Earl Of Dalkeith Public House in Kettering

Recently my wife and I, visited, i ordered the small fish and chips, as the name implies ,I didn't expect it to fill the plate, but what I got shocked me, the cod in batter was a tiny strip no larger than a fish finger, when I commented on this I received a sorry about that with a smirk, frankly it was insulting being served this miniscule piece of fish ,pathetic TBH one star rating

Love the place and prices but the steaks we both got had no meat on, chewy lots of bristle n fat deffo not more than 3oz of meat but advertised as over 6oz.

Loved this Spoons, really nice inside and the upstairs seating was lovely. Only had 1 drink in there but will definitely pop in again when we're in the area. Clean, tidy and staff were great.

Great service from staff, accidentally managed to order twice with the app without realising - staff came to table to check and immediately issued a refund upon confirming this was accidental. Good service.

The staff are efficient and the food was good. Also it wasn't too crowded, although I tend to go mid week and avoid weekends when it is possibly more crowded.

Brilliant and friendly service and nice food and drink. Would visit again if ever out that way from Birmingham.

Kicked out Andy (little old man playing guitar in the corner :( ) because he was singing happy birthday to someone. They don’t want joy in the pub. They made him leave and go somewhere else (girl in tan trousers). He was sweet. It’s a shame

Probably one of the worse spoons in England, not surprised as Kettering is awful in general.

I have been in this branch many of times to eat lunch at work or lunch with my mum, and each time I have been made to feel like I shouldn’t be here and that I am not wanted here. I have been told many times I have had “too much to drink” when I am out with work friends for Christmas! I am totally embarrassed and humiliated by the acts of the earl of Dalkeith Kettering! I am not happy with the customer service in this branch!!!!

Good food for the price and great service, lighting far too low for my liking, but i guess they have to create an atmosphere.

This place is amazing! Good atmosphere and reliable and friendly staff. Food is good! Drinks are very affordable. Occasionally get the odd kick off but who doesn’t love abit of real life Coronation Street! 😂 Just a really chilled and relaxing place to go!

Use this pub quite lot,with varying results,could not believe it when I visited one evening and all TWELVE real ales were unavailable!! Certain members of staff seemed to find this situation amusing,presumably because no beer means no work.

I don't know what is going on with the food here these days. My son and daughter-in-law had the burgers which tasted like a very very poor MaccyD! I had the chicken burger. Like someone had chucked a dry piece of chicken breast between two slices of bun, tomato and a little lettuce. This was meant to be part of the prosecco deal. It was so flat half way through it I left it! It used to be decent food wise at this Wetherspoon. Not anymore. Don't waste your time unless you're just going to have drinks.

The food was exactly what I needed - familiar, tasty, and not trying too hard. 💷 Price: My wallet was still smiling after paying the bill. It's the kind of place where you don't need to calculate if you can afford a second drink. 🚻 Facilities: The toilets were surprisingly up to par, and the baby changing facilities? Spotless and reassured me that my kids were in safe hands. 🔄 Service: I accidentally left a hair tie behind, but when I went back, it was waiting for me like a lost friend. The staff here are the unsung heroes of lost-and-found. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family-Friendly: It was an ideal spot for our family lunch. The kids had space to play, and we enjoyed some quality time with friends without the fuss.

Popped in with a couple of friends for a beer. Haven't visited for a very long time, and to be fair, the inside still looks the same old tired decor that has lasted for years. Sat by the window, and people watched. There was a guy by himself with a Mickey mouse hat on drinking. No one took any notice, so assumed he was a regular. Sensible priced ale and that's what attracts people.

Surprisingly wonderful! We visit many Wethers over the country and despite the surroundings this one, both in decor, condition, staff and the other clientele were lovely! Kind of wish this was our local.

Had a large mixed grill and it was cooked superbly. Toilets nice and clean and the staff were chatty and knowledgeable. Everything you need in a pub.

Not too busy pleasant atmosphere ..Coffee's refillable no extra charge ..

Dump,a place you wipe your feet on the way out! Always filled with same crowd who's only goal is to get wreaked for another day. Should replace the carpet with sawdust as it'd be easier to keep clean!

A distinct lack of atmosphere and dreadfully slow bar staff. Has a reputation for barring customers for petty reasons. Avoid at all costs.

Great place to go for a breakfast. You couldn't cook it at home for any less. And it's nice to get out to see a bit of the world, especially if you're a single person eating there. Don't worry, many others are.

