Nice beers on tap. Been coming to this pub for 20 odd years and the beers now are some of the best it's had.

I didn't have food, just drinks on this occasion. Service was lovely, it's nice to speak to real people.

Reasonably priced alcohol.Operated by The Pub People Co.Meals are available to a set menu (but not all day-please check times) and a Sunday lunch.Karaoke + involvement games (Bingo/Chase the Ace/Open the Box etc.)and disco on a Sunday afternoon starting from about 4pm until about close too (unfortunately subject to change/cancellation at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances).

First night out in alfreton, I don't like crowded places so this place was perfect. Watching the locals dancing and falling over all the chairs was a right laugh 🤣 staff was lovely and welcoming and the prices are fair will definitely be going back there again

Only give it one star coz I couldn't give it 0. It needs a good clean and fetal. Toilets is disgusting. First time I've been in this pub for few years and won't return for few more years.

We booked in as a big group and was left waiting for our table, we had been online to get everyone's food order - Then went to order food and the girl behind the bar said none of the food was available as the online menu was 3 years out of date. We left and went to another venue and got what they advertised. Wont book there again for a meal!

Absolutely horrible experience! False advertisement go onto their website and it tells you about all these specials but they do not honor them then we had the carvery half of the food was missing and I had to ask someone to go get it, then the food they did have was cold never going here again strongly recommended against going here.

The pub is good and a a place to relax both afternoon and evening. They have good customer service.

First time at the Kind Alfred yesterday with my family. Four adults, six children. Really enjoyed the carvery. Lots of different, well cooked, meats and vegetables and good deserts. The meal reminded me of one of my favorite places, the Trafalgar Bar, Gibraltar. The staff are wonderful. Very friendly and good with the children. We'll be going over and over, I think, when we visit family in Alfreton.

Breakfast was swimming in grease and the clientele were raucous and sweary. Not a great place to take the family. Staff were pleasant though.

Good pint in a obviously popular pub. Had a very nice pint of John Smith's here. Well worth a visit.

Shouting abuse look at your cameras no abuse from me just wanted a nice pint.the pint with bits in it was straight from pump so free beer don't think so dirty glasses flat pint sorry for being picky.if saying I wanted a fresh pint is abuse then ok that's fine

The last time I went was with a group of friends. We had a meal at the local Chinese and decided to pop in for a drink. The pub was fairly quiet, the music was on loud which is to be expected especially on a weekend. The bar staff were all talking amongst themselves which was fine at first until we felt we were being ignored, when we finally got served the barlady was rude and didn't even take my drink order right and 3 out of 5 friends drinks were wrong. I accepted it because the music was loud and maybe they hadn't heard and I should of complained at the time but I was feeling annoyed with her rudeness and just wanted to enjoy my time with my friends. The staff started messing around behind the bar which again is fine, everyone should have fun but they were putting ice down each others tops and trousers, they were very "touchy feely" which didn't feel very professional. A fight broke out which isn't unusual in this pub and the security did their job even though they were originally sat at the bar with a pint. I haven't had a good experience in this pub for many years and that is why I have given it one star!

Great meal that our club had here. The Christmas meal was very tasty and filling.

Not very good customer service at all. This place was recommend and this same bar person was said to me nice! I appreciate that the female bar person was on her own, I have worked on public houses for many years. However, she had no awareness who was in the que to be served in order. Attitude was very rude. She wanted me to buy drinks them que again after serving quite a few others before she would even take my order. Quite an agreesive manor. We will never return to this place. Would not recommend it either.

Worst DJ you will ever hear!out of date repetitive songs.how the owners haven't noticed people leaving due to the music and going elsewhere is beyond me

Great pub good beer and good staff

Visited this pub for a quick pint and was almost sick. After drinking half a pint there was a large streak of unknown substance on the inside of the glass, possibly food? When I took this to the bar, the staff had a couldn't care less attitude, were rude, tipped it away and left it that. When I then asked for a refund, this was shouted across the bar but had drank half. I so wish I took a picture but u was too busy trying to work out what on earth I had just drank from. I had obviously only stopped the second I realised the glass was SO DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY and they would have been aware as they pulled the pint. The guy then shouted that he would give me a pound and threw it on the side. Absolutely appalling service, experience and do not recommend anyone going to this run down, dated pub when literally anywhere else offers better staff, manners and drinks!!

Goodness me what a disgusting, run down dirty place, terrible service, hardly anything on the menu, we where told they where waiting for a delivery, poor excuse, you want to support local, but if this is the best local can offer then it’s no wonder the place has died a death, should be closed down. Go elsewhere, save yourself the hassle.

Very rarely step foot in places like this but thought I’d try a coffee, the cheap price sums it up because it was vile. Dirty floors and tables, whoever runs this place really needs to step up to the mark!

Waitress was rude, she didnt serve us claiming she cant confirm the birth date from foreign id and claimed that my UK driving license is fake, even though before lockdown there was no problem with any of that, she wanted my bank card to confirm it, I dont know how, but it doesnt seem safe to give a complete stranger your bank card. Overall bad expierience, feel like she just didnt wanted to serve foreigners. Do not recommend.

