The Briars in Kettering

Our second time at the Briars, and very impressed. The food is lovely, well cooked and nice and hot. Good value for money. We will definitely be going again.

Stood at the bar completely ignored

We really enjoy coming to this pub, it's a lovely little family pub that has good food. I tried on this occasion the new Party Dessert which was absolutely lovely!!!

Food was great, it didn't take long for it to come out and was good value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful. There were a couple of hiccups with sides missing but these were resolved easily. The only thing i wasn't too overly keen on would have been the placement of the table we sat at. It was right next to the bar, the food window and staff entrance so it was busy and bit loud. The table itself was a good size though and we would go back again.

The food was good and the restaurant was clean.

My wife and I had a meal and we stayed for the entertainment the food was very nice and reasonable price plus the drinks were on special happyhour to 8pm the disco was amazing playing all are favourite from the 70s and 80s playing to the average age of the crowd look forward to the next entertainment night which is a band we will definitely be back can't beat a good food drink and entertainment keep it up

Went to briars today as normal on Fridays but closed for private function so does this mean sod the regulars.

Best steak I've had for a long time

All food was really good quality and value for money. We both had desserts which were actually very big and one thing I think you could do is have them a little smaller to reduce on food waste.

Popped in for an early lunch and the friendly welcome I received from my server Ella was fantastic ( I think that is her name ,apologies if I have that wrong) she took the time to explain the menu because I had forgotten my glasses ! Nothing was to much trouble and she seemed genuinely interested in how my day was going . This was customer service at its best ! Well done The Briars !

Everything was excellent as usual. Good service, good timing of food which was hot and cooked as requested.

Had,nt visited The Briers for sometime the pub had been revamp and looked amazing the food was brilliant the wait was quite long was told half an hours wait was almost an hour before the food came out but will still come back for another visit.

Always hit and miss with the food, no consistency. Usually order the fish and chips because the fish is good quality and battered well. This time the food was a real let down, I'd hyped myself up but instead I got a lump of batter with a hint of fish. No dip for the halloumi fries and yet again they're burnt to a crisp. They have a lot of trouble with burning these, almost every time. But when they're not burnt, they are good. It's a shame. I love the food when it's done properly. It's good value for money but wasn't worth it tonight. Wish I'd chosen elsewhere.

Birthday meal with family, excellent service and atmosphere.

Went there for the first time in a long while ordered food they gave mine first and they forgot to bring my partners food food was tasteless chips were like cardboard not enough options for vegetarians has gone down hill not the pub it use to be

Food was not as good as previous visit, fajita spice on standard fajita not mixed correctly, very strong in parts, unable to catch my breath....hunters chicken was tasty

It's OK for a,cheap meal and a pint

Food was terrible. Everything was burnt. Menu is no where near as good as it used to be.

Booking was easy. Food came swiftly, without any issues. Food was reasonably priced, hot and very nice, both parties enjoyed their choice. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return based on our experience.

Pleasant atmosphere with good service and good standard pub grub at a reasonable price.

A wonderful meal and excellent ale. Well worth a visit and I'll be returning very soon.

First time eating here, came in for lunch and had amazing service. Food was lovely will 100% come again.

I came in today and ordered a Clucking hot stack, it was delicious and the service was great .. i would highly recommend the briars and will definitely be coming again .

Bar staff were great and friendly. Wait for a starter which came to us extremely well done, was 40 minutes. Wait for main course was another 30minutes and was to be honest fairly tasteless .

Today I popped to the Briars for a drink and noticed the food being brought out looked decent I opted for a take away as I didn’t have time to stay, I’m very surprised on the presentation and how polite all the staff were on my visit, will be returning for another gammon steak!

Very busy only one girl serving at bar and taking orders, service slow due to how busy it was also had run out of some food options even though it was only 7.30 pm when we ordered.

Arrived at 6pm. Table was ready. Starter was lovely. Mains good.

Food was fantastic and the service but do you miss your breakfast menu?

Staff very helpful and food was amazing. Good size portions will definitely be back.

