Overstone Arms in Kettering

Was made to feel really welcome when we arrived. We have parked up in the canpervan for the night. Food was delicious we highly recommend as a pub stop over.

Absolutely spot on! Lovely atmosphere, great food, lovely staff. Just perfect. A great way to start my birthday celebrations. Everywhere is clean and nothing is ever a bother to the staff. We were able to take our time and felt comfortable and safe. I very much look forward to coming back soon.

I can't see how any other restaurant could be better that this. Phil the chef is passionate about the food he cooks and the ingredients he uses, that being very apparent when he came and spoke to us. Food was perfect, service was friendly, everywhere was clean including the toilets, a nice old pub with garden and parking, looking forward to going back.

Lovely meal from the lunchtime special menu. Staff really friendly and helpful. Really enjoyable stop on our journey.

First time visit to this place even though we’re fairly local. Lovely atmosphere for mid-afternoon on a Saturday. Food was lovely. Nice and hot, excellent portions. I had the sea bass which was amazing and cooked to perfection. My husband had the ribeye and was very impressed with it. Starters were also excellent. The blonde lady behind the bar and in the dining room was lovely and extremely attentive and clearly keen to ensure everything was to our liking. In summary, a great place for a few beers watching some rugby and just as good for some delicious grub 😀 We will be back

It was a lunchtime and a little empty. So atmosphere was a little quiet. Good was ok and the service good.

We met up at the Overstone Arms, with some family members after attending the Motorhome show.at the NEC. It’s the first time that we had visited the pub. There was a good size car park, and we stayed over in our Campervan after a lovely meal and drinks. Everyone was very welcoming, and the food was delicious. A lovely pint of Pedigree and a well stocked bar all made for a very enjoyable evening. We will certainly call in again when next in the area.

The meals were both poor in quality and cooking wise burnt lasagne and luke warm chips with canned soup. The wsitress was pleasant. But would not go there again

What a fabulous pub for food or just a drink. The bar is dog friendly too. Food was amazing and so tasty. Varied mrnu choice and such good value.

Stayed overnight in my camper in their car park. The staff were excellent and cooked me dinner (yummy beef casserole) on Sunday evening, even though the restaurant was closed at the time. After I had set up my camper after dinner I returned to the bar and enjoyed a quiet nightcap and chat with the landlord. I was made to feel very welcome, the food was good and the whisky selection was marvellous!

Good food. We arrived at the restaurant and I could see it was a reasonably priced menu. We ordered a ploughman’s and a jacket potato. Good service and good size portions

I asked Kettering Facebook page where to go for a nice lunch with my Mum, this place was mentioned, I took my Mum for lunch, it wasn't very busy, I can`t understand why as it was really good, we were welcomed and seated, presented with menus and ordered drinks, there are various special deals on different days and also a full menu with lots of choices, we both opted for the Lentil soup with melba toast, a nice option as we would have been too full with a roll, the soup was obviously homemade, piping hot and very tasty, only one pat of better with the melba toast but I`m sure had I asked I would have been given more, I am a bit of a butter pig so one little pat was not really enough for me but that's the only criticism, then I had Ham egg and chips and Mum had sausage and mash, the ham was excellent and obviously cook in house, served warm with a perfectly cooked fried egg, I know an egg is an egg but not everyone gets it perfect, I like a runny yolk, my Mum loved her sausages (So did the dog with the one she smuggled away in a napkin) We declined deserts, and requested the bill, it was very reasonably priced and we could not fault anything we had. It wasn't very busy, I don't know why because everything was really good, service, price, food quality, oh! and hot plates! I am so fed up with going to managed chain places who quite honestly don't care if yo are there or not, its so nice to see a small privately run establishment trying hard to please and succeeding. You should do the same! We will be back to this one! Thank you.

We used to visit Phil at Bells Kitchen in Finedon. Still regularly visit now he has the overstone arms. Him and his team work tirelessly to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere, amazing food and great drinks. We visited today - 8 adults and 2 young children, for our family Christmas get together with the various generations of our family. The food was amazing - no one had a single complaint. The service was top notch and the staff can’t do enough to help you. It doesn’t matter if it’s a quick drink, bar snack, light lunch or a full on family meal, Phil and his team will make your visit perfect

Absolutely marvelous all round. Had Sunday roast and the gammon was amazing,all home cooked. Lovely atmosphere and each and every staff member was cheery and polite. Can't wait to go back very soon.

First visit here for lunch. Was very impressed with the selection of food on offer. Lunchtime special £13 for two courses. I had a jacket potatoes with chilli side salad and home made coleslaw. It was excellent. The staff were very and very efficient. The surroundings were lovely. Will definitely be returning.

Arrive 7:25pm for a table booked for half 7. And closed. Ridiculous, why even accept our booking?? Doors locked.

