Went here for a friend's birthday party. First time visiting and what a beautiful place. Staff are really welcoming, food and service are excellent and the atmosphere in the place was really good all evening. Well worth a visit.

Had arrived from Scotland and was there around 7pm looking for food but their kitchen was closed even though the food menu haf bern left on the tablr. So disappointed so couldn't really rate the food as we couldn't try it. I guess that is ok for locals. Lovely place for a drink though

Bit expencive and over rated apart from food thev got nothing else to offer

First time of visiting. Best pie we have had (lamb and mint) Service was outstanding 👏 my husband even left a tip and that says alot! Will definitely be returning. Great value for money.

Went for a Sunday lunch. Really good

My wife and I were travelling back from Warwickshire to Hertfordshire and decided to stop off somewhere for lunch. We saw this place had good reviews online so gave it a try. I recommend The Olde Victoria to everyone, it's lovely little place with a nice atmosphere and very cheerful staff. The food is reasonably priced and of outstanding quality. My wife had the rump steak and I went for the homemade pie of the die (chicken and leek) If we are ever in the area again we will come back

Just got back from another exceptional dining experience at The Old Victoria, this one for an extra special Valentine's Day meal. The set menu food was amazing, with service from Matthew and all of team to match. Cannot recommend this place highly enough, thank you for a wonderful evening.

Helped me & my family host after my Dad’s funeral. Matthew & his team were so supportive, accommodating, helpful & respectful. Delicious buffet food backed up with friendly, efficient staff. Can’t thank them enough. Highly recommend.

It’s not a pub on a Sunday; it’s a restaurant! Tables not reserved were set out with place settings and we were not allowed to sit there as it caused more work for the staff. There weren’t any seats set aside for bar visitors. Such a contrast from through the week. Appalling!!

Fantastic food and efficient service ... highly recommend.

We booked for an anniversary dinner on Saturday, very busy pub which was great to see. We had booked a table in the bar, the staff were friendly with prompt service. We ordered some nibbles to start which were delicious, our mains were good steak and chips for him and lamb shoulder for me, both very good. The only downside in the meal was the very overcooked vegetables served with the lamb. Barring this it was a great experience and we would go back and maybe not choose something with veg .

Our first time visiting we had a Very warm welcome (we hadn't booked) the staff managed to find us a table even though they had 2 massive party's on ,food was excellent I would highly recommend visiting if in the area. We are looking forward to our next visit

We had a table in the bar area next to the lovely log fire. Food was very good, my only complaint was that I ordered cheese and biscuits which was £9.50 and all I got was three small pieces of cheese, three crackers and a piece of celery. Very disappointed with that !!

Visited the Old Vic on 7.12.24 and what a fabulous evening. The food was first class, the service was great and it was a lovely, busy, festive atmosphere. The vegetarian option was really good!

Booked for Sunday Dinner. Had the camembert starter which is a must, absolutely delicious!! Followed by a roast beef dinner which was plentiful and cooked to perfection. Great service with a smile. Highly recommend.

Traditional village country pub with good beer and restaurant. We had lunch there which was served hot and reasonably priced. Used to go there in the 70s/80s and was nice to return.

Very nice pub and the food was very good

Decided to go for lunch. Had not booked and was surprised to see how busy it was for a Saturday lunchtime. We enquired about a table and within a few minutes whilst getting drinks at the bar they had found us a table for the four of us. The food and service was as good as when we have been on a Sunday or other times. Two had a baguette which came with chips and salad and looked lovely and fresh and two decided to have a sharing plate which they do called the Northamptonshire grazing plate which was very good and enough for two people. The atmosphere and attention by staff was good. Most enjoyable Saturday lunchtime.

Went for Sunday lunch with my wife and couldn't fault it, within 30 seconds of entering we were shown to our table and within another 4 or 5 minutes our food and drinks order was taken, we both went for the roast beef which came with the usual vegetables and Yorkshire pudding and we both thoroughly enjoyed it, for dessert I went for the ice cream as I wanted something relatively light and my wife chose the raspberry and white chocolate roulade which she thought was amazing. In a nutshell the food and the service were faultless and I think it's safe to say that we will definitely be going back hopefully in the not too distant future.

