Trading Post Pub in Kettering

We visited here recently for my dad’s 60th birthday celebrations, we had a table booked which was really easy to book and meant no waiting around when we arrived. We were a party of 7 including 2 children, one child wanted fish off the bigger appetites which was unavailable, they then chose to have the scampi from the bigger appetites which was around £8.99 and the portion was absolutely tiny and the plate very hot which wasn’t advised by the waiter. 5 of us ordered carvery which was very nice and enjoyable, only a very minor downside was there could have been more vegetables available. We then had puddings which again were very enjoyable, overall just a couple of minor issues but it didn’t stop us having a nice time.

Very disappointed with the food . We arranged to meet friends there and raved to them about the menu and well known carvery . But we haven’t been for a good while . My son , now 17, has been going since he was in nappies ! The food was dry and brittle . All over cooked including the veg . Peas were shrivelled . We had a tea spoon each .We had booked for the carvery but it was nearly all gone by 7 ( finishes at 8pm ). There was No turkey and no fresh veg coming out of the kitchen . The place in general looked tatty and run down . Ripped seats and no matching sets of chairs around the tables . I would say it’s probably changed hands several times from back in the day ( when it was a bonza find). My glass had someone else’s lipstick on it ! Sorry but it’s a no from me Simon. Definitely needs some love injected.

Lovely meal as always Plenty to choose from however we go on a Sunday for the carvery .A monthly vist that is lovely every time. Friendly staff and nice relaxed pub closed to home

Sunday carvery was very nice! I wasn’t expecting a lot, but it was all lovely. Meat - in particularly the pork, was delicious. Service was quick despite it being a busy Sunday, staff were friendly, and everything was clean and tidy. Would come back,

Lovely carvery, and very filling! Three choices of meat, lots of 'trimmings'. I opted for a small plate and it was more than enough. Will definitely visit again.

A great place for a family meal, lovely friendly helpful staff offering great service and great food.

Food took 35 minutes to arrive. Burgers were very chargrilled and burnt and thats all we could taste.Didn't have time to return them as we had theatre tickets and we running out of time. Very noisy

We had a lovely meal, and all staff we came into contact with was very polite and helpful, first time here was visiting the area, would go back again.

Booked a table for 17 for a 70th birthday with ages ranging from 18 months to 70 !! Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful which made it a truly special experience and lovely celebration. Food was excellent and piping hot. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend!

As usual it was busy in there which meant there was a wait to order food and drinks. Once food order was placed we were able to enjoy the carvery straight away 😋 My only whinge was that the slices of meat were on the thin side (have been to other carveries where the slices are thicker). But the service, variety of vegetable dishes and dessert menu options are good 😊 left feeling satisfyingly full!

Very busy so glad we booked. We had the carvery it was all very nice. With it being so busy they were keeping up with bringing fresh vegetables etc. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

All the newer staff that have made a positive impact have made the training post a far better environment! The Poker nights are great, food is delicious and a warm place to be. (They also let you bring your dog in) another reason to go!

Came here for dinner with my grandparents. There was a vast choice on the menu and plenty i could have as a vegetarian. The meals did take quite a long time to come out, which is why i knocked off a star, however it was at a peak time.

Unfortunately like our previous visit we had to wait to check in for our reservation, wait at the bar to be served and wait for our food to arrive, there was 7 of us eating and the first meal to arrive was finished by the time the last one arrived

I booked online, easy to book. The carvery we had, it's was 11 out of 10.the staff are very helpful. Trading post is a great pub.

Ordered steak medium rare was burnt sausage burnt ,told waitress never came back £17 for the worst mixed grill ever had will not be returning there.

We looked at carvery and decided it looked like it had been there since lunchtime. We opted for mixed grill average chicken looked pale, steak overcooked for rare, arrived with no fried egg which came after, sausages were cremated. Staff helpfully and friendly. Sadly 10 years ago this used to be the best carvery in Kettering certainly not now.

Tried to order on the app it was just spinning on the payment page forever so ended up going to order at the bar. Ordered food, we had mac and cheese which was lukewarm inside also had the soup which had been sat under the warmer for a long while that the butter had melted to a runny mess when opened, the advertised half a baguette was 2 small slices of baguette that were dry. Over all not the best experience and the waiting staff were too busy to check back on us.

