Trading Post Pub in Kettering

First class carvery and top notch friendly service, always choose for large family gatherings and am yet to be disappointed

This was a Sunday and my birthday. It was mega busy, probably because it was the end of the month,but all the staff stayed calm, even the poor man all by himself carving the meat. He really could have done with a hand on that counter. I've never queued so long before, but the food was all lovely, and we didn't feel rushed.

We were waiting over an hour for our food and when we asked how long we were told they hadn’t got 2 of the meal orders. They did give us complimentary desert but it was overall not a great visit.

Having been to the Trading Post many times before I was looking forward to my visit. Sadly I was disappointed, the carvery was awful, the beef I could only describe as slimey, it was in edible, the potatoes were black and the gravy brown water. Such a shame as it usually very tasty

Lovely pub with good selection of meals. Good service from staff, only criticism is that for the second time of visiting there was barely any meat left on the carvery and it was the scrappy ends that were served with no fresh meat coming out during our visit. It was the middle of the day so you would expect more meat to be being bought out to provide customers good quality of food.

A warm welcome, immediately shown to our table. Order quickly taken and drinks delivered. Piping hot starters enjoyed, quickly followed by main courses enjoyed by all

It was very busy, but not too long to wait for our food. Glad we arrived slightly early as it got busier hence a longer wait for food. Overall it was a good visit, pleasant staff and good food! Just one thing, salt and pepper pots need refilling more often as our table (30) and the one next to us (29 or 31) were all empty! Couldn’t catch a member of staff to tell them as they were very busy

We visited here on a Friday evening and took advantage of the carvery that was available whilst visiting the area. Being a Friday we prebooked shortly before we arrived to check that a table would be available and had the choice of tables upstairs. Service at the carvery was very quick and we had a good choice of beef, turkey and gammon as well as a wide selectrion of freshly cooked vegetables. We had an enjoyable roast dinner. We would certainly consider revisiting if we were back in the area again.

Seated in the small upstairs section which was ideal as it’s much quieter there. As usual the Carvery offering was excellent coupled with a good selection of fresh vegetables. Will be back soon.

We had carvery and it was amazing, my child doesn't eat meat so was very happy when he got 2 Yorkshire puddings instead, the staff were happy, chatty and always there to help and assist us. We will definitely book again soon

Dinner was not very nice at all, the beef was like leather, the service was slow, the veg was soggy, I really didn't enjoy it 😕

Really fancied a carvery so booked a last minute table. Was initially disappointed as there were only 2 choices of meat - beef and gammon- but was extremely pleased once we began eating as both meats were melt-in-the-mouth tender. Definitely 6best place locally for a lovely roast dinner.

Lovely carvery but long wait for my dessert which was wrong after I had to chase it. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

We were a party of 12. The online booking was easy and quick. The table was ready for us as we arrived it was clean and set up. All the meals came in good time and were enjoyed by all, the staff were friendly, helpful and polite, the table was cleared quickly. Altogether a good experience, will go back.

Booked earlier in the day to arrive at 7pm for carvery. Upon arrival at 6.50pm advised only turkey left. It would be 15-20 minutes before it was ready. We specifically booked here as we thought we could all have carvery with choice of meat. Not so. Ladies toilets one end were closed. The other only one toilet fit for use. The other one unusable due to menstrual blood and faeces all over seat. Poor experience. 3 stars was generous

My husband and I took my son here for Sunday lunch. The food was amazing (we both had the carvery, my son had burger and chips), the service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Lots of families laughing and enjoying lunch together as we were. Very nice day out and we'll all definitely go back

You get your moneys worth food was okay but you can't complain for the price

The cut on your roast is very thin and very small. It’s not worth the money to be honest. I ordered cut of gammon and turkey. The turkey was like bite pieces not even a whole cut. Disappointing for money’s worth.

we use the trading post often depending who is on the carvery sometime we gat a good bit of meats noticed if its someone new or inexperienced then they cant carve and only give very little meat due to not being able to carve. other than that were very happy friendly staff.

Come here a lot for carvery, but very disappointed with the chicken wings. £5.99 for only FOUR pieces of small chicken wings…. What a rip off…Never order this again. Nachos was also disappointing….

