We visited on the 8/8/24 ,a mix of seniors including one 90yr old gentleman. This was a very special day for myself & niece who hadn't seen for sometime. We all chose our selection ok but the elder senior requested an item not listed for lunch!! After discussion with the helpful waitress his wish was granted , he thoroughly enjoyed his special Chip butty with extras & made short work of it. His day started with sadness but his surprise lunch made his day. Thankyou for the kindness.

Sadly not a good visit, we had finished our pot of tea and our lunches hadn’t arrived after 35 minutes I told a member of staff we were still waiting for our food,we noticed other people that had arrived after us were having their food, the fresh pot of tea the staff member promised didn’t come either so friend who was really annoyed by this time went to the counter and ask for our lunch be sorted we received another pot of tea but I’m afraid the experience didn’t want us to come again

My son had the burger. The bun looked burnt and it really wasn’t anything special, and at over £11, I expected better. I had the smallest omelette I’ve ever seen. I can’t be sure, but I suspect it was frozen. I’ve never had a tough omelette before. There was a small handful of oven chips, and again at over £11, it wasn’t worth the money. Add a tea, coffee and a soft drink and it came to over £35! I wish I’d gone to McDonald’s. It would have been cheaper, tastier, and there would have been a pudding each, for around £22. So disappointed - I won’t be going again in a hurry.

On my last vist to the Coffee Shop 19/4/24, I feel so incensed I need air my feelings on the abysmal customer service I received. On walking up to the counter to order a bite to eat around 9:45am, I asked for a cup of tea with two tea bags (mother-in-law likes strong tea and one tea bag doesn't do it) a woman doing the teas turned around and barked "that's 40p" I questioned this as I'd never been charged an additional cost before in any garden centre across the Country or chained Cafés such as Costa Coffee. The woman said it will be 40p with a stone face, if I was going to be pedantic, I could have questioned why do you still charge full price for a coffee when I have it black and only one shot! The woman was adamant its 40p. I moved on to order a scone, the second woman said I'll have to see if they're ready with a face that could stop a train and a course on customer service wouldn't go a miss, I was surprised the scones weren't out as the Cafe had been opened 45 minutes! I then ordered "BROWN" toast, what came 15 minutes later was "WHITE" toast with just two rock hard butter portions which isn't sufficient and the butter was so hard it ripped up the cheap bread when trying to spread it. To top of one of the most unfriendly customer service experiences I've encountered, the plate of toast was literally dropped on the table by a less than friendly waitress. I would highly recommend Management take the Staff from the Coffee Shop to any of the following establishments to see how slick they are run and the high levels of customer service given. Gates Garden Centre, Wentworth Garden Center, Emporium Garden Centre and East Bridgford Garden Centre to name a few. It won't be a return from me or my family for sure.

Visited the Cafeteria mid afternoon for lunch, before my daughter travelled home to Northumberland .Most items were sold out ,so we had limited choice so decided to order Scampi & Chips (light bite) l Looked good on arrival but some chips were overcooked to bullet level as were most of the scampi so when trying to cut in half lost some to table & one on the floor!!! Not impressed as not cheap for size & certainly should be edible.Fortunately the cake was enjoyed by my daughter . Got the impression at 3pm the cafe was on a run down to closing time!

Awful. We arrived at 1.50, waited in a queue and were told the carvery was out of meat! So ... back to table, sort out order - rejoin queue. Finally ordered, receipt time 2.23. Waited until 2.55, then went back to till. One woman looked at me, then walked out through a door to the back. The other looked at me and kept filling a basket with butter. In fairness, I'm disabled, so maybe that's why. Finally, I said 'excuse me'. The woman puffed her cheeks at the inconvenience and shambles over. I asked if our order had been forgotten. She said we had waited only 20 mins - untrue. It was 35, and they were hardly busy as she claimed (we watched the meals come out and orders going in). There was no apology, and just a desire to finish up and close. Food arrived 45 mins after our order and was average standard for a garden centre. We wanted dessert, but couldn't, as the restaurant was shut by the time we finished eating. Not only that, but as it was Sunday, we barely had any time to shop and left without the things we wanted to buy. Awful experience, which ruined the day - and not value for money in any way. Staff need replacing and more polite, more efficient staff to replace them.