Mostly lovely food and great quiz

The Briars is great pub but we've eaten there twice in the last 2 months and the food was poor. It was always good in the past but not now. The chips and peas were undercooked and the steak was fatty and tough to the point where it was. On entering the pub there were cigarette ends everywhere and looked untidy and smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. In all quite disappointing and won't be returning any time soon

Come to the briars Sunday food was over cooked yes they replaced it but then it was cold then the manager add then cheek to asked for a good review tell my husband that she give him a free drink he took the free drink I wouldn’t let him do a review as it was shocking there was drug bags in the lady’s and the place was a mess it was not even busy the manager was sat out the back she only came out when she was trying to get reviews and from what my husband said she a new manager looking to grow the business she needs to work on staff may trained them more

Amazing place, always great service from the crew. Special shout out to Keeley, who goes beyond her duties to give a warm welcome.

Everything was great, the staff were very accommodating and polite the food was delicious, we really enjoyed our visit

The service and food was excellent

Couldn't book as phone was not working properly, but they had a table for 6. Menu was good and the children had plenty of choice. They had the make your own pudding which was a brilliant idea.

Proper little estate pub. Watched the mighty west ham dismantle Chelsea 3_1. No sign of.the spurs landlord. Food was OK. No Sunday roast but ribs were cooked well served beautifully with just the one napkin. Will go back again

The bar staff are extremely friendly and don't miss a thing, and food is excellent and bought out very quickly and to a high quality. Definitely back in the future.

Bonnie was absolutely fantastic, unfortunately we had to ask for our food to be re heated it was cold our first option was steak but was told they had run out ,Bonnie could not of been any more apologetic she seems like a lady of many talents she served cleaned tables and served the bar well done Bonnie.

Are here tonight with a friend, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals,my steak cooked to perfection, well done but not tough. And my friend said her salad was delicious and very fresh. Service was very good, I would recommend this pub to friends and family.

Wow, hats off to the chef! Food is fantastic, sweet potato fries was perfect and crispy not at all stodgy like other places. Beautiful chicken wrap top. Service is excellent, staff are attentive and so friendly. Home from home 🏡

At 5.30 they had run out of ribs and rump stake very disappointed also the sizzling plate wasn't sizzling the sirloin stake was as thin as a sandwich filler well done and i wanted it medium it certainly wasn't 8oz either my husband was you could tell the difference

We visited recently and were told there would be a 40 minute wait and it wasn't that busy. After nearly an hour and a half of waiting, we asked where the food was and was told it'd be a 15 minute wait which was unreliable as, at the same time, another table came in when the restaurant was significantly busier and was told the same wait time would be applicable. When the food arrived, I was served the wrong burger with a sauce that shouldn't have been on the burger I was served. They served the wrong burger incorrectly. Not only that, three of our other orders lacked cheese and bacon and half of the food was cold. The kitchen was rubbish and most likely unorganised. The only positive part of the experience was the friendly waiter who dealt with the situation perfectly despite seeming very busy.

Visited last week with my husband & was served by Bonnie& cam. Fantastic experience from start to end. Highly recommend !!

We reserved a table on line got confirmation of it , when we arrived no table was reserved, lucky plenty of tables were available. Service was quick and greeted with a smile , food I had gammon one gammon was overcooked, eggs no yolk , chips some hot some Luke warm , waffle for pudding was nice , did expect the waffle to be warm but it was cold

I used to have a great affinity for this place and would enthusiastically recommend it to anyone. However, I must express my disappointment with the recent decline in its quality. It is disheartening to note that this is the fourth consecutive time in the past month that my dining experience has been subpar. During my first visit, I encountered the frustrating situation where a significant portion of the items listed on the menu were unavailable. This forced me to settle for substitutions, which was not ideal considering the initial anticipation I had for specific dishes. The second time around, I decided to order through their app, only to find that our drinks were served after we had already finished our meals. This lack of synchronization between food and beverage service was quite off-putting. On my third visit, I planned to enjoy a delightful breakfast as I usually do on Sundays. However, despite the website stating that they open at 9 am, I arrived at 9:55 am only to find the establishment still closed. This inconsistency in their operating hours was frustrating and inconveniencing. Regrettably, my fourth visit proved to be the most disappointing yet. The food served was noticeably burnt, indicating a lack of attention and care in the kitchen. Additionally, one of the meals we ordered was missing its accompanying dips, further diminishing our dining experience. The atmosphere in the kitchen was chaotic, with audible shouting among the staff members. Despite these shortcomings, it is important to note that the two ladies serving us were pleasant and accommodating; their efforts should not be undermined. In conclusion, it deeply saddens me to witness such a decline in the quality and consistency of this once-beloved restaurant. The issues encountered during my recent visits have left me hesitant to recommend it any longer.

