Good service, long wait at times for food

Amazing Place, good good, it's cheap, had good service, and the atmosphere was really good!

We booked a table of 4 for 4pm today (christmas day) was not told on booking and when we paid deposit that we was going to be kicked out at half 5 even though we didn't get starters till quarter past 4 and queuing up at the carvery in thus time,carvery was not the best,the only thing that was hot was the plates,roast potatoes anemic,after we finished desserts and cleared,was not even asked if we wanted anymore drinks or coffee,just given the drinks bill at ten past 5,we asked for more drinks,2 coffees and 2 drinks,coffees came but not the other two drinks,my son had to go and see what the hold up was,by 5.25pm,staff was clearing up,turning off the christmas tree in the conservatory area where we was seated,staff kept hovering to see if we had finished,5.40pm we was told that they was locking up to spend the rest of Christmas with there families,when we queried with one of the staff we was told that we had been there 2 hours even though we had been there not even a hour and a half,we found the member of staff to be very rude,on leaving there was a couple in the bar area. The whole experience had put a dampner on our christmas lunch. I would like the manager to respond to this review if bothered.

Went for family after christmas meal , not very good is an understatement, there was 22 of us we was told you can have normal menu , carvery or festive menu thought Brill, choose carvery went up nothing left hardly and what was left looked like it had been to the Caribbean on holiday ! Also went to the bar for drinks only to be told to sit down like school children , it was table service !

Just sooo poor. Awful food awful service (slow and not enough people) food randomly arrives and is just poor quality in every regard. Drive on and find somewhere else.

Not quite sure where to start, we come here alot and have never had a bad meal but the last two times we have been 8th November and again on Christmas Eve the meal on the 8th November it was my husbands gammon that was inedible but mine and my mothers scampi was lovely so we just put it down to an off day, but on Christmas Eve having had this booked in since September we where put in the end section where a young lady took ages to come to our table for our order for the starters, there was four of us three had prawn cocktails, 1 had then chicken starter, I have never had a prawn cocktail that consisted only of leaves not (iceberg lettuce) but tasteless leaves, no cucumber, no tomatoe, with a few prawns on top, it wasn't nice at all we all three left it only picking off the prawns, apparently the chicken was nice, the mains, it took quite a while for the young lady to realise that we had finished and she could come and clear away and bring the main courses, one had off the menu and three had the festive, my husband had the fish and chips, the fish batter was apparently not cooked and the fish was cold, ine had the festive burger which was lovely, two had the Christmas dinner, the turkey was awful we both tried a tiny bit and left the rest, the pigs in blankets where inedible, the only thing we did eat on the entire plate was a bit of roast potato and the Yorkshire pudding, we asked the young lady if she could clear the table as we where done and the meat we would like to take home for the dog, and we would like to order desserts, she took away two plates and didn't return after a good 10 - 15 minutes later I went to go up to the bar to order as we really wanted to go, she saw me as she was stood talking, she came then to the table and said she had forgotten about us, she took our dessert orders, the desserts where lovely when they came out. We would normally leave a tip but with the service we got and the food as it was we didn't, if the restaurant had been busy I could have understood the waiting but it wasn't at all busy we have been in when it has been alot busier and never had to wait like we did Christmas Eve and we have also been two other Christmas Eves and they had been great as well has the food not quite sure what's happened

Excellent service and food for Christmas day.

Food was good but the organisation was awful. There were 25 of us, it all ended in chaos when one of our family got told off for having noisy kids and she went out crying, then nobody could work out the bill and this ruined everything. That's 25 people not going back there again.

Went for a family Christmas get-together. Pie was good, would have liked more mash, its pub grub not fine dining. The disappointment was my daughter leaving in twars after being told to contain her children (her son has adhd), they ran around a little. Working who paid for what on the bill was a struggle, was told flatly we couldn't pay as individual groups.

When you want good food great service you wont go wrong at this venue .Basically the consistency is outstanding. The staff are a delight and service with a smile from the management down to the trainees is very comforting. Great sekection on the menue to suit everyones taste.Get yourself down there you wont be disapointed. A big shout out to all the waiting staff, Come on Whitbred give them a early xmas present they are a credit to your company values 10/10.

