It was OK, my beef blade was nice but not very warm. Kids pizza ok, but Gyros was not great. Half the ingredients where different to menu and hardly any steak. Not to mention it was over cooked. Requested pink. Can't leave without saying it's called rhe Dog and Duck yet doesn't allow dogs. Most places in the country side have a dog friendly area. Probably Wouldn't bother again.

The food was amazing and the service we received was incredible. Holly went above and beyond to accommodate us and made the most memorable date for us both :)

Lovely Sunday lunch had the chicken which was delicious great service and friendly staff great atmosphere can definitely recommend.

Shocking service for our meal on Monday. The dark haired girl was actually embarrassing! She spent more time talking to some bloke than doing her job. It took over 3 hours to have our meal, which the mains came out cold. Had to have mine recooked. The waitress left dirty glasses on the table for the duration of the meal, never asked if we wanted anymore drinks, cleared half the table of plates and took 10 minutes to come back to clear the other half. Food was average, service is very poor. When I paid, in cash, she counted it out right in front of us, like we were going to short change her!!!. This place is very poor and certainly not worth a visit. Much better places near by that can have my money.

Visited this place on many occasions- usually ok. Not today though - customer service was poor, ambience was unusually loud & food was poor. Visited for Sunday lunch - choice's limited, food not hot so returned & reheated, alternatives provided without asking - overall poor quality except pizzas which were ok. Did raise our concerns but not acknowledged. We will pay our money & make our choice by not returning here. You need to get things sorted or you will be losing a lot of customers.

Arrived at 1.15pm and had a hospital appointment later, so needed to leave by 2.30pm. We asked approximately what the wait time was, the male waiter told us 20mins. So we would have 55mins to eat. Ordering was slow and after deciding what I wanted I was told that it wasn’t on the menu today. We waited 30 minutes I asked how much longer would it be for the food to arrive and was told not long. The original waiter came over and apologised for not getting the timing right. Another 10 minutes went by and still no food and I was ready to walk or we would be late. We had a 6 year old so she needed to eat. Then the food arrived and I said I was just going to leave. We had 10 minutes to eat. We had to leave the food part eaten. I politely asked for a reduction in the circumstances and was told that the manager was in a meeting so nothing could be done. I said then I am not going to pay. She said that as the food had been delivered I had to pay in full. I was not happy and she said if I didn’t pay she was calling the police now!!! I paid and I will never go back again! Had been numerous times before and this was supposed to be for a very special birthday meal for my 70th.

What a lovely pub. The staff are very friendly and made us feel welcomed. It has a lovely relaxing atmosphere and a varied menu . One night my daughter had a blade of beef which was very tender and full of flavour. My husband and myself had the steak and ale pie which was beautiful. We visited again where we had a chicken schnitzel and a Gyros. Again both were amazing . Would recommend a visit.

Had sticky chilli hallumi balls with sliced chillies and spring onions unfortunately both were missing Wife had small ham and pineapple pizza 5 pieces of pineapple none on one segment. They brought us chillies spring onions and pineapple after we requested it but more attention needed from chef in kitchen.we are regular visitors and all staff are nice and friendly will be back for sure but hopefully they pick up on this

We sat outside and they have a lovely outdoor setting. My friend and I both ordered the open sandwich, mine on sourdough and my friend in a wrap. They came out both on sourdough and it took 10 minutes to get the new one, and mine was nearly cold by then. The server had no rush at all and sauntered over with the new order as if we weren’t waiting. We also had to ask twice for cutlery, again risking our lunch getting cold. The sandwiches were nice, but mine had so much mayo on it that I felt like I was only eating mayo. Overall quite disappointing :(

We have been regular diners here for years on a Sunday. Today they had no meals off the ‘mains’ menu only grilled steaks apparently. The waitress claimed it was because they had 300 covers during the day, and then told us they always take the ‘mains’ off the menu on Sundays which we know is not true. But surely they would have known their bookings before the weekend food order. What’s going on? Either poor management , staff issues, or they’re just going downhill. Why not put a sign on the door to say ‘ no main meals available this evening’ How would the diners booking an evening meal in advance for tonight get on? We’ ll take some convincing to make a return visit. There’s plenty of other restaurants around. Very poor.

We were on a small break and wanted somewhere for dinner. It was lovely. I had lamb rump. Deliciously cooked my partner had fish and chips and the fish was huge and tasted equally as nice as the lamb rump. Service was swift and friendly. All round a lovely place x

After a day mountain biking at Sherwood forest we booked a table here for a well deserved meal....we were not disappointed. All the staff were friendly and attentive, particularly Kerry our main waitress. We ordered the mixed breads as a starter, the breads and spicy butters were really tasty, complimented by the balsamic dip. For our mains we both ordered different gyros, the portions were a really good size and both extremely tasty. Washed down with a lovely cold, well priced drink We will definitely be back when next at Sherwood.

Been here at weekend had a amazing Sunday lunch. Tried many in the area but this was top hands down. This will definitely be a couple of weeks in the month booking. Staff are nice to & a big pat on the back for kitchen staff who you don't see. Well done team dog & duck. ❤️

Absolutely disgusted at the customer service from Dog and Duck, we were accidentally charged twice for our meal. When we noticed both of the transactions in our bank statement we raised it with the restaurant back in 2023, 8 months later we have been told we will not be receiving a refund despite providing evidence of been charged twice. We will now be reporting the restaurant to trading standards. Absolutely shocking, do not visit unless you want to pay £160 for 2 meals.