Booked the restaurant table online for my partner and her daughters for a treat and catch-up. They didn't disappoint. She came back and had a fabulous night. Service was the usual top-notch, as was the food! That's the main reason I booked it as I knew it would be spot on. There are a few pub restaurants as good as the OV, but they are not as consistent! High standards evert time.

Went for Sunday lunch as haven’t been for over 5 years due to moving away and it did not disappoint , the pub and restaurant were extremely busy everyone was happily going about their jobs , we were seated quickly and our order taken within 15 mins I had the brickwork pate which came with 4 slices of toasted ciabatta a small salad caramelised chutney and a glaze dressing the other half had leek and potato soup served with croutons and 3 slices of ciabatta both looked and tasted amazing our plates were cleared away within a reasonable time we both had the roast lamb which came with roast potatoes sweet potato roasted parsnip and a Yorkshire pudding in a separate dish came cauliflower cheese each and another bowl of mixed peas courgettes broccoli and leeks and a lovely jug of gravy the lamb melted in your mouth it was amazing and piping hot all served with a smile from the waitresses absolute steal at 2 courses for £25 or 3 for £32 amazing food amazing service at a great price and I love the blue checked chairs great meal everyone we will be back many thanks

We had Sunday lunch and we were first in so it wasn't very lively. We enjoyed it though and would definitely go back. I had chicken pie which was excellent.

Always friendly service and a wide selection of beers. Food is good with options for me, the meat love and my wife, pescatarian. It's a bit of a drive for us but we'll be back.

Came in after long day driving, before heading home. Was a friendly greeting and helped me decide on my food was stuck between the venison and the pork was recommended the pork and it was amazing. I'm already very tempted to come back and try the venison.

This is a lovely traditional old pub, albeit quite small inside buy the food is amazing.

Popped in for a drink and snack. Attentive staff. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Dogs are welcome. Good pint of Guinness. Delicious sweet potato fries. Garden is nice to sit out in.

Really good meal as always always recommended booking in advance I would probably call as I have used there online system and it has failed to reserve Me a table 2 times and had to sit in a less desirable place than I would of liked however the food is second to none and service is impeccable going above and beyond

I hadn’t been to the OV for ages but went last night with friends and couldn’t fault it. Food and service was excellent. And very good value.

Despite not having a booking, the staff were super courteous in accommodating us at very short notice, despite having a visiting coach party. My guest (German) was amazed by the quintessential British Pub feel, with low ceiling beams & plenty of character. The food was excellent (pie of the day with mash, veg & gravy), service outstanding & just an excellent all round experience - I can highly recommend!.

Excellent food, very comfortable dining area and a relaxing atmosphere; the staff are most attentive without intrusion and very friendly. This was our second visit within a few months, and one which was especially worthy of note due to such a tasty Christmas Dinner with that 'home cooked' quality so easily lost by some establishments. We'll be back!

Was not very impressed with my lunch. Husbands was a bit better. Disappointed overall.

Made the wrong choices. Duck gyros and a really tasteless risotto, think the worse I've ever had. Added salt and pepper, which is very unusual for me, still yuk, asked for parmesan which helped a little, still couldn't finish it though. They need some tips from my husband who makes lovely risottos. He had pork loin which he found too dry. Perhaps a bad night! Will stick to pie or Butter chicken another time, if we go again.

If you want quality food with quality service and a gem of a pub / restaurant, this is somewhere worth visiting. It's not a chain pub, it's a lovely bar where you can take your dog to the comfy and friendly restaurant the back. Lovely menu with plenty of choice and some lovely vegetarian options which were not the easy-go-to options. Food was yummy and service was fab, friendly and I'd defo go again.

Plesentley surprised to be honest.... Pub is huge when you go up to the restaurant area.... Food and service very good..... We expect Sundays to be manic and very busy..... Went for an after dinner drink and tea - will be back. Menu not extensive but food was fab.... Suits all tastes and all ages.... £45 or so for two mains and a few beers...