I recently went here for a meal with my family its been a while since i have visited the pub i was pleasantly surprised the food was good but the service was excellent we were served by an extra ordinary young lady full of life and she made our evening i dont know her name but she had blue hair she was fast so polite and we all had a great night we will be going back thank you Tracey Douglas n family ♥️

It was our first visit, the staff were nice and friendly, but they didn't have our menu choices, and when my food arrived the chips and peas were cold, no-one came back to the table to ask if the food was okay, which would have allowed me to ask for it to be heated up without embarrassment.

Service at the bar was excellent but the food delivery was poor. 5 meals ordered only 1 meal delivered to table and finished before the next meal was delivered.

Busy pub,staff very busy. Bit of a wait for meal. one of the meals was wrong member of staff apologised and compensated for it.

Great pub value for money ,for local pub restaurants it was refreshing to find somewhere all tables were cleared and clean and service faultless and all meals came out together and food was hot 👍👍

Good, low prices. Tasty, plentiful food. Extremely helpful, friendly staff. Unfortunately, due to the 40% off offer there was a 70 minute wait for food, resulting in some people leaving. This was in no way the fault of the staff. 2 young chaps, one running the very busy bar, the other all but trotting from kitchen to table. Many of the sauce and vinegar bottles were empty, causing people to move round the tables to borrow others' condiments.

Great atmosphere, great staff and great food. Very accommodating 12 of us dining and all food hot and out at the same time. Drink very reasonable too. We live in Donegal and always make time for a visit here when we are over.

Having found everywhere in Kettering closed for dinner, the Briars stayed OPEN to feed us thanks to Matt and Scarlett in the kitchen and the wonderful Dee, who couldn’t have been more helpful. A nice meal which was very welcome after a long journey! Will return :-)

Local you want to have. not complicated just a pub. But excellent food if you require.

Got assaulted in the pub with a bottle by a regular. Not too much reason just someone who had too much to drink. Barred me for a “fight” didn’t ring the police or take any appropriate steps to help the situation and have refused to lift the ban. The food gave me food poisoning several times and apparently a member of staff use to spit in her ex boyfriends drinks (not too sure on the truth of that but certainly shows the quality of the pub). Maybe go for the pub quiz isn’t all bad but beware of the staff and their strange behaviour

The chicken platter - omg is amazing!!!! It was huge but so good. We also had the Chinese pork belly and ribs. Massive feast but was delicious. The staff all really friendly, Nina the manager was lovely and talked us into the platters - she wasn’t wrong they were so good

Booked a table for my birthday we couldn't eat most of the meal due to burnt burger bun some food being warm and not hot and then all feeling unwell ... one server was very friendly and polite, and the other server heavy handedly slamming glasses down and came across abrupt in her tone of voice. Main meals didn't come out at the same time. The atmosphere was not welcoming. Staff appeared to show they didn't want to be there, making it very uncomfortable.. and other customers saying their food was not good either. Very disappointed

We came to celebrate our mum’s birthday, from the minute we walked in there was no greeting not even a happy birthday, we ordered drinks the waitress came over giving our drinks one by one not making any sort of conversation with us. The lady who I’m assuming is the manager was slamming a drink down and snatching our reserved sign away again not making any sort of conversation. When it came to food they started sending out our dishes separately meaning birthday girl had practically finished her by the time we got ours. Our chilli looked and felt like it was microwaved, Gammon being way too salty, burger bun was burnt with no flavour to the burger, putting hot plates down on our table without giving us a warning of it being hot. To top it off when cleaning our table there was no effort of asking how it was considering most of our food was still on our plates after waiting 20 minutes just to be cleared. We will not be returning, we have all walked away feeling slightly unwell and disgusted.

Just had a light bite dinner, was lovely and great value for our money. Jack one of the kitchen staff came out to have a chat regarding my dietary requirements. 5 🌟 service and value for money.

It was quite busy, food took a very long time to arrive ordered on line after 25 minutes had to ask where our drinks were. My vegetarian sausage arrived after a 50-minute wait, I couldn't get my fork in them, let alone my knife they were so hard. We complained and it was sorted. My husband gammon was very salty and uneatable.

We’ve lived in the area for almost 13 years and only just found this place. Service was good, value for money, food was tasty and app was easy to use… overall 8 out 10! 😋