Unfortunately we seem a minority according to these reviews but I had to leave an honest one. We just went for Sunday lunch as a group of 4, 2 had soup for starters, completely over seasoned and just tasted of salt. Another had pate served with a blob of coleslaw which seemed very strange, a chutney would have been more in place 🤷🏻‍♀️. Main dinners were ordered, 2 Roast Beef, 1 Gammon and 1 vegetarian Tart. Apparently the vegetarian tart was quite nice, sadly this is where the positives end. The beef which is supposed to be ‘medium rare’ was definitely well done! I wish I taken a picture and was very tough! Vegetables had little or no seasoning in our option and the Yorkshire pudding resembled a pancake, the three carrot coins per plate were ok-ish! Roast potatoes tasted ‘chewy’ and not fresh. The cauliflower had something on it but I couldn’t tell you what, I don’t think it was cauliflower cheese but all 4 of us could be wrong. The plates were cold meaning food was cold pretty quickly. We paid the bill and left, there is a man walking around who says little to nothing to customers who could at a guess be the manager, again could be wrong but his body language didn’t seem approachable, he had already been short with one of the serving girls on our way in as to where other diners could wait. All in all very disappointing lunch and sadly won’t be returning.

Thought we’d try somewhere different to our normal places but were really disappointed. Service was polite and prompt however starter and main were poor , didn’t finish either. Wondered if it was just me unlucky but other tables plates not finished going back . Might have been an off day for chef but food was way off the quality of our usual pubs/restaurants

Lovely food. Very attentive staff. Two steaks and a bottle of wine deal was excellent value and wonderfully cooked. We stayed here in a motorhome over night and were made to feel very welcome . Will definitely come again.

Really enjoyed lunch here today with friends - the beef casserole was superb, tender beef really well cooked & tasty. Salad with paté starter was crisp & fresh, the coleslaw could well have been home made too. Apple crumble/custard dessert was really top class. The place was really busy with a large group but service was still good & friendly. Would happily go again if we lived closer!!

My friends and I were looking for somewhere to go and enjoy a meal but also have time to sit and chat without time restrictions. We certainly were not disappointed with this beautiful little pub. Literally on our doorstep and what a gem!! The decor was lovely, the ambience of the pub was excellent. The service was superb!! Oh and the food, what can I say but WOW!! Sadly I didn't take any photos due to the food looking so good I just wanted to tuck in. I most certainly will be going here again. Only tiny downside was that it was a little pricey and more than I would normally pay for a meal in the week with friends, but it was really good. Well done to all of the staff, 10/10

We visited on a Thursday evening as a group of four. We were welcomed warmly to the inn, ordered our drinks from the well stocked bar and were shown to our table overlooking the garden. The menu choices were pretty good, with something for everyone. We ordered the sea bass, the chicken and chips, the Overstone burger and a rack of ribs. The food wasn’t long in coming, but long enough for us to chat and catch up. We were served some Melba toasts whilst waiting for our main courses. The food was excellent. The rack of ribs looked beautiful, the burger was really good and the other two dishes were equally as good according to their consumers! Having dispensed with the mains, three of us had desserts, all of which were scrumptious! All in all, we had a really pleasant evening at the Overstone Arms, made even more pleasant by the friendly and really efficient staff who served us. All four of us would recommend this establishment without reserve.

A big thank you to the staff at the Overstone Arms who laid on a fabulous buffet this week for my mother's wake. The food was incredible and nothing was too much trouble. This was my first visit to this lovely pub in its delightful setting but it won't be my last.

We stopped over in our campervan and had a great meal and the staff were all very good, nice and friendly. We will return. Excellent food also with special offers like free dessert etc, so it is good value.

6 minutes from the A14. We'll worth the drive to the village of Pytchley. Today was our first visit. The Secret garden was lovely and relaxing. ( not so secret). Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant well set out, nice decor and very clean. Food excellent quality. What beats all this? Exceptional value. Will return.

The outside area is fabulous but unfortunately the food is very poor. Enquired as to whether local produce was used and received a vague answer rather than a definitive one. The food was totally uninspiring.

We hired the Secret Garden event space for a 60th party and could not have got a better place. The space is fantastic with outside bar and plenty of seating and general space. The food was amazing and staff were more than helpfully with everything. The weather wasn't the best but the staff made sure we had plenty of cover and parasols. There was enough space for our band for the evening plus dancing area. Can only praise the Overstone Arms and staff for helping to create an amazing day & evening.