We went to the eat breakfast with the Easter bunny event. It was really good. Very well run and the Easter bunny was amazing 🤩

We were running late, but the staff was so accommodating with us when we arrived. Food was great too.

I came a week before and the food and atmosphere was amazing so I came today and ordered a carvery, the meat was minuscule and chewy. The peas looked anemic, the carrots and potatoes looked as though they was picked and not prepared before cooking. Terrible experience

We ordered drinks on the app which we waited 30min for when there wasn't any cues at the bar,we then waited 50min for our food we wasn't told about wait times when we ordered,we ordered 2 burgers which we asked for no lettuce or onions both came with,I had gammon steak and eggs the eggs were over cooked and hard,my gammon was well overcooked I couldn't eat it,my partner had the mixed grill again all over cooked and hard,we never had anyone come and ask how our meal was,u could taste the oil needed changing the chips tasted of old oil

Drinks took 30 mins via app food took one hour everything we ordered was overcooked or burnt and chips very dark and tasted of old oil I did want to speak to the manager but nowhere to be seen

Having regularly visited and enjoyed the food, yesterday’s visit was awful. A sign on the entrance stating seat yourself. Only issue, no seats or tables free. The upstairs balcony closed, the entire back section also closed, that’s why it’s busy. I then see a staff member cleaning a table so we proceed there and in quite an aggressive tone “what are you doing?” Trying to get a table. “Not this one you are not, unless you’ve booked it?” Are any other tables free? “No”. Top customer service there. I am hoping it is a one off but needless to say, I did to hang around to be treated that way. A simple change in attitude would have done.

Unfortunately the whole experience wasn’t good. We booked a table and we were told to follow the front of house lady who wasn’t very welcoming and raced us to our table. We sat at table 16, this area is dire, cold, messy and like a canteen. The queues for the bar to order drinks and food was long and clearly there needs more staff to accommodate guests. We waited 3/4 hour wait for food, a carvery for me, a chicken fried chicken ultimate for my husband. We were told once the chicken burger was nearly ready, I would be ‘told’ to go for my carvery. I was informed the only option available was beef, there was no alternative meat available and offered an alternative off the menu. As I’d seen what looked like a lovely piece of beef, I went up to get my meal although we weren’t informed of the other meal arrival. I am sorry to say my beef was like rubber. It had been cut in half and carved incorrectly, against the grain. My dog enjoyed it though. The ultimate chicken burger was cold and missed the hash brown. The best thing about our dining with you was it was cheap.

Booked a table for 7-15pm expecting to have a carvery. There was only a very small piece of beef left no other meat. Would do just 2 people. The vegetable's looked as tho they had been sitting there for ages. No Yorkshire puddings. Ask waitress if they were filling up the carvery again as it was only 7-25 they said NO, and what was left had been sold. Ordered a medium to rare steak and it came out well done. The only thing that was good was the chocolate fudge cake.

I’m sorry to say the food was barely luke warm and we had a mouldy slice of lemon in one of the drinks. This is the first and last time I will be visiting for food or drink.

There was a table of 15 of us after my mums funeral. Some had carvery some had off the menu. Nobody did any check backs, tables still had plates up until moment's before next course come out, at the carvery 4 of us and a couple from a different table waited nearly 10 mins for vegetables to be brought while we stood there with our meat and Yorkshire on our plates. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire were also too tough to even eat. I really would say it was the worst meal yet at the trading post and none of us will be in a rush to return if at all.

Good pub food in a good pub...Can get very busy so try and book ahead and save a short wait ..

Lovely meet with polite and helpful staff. There were 9 of us and most of us opted for the carvery. The only drawback was that the turkey had run out. Others had the curry and salad. They said the curry was really tasty.

We visit the Trading Post with friends on a regular basis. We always have the carvery as up until today we have all been very pleased with it. Today was a different matter - we were made aware that they were short staffed and it was busy but the meat was cut so thin it was like lace curtains and a very very small portion- we all had the regular plate. Usually there is a good selection of vegetables but today it was peas, carrots, broccoli and cabbage. It can only be described as well below average. We all felt very disappointed and it has made us wonder if we try to find elsewhere to meet. We did use the 30% off mains vouchers but we all felt it wasn’t even worth that. On a positive note the staff were all lovely as per usual.

