Duffield Fish & Chips in Amber Valley

Spent £60 in this chippy last night buying fish chips chicken kebab meat .probably the worse food I've ever ,I wouldn't eat anything from here again if it was free

Called on Saturday night after a walk and a beer, took the fish chips peas x 2 home £22 never again, we where so looking forward to them🙈 awful fish and chips, the peas and curry ok, that’s the best I can say unfortunately. We won’t bother again!

Great first-class Friday fish & chip stop-off joint for the staff & myself from the bodyshop in Little Eaton. Fish was cooked fresh, kebab that we ordered was perfect ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I like food, my gf likes going there from time to time, it was quite the sad it’s not open on Mondays cuz she wanted it and it was not the open 😔

The chips were lathered in grease, so badly the Styrofoam trays had turned brown due to the amount of fat, which leaked also onto the other items in the tray ending up with most of it being thrown away. Extremely disappointed as this was suppose to be a celebratory meal for our daughter to celebrate her getting a new job, will not be going back.

Fish and Chips absolutely delicious and in my opinion the best in the area, well worth a visit !

Really gone down hill, batter should be crispy not doughy, chips were wet. Gven the place afew goes since but the same result. Price is very high for the quality.

We had 2x curry mixes with battered sausage £14. Chips & sausage looked like they'd been left over from lunch time, overcooked & hardly any batter left. Curry sauce watered down with no flavour. Very disappointed as last time we went it was lovely.

Ghastly, luke warm chips and peas change your oil and blanche your chips better . Waste of money .

A decent chippy with no issues with parking (I slung my van around the corner in The Viceroy's car park. Didn't have a clue what the price was pre-order and told after service it was £6.30 for a curry mix and fishcake in breadcrumbs. I was a little bit taken back but the meal was massive and delightful. Both staff members were welcoming and polite Will return the next time that I'm in the area for lunch/dinner. I don't envy you guys having to serve to the likes of the "Ten bob millionaires" of "Daffield" There are some right pretentious w@nkers who think they're above their station around them parts. A great experience from a little old chippy. Well done!

Came here today as im on holiday for a week in derby...half hour before closing to be told they've turned cooking apparatus off and cannot fulfil my order for chips and battered sausage(specifically the battered sausage and told me they can only do chips). Absolutely ridiculous of course, I didn't get my chips...I will be ordering from elsewhere. No where on the store front or online says they turn cooking apparatus off in a store thats made to serve food! Should be well known and advertised on front of store and on website. I'm shocked this place has 4.5 stars as they can't even serve basic food half hour before close on a FRIDAY night...not that it matters if its a Monday night as its supposed to stop serving when it closes not before!

I always feel a little let down by fish & chips, however this chippy has restored my faith! The fish was so fresh and well cooked as was the batter, the chips were perfectly cooked, crispy and light and fluffy on the inside. This place is a little hidden gem and is well worth a visit, even if you have to travel, it will be worth your while!! Also, just to mention that the staff and the owner are super professional and they clearly take pride in the service and food that they deliver. We will definitely be coming back!

Friday lunch time and chips re-fried.. thought I was waiting for fresh but when I got home they were definitely old chips that had been re-fried. Very very salty too.

I used to highly rate this chip shop I've even previously left a 5 star review not sure what happened from then till now? I had fish chips and peas from there a few weeks ago and it was awful! The chips were stuck together and mushy the whole lot went in the bin an absolute waste of money and I don't like to waste food!! I thought it may have been due to ordering early as if they had been left in cold fat? Decided to give it another go this evening, I turned up at 20:20 and it was closed, this has to be the worst chip shop!.. closed at 20:20 on a Saturday night?

Bit of a follow up since my earlier review so this one now replaces it…. Another phone order collected and ready on time and once home (2 minutes away) and served up all four of us tucked in……. to stone cold food!! How long it had been ready I’m not sure but it wasn’t nice. Phone call made to the shop and they offered to remake the whole order again along with a few tweaks requested to the child like portions. So a second trip out again to fetch it and once home the second time it was much better but the girls who had chosen chicken wraps said their meat tasted of lamb and wouldn’t eat them - do they use the same carving tool?? Couldn’t be bothered to go back a 3rd time but this experience has put me off going again for a while. My last experience was good but this time they struggled to get it right twice!