As this was one of only 4 places in Alfreton registered for the Govt 50% off deal we thought we'd give it a go. Only 1 bitter to choose from at the bar and I ordered a coffee thinking we'd be eating there. Then when I checked they weren't even doing food! Why did they register in the first place in that case? Probably just as well as there were no Covid 19 safety measures in place either so wouldn't have wanted to eat there anyway. Dingy,dirty, miserable pub- no wonder it was almost empty. Perched on end of my seat,drank up & left as soon as we could. Probably the worst place I've ever been to. Definitely won't be returning there.

Dirty glasses with mouth marks....cheesy garlic bread undercooked and so much cheese that the grease from the cheese soaked straight through, white powedery underneath...so i defo cancelled of the mains if you cant cook garlic bread right how can you cook a mains. No apology neither, infact i had to ask for a refund but the manager was saying it depends weather or not the 'chef' has put the mains in the oven or not 🙈....and as foe pouring a drink from a dirty glass into a new glass (that was still dirty) is so unhygienic. Need to up the standards and definitely the chef.

Wanted to take the in laws out for dinner who live local. Spent a couple of hours researching eateries in the alfreton area and came across this pub. Good reviews, menu looked lovely. Got to the pub, table was broken, had to move. Went to order food and they didn't have 3 out of the 4 items ordered. In fact they wanted to send out the already stressed bar person for a red onion because they didn't have any. At that point I said, we're going else where. Another bar person then replied, well it is the beginning of the year and we've not had a delivery yet. Sorry, didn't realise we were in the 19th century. How do you think supermarkets and other eateries cope? Or maybe you should update your website and let potential NEW customers know you have no stock. You also need to remove the menu from your website as it has no bearing on what you have to offer. Will not be making another visit here. Steer clear

Went today for food and drinks with family and friends .Great place with great staff and manager .Food was lovely and service with a smile .Will go again .

Used to love the place until I saw the barmaid amy sniffing coke in the toilets and then come out as if she had done nothing wrong absolutely disgusting

Great place to take the family out for a nice drink or food.New chef there and shes amazing.Give it a try you wont be disappointed.Its now under new management and they are doing loads with the place .Also they are getting the function room up and running again located on the second floor.

Rude & miserable chief who didn't speak 2 us very nice, put a bad impression on the place. Food wasn't even that great so does really need a better attitude towards people

Went with my family for Sunday carvery. Not a lot of choice and what they do have is pretty grim. Coke was flat. Staff not particularly nice.

The food was horrific! It was disgusting the place is in need of a make over. The place looks unhygienic cobwebs and stains on the seats. The carvery was cold and not a wide range of choices as well served with a cold plate. The server was highly rude and looking down on us I will never be returning

I really like this place, OK it's in need of a bit of tlc, but it's clean in the important places. I've never eaten here - something I intend to remedy, but the beer is fine and they have a great dj on Fri / Sat night pumping out some excellent tunes!

A really good town pub with great well kept beers . and they also serve locally brewed beer. Coffee and tea also served. And also great meals available.

We had our works Christmas dinner and Mum's birthday meal rolled into one here today. The new landlady, Helen, has done a brilliant job of turning this place around. The 3 course meal with champagne was just perfect. Absolutely beautiful food. The staff can't do enough for you yet aren't in your face. It made for a very pleasant and enjoyable afternoon.

Called in for lunch on Saturday, ordered a coke no ice , got a glass full of ice. Ordered two plaice and chips got two cod and chips when I told the waiter he just kept repeating two fish and chips, so we accepted them but the chips were hard and had a funny taste I think it was the oil they were cooked in, needlessly to say must of the meal was left, my companion enjoyed her latte though.

Came in on a random visit to Alfreton with my brother, Both of ordered the “King Alfred Triple stacker” burger, All I can say is what a badass burger!!!! Incredible, for £9.99 you can’t argue with that price. Value for money at its finest, Lovely welcoming staff too. I don’t come to Alfreton much but now I’ve got one massive reason too!! 10/10

forty-five minutes after ordering we asked what was happening Assured would only be a few more minutes delayed because they had a party of 14 arrived after us that had pre-ordered An hour after ordering came to table to be assured would only be a few more minutes Fifteen minutes later food arrived

Just changed management and on my visit limited beer. Generally okay in the past and central Alfreton location. Often lively at weekends and hoping new management do well. Will review again next visit.

Don’t see my very special friends often enough so we decided to make an effort and meet up for breakfast at this pub really good breakfast well worth the money and we have now decided to make more effort and go back soon

Visited this pub on a Monday night the staff were so friendly. Part of our group are from Holland and couldn’t wait to taste the Amstel and can guarantee it is the same as the one sold in Holland. After speaking to the new managers we can 100% guarantee you a friendly night and lovely drink.

Me and my partner have came here to have a meal after looking at the reviews but this isn't the first time with being turned away after being told they are not serving food it was at 2 pm... they are giving false advertising let down

I've been many times and had food and often enjoyed it but this time put me off my food was cold and wasn't what I asked for the staff did exchange it for what I wanted but by the time I'd gotten it back we were ready to go anyway.

I went in for Sunday lunch with friends, I stood at the bar with 3 others waiting to order our meal and drinks, only to be ignored while the chief barmaid was having a strop chucking things about while the other 3 bar staff just stood there doing nothing, she then left the bar and started to clear tables. I asked one if he was serving? and he just shrugged his shoulders, after about 5 minutes and a longer queue, he started to serve customers. When our meal arrived we had no cutlery or condiments. My meals was only just warm enough to eat, Our friend said she left half hers as it was cold. so we walked out as it was no good bothering to complain as the barmaid was still having a strop at everybody.
