The best restaurants serving British food in England

Very nice ambience and a great coffee . Location is right next to the oxen home Lake District station. And also they have lot of car parkings as well

We stayed one night and ate in restaurant. Only had starters but food was very nice. Friendly staff member called Olly. Couldn’t have been more helpful. Good nights sleep. Then breakfast !! One male member of staff who just couldn’t be bothered. Zero customer service. Got us a hot drink but no offer of fruit juice, toast or any cereal. Glasses on table too. Hot breakfast was lovely though.

Pedimos del menú de 'picaduras lite' ya que ninguno de los dos teníamos hambre. Mi pollo Hunters era hermoso, pero mis maridos eglefino y patatas fritas era de risa. Recibió un trozo de pescado de no más de 2 "pero guisantes que llenaban dos tercios de su plato y algunas patatas fritas muy grumosas. Entiendo que el precio del pescado ha subido de precio, pero su comida realmente parecía "la que se escapó". También nos sentamos en la zona donde se permiten perros y estaba absolutamente helado, la primera vez que he usado mi abrigo para comer una comida. Permítanme sugerir algún tipo de calefacción en esa área para que las personas con perros puedan disfrutar de su comida sin verse restringidas por las prendas exteriores.

Lovely Christmas dinner. The staff were very efficient and polite.

We were impressed with the pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant with well spaced tables. The menu included typical pub favourites. We chose and enjoyed the burger and gammon mains at £18 each. In our one week holiday in the area, eating out each night, we found the Apple Inn to be one of the best.

We all had lovely lunch time meals everything was freshly cooked and delicious.. real home made chips.. lovely staff made us feel really welcome.. we will be back

We came here last night for a meal and was one of the best home cooked meals I ever had. The staff were so lovely and we even got to play some darts before our food came!

The carvery experience at The Traveler's Rest surpassed all expectations. The moment we entered, the aroma of roasting meat filled the air. The beef was the star of the show – tender, juicy, and bursting with flavour, crispy roast potatoes and fresh veg. Amazing pub, delicious food, friendly staff & atmosphere

Dropped in for a quick drink after shopping. It's a lovely traditional pub with a warm cosy fire, great selection of drinks and a very friendly and pleasant bar staff. Outside there is a nice seating area and good size carpark.

Visited a few times in the past couple of weeks while visiting where we used to live, good food and ale, good atmosphere and friendly staff, see you on our next visit 😊

Another return visit to the Masons Arms and honestly can’t believe why anyone would have cause for complaint. I suppose you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Having visited for both lunch and dinner this past week it remains a highlight of any visit to the Lake District. The location, the staff, the food and drinks selection are top notch. The evidence is surely the number of customers who seek it out on a weekday at the end of October creating a buzzy but comfortable atmosphere. If the brewery have any refurbishment plans please don’t ruin the eclectic charm of the interior. If anything could be improved it might be the replacement of the spotlights on the beam for something a little more subtle, but this is personal preference and in no way detracts from the overall ambience. We look forward to our next and ongoing visits.

Glen era un servidor fabuloso, muy atento y encendido, nada era demasiado. La comida era preciosa y en general el ambiente era increíble! Sophie la anfitriona era acogedor y profesional

We were a group of seven. Immediately accommodated with excellent attention by our waitress. We all ordered soufflés which were up to the usual high standard. The coffee was delicious, strong and tasty 😋 All in all 10/10 !!