Cheeseburger was burnt to a crisp. Was sat on a tiny table for grown men, like a kids table with wooden chairs. Meanwhile loads of comforted chairs/tables around empty. Assume the waiter just thought oh 3 guys let's just shove them on the bad table. Took an hour to be given our burnt burgers and 10 chips for £13. Biting into the burgers was like biting into a rock. Horrendous.

Had to wait over an our for our food, one meal came out 10 minutes after the other. Steak was tough and gristly soggy chips

Had a lovely carvery here today. The beef was so tender. Plenty of fresh vegetables and a nice big Yorkshire pudding. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Will be here again soon.

On this occasion just popped in for a Guinness.

First time here on our way out of Kettering back to London. Had a great carvery and enjoyed it a lot. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Food portion was tiny had half a portion of fries and tasted like reheated McDonald’s fries burger was ok but smaller than normal and had to wait 40 minutes for it to come out. Was not worth the £13.

Had a Family Lunch Today food and service excellent thanks to all.x

We arranged a New Year's Day carvery with family. Unfortunately, at just gone 4.30 they announced they had no meat ready for 2 hours! We could see other tables ordering off the main menu and their meals were coming out 5/10 minutes apart. We decided to leave, which ruined our day. The Carvery counter was covered in meat crumbs and not even cleared up ready for when the carvey would commence again. We could see they were probably short-staffed; however, that doesn't excuse the poor service. At no time did anyone come to our table to explain the situation and apologise. Very disappointing.

Lovely carvery. The staff was pleasant. Ordered a carvery and the apple crumble with ice cream. Went and got the carvery only to return to my table and find the desert already on the table. Ice cream had melted by the time I got to eat the dessert.

Today me and my family decided to go for dinner at the trading post we booked a table for 3 adults and 1 child we got seated quickly which was good but then our 4 year old child doesn't eat carvery so we ordered her something from the menu and the rest of us had carvery we decided to wait for our daughters food to arrive before we got ours so we could all eat together , we then had to wait 40 minutes for 3 chicken dippers and chips then a waiter came to us and said our daughters food will be coming out soon so you can go up to the carvery when we went up there was no carvery left no meat and hardly no veg we then asked the manager and she said there's nothing they can do about that and that we would just have to order food my mother was a diabetic and needed to eat fast so we just ordered something but was extremely disappointed as we came just for carvery but then we had to wait another 40 minutes for our food which was Luke warm for over 60 pounds we was extremely disappointed and when we asked later if there was anything that could be done as this had ruined our new years dinner a new lot of carvery came out which we never got told about it was absolutely shocking

We (6 of us) were reserved a cosy nook where we had a carvery, several rounds of drinks and dessert. We stayed several hours and were made very welcome.

Amazing carvery!! Great that they had festive veg such as Brussel sprouts, red cabbage and roast parsnips (my fave). While still having the normal veg such as peas and carrots. Roasties, Yorkshire, stuffing, cauliflower cheese and meat were all delicious! Service was really good, the app is so convenient too.

On arrival the table was festively decorated. Staff pleasent and efficient and the 3 courses for 6 people were delivered correctly with no delays. The food was excellent with no complaints from anyone in our party. Our thanks to the staff for a very enjoyable evening.

Had our Christmas Day dinner here to treat my mother. We all enjoyed it and will probably book next year. Staff excellent and absolutely no problems. Recommended .

We booked our table for Christmas and it was great for the occasion. Lovely family pub and always busy and popular with people of all ages, I ordered a lamb shank, decent size and help yourself vegetables and gravy at the carvery station, service was good and staff are always helpful and friendly, two thumbs up

One of the first tables of the day and the pre order was wrong, ended up with no pudding as apparently no spare of what I ordered. After 20+ years in hospitality I find it hard to belive only the exact amount was ordered for the day. Especially with "a few walk in tables up stairs"

Had a lovely BH meal of Lamb shank ,it fell off the bone it was delicious .