Great place for eating out or socialising. Simple online booking page that also had up to date menus for viewing. Plenary of free parking. We were instantly greeted y the staff and shown to our table. The staff were spot on with their friendliness, professionalism as well as perfect timings for taking orders and delivering the food.no long waits but not rushed either. The place is well decorated and comfortable as well as spotless. The food was really good especially for the price. We couldn’t eat a dessert but will try to the next time as we will return. I have been here a few times and it has always been a great place to eat. Today was really good once again and our server Elliott was very polite and good at checking we had everything we needed.

Another trip to Dog and Duck for Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. We were served quickly at the bar, the food came out reasonably swiftly as well. The Sunday lunch is an absolute banger here and there were four empty plates. We went for the extra sides of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. Also banging. We will be back again!

We popped in here for dinner after a day out in the local area and haven’t stopped talking about it since! The food was just divine and the pub itself lovely and inviting. The starters were superb - I had the fish cake and my partner had the black pudding scotch egg. The mains were well cooked and well presented too. I highly recommend the chicken schnitzel. Service was great and there was also a fantastic cocktail menu. A really impressive experience. Thank you!

Been a vegetarian for 43 years & had a few nut roasts, this one was the best I’ve ever had, lovely. Went with my wife & mother in law & we all thoroughly enjoyed it. All the staff were lovely. Thank you.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here, i had the belly pork and my wife had the chicken. Both well cooked, all the veg was perfect, cooked properly but not mush. Had the banana cheesecake for desert, home made baked cheesecake, highly recommended. The service was good, we not made to feel hurried. At £50 for the two of us, i think it was a very reasonable price. The place looks as though it has recently been renovated, and we were seated near the log burner. Would highly recommend and we shall certainly be returning.

Lovely place- looks like they have really spent money doing this place up. Very under staffed- 1 waiter for 10 tables! This meant everything took extra slow. Bit disappointed with food. Two of us chose the ‘hallomi gyros’ dish which came out with a few ‘hallomi bites’ (not fresh hallomi as expected) obviously from frozen- not the nicest. Other family members had food which they enjoyed I think we just chose the wrong thing on the menu! Very over priced food for what it is also- not an overall reflection on service as the poor waiter was serving, making drinks, taking payments and taking food plates away!

Slow service and too expensive for what you get. We ordered the ‘Assorted Breads’ which was under the while you wait section of the menu. It wasn’t assorted at all, we were given the same type of dry bread and it arrived with the main meal which took about 45 mins to arrive (we were there on a Friday lunch time when it wasn’t busy, so no idea why it took so long to serve). I wouldn’t have ordered the extortionate £9 bread and oil if I had known it would turn up at the same time as the main meal. When I picked my burger up, loads of water poured out, my plate was full of water and the bottom of the burger bun was really soggy. The nacho cheese pizza was very bland and tasteless. Didn’t stay to look at the dessert menu and won’t be coming back. Huge disappointment. Would not recommend at all!

Excellent meal. Cheerful and obliging staff. Fabulous setting, good, well maintained car park. Indoor and outdoor eating areas. Close to Sherwood Pines and Go Ape. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Disappointing meal, restaurant looked lovely and the menu had loads to offer. Shame as looked really promising but food was hit and miss. Some of us loved our dinners like the gyros but the nachos and lamb wasn’t very nice. Service wasn’t great, we was left with dirty plates for a long time and the staff didn’t feel proactive. Real shame as menu was so promising.

This is the first time I’ve been here for a good many years, what a great surprise. Staff were very welcoming and the lay out is great our table gave us relative privacy and looking out onto great views. The menu isn’t huge but there was a good variety to choose from and the food was excellent. It was a relaxing atmosphere and staff were unobtrusive. Had a great time and will definitely be back.

My Partner had Derbyshire Blade of beef & I had the Pork wrapped in Pancetta....possibly the best meals we've ever eaten. I've even asked for the recipe for the Black Pudding Puree & will definitely be adding garlic to my dauphinoise potatoes in future. Absolutely fabulous meals as always 👌

I took my 3 children here after a day at GoApe. I'm so happy we went! The staff are so lovely and accommodating even though we looked like scruffs 😄 The food 😍 absolutely beautiful!! I had the Beef blade, it melted in my mouth and was so full of flavour. I would definitely recommend. One of my sons had the sea bass, he was in heaven, I tried it (obviously) and when I go back I will have that for sure. The presentation and flavours were out on this world. My other 2 sons had burgers and although I didnt try them they looked amazing. Both boys finished them all and said how much they loved them. Definitely going back. Prices weren't ridiculous either.

What an incredible service we had today at the Dog and Duck. We were a group of 24 and just turned up without a booking (we did ring first to check though) we also had nut allergies, coeliacs and a few fussy eaters. We sat outside and they came to our table to take food and drinks orders. The food was great quality and came out quickly. They managed our large order brilliant and the service was fast and friendly. We were genuinely blown away. Thank you to all the staff on duty for being so accommodating and kind.