Food was cold, chips that my wife and one of my 2 boys had were so hard they nearly broke their teeth, to top it off the cokes were flat. We haven't eaten here for maybe 3 years or more due to the fact our previous experience was awful as well, this was for my father in laws birthday. We thought we would try it again as it had been so long, we stupidly thought it might be better food now, how wrong we were, luckily we used the discount offered by the app, although it was still a complete waste of £33.00 that I would rather have used in the local chippy!

Tried to ring the trading post for about an hour and no one picked up the phone so I’ve had to come up here to find out if there’s any availability and if they are playing the football very bad service

I'm profoundly disappointed with today's service at Trading Post. Once a loyal client, my experience has prompted me to reconsider future choices. Attached are two pictures of the same drink on different days. Today's pink gin arrived in a dirty glass with an old lemon, a stark contrast to the excellent service depicted in the previous photo.( and No....was not drinked from first glass...this is how was served) The noticeable difference extends beyond presentation to the staff's attitude, leaving a sour taste despite the enjoyable food. Today's bar service has tainted the overall experience, diminishing the satisfaction of what could have been a pleasant lunch.

how sad that the trading post no longer wants patronage... Loads of empty tables all with reserved on and no one at them. No one meets at the door and no one available to ask for a table... Not able to put a spend amount as hardly got in the door. The cushioned chairs for the elderly all broken on the arms... This was a favourite... Sadly not any more

Had problems with kitchen, called us ahead of arrival to advise Carvery only available. Suited us as was only coming for carvery but appreciated the contact. Carvery plentiful as usual - warm not hot but still enjoyable. Staff welcoming and good service.

2nd visit 1st time roast potatoes all burnt ordered pigs in blankets didnt get them had to remind went today no roast potatoes only 2 types of meat told they were not cooking any more food as extractor broke yet more customers were getting served food

Menu caters for my mum's food allergies

I visited The Trading Post with family members and we were quickly shown to our table by a pleasant member of staff. We ordered a variety of meals including the carvery. As two of our group went up to get their carvery meals the other meals were brought to our table by a very friendly waiter. Lewis, I believe, was his name. He was very helpful in going to fetch more napkins for us at the table and asked us if we needed anything else before going back into the kitchen. The food was lovely, and good portions. The carvery was excellent, only fault was the two small pigs in blankets that had to be ordered separately, at £2.50 didn't seem worth it. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Great venue and excellent service.

Toilets are not great need to be cleaned on the hr and checked. The atmosphere was not brilliant has parents talking down to children. Staff are very polite and welcoming though.

We went as it was a carvery, the ovens weren't working properly so some of us ordered normal, then the carvery opened. The food wasn't very hot. No one came to ask if we were okay. The seat next to me was stained. The toilet cubicle doors made a terrible noise. Pretty average.

Staff at Bar could be a bit politer. The Internet at the Trading post is not very good but they insist you use it to get the information they need knowing full well it won't work then grumble.

Food was lovely and fresh. Had a choice of 3 meats i had all 3 wide range of veg only thing missing for me was roasted parsnips. Service was fantastic and staff were all happy and friendly. Nothing was to much trouble for any member of staff.

We had the carvery. It was awful. The beef was chewy. The vegetables were also under cooked. I was also in a wheelchair which I did inform in the booking and was put on a table where my family had to squeeze past me to get in and out. This dispite tables being available to sit around. Normally I would've complained but I was asked not to by my family. All in all a terrible experience and won't be back again 😡😡😡😡😡😡

The service was awful it took 45 minutes for our food and drink to arrive, even tho the manager said we could only have the table for 1 hour, making us feel very stressed and rushed. And the food was disgusting.

Looking for somewhere else to go for lunch, we thought of Trading Post which my partner had never been to before. I had been here as a child. Incredible service, met by a lovely lady who said just find a seat and come to the bar to order when we were ready. Very friendly staff, especially Lily (who we believe met us at the door), April who served our food and Katie who served us at the bar. Met one of the chefs who was also friendly and appreciative of our thanks and compliments. Plenty of parking. Easy to get to (off A14) beautiful place, decorated so beautifully. Thank you all! Sunday lunch for 4 which was great. First time here and a 200 mile round trip to see family. Was well worth the visit. 3 sizes of Sunday roast available. Choice of meats on a carvery and loads of veg and potatoes. Service with a smile. Serves by molieanne who was wonderfully helpful with a great cheery smile with all my questions. Desserts were great and coffee all to wash it.down with Pub was clean and tidy and very busy. Large carpark as well.