Called here today Monday 11th April 2022. first port of call was the restaurant, wasnt very busy, good menu and they did gluten free toast, so ordered 2 mugs of lattee, a round of gluten free toast and a round of ordinary toast, both with marmalade. Paid moved counter to get the coffees which seemed to take ages. Sat down with drinks , after 20 minutes we enquired with a young lady where was our toast. She went into the kitchen came back apologised that it would be about 2 minutes and offered us a free drink which we accepted. The toast came and it was very nice. I could understand the delay if it was busy, but it wasnt. OK did get apology but it was terrible service to start with. Heaven knows what its like when busy as its a large place with lots of seats inside and out. Not sure if i would go again

We went to the garden centre as a last minute birthday celebration, there where 13 in our party - a mix of children and adults. The staff could not have been more accommodating, the service was fabulous - the tables were ready for our arrival and the orders came out swiftly. Sharon the waitress was amazing as she delivered the food, there was confusion as people in the party had forgotten what they had ordered, she took in in great fun and got it all sorted. We were all impressed and grateful to have such a lovely experience at such short notice. A big thank you to all the staff that was on shift that day it was very much appreciated.

Just popped in for a look around the garden centre. Standard selection on menu. Coffee and cakes were fine. Chocolate orange cake a little dry and out of scones reasonably early in the day. Tables and chairs sanitised to within an inch of their lives when people left was reassuring. Reasonable prices. Not the place I would purposely go back to but ok for a stop and a bite to eat. There is a good selection of meals on the menu. Nothing fancy but well priced and by the look of it as it was coming out of the kitchen, well presented and tasty looking.

Ordered Italian Chicken listed on the menu as crispy chicken in a tomato sauce with melted cheese, served with chips and salad. After waiting an age for the meal, I was sorely disappointed. The chicken was preformed slices in breadcrumbs - not mentioned that on the menu! The breadcrumb covering was soggy so I had to scrape it off. The chicken wasn't as hot as it ought to have been. The tomato sauce was uninspiring and the meltedf cheese tasteless. Left part of my meal, the best bits were the chips and salad. Won't be in an hurry to go back. If you only want a drink and a piece of cake you'll be OK but don't bother about the dinners.

Came here recently for food. My family always say how good it is but I’m always a little unlucky. Firstly the food took ages. You know that weird paranoia when you think everyone is getting served before you? Yes that actually happened! Ordered lamb pie off the specials. Pie was very thinly filled. Actually the best thing we ordered was the ciabatta by the looks of it. Tuna salads came out and were wolfed down, probably through ravaged hunger. Two slices of unappetising white bread were added to the salads though not requested and therefore not eaten.

Had the most awful meal at the cafe at Shipley Garden Centre today. My husband and myself both had the special which was steak and kidney pudding. When it came (with oven chips and cheap tasting peas) the suet was so hard you could not cut through it and the meat tasted sour. At £8.99 it wasn’t cheap either. The only reason we did not send it back was that it was the hottest day of the year and with no air con in the place and having waited for quite a long time for our meal we just wanted to get out of there. We won’t be going back that’s for sure. Avoid it!

Very disappointed with food and service. There was ittle vegetarian choice so I had "Lasagne, chips and salad". When it came (which took quite a while as they were busy, it being Mother's Day on the Sunday) the waitress carried the plate in her hand, not on a tray and almost threw it onto the table causing chips to fall onto the chair next to me. The Lasagne was unappetising as it looked as though something (another dish) had been rested on it. It tasted like a microwaved ready meal. Chips were ok but the salad was little more than a limp garnish. Not a very pleasant experience and not one to be repeated soon.

