. We ordered an ultimate burger with a pint and a salt and chilli chicken kebab with a Pepsi. A member of staff came over with 2 pepsis and then asked what calsberg export was?! It was an option on the online menu. So after explaining its a pint of larger, a calsbergs was brought over. When the kebab arrived it smelt awful. The chicken had gone off. Complained straight away. Another meal was done and the same happened again. Got my refund and walked out. The manager didn't even come over to apologise left it too the young girl to deal with. Who was very polite and lovely. But u would of thought the manager would of dealt with it. Won't go back again! Disgusting!!

It was overall good, the kids food was a bit slow to come out and the kids burger was not easy for a 4 year old to eat. The carvery was lovely would of been nice to have some more option of veg rather then 3 different potatoes options the play area is great for the children. Would go back.

Big queues can form for the carvery, but soon clear. 🙂

6 of us visited mid February on a Monday. We all had the carvery which was delicious, hot and lots of it. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

We visited for a very late lunch. There was a choice on the carvery of either a very dried up looking piece of gammon or we could wait 5 minutes for turkey. We chose to wait and the turkey was lovely but the veg was dried up and overcooked

The pie was so hard and solid I could barely cut into it, dried out peas and tasteless mash. My partners sausage and mash was equally unappetising. I hope I don't have any ill effects on the 2 hour journey home... No loo paper in the toilets and it seems a prerequisite to carve names on the doors.

The food was delicious one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The place is a nice restaurant with plenty of seating. The only thing I would say is having a drinks list on the table. Other than that it was really good.

We had the carvery..found the veg to be quite dry, Yorkshire pudding was too big to fit on plate (small plate) stuffing placed inside it and had to carry it separate to plate. Toilets not very clean and could do with decorating. Doubt we will return.

We didn't eat here, so I can't comment. We met up with friends to "catch up" but having a prior engagement We just had drinks.

Really happy with the service and food. Unfortunately they didn't have what two members of the family had ordered but they offered suitable alternatives and refunded the difference so was sorted quickly and efficiently. Understandable certain items sell out but dealt with fantastically which is all you can ask. All staff were friendly and helpful.