Visited for Sunday Lunch on 26th May. We did book the week previously, and glad we did as i dont think we would have got a table. Parking is plentiful if you have an earlier booking, but can be busy later on and you may have to park away from pub and short walk in. Plenty of seating outside, especially if weather is warm. I had a pint of San Miguel and my wife had a Malibu and coke, which was £9.20. We were seated at our allotted time and the restaurant was busy but tables not too close and they cater for larger parties. There is a 2 or course option for Sunday lunch, we opted for the 2 courses for £25. I had the topside roast beef and my wife had the chicken. There is an option for Lamb shoulder (i will be having next visit). We were served quickly and the staff are very attentive and friendly. My roast beef was delicious as were the roast potatoes, Yorkshire, the roast parsnips and carrots, were also yummy. The veg came out seperate with peas, beans , leeks and cabbage, all of which were very fresh and cooked to perfection, we asked for extra veg and extra gravy. I think you get a better deal with the Chicken option as you get pigs in blankets and stuffing, which you dont get on the beef?? Anyway, my wife said it was the best roast she has had in more than a decade (high praise indeed). I have to agree, the meal was delicious and the portion generous as i could not finish my beef. We could not fault a thing on the plate, so compliments to the kitchen staff. For desert we had Sticky toffee pudding, i had custard and my wife had extra sauce and butterscotch ice cream. It was light yet scrumptious, and we were both full to bursting. The toilets were lovely and clean and probably the best toilets i have visited in a pub/restaurant for along time. Overall, value for money and the food superb. The service excellent, especially Tim the manager, a lovely kind man. By the way for all 3 courses it is £32. We will be back in the next couple of weeks as this was the best Sunday lunch for miles and miles.

We visited over the bank holiday weekend whilst away on holiday with family. What a lovely pub! Great food with wonderful service with friendly, approachable staff. The poached pear choux bun, was delicious!! They had lots going on for the children, but we just had a meal and left. The magnetic boards they offered the children were such a great idea and kept them entertained through the whole meal. We also loved that both male and female toilets had changing facilities (we no longer require this, but appreciate that it’s very rare that places accommodate for both parents to change a nappy!)

Arrived to an overflowing carpark and a absolutely packed bar. It was impossible to see where the restaurant was, turned out to be at the back of the packed bar. No one to greet on arrival. Didn't appear to be sufficiently staffed for the amount of business. Having found the wait here to be seated, we waited, and waited, several wait staff passed by, one said be with you in a moment. Having a 1930 booking and arriving at 1928 our table wasn't ready. We were told to grab a drink at the bar. The solidly packed bar, the correct response would be can we get you a drink while you take a seat. Restaurant was as busy as the bar every table taken. Menu was varied and order placed (after a wait), there was a wait for everything, take the order, deliver the food. The desserts were taking forever to arrive and we were almost the last people seated. I chased the desserts and they had been forgotten. Later when requesting the bill, we were told the desserts were complimentary due to the wait. This was appreciated. The food was nicely presented, hot, but I felt small portions. Maybe we visited on a bad day, but it just didn't make my day.

Car park opposite. Twelve of us had booked a table for a Thursday lunchtime, we pre-ordered our food choices. Very pleasant staff and my food was top quality. Other friends in the group said that their peas were hard! My butter chicken curry and side salad were superb, finished off with tasty butterscotch ice-cream.

We all went on a Sunday and had the best roast. I had the vegan roast delicious. We were sat by the door where everyone was coming in and waiting by the bar thats why I gave 4 stars. I guess someone has to sit there

Mathew, Luke and the staff did a lovely job for the Wake for my Aunties funeral yesterday, the food was excellent and they went above and beyond to accomodate a Vegan which I had no idea about , so thank you all you did a brilliant job.

Best pub in the north Northamptonshire area. Lovely food and drink with friendly staff. Couldn't ask for anything more.

We had a table for 10 and it was ready as soon as we arrived. Service was spot on and the food was delicious. They were really busy but you wouldn't have known it as everything seemed perfect. Would highly recommend going here.
