Such a wonderful place. I held my parents Golden Wedding Anniversary here on 17/02/2024. Lisa the landlady did a delicious buffet for us with hot and cold food. And also at a great price. We had a theatre company perform some entertainment and they used part of the pub as their stage area. There was still plenty of room for the guests. Lisa and Izzy were absolutely wonderful hosts and took care of us superbly and nothing was too much trouble. The pub has a tiny carpark but it's better to park on the street outside. There is a lovely smoking area and a pub garden for when it's warmer. The pub has a calming atmosphere and is wonderfully decorated, there are even books lining all the windowsills. I wouldn't hesitate to visit The Three Cranes again, whether it is for a meal, a drink or to hold a private party. You should to. 💜

Situated in a small village outside Kettering you will need to drive or taxi there.Visited on a Saturday night when a Blues Group were playing. Very cramped, it isn’t the biggest of places but the table were all taken by diners and the top end of the bar by the group’s equipment. All very close together.Had to sit in the small conservatory area off the side – felt really out of it – couldn’t see the group and had to push by people to get out and to the bar.Pleasant enough staff but the place isn’t big enough for this sort of thing, either you do meals or just have drinking when entertainment is on. Nice garden for the summer months.Little parking, it’s in the street.

My friend booked for five golfers to have a meal and drinks for our Pre Xmas get together. When we arrived the barmaid told us that the chef / landlady hadn’t turned up and wasn’t answering her phone, even after ten calls. I’m not sure how anyone can run a business nowadays whilst showing a total lack of interest towards customers who had taken the time to prebook. I will add that there was nobody in the pub at the time so I would’ve thought that a booking for five hungry and thirsty men would have been their best booking of the day, needless to say we didn’t stay for drinks and won’t be going back.

Keen to visit following the refurb, with a view to booking for a family dinner in the future. My comments, to be fair, reflect a mid- week, early evening experience with only one other couple there - Disappointed by the brightly lit bar area and staff member and friends loudly chatting, which made us reluctant to sit in that area. Bar person was helpful. Other staff member openly mocked a customer after a call to make a booking. Other staff person referred to another as being ‘arsey’ and a storming out occurred , banging the door against the wall upon exiting. We may as well had not been there and left after one drink.

This pub is situated in the tranquil village of Cransley and is a short distanced walk, if you are in one of the nearby villages that is. If not, you’ll need to book a taxi or have a designated driver to try all the local beers and variety of gins on offer! Not to mention, if you’re a vino lover (like myself), there is a wine tasting evening every first Thursday of the month! The pub has recently undergone some changes and now has new management. On arrival, you’ll be greeted by Mel or one her team members. From the get-go, you’ll instantly pick up on the warm, friendly atmosphere and this continues throughout your visit. This makes for an pleasant and enjoyable visit. We found the menu to have plenty of choices and they will accommodate the most fussy eater going. Not to mention, the food itself is delicious and the portion sizes were very generous also.We will be back! Please note, the pub is dog friendly.

We don’t have a lot of money but decided to treat ourselves for Easter Sunday. What a mistake! Been waiting nearly two weeks for a refund for a meal that never turned up. It was an absolute farce and badly organised from start to finish. The owner promised a refund in writing, firstly he said I couldn’t have it via my card as their pdq didn’t issue refunds, then he said it would be posted through my door (never came), then he said it would now be issued through their pdq into my account but never arrived. Beware - order at your own risk.

Visited here early on a Saturday evening. First impressions were good - nice looking place with a roaring log fire. Owner was welcoming and made the food sound delicious. We sat in the lounge area while the young barman/waiter took our orders. The Scotch egg starter, Japanese noodles and chicken stew were all described as bring out of this world. Couldn't wait!Orders taken, we were then moved into a cold corner of the bar/restaurant and waited for our food. Scotch egg was nothing special, and the prawns arrived in a bowl of bubbling garlic infused oil which made them rubbery and over cooked. We then waited for the main courses. And we waited. And we waited a bit more. Eventually they were brought out one at a time, with anything from 3 to 5 minute intervals between each one. If the first person to have got their meal started when it arrived, he would have finished before the last person got theirs. They had to start eating otherwise if we'd have waited it would have been cold.On to the food - the pies, if intact, looked like a Pukka pie. One had collapsed and looked like it had fallen apart getting it out of the foil dish - just a selection of bits of pastry and a few bits of meat. One that was intact looked OK. The beef stew with dumplings was bland, the meat a bit chewy and the dumplings hard. The chicken stew, described brilliantly at the start by the owner, was very disappointing. Bland, no hint of the flavours we were expecting and again the dumplings over done.Despite saying they have vegetarian and vegan options, they didn't - unless you count extra vegetables and mash as that. One of our party must have asked three times for a bottle of fizzy water. It eventually arrived, not in a bottle but in a glass (apparently they didn't have any bottles!).On to the puddings - or lack of them. We were asked if we wanted to look at the dessert menu, only to be told a few minutes later that they didn't have any! Instead, the waiter came out with a (very) small selection of four puddings - a chocolate one, some kind of cheese cake, and a couple of others. They wouldn't have been enough to feed a family of barn mice, let alone 9 adults.OK, let's finish with coffee then. We asked the waiter if we could get some coffee - ten minutes later we look for him, only to see him drying cutlery. We asked for the bill - amazingly this arrived within seconds. Just over £170 for nine people plus drinks.A very disappointing experience, especially after the first impressions. And they can't say they were busy because we were the only people there, apart from a couple drinking by the fire when we left.I would give up trying to be a gastro pub and stick to proper, home cooked pub food.

