The best restaurants serving British food in England

I wanted to share some feedback following a visit to the King’s Arms in Horsham last night—a venue I’ve enjoyed many times in the past for its great beer and welcoming atmosphere. On this occasion, however, I was served a pint of bitter that was clearly cloudy. Having worked in the licensed trade myself, I understand that this can happen from time to time. I raised the issue with the barmaid, who sought assistance from the manager. When the manager approached, she acknowledged that the pint was cloudy and explained that she had accidentally knocked the barrel in the cellar, which had disturbed the sediment. I suggested that in such a case, the beer should not be served until it has resettled, but she insisted it was “fine.” I disagreed and asked for the pint to be replaced, only to be told that I would need to pay for the replacement. I declined and chose to leave the pub. While I understand that things sometimes go wrong, I believe the key is in how such situations are handled. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the attitude and response were not in keeping with the high standards I associate with the King’s Arms. I felt it was important to let you know, as this is not what one expects from an establishment known for its quality real ales. Calm, comfortable, well catered, very enjoyable. We went here with friends while staying locally. We saw the pub had previously been awarded pub of the year and understood why. Unhurried, high quality food and wine in a delightful atmosphere.

Regularmente voy a Hart & Lova a comprar pan de masa madre para el desayuno. Es el mejor Pan de Masa Madre que he probado. No es tan difícil como los disponibles en las marcas populares y altamente anunciadas High Street. El Café tiene personal atento y amable y nunca me decepciona la calidad.

Vaya, podrías entrar y pensar que se ve bastante básico, pero tuvimos el desayuno estándar, que era más que suficiente con porciones generosas de frijoles y un enorme hachís marrón, y estaba delicioso. Todo absolutamente caliente - quiero decir tan caliente que todavía estaba caliente para cuando llegué al último bocado. Gran té y chocolate caliente también. Honestamente, el mejor desayuno fuera, nunca (porque la mayoría de los otros tienen frijoles fríos helados) - le daría 1000 / 5 si pudiera.

Very limited vegan options. And the 50p charge for non cows milk is unjustifiable. Very helpful and friendly staff helped to find something to eat. And it was tasty.

We called the pub asking if they were able to cater for 3 of us carers a Sunday lunch. They explained how they’re under a lot of pressure today with it being Mother’s Day and fully booked up. But still said to pop in and they would sort 3 meals to take out. Food was smashing! Service was fantastic! We will definilty be back Thankyou again

We called up to book about table a week before at 1pm for Lunch on a Saturday and were offered a table at 1:30pm which we were happy with. When we arrived at 1:30pm we ordered and the place was busy which we appreciate that food may take longer that usual 45 mins later starters turned up. The food tasted good to be fair but arrived with no apologies for the delay. After the starters it was another 1 hour 15 mins before the mains arrived to 2 hours after to arrived for lunch. Food was pretty good although some chips were undercooked. We also had pasta dishes arrived 20 mins before the rest so they had finished before everyone else. They also had the garlic bread after they finished the pasta so just ate dry garlic bread. I would eat there again for the food but the service was a shame. We were a big table of 10 but had 2 children very hungry. For me it was the fact that there was no explanation or apology for the delay. We expected a longer wait but not 2 hours wait. If they just came and explained/apologies there would be no need for a bad review. A simple offer of a free drink would have been more than enough.

The owner and waiter were lovely people and the main courses we had were freshly made and really very tasty. The shiraz and Irish coffee were also very good. Five stars so far. Service was however a bit too slow. The restaurant is small and you need to book and need to allow plenty of time.

Last week we had our wedding reception at Confessions. We used the full day hire package which meant we had access to the venue from 10am. Confessions is an absolutely stunning and unique venue which ticks all the boxes, all of our guests including us loved it. Hannah and Lucie were amazing in the whole run up to the event, from the first time enquiring Hannah was so welcoming and nothing was too much to ask for! In the few weeks before Lucie would check in to make sure we were okay and needed anything else ready for the day! We can't thank them enough for ensuring our day ran smoothly even when we areived earlier than expected from our ceremony they were ready for us! We used their resident DJ recommended by Hannah and they were fantastic! The music choices they made from reading the room we fab and everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you so much to the Confessions team for making our day so amazing!🤍

Had a veggie breakfast which looked, which was delicious and fresh . Eggs were amazing and cooked to perfection. Partner had regular breakfast which looked good too. The guy who served us was friendly . The cafe was spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend and return

Attended on a Saturday night, was lovely and busy which was good to see, glad we had booked. Service is always spot on, they work so hard! Slight delay on the drinks, however there were no free tables so to be expected. Food was delicious, had the curry, burger was made gluten free, steak looked good and the lamb shank was delicious. Would love to see a mixed grill special soon please! See you soon

I had a couple of queries about a diamond ring I had and I can only describe the staff as incredible! They were friendly helpful and clearly expert jewellers. I would definitely recommend a trip to Berridges for any jewellery purchase.

This is what a pub should be like. Great atmosphere, full of village locals and a proper landlord who knows what he is doing. 10/10.

Well kept secret! Although this hotel is in centre of town the restaurant is surprisingly quiet. Not frequented by many locals. The food here is excellent. Great menu, every course we had was delicious. Our party had beautiful cheese soufflés, seafood pappardelle, cod, and chicken mains, all well presented and tasty. Lovely desserts too. A couple of bottles of wine reasonably priced. Everyone enjoyed the dinner and would definitely make a return visit.