We were so lucky to have this welcoming pub with its beautiful gardens for our wedding vow renewal celebration party. We can’t thank Phil, John and their brilliant, friendly team for giving us, our family and friends the best time ever. This Is a lovely country pub In a pretty village, and was our first ever visit here. The secret garden and the views are extremely nice, a lovely setting for a summers evening drink. Sadly our food was very disappointing. My Rainbow Lasange was extremely poor. Never have I had a lasagne without bechamel sauce, no flavour whats so ever and pasta was dry and over cooked. Looked like It was made In a rush and very last minute. Basic to say the very least. Shame as Its put us off returning

We're local but hadn't been to the Overstone Arms for ages. We had guests from the USA staying with us and were pleasantly surprised to find that not only was a local country pub open on a Monday but they were also doing food. The pub has a new owner and the whole place has been revamped to a good standard. The 'Secret Garden' is spacious but cozy, close to the bar, won't be a secret for long & neither will the Monday special price menu. This is an observation, not a criticism but the bar area is a little snug and having three occupied barstools adds congestion when trying to get drinks even when it's moderately busy. There were four of us who all had different things from the menu & there was plenty on each plate, tasty & hot. The restaurant staff were attentive but not fussy & everything including the dessert were timely served. The cost four four adults, of which only one had something from the Monday special menu but including some drinks was reasonable. We will be going back on a more regular basis and our American guests well certainly insist we do when they visit us next.

Food was lovely the lamb rump was amazing, a bit of a wait but worth it. Secret garden is beautiful. Very attentive staff.

Lovely birthday meal for 8 of us

Fantastic place to eat,the Monday club is simply amazing,we have been twice now and have booked again for next week ,the food was outstanding and unbelievable value,its a disappearing menu but both times we have had steak ,this week we had fillet and rump with all the trimmings for only £8.00 each,amazing,they were both full plates ,we havent tried the starters or desserts because we were full,The bar staff are lovely and the chef/owner is a really nice normal guy.You would have to go miles to beat this place.

Ate in the garden, nice setting with some lovely old apple trees. Asked for rare steak but was medium rare and couldn’t tasty whisky in the whisky sauce. However, meat quality was excellent and service good

Just had a great meal at the Overstone Arms. Anne-Marie looked after us very well and I would highly recommend having a meal there. Shall definitely be going back soon

Had my fathers wake here this week and cannot thank Phil enough for the great service and food provided. The first time we sat down and met with Phil to discuss the wake we were made to feel welcomed and accommodated for. All wake attendees have since made comments to me about how good the buffet was. The garden area is perfect on a sunny day and staff are super friendly and welcoming. Good selection of drinks and very traditional country pub interior with Axminster carpet and stove. The Overstone arms is the epitome of a classic country pub that is fit for modern times. We need more pubs like this and people should support them. Couldn’t have had my dads wake in a better place and really happy that we made the decision to go in and book. We will be coming back to this pub regularly.

Lovely meal, staff friendly but slow and not organised. Seated but had to ask for drinks and ask again for menu. Would recommend and sure service will improve.

We had a lovely meal, the steaks were fabulous. Staff were obviously learning but were very helpful and polite. Would certainly visit again.

Really mixed experience (drink - good, food - poor)........Went here this evening and the location is lovely. The pub (drinking) side to the place is very pleasant indeed. Staff were polite. But the food, well this was far from great for the price. The meals had been warmed through and very little 'home cooking' was done in the kitchen. I personally had the fish which was a piece of shop brought frozen fish which had been warmed through. Others on our table had a dry lasagne and a soggy piece of sea bass. The food (evening menu) is a really poor standard for somewhere that seems to have all other avenues of the local pub sorted. On a Saturday night there were very few tables booked which should have rung alarm bells. All in all, if I had not had dinner it would have been a pleasant experience, but as the purpose was for dinner, this was not great shop brought food warmed through by a cook. Would visit again for a drink but would never eat here again.

Excellent Sunday roast! A choice of meat and vegetarian option and the potato croquettes are great. Relaxed atmosphere and the serving staff were friendly and efficient. My choice of venue for Sunday lunch - well done to all concerned.

We arrived late afternoon for a bar snack,greated by three young girls who were pleasant but not very informative, We sat in the garden area which is nicely presented and clean, We decided to share four starter plates after being told the scampi and fish were not available,all of the dishes were bland and served with a simple salad which was tasteless,no offer of additional dressings or sauces, Overall a pleasant place to visit but the staff need training and someone needs to take control of front of house,the food was basic and disappointing, Good location and car park.

First visit to the Overstone, with a U3A lunch club, and very impressed. In particular, the staff were excellent and very attentive. Would definitely recommend.

OVERPRICED! It’s a lovely pub but overpriced for a pub right next to a town £10 for a pint & a glass of wine.

A quick decision on Sunday lunch was taken and we ended at the Overstone and got lucky as we didn't book but they had a couple of tables left food arrived quickly was very nice tasty Sunday grub also had a rather lovely pudding 😋 really nice waiting staff excellent

Very very overpriced for what you get on your plate !!fillet steak £35.00 and not sure it was fillet .Evening out for 4 ..bottle of wine 2 x3 course and 2 x 2 courses was over £200 .bit much for a village pub !!

Recently took over. Service is good and prompt we found. I think the menu is fine but still needs a little improvement to compete with other pubs in the area.

Absolutely brilliant, i was incredibly awkward and they handled it with grace and elegance, lara and liz i cannot thankyou enough. Not all heros wear capes!! Cheers ladies.