A search in the Good Pub Guide in order to book a last minute table on 21st December led us to this newly reopened, unpretentious pub midway between our 2 family homes. On the phone, the owner described the food as good, homemade british pub food and our experience bore out that description. On arrival, we were made very welcome by the owner and the service was efficient an unobtrusive. Beers, g&t and wine were ordered first, they were very palatable and served promptly. All parts of our 3 course meals (see below) were well cooked, delicious and presented to a much higher standard than the average pub grub. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. We can thoroughly recommend this establishment.

Great place to sit if you want to wear your coat hat and gloves for a pint. Heating not on, when mentioned the girl behind the bar said she didn't know how to do it. Was 4 degrees outside last night when we decided to support one of our local pubs that had reopened. We asked what the two ales were on tap just to get a blank look. Please go to the Fox at Carlton or the Pheasant in Wellington Shropshire to see how a pub should be run. Very disappointed. Lovely beer but unfortunately got tainted by the smell of air freshener being blasted around - we were the only two people who walked in apart from a couple who walked in 20 mins later and didn't take their hats or coats off either. Month before Xmas and all there was was a fire lit we were practically sitting on it. It's hard for any country pub to keep going, things like this make it harder.

Delighted to find out that the Three Cranes had reopened and was serving food as it used to be one of our go to places for good pub grub. Decided to try it out on Halloween night and were not disappointed. We were surprised that the pub was so empty but very pleased with the food. We tried the standard burger and also ham,egg and chips. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. I must make separate mention of the chips. These are wonderful. Like all the food they seem to be home made and not bought in frozen and therefore taste much like chip shop chips.Sincerely hope that this pub survives and does well as we certainly want to return many times to this wonderful hidden gem.

9 of us booked a table for a family birthday on a Saturday evening (10th Feb). Our family can be quite a challenge for any chef as, between us, we have one coeliac, one who has to be both gluten and dairy free, and myself who has to be dairy free! For anyone who has allergies you will know how the knowledge of the chef, and the willingness of the waiting staff to attend to your needs, can either make or ruin your evening. From the moment we were given the menus, and it was all explained to us by the very professional and competent staff, we knew we could relax (and not worry whether a bit of gluten would sneak into the food). There was an amazing choice for both gluten free and dairy free. My dessert was so tasty!.

Staying in Northamptonshire for the week and went to the 3 Cranes on the strength of the reviews. The customer service was very good from start to finish, the food was somewhat hit and miss the fish dish being served tepid which took away some of the eating quality, the prawn sauce was overpowering and fairly unpleasant in taste. The Venison burger was very tasty and every mouthful enjoyed, this was accompanied by sweet potato chips that were greasy. I can't say it was value for money as there were only parts of the meal that were enjoyed. There is also very limited parking in the car park so when busy you would have to park on the street.

A first visit on a busy Saturday night. We booked for 7 o'clock and arrived on time. We were shown to a table with a promise that the waitress would take our drink order. 15 minutes later when one of the party had decided to go to the bar to get us a drink she did return to take an order. Some 5 minutes after that we were asked to confirm which wine was wanted and eventually served with drinks. Our food order was taken and our starter appeared very promptly, just after the couple on the adjacent table were served theirs. At our table we chatted and enjoyed a very good seafood platter between us, admittedly eating very slowly. Before the seafood was all eaten we were asked if we had finished and two of our plates were taken away. After a while more items were taken though the main platter remained on the table. The waitress then returned with two plates of food which she gave to the next table who had finished their soup starter long before we had eaten ours. They pointed out it was not their order and I suggested it was ours. This was indeed correct despite the fact that our starter plates had not yet been entirely cleared. My main course of fish from the specials board was delicious though not as hot as I would have liked ( I do like my food piping hot). Overall very nice food but the service needs considerable work. I feel liaison between waiting staff and kitchen was lacking and judgement on how quickly diners wanted to go through the courses of their dinners was entirely lacking. I would try the Three Cranes again as the food that I had was good, though probably not on a Saturday night. A good restaurant needs to complement its flavoursome food with good service and not have multiple diners feeling that their evening is marred by poor service as was obviously the case from my observations of both our and other tables this evening.

Main thing was the service, eldest person must of been 21, we had to order drinks at the bar as nobody asked us, then waitied for someone to take our order which didn't happen so had to ask at the bar again.... they seemed to shy to ask if we wanted anything. Was expecting good things but just average at best.

Just had a panini for lunch with side salad and the best chips I've tasted in a long time. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely. We plan to eat here again one evening and are looking forward to it

We came here last night for my partners birthday as wanted to try somewhere new. The food is quite pricy but worth it. My partners steak was over cooked & a new one was sent back out very quickly & he was very happy with it. The lady working was lovely & friendly. The interior is very nice. We will be dining here again.

The pub isn't usually open in a Monday, but they had advertised on Facebook that they were open for BBQ and drinks between 12 & 4. It was £10 for adults for the BBQ, salads and a drink. Lovely food we had, a burger, sausage and chicken fillet. They also had vegetarian option of burgers, sausages and vegetable kebabs. Tuna steak was also available.Lovely lunch on a sunny August bank holiday.Thank you James & Danielle. X

Since the last visit some time ago, the place has new ownership and has had a complete internal overhaul. This was just a chance drop in for lunch. Very nice new decor, very friendly staff and an excellent mid week lunch.

I nearly always have the cod and this was the best cod for value for money by far. I would go here every time for fish and chips. Just wonderful!

Use this pub quite lot, with varying results, could not believe it when I visited one evening and all TWELVE real ales were unavailable!! Certain members of staff seemed to find this situation amusing, presumably because no beer means no work.

Disappointing Sunday carvery - roast potatoes were boiled not roasted, skin was left on. The gravy was watery, the Yorkshire pudding was deflated and dense. Only nice thing about it was the meat was cooked nice. We won’t be returning unfortunately.