Manager was quite abrupt, felt like we were being watched, to say we are pensioners. Hardly going to over eat!!! hot buffet was luke warm, wont be returning

Just not my my kinda place a but that' not to say it wont be yours. Lots of value pricing and occasion deals. These formulaic supermarket type eatery chains so popular in the UK are not for me but you more or less know what your getting.

Reasonable food and drink I would go again and have many times

I thoroughly enjoyed the carvery today; it was wonderful once again. The dessert was delightful as well, and I must commend Saskia for her pleasant service. Her warm and attentive approach truly added a genuine touch to the experience.

It's your classic cookie cutter restaurant next to a travel lodge. Nothing out of the ordinary and perfectly average. Table service is basic but effective, and the atmosphere is dull and fabricated. It is what it is.... staff are helpful and polite but dont seek out opportunity to bring the experience up a notch. Just my opinion and experience. It might be what your after....

Went the day before was highly impressed, my brother decided to stay an extra day on the strength of the quality of the service. So I went again the next day to see if it was good it did not disappoint.

Absolute rubbish, won't be going back, staff were asleep, and the carvery was useless. Asked for an adult serving got what looked like a kids plate. Alsdo asked for some pinker beef and was told sorry this is all there us and can't bring another one out till its gone. Customer service none existent in my eyes.

Food was awful, the fish tasted like charcoal but was gooey inside it really wasn’t good. Kids meals were burnt, staff were really rude especially the 2 blonde members of staff. Stood complaining about the fact we complained right infront of us. I’ve never visited anywhere where the staff have been so rude I definitely would avoid. Steaks were ok if you don’t mind a bit of jaw ache after visiting, coleslaw smelt off and tasted even worse. Safe to say we didn’t stay for puddings. Staff took no responsibility for the awful food!

Good food with a wide selection.

Really enjoyed the Sunday carvery great choice of vegetables alongside the usual choices of beef and turkey ect. The only downside is if you are not arriving by car as had difficulty finding the way in from the path by Sainsbury's. Well worth a visit for the carvery though.

Had a fried breakfast and it was 100%

We came here for my brother's birthday! It was absolutely incredible, staff were nice, the atmosphere was great and the food was incredible! One of the members of staff- Rebecca- gave a word to the chefs and they made a custom birthday treat for my brother.

Met with some family had some food it came quick, cheap prices good discounts and ok food not bad at all for a last minute meal. Parking was a little confusing just park in the premier in car park and then enter your vehicle number plate at the entrance of the cookhouse.

Good food, clean and tidy restaurant and overall a great experience. The staff here are exceptional; service with a smile, professional and attentive. Lauren is stand-out! She looked after us on two consecutive Sunday Lunch visits and her positive , nothing is too much trouble attitude, made our visit all the more great! Thank you Lauren and the team.

Much better venue since this amazing refresh! My wife and I come here quite a lot, she favours the small plates in particular the Jerk Chicken. I love the flatbreads! The venue is nice inside and the staff are always friendly. Even when we accidentally went in one Sunday between breakfast and lunch when they weren’t actually serving, we still got drinks. Highly recommend and the cost is excellent. Ps. Adele is one of the best members of staff here and they are all great Updated: 27/10/2024 - Still a brilliant place to go, staff are lovely in particular Lauren, Maria and Adele. 50 minutes waiting for lukewarm food to be brought out isn't acceptable

We visited at 2pm on Sunday. The place being busy is no problem to us, nor is the fact that is a popular family venue. However, when families with children insist on subjecting other diners to the excessive volume of a screen, that is a problem, as well as being very antisocial - a family sitting near to us, had a child who was watching a screen (while supposedly eating food) at HIGH VOLUME. We couldn't hear the background music of the pub, never mind hold a conversation between ourselves. Sadly, if this is now the accepted norm, we will either have to specify we do not want to sit near children or not rush back.