We were welcomed by very happy friendly staff at the door, it was very well organised with a full allergen menu and staff well informed about allergens. Food was lovely and service was very efficient. We were mainly looked after by a very friendly lady called April who made our Christmas dinner experience fantastic. We will defiantly come again thank you everyone

Not good and certainly won't return for a party booking as they are really not set up for thus.

The food was very good and the service was excellent, your drinks are expensive but your post mix drinks are just too expensive. This is the main reason we don't visit more often.

A party of 5 arrived slightly early for their reservation with multiple free tables around, we were told to wait for a table to be free. After waiting for 6 minutes we were able to order a drink from the bar. We all ordered carvery and the roast potatoes were raw on the inside, the stuffing was overcooked, all meats were extremely dry. There was only a few parsnips on offer and they were all greasy and burnt. Ordered puddings through the app to be told afterwards they had no carrot cake so opted for the chocolate explosion which was extremely dry. After mentioning this to the waitress, she laughed at us and just said “Sorry” and walked off. Very disappointed and won’t be returning in a hurry

Shame to carvery was very limited and cold.

My wife and I had a great Christmas Meal with our friends at the Kettering Labour Party at the Trading Post near the A14. It was lovely to just sit and chat and be served by really attentive staff.

Was a lovely round table for a family of 6, service at the bar was a bit slow & waited a while for the food, but was very nice & worth the wair

The location was handy after a visit to the theatre. It was nice and warm inside, generally clean. We were able to get a table although we hadn't booked. Unfortunately, the food took approx 45 mins to arrive (2 adult and 2 children meals). The children's meals were average, the adult meals were poor. The chicken burger was over cooked and dry, came with no salad and the fries were greasy and overcooked. You couldn't taste any of the potato, it was just crisp. Due to the wait for the food we weren't able to enjoy our dessert at the pub as the kids were now agitated so had to take the pudding home with us. Wouldn't return although the staff were polite.

We arrived at 12:00 on a Saturday for a family lunch. It was quiet and the staff were finishing set up for what promised to be a busy day. Our table was quickly prepared and bar drinks service was quick and polite. Our menu choices included carvery and table served options, including children’s meals. We were advised to get carvery meals to be timed with the table served options, a good point. The food was good and served hot, unfortunately on cold plates, a particular dislike of mine. Not an issue for the children’s meals as a cold plate is more appropriate. The food was excellent, and the drinks, at very reasonable prices. See you again, for sure.

Short staffed, this is a regular occurrence. Lovely staff that was in, carvery was great. Coffee machine was broken again, a regular occurrence. Long wait at the bar and for food, again regular occurrence if you get there after 12.30! Very sad as it’s a lovely pub but appears to be going down hill fast! Definitely needs more staff.

Fantastic pub. The beer was spot on, as was the friendliness of the staff, but more importantly, the Carvery was exceptionally wonderful. The choice of meat and veg was excellent and the Yorkshire puds something entirely huge. Maybe a slightly thicker gravy, but that's more if a personal preference than a criticism. A must try for anybody nearby, parties or just passing.

Carvery was an excellent price & had everything you needed. Had to wait a longish time for pudding but lovely server checked for us where it was. Staff our friendly and can’t do enough for you. Overall good experience and would come again.

Hmmm, we were looking forward to our lunch. We arrived and promptly seated. We ordered carvery, but there was no indication of when to go up. One staff member said we would be called. After 30 minutes of waiting we asked when we could go and was told we could have when we got our receipt. Meat and veg were overcooked. Doubt I will return. It was OK. Nothing more

Absolutely shocking!! Spent over £100 and that was with a refund on one meal. I only ate mine as I was that hungry! Ordered the food and the deserts came out after about 30 minutes. And hadn't even been given the starters yet! Starters came out that was ok probably because we was all that hungry!! Then the mains come out and I think the burgers had been sitting in the grill since November! The partner couldn't eat hers !! The kids only eaten it it because they was starving.. then then deserts!! OMG. How can you have chocolate fudge cake that is that cremated!!! Reminded me of my grandads funeral!! But it is a bonus. To know that I won't be eating there again. THANKS. NOT!!

Service slow but acceptable given the time of year.

Making a reservation on line was easy. The pub was not too busy. It was pleasantly warm on a cold evening. The food was served promptly and was very good.