Been here a couple of times. It's not the best or worst spoons lve been to. massive garden. friendly staff guide dogs allowed.

Love Wetherspoons ; perhaps you do too. They do vary a bit and the Earl of Dalkeith always strikes me as one of the best, the best I've been to anyway, and that is a lot. Went for breakfast. Tempted by a perfect beer flavoured beer - Ruddles. And coffee. And the meal itself was superb. I want a big W on my passport. Different world...

Monday 12th August 2024 I just Waited over one hour for fish and chips. When I enquired about how much longer I would need to wait , I was told that the food was brought to the table and NO ONE was at the table. Oh my goodness. I have GREEN hair and am a Black American …I guess I’m invisible ??? First and last time entering this place. Not nice 👍🏾 y’all need to do better

Standard spoons pub, good value drinks.

Food was fantastic, Liam in particular was a great server and provided immaculate customer service. Would recommend this place to all residents of Kettering!

Popped into The Earl on our way through Kettering and ordered a couple of breakfasts. They were OK, typical Wetherspoons fodder to be honest. The pub was far from spectacular and average enough to merit a visit. The breakfasts were warm, well cooked and filled a gap. Wether they were good enough to visit again is debatable though. Ok but not great.

Nice pub but as with any wetherspoons would it kill them to get a music license??

Recently started using The Earl again after experiencing a dingy pub with no atmosphere and rough clientele but now it is being run by a group of fantastic girls and what a turn around they have made such a difference and they should be so proud

Started out OK... but a very rude 'supervisor' used the words... 'WERE CLOSED NOW SO YOU NEED TO GET OUT' Yound lad maybe 20... appalling customer service

What have they done to the menu. You used to get a decent burger and it included a drink. Those days are long gone. You get a crap “American burger” now and you don’t get a drink included you have to pay extra for that. I ordered two double American cheeseburgers and they turned up without the cheese. On checking the staff took the order down wrong. I had only paid for non cheese variety but as they don’t read back your order you have no way of knowing if they have entered it correctly. What turned up were flat disappointing buns with horrible looking burgers inside that tasted of nothing. They have changed and it’s rubbish quality. I hate to say it but McDonalds would have been better and a cheaper option as they charge £8 plus a burger

Ordered burger and chips with alcoholic drink. Prices have increased as with everything else, but with that quality should also have improved! Absolutely not the case, food was cold and burger was just awful, zero care seemed to have been given when prepared or served. Food used to be value for money but no longer. Very disappointing. Wouldn’t eat here again I’m afraid.

Good value,cheap drinks and food yet good quality..town centre,so handy.. so great if your thirsty or hungry or just want to have a quick drink with friends after work.

Very nice breakfast on a Saturday morning

Always love going to the Earl of Dalkeith for a drink and a bite to eat. Everything is reasonably priced, and there is nearly always an offer on. Food is always perfectly warm and tastes great.

Can't fault it. Came in here to read (which is perfect upstairs), had a burger and just a Pepsi. Fast service, great atmosphere and generally the interior looks great.

If you like a hard, burnt burger in a bun with soggy chips, this is the place for you, it was inedible, sent it back and had a dessert instead!, member of staff was very apologetic though.

Dreadful pub, rude and incompetent staff, awful food, poor service, bad all round. Staff are rather blinkered and they seem content to bar people at will.

Quite a wait to be served due to only one serving for 15 minutes. Pleasant service from the busy staff. Some interesting pictures on the wall. Nicely decorated and clean throughout.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. They assisted us in warming my friend's daughter's milk.

A very messy and dated weatherspoons

It's a 'spoons so ifcyou' ve been to one you've been them all. Mixed grill was good but steak was medium not rare as ordered.

Went there for the first time in over 20 years, was pleasantly surprised, 3 breakfast's & 3 hot drinks for under £20. Will definitely not wait as long next time before revisiting.

This is a nice pub, the staff are excellent and really friendly, Danny was brilliant and I was impressed with his help and quality of service.. the pub perhaps could use a refresh as some aspects are a little dated. Overall it’s a good pub and I’m happy to recommend this place for both food and drinks…

Usual Wetherspoons menu, good well prepared food at real value prices. Nicely decorated pub with lovely windows, almost like a church! Well located near the town centre. Good for lunch and drinks. Updated 08/07/23: Still just as good and excellent value. Updated again 23/10/23 Still good

To many chairs and tables in the way of getting upstairs to the toilets really need to remove them