Arrived at 17:10 and was politely informed that they'd stopped serving carvery - although tables around us were still ordering. I wouldn't mind but to have no signage stating this and also the menu states served till 6pm I was very disappointed. By this point after another bad experience a short distance away we just ate here, nearly went next door to the mcd's

Just popped in for a quick bite had a mixed grill have to say it was lovely pleasantly surprised by how nice the skin on fries chips were! Was served by Saskia, she was very friendly and easy to talk too! Received a 25% off coupon for the next time I pop in great stuff!

Would have loved to review - but on a busy Ssturdsy night it was in darkness at 10pm???? Spoke to reception at hotel and apparently they always shut this early despite the fact the hotel gets numerous complaints. Shame!

Excellent value Breakfast , loads of choice.

Three of us had fish and chips, but honestly there was hardly any fish in it, was just batter and bit of fish that was in was hard, couldn’t eat it. Never seen fish looking like an octopus before.Was not worth the money, mushy peas were dry and hard. Won’t be going back, £56 for four of us was totally a waste of money 🤬

Great staff at this place, always happy to help. I didn't realise it was self-service breakfast, and I was alone with my baby. Charlie kindly kept an eye on him so I could grab us breakfast and offered to go up for us. Thanks again!

Adele took great care of us, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, we had chicken pie, a real shortcrust pie full of chicken, a curry which was so tasty with perfectly cooked rice and as I am gluten intollerant I sometimes have problems finding what I want, but I really was spoilt for choice. I had spicy chichen which was excellent. I would really recommend you try Butterley Park, you really can't go wrong.

Lovely girls names was Emily Samia and Ella. Really kind and couldn’t do enough for us. However the manager i believe her name is Emma was really rude and unkind to these girls and even pushed one of them. They deserve better not a nice atmosphere at all.

Usually good. Today not so. Apparantly only had bar seating (half the restaurant was empty) measly meat portions even though we paid for a large carvery. Partner burnt his thumb on one of the serving spoons. Chair completely wonky, upholstery looking very distressed and run down. Pigs in blankets were not in blankets and looked uncooked. Disappointing visit over all

We ate in bar as were told there was no room in restaurant side but there was plenty of uncleared empty tables. The staff were very unhelpful and more or less threw our food on the table, there wasn’t a smile a or a happy face amongst them. we had to ask for both our mains and deserts after waiting an age.The Food was over cooked or reheated not sure which. We have eaten here lots of times in the past and been very happy but it will be a long time before we come back if at all.

7 of us went for food this evening and the service and food was brilliant. Emily the server, is an absolute credit to the place. Always had a smile and was very friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed by all of us

Nice place for food and drinks. Most of the staff seem friendly I've only had an issue with one each of my visits. Foods nice, breakfast seems a little pricey compared but if you can eat everything it's nice. We've never been told about a smaller option but definitely worth an ask. Main meals are all nice, I've never had an issue

Popped in here for a quiet bite to eat the other Saturday around 2pm, this was the first time we visited and we had a very enjoyable meal. Our waitress Emily was lovely, very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The main was good but the pudding was better. They do a proper Jam Roly Poly, something the husband and I haven't had in quite a while and this made our meal all the more enjoyable. It's very often the simple things in life that please the most. I would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely return for another meal. Thank you Butterley Park Cookhouse!

We were seated fairly quickly, but then took ages for someone to take even a drink order. Menu choices were very limited for anyone wishing to have vegetarian options, even more so for vegan or GF. Food was like microwaved ready meals! Couldn't bring myself to finish the meal I'd paid for. Staff asked why I'd left it so I explained, but just got a smirk as a response. Lots of advertisements about a discount if you sign up to their mailing list on their website, but despite doing this no code was provided, and when this was mentioned to staff the response was 'yeah it takes weeks'. Over priced and poor quality

Family meal for Father's Day, Samia gave us excellent service, 1 meal has issues, and ended up choosing something else from the menu. All the other meals we're good. Shame not more vegetarian dishes on the menu, only fish and chips today as sold out of cheese and onion pie

Very pleasant staff, oustandingly so infact, food better than expected and plentiful and presented well,shame not more British Meat so limited my options to steak which was no hardship . Decent drinks choice thought nothing local on the beer .