Now I love fish and chips and this place is amazing fantastic service. Such a lovely clean shop after speaking the new manager in the shop who is passionate and friendly about his job and his team I opted for the large cod and chips it was all cooked fresh it was crispy light and pure white cod and the chips were amazing fluffy and crispy. The staff were helpfull and polite and would definatly recommend this shop to anyone. Keep up all the great work this shop is a credit to you and duffield

This is the best fish and chip shop locally to us …. And we have tried a couple of others…. Staff are amazing and friendly…. I order online through Facebook (which is easy) and collect and my collection time has always been 15 mins or less…. Food is fresh and hot…. Collection is easy!!! Menu selection is just right…. Good variation of food and I have tried many of the foods on offer….Would and have highly recommended to friends and family…..

Nice traditional Fish and chips with a good selection of other bits if you fancy anything like a burger & chips, all the favourite fizzy drinks and things like mushy peas or curry sauce (or gravy if that way inclined). All in all very nice.

Go here a couple of times a week; good food, and friendly staff. Lovely place.

They have changed hands so now the great food I would travel so far for is standard and boring nothing unique about this chippy anymore if you want some standard chips and tasteless batter like every other cheap chippy, people pay and travel for good food get your old chips back and the other batter back making everything cheap and pretending your good is ridiculous

Not the same now new owner 😕 quality seems to be lacking , maybe the reason is that the main chip and batter bloke Pas has left . Used to enjoy otherwise

Lovely chips, peas very tasty. Kebab nice & juicy as cut freshly, not dry like some places. Can recommend.

Just open under new management and now do cod.,which is a revelation, Had the Mederteranian chicken kebab, very tasty although salad was fresh could have done with red onion. Fish was hot and cooked well but unfortunately chip a bit cold and soggy. Staff polite and seemed to be learning and I'm sure this chippy will rise in star value. I will look forward to using again in a month or so

Excellent service, Excellent quality best cod I've had in years, it comes with a slice of lemon and tartar sauce!!

After having a not so nice fish n chips from here some months ago now, I decided to try again. There is a new manager who was very friendly. The fish was cooked to perfection and the chips were light and crispy with no excess oil. It was the best fish n chips I've had for a very long time. Service was very good. Well done all! I will be coming back for more :)

Little late with this one called in for a nice big fish and chips early September .Was very pleasantly surprised by the non greasy and fresh by the sea flavour of the meal . Just at that time I was fortunate to be able to talk to the owner and his manager and noted that they are very keen on their work and we are very proud of working in Duffield . Less than the cost of two pints of beer 👍 M Shaw

Called In today not knowing where to eat but found this fabulous Chip Shop. Quality/quantity and 2 excellent chaps running the place who took time out to talk. There was so much food I made it last 2 meals. Ten out of ten, I will return. Thankyou👌

Excellent fish, chips and curry sauce! I can tell you from experience of owning & running a fish and chip shop that had excellent reviews its difficult to get consistent quality from a natural product this has been achieved and to top it off a friendly environment.. We will be calling in again. Well done.

Great to see this place open again, decent fish and chips cooked fresh.

Under new management now (Pas's Place has taken over). Food is as good as Pas's ever was, but service is slow. A queue of 9 people should not take 40+ minutes to work through. Hopefully this will get faster as the staff get more experience.

Other than Whitby, this place is right up there with the best fish and chips shops I've ever been to!

Just passed this great little chippy when travelling through Duffield. Found out only open a couple of days under new management. Service was great but the food was the winner. Had fish and chips and wife had chicken kebab. Portion sizes were bang on and food was fresh. Fish cooked whilst we waited. Will definitely return when in the area

The chippy has reopened after new owners took it over and undergone a new refurbishment which has given it a fresh new look. Just had our first meal from here and enjoyed it. I would have taken photos of it but I was too hungry :-)

We always get our fish and chips from here and it is consistently good. Last night we decided to try their kebab box, it was fantastic! We got the mixed kebab box, this included two types of chicken, lamb donner meat and chips inside a pizza box. The pitas, salad, meat and sauce were excellent. The best kebab I have had in a long time. It was also such a treat to have lovely chip shop chips with it. I will definitely get kebabs from here again. I am already looking forward to next weekend, where I can order the same!

Top stuff. Went here a few weeks ago and just bought a large chips between two people and the bag still weighed down one side of my car with the sheer mass of potato - just about got through it all! Owner is really nice as well, let us take some sturdier forks and napkins as we were taking it back to a hotel. Just the job!

Great tasting food and for a cheap price

The owner/manager always remembers our faces and choices when we come in, even when we haven't been for months! The chips are nice and crispy unless you go in at the end of the night and they offer free sauces to top it off! Garlic mayonnaise is my favourite!

Chips are always very bitty and cold by the time I get round the corner and the fish is very average at best. We've stopped going now as its happened a few times when the food as been sub standard.