We used to love this place but doubt we will bother again. Serving staff are lovely but food has become mediocre and expensive. It wasn’t busy at all, as was the royal wedding day so only two tables filled. Ordered two plated salads with a side order of chips. Sat down and they were brought straight out. Chips dried to the point they were powdery and tasted like they’d been left out ages, quick blast from in microwave and sent out. Plateful of mainly lettuce. Portion of ham about a quarter of what we normally would have had and that was scrag ends. Plates were taken in by a lovely girl and replaced with fresh chips that were fine. Lady sitting outside left almost all her chips. Plated salad now costs £7.99. Not worth it. Going to Hungry Horse next time.

This is one of our favourite places to go for a really good salad. However, we were very disappointed today because the 'full plate salad' could at best have been described as a bit of a garnish! This is a real shame given that the quality and freshness of the ingredients and the quantity of meat was great. When we order a salad we need to have enough of the fresh stuff to make it a decent meal. We will visit again in the hope that it was a one off but will be saddened if we have to cross it off our places to go for a lovely lunch list.

We didn't have time to sample the food but in the past have not been disappointed. The scones have always been delicious, and the desserts were exceptional. Perhaps next time we might have time to partake of the lunch menu which looked enticing.

Visit the coffee shop regularly but Trip Advisor won't let me report every time which is probably fair. Not had a full meal for a long time usually just have a snack. This time we both had a roast beef Sunday lunch and apart from the mashed potatoes which were a tad dry the meal was excellent backed up by good coffee/tea and service from the girls .

I have been in the coffee shop,a few times and took my mum with me today , the atmosphere is o.k , but a lot of tables hadn't been cleared , we sat for a while with 2 dirty trays with dity plates on our table for quite some time , one of the waitress's even cleared the table next to us first that had no one sitting at , my mum and daughter had looked forward to having a scone , but were let down as they were hard and tasteless and fell to bits ..they were also kept in a basket with no cover over which isn't hygenic .. We weren't put off and would visit again , but would try something different , it is well priced and good alum for money :). The garden centre itself is nice

Popped in the café for a quick snack at lunch. We ordered soup and chose a scone. The soup arrived and was nothing outstanding but it was ok. The bread was stale. I took it back to the counter and explained the soup was ok but the bread was not fresh. There was no apology, No sorry you have not enjoyed your meal just a "Should be fresh it's out the freezer". Nil points for customer service. Miserable staff too. The scones are very good. Be careful with the tea pots they leak everywhere.

Tatty café, low grade food and very poor service. The management is appallingly rude and the staff badly trained.

Visit here for breakfast at least twice a month. Comprehensive breakfast, lunch and snack menu that caters for gluten free too. The scones in several flavours are awesome and freshly baked through the day! In fact they have had to put a buying limit of 4 per customer when taking away! Very friendly place that is always busy. Would recommend again and again.

This is one of the worst breakfasts I've had. The bacon was undercooked so the fat was raw and the eggs were overcooked and tasteless. The coffee is nice which is all I can say in their favour. I won't be wasting £15.50 at this place again.

We visit here a couple of times a month for lunch.cakes and desserts are delicious. Baguettes, panini's or specials including lasagnes or cottage pies etc. served with teas coffees or even wine. kids are well catered for with children's meals plus colouring things and books are provided. Theres a good gluten free range on offer too.It can get busy, there are a few tables outside too which is nice for a sunny day. I'm surprised to see a less favourable review on here as we have never had a bad visit.

No vayas aquí. No malgastes tu dinero. La comida nos dejó 2 de nosotros enferma. Estos chefs necesita formación adecuada, por lo que el personal.

So we were stopping here after visiting family in the area and we were on the way home. It was a very quiet afternoon. Some might not like that it's quiet but for us it was perfect. It's a bit strange inside as it's half-pub, half Travelodge but despite hesitations we found it t be perfect for what we wanted (i.e. a snack and rest after a long journey). We had the 3 plates deal (I think it was for £14-£15) and it was plentiful for the two of us. I can see why this is rated the no. 1 spot in the area.