Very average, not busy but seemed to take an age to dicide weather they could accommodate all of us (2). I know it was Saturday but really a welcome smile goes a long way. Food was ok ,mash was smash and could of taken some more water. Scampi portion was 8 pieces and only a few chips. Shame since lock down chain pubs seem to have dumbed down on quality and portion sizes.

Nice pub/Restaurant. Staff friendly. Food not hot served on room temperature plate tasted nice, very nice sweet for afters. Only passing through so probably won't be back.

Dropped in for a late evening drink just as the restaurant was closing. It was not open till 11pm. Lovely friendly helpful staff who served us at our table. It was clean airy comfortable and outside seating was also very inviting.

We met friends for breakfast this morning. The breakfast was really good. Buffet style with lots of choice. I'm dairy intolerant which was no problem with lots of choice and soya milk available.

After a walk every Sunday we call in the Cookhouse for a carvery,the staff are always friendly and helpful. A good choice of meat and vegetables at a reasonable price. We have never been disappointed with our meal. Recommended booking to ensure getting a table.

Well we're do I start our waitress was lovely didn't catch her name though now for the food we had the two for 10.99 menu had the toasted club sandwich this is the first time I have ever had undercooked toast that was rock hard our other friend order on main menu as veggie she had the potato and onion pie she asked for no gravy but extra peas it came with gravy and about 20 peas she paid full price for this 11.79 cold chips she could have had same on 2 for 10.99 menu it was total unacceptable don't bother wasting money on the puddings either at 2.99 they wasn't worth it we been here before and been very happy with it but won't be going back

We visit this establishment quite frequently as a child friendly meet point. Food is consistent and quite budget friendly. Sometimes service is slow at busy times but not unexpectedly. Generally we always pick the same from the menu. Steaks are hit and miss and feel like cheap cuts of meat, no matter how they're cooked it's never going to be a great one. Fish and chips never seems to dissapoint and out kids always go for the kids bolognaise. They also accept blue light card which is a winner

Great value breakfast, 2 children and 2 adults. We're always up early so it's great to have somewhere that's such good value for food. Staff are always really accommodating It's definitely our favourite breakfast place

Every time we have been for breakfast here it's been great the food is nice and so are the staff however... every time we go to this place for any food there than breakfast the food cooked is of poor quality but similar prices to any other chain pub/restaurant the staff are still friendly and the food is still edible just not great

Tables for one perfect for business travelers. Food is good ,served fresh and hot. You order at the table from a server, who also checked back on me during the meal. There is no app .no going to the bar then back because you need a table number no online payment to set up . Great no fuss experience⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'm very disappointed this time. We've eaten here loads of times, but the last visit was not a good experience. Peas cooked to death, soggy yet over cooked chips. Curry was spoiled by excess water in the dish, which watered down the curry. Full refund was given for food, but won't be going again.

Nice clean pub/ restaurant,nice friendly staff, food tasty,had a Sunday carvery, son had beer battered chicken burger with fries, deducted 1 star because cutlery / forks were bent and nasty quality even straight ones horrible to eat with ? YOU SHOULD BOOK TABLE queue out of door, very slow to book in and seat even when table booked? UPDATE last two visits awful , food & service

Butterley Park Cookhouse is more a place for families and friends to eat out . It's a spacious, clean , nice atmosphere friendly service. The foods nothing exiting, I'd say, mainly frozen food heated in ovens and microwave. I had a burger, not the best out of 10. I'd rate it 4 . Im quite happy to pay for a quality meal. This wasn't and wasn't worth the price.

Terrible service. They just want to stand at the bar chatting. Also shutting the pub at 9:45 when people are paying to stay in the hotel next door and should be accommodating till a proper last orders time at least

Firstly I would like to say that our server, Charlie was fantastic. Very polite and friendly, she is a real diamond, I would very much like my comments to be passed onto her. In terms of atmosphere there was a sports event being shown on the tv and the volume was quite loud. Not being viewers of tv sport we felt this was a little bit inappropriate. The food was adequate