Service was very good.. ladies at desk pleasant and clear in telling you your table. Carvery was nice and chef was pleasant and chatty.. only down side we were upstairs dining and it was very stuffy.. no air up there diners near window didn’t want window open.. other than that we had a nice evening

Best carvery I’ve had in ages. They was fully booked but managed to squeeze us in. I can see why they were fully booked thoroughly enjoyed. Look forward to coming back.

Hi i was treated to a meal for valentines day , i was really looking forward to the carvery but was not impressed with the beef i couldnt even cut it ! it was awful totally put me off. Only had two cakes available so really poor. I would of pointed this out but no one came to ask how our food was.

We had a party of 9 we all had food from the menu, found the rice cold as it had been served on a cold plate.One of the party orderd steak which was sent back as it was tough. Eventually the steak arrived after we had all finished our meal. The steak was still very tough. The gentleman had his money back but it spoilt our night .

Wry poor selection of vegetables, only peas and carrots left. Very little in the way of meats, a small slice of beef left or gammon.

Two of us ate the carvery and while the food was tasty, it wasn’t very hot. We’d ordered pigs in blankets too but only ended up being given 2 each - that seems like nothing for the £5 extra we paid. The other meals came out hot, the kids loved them. It’s great to be informed of when’s best to get the carvery and when the other meals were due out so that we could all eat together. A nice touch. Overall a great experience, food service was quick and a great atmosphere to be eating in.

The staff try their best with a substandard app with an incomplete menu that is full of errors. If you want to be sure that you'll get what you want without 9 extra pieces of garlic bread and burgers without buns best go to the bar. Big thanks to Rosie for sorting, but management... that app shouldn't be that hard.

Visited at 5pm Wednesday (quiz night) told on entrance find a table not reserved (there was one I could find after walking round whole pub) Ordered carvery, tonic and lime (had to ask for slice) tomato juice informed "we have no Worcester sauce" . Carvery very disappointing meat very chewy, vegetables looked like they had been there for ages. Roast potatoes only 7 left swimming in grease. Meal cold. Overall a very bad night

I always get a warm welcome. All the staff are very friendly, that is one of the reasons we keep returning. The food is always constantly good, and the prices are very reasonable. I don’t think they can improve on their service or food. Have been going to The Trading Post for years, and will continue to do so.

We had quick service We had a incident with a burger but Dan rectified it immediately The chefs on today were spot on And I came new yr and had sherry trifle cheesecake thought it was only festive menu so was happy when I saw it on menu This is one pud u could die for xxx Well done again guys and see u soon

An overall brilliant service as always. Food was very tasty,another large plate for myself. My mum was very pleased with food also,and the fact that a steak knife was provided by staff to assist with her meal as she has Parkinson's and sometimes struggles. The carvery is always great, we receive friendly service and good value for money making the Trading Post an excellent choice for a cooked meal that has been freshly prepared for us to enjoy. I would recommend it it to other and they will not be disappointed. On a cold winter's day it was warm and inviting to dine at the Trading post. No washing up either is a bonus and a lovely treat to have a roast meal served quickly and efficiently. No complaints! a small luxury I would say to be savoured.

Went early evening on a Friday and it was very busy, would recommend booking a table. Menu seemed decent, with a good range of choices to suit all, all the typical food you would expect. However, at £7.99 I went for the standard plate carvery. You get a Yorkshire pudding, 3 slices of meat (choice of turkey, beef or gammon on my night), and ask the vegetables and potato's you can eat, plus you can go back for more veg/spuds. All in all one of the better carverys I have had.

. won't be going back ,when our food finally arrived the order was wrong ,as we had waited an age we just let it go . The whole upstairs was dirty, holes in the wall, dirty cutlery and sticky table tops, other customers were having to clear there own tables before they could sit down, We wanted to go to the other Marston's pub in Kettering but couldn't book a table now I know why!. Won't be going back in a hurry

I ordered the chicken and bacon salad nothing as described on menu no quinoa kale or soya beans no crispy onions on top had to ask for dressing as no dressing on salad for £12.50 very very poor