The food was cold which could have made such a difference if it was hot!

Walk in to the tradepost todsy were go to sit the area and the smell so walk round see were we cud sit we end up sitting down the bottom were it smell lot better the manger just look at us di ask wot the problem was

This place was very disappointing, food was not good, chip's over cooked,, kebab was rubbish. more meat on a butcher pencil, so you could say pitta bread and chips, the burger had a foil top out of a sauce bottle in it ,, over priced second rate food ,,,,

It's OK, would recommend other places to someone if it came up in conversation. Had a carvery and the potatoes and parsnips were undercooked and the beef was just all fat, could tell it was the end of it. Not the best place for big groups either because the tables are just long and thin, no big round tables to make it easier to talk. Very overrated

Came here for a work meal and it was great! Friendly service, quick to make sure everyone was okay. A massive thanks to Jo and Claire such lovely staff and delicious food :)

We had carvery meat was good but the veg all dried up and not much selection. Also all had bits white paper in most dishes so was like covered leftovers i guess

No Turkey available for this American on Thanksgiving but the day was saved by the most succulent snd wonderful beef I’ve ever tasted!

It was poor night as we went out for a family dinner wanting a cavary, we all ordered and it was accepted but when we went up the chef said they ran out of meat and no point cooking any more as it will be wasted and this was at 6.30pm. So, we got a refund and re ordered but had the wait 45 minutes for food to turn up. When we received our food the Chips on every dish was still Frozen! An absolute joke

Good carvery at a reasonable price. Good location just off the A14. Beef was a bit chewy but a good meal.

Great atmosphere food was lovely as always and staff are really friendly and helpful. Price is reasonable too so winner all round.

Beef was a little overdone and tough, plates were cold so food rapidly went cold.

The service is a little slow but it is a very very busy pub, and you need to get an app sorted for ordering.

Went to trading post on 9th Nov with family for a carvery like many times before and it was the worst carvery ever,stringy beef roast potatoes over cooked same as other vegetables very very poor take a while to go back, table next to us (8) also complained about food also

We were sat quickly upstairs in a busy restaurant. We had a mega mixed grill and a cheese burger. The food was good, but we asked for chips with the burger and received fries. When we ordered our drinks on the app, a waitress came and told us we couldn't have the long island ice tea because they didn't have any ice?? So we then had to go to the bar to reorder one of the drinks. They then forgot to bring my drink up, and I had to wait 40 minutes for it. I have given 5 stars for service because the girl that was dealing with it was apologetic and friendly.

Food was good and brought to us relatively quickly after ordering it but then it took a while for the empty plates to be cleared once we had finished. For dessert 3 of us had the Rocky Road Sundae but we were all given spoons that were too big to get in to the bottom of the glass so we had to get clean knives from the table next to us to scoop out the contents at the bottom and then tip it in to our mouths - proper long handled spoons with a smaller head would have avoided this.

Carvery Cauliflower rock solid One of us got a yorkshire as flat as a pancake Gravy Station should have had a wipe down.. gravy everywhere.. Pigs in blankets arrived halfway through dinner.. which were not eaten they weren't cooked enough Also looking up at the skylight windows.. covered in cobwebs..pretty bad

Everything was as described, we waited a bit longer for service than usual, but that's because there were a lot of people. The food was delicious as usual and a pint of Guinness to go with it. Yum!

Bit disappointed this time as vegetarian option portion sizing has decreased . The wait time was over half hour for the sausages. The large size for meat only had 1 yorkshire instead of the usual 2 & also was not offered any pigs in blankets. The lager was flat so overall not that great really.

We originally paid for the carvery, the food looked like it had been sat for hours, the beef looked like leather. I told staff I would like a change of meal, she told me the food on the carvery was fresh which didn’t bode well for my next choice of food but we stayed. I won’t be returning. Worst place I’ve been to in 2024!

The pub was quiet busy but service was fantastic we had a reservation we were seated straight away. We all had the carvery it was delicious great selection of meat and vegetables. We then each had a pudding the were large and delicious would highly recommend the Trading Post never disappoints will be back again in a couple of weeks

Reasonable all round, nothing special.. Sundays are rammed so book ahead
