We stopped here on a wet Sunday morning for coffee and cake. First irritation - very strange way of queuing to place an order, even though we were not having hot food. We waited almost 30 minutes to receive our order, which was partially incorrect and had to be replaced. The coffee was pretty awful but the cakes were quite nice. So, this will not be a coffee stop again. It's a shame as some of the food looked really nice - just let down by poor service.

This about the new restaurant up by Tesco which opened a couple of months ago. All good except the price of flat white coffee at £3.55 which is crazy Qiuiche £5.35 which I though was better than the medium pasty at £ 4.65. Plenty of parking but only 2 disabled slots. Nice views

We were here for a day and did a google for somewhere to buy a pasty. The first time I went in to buy one I was put off by the size.A large pasty would be a small to medium where I come from .I make them myself the size of a plate. Staff were pleasant and I bought 2 coffees which we enjoyed sat at their outside table. we had a wander around the centre of wadebridge,a beautiful town well worth a visit I gave in later and bought a small steak pasty £2.50 .It was alright is the best I can say. The pastry was ok but the contents were mostly veg with the odd minute piece of meat .Not sure if it was steak,I'll take their word for it. Tasty and slightly peppery and I was searching for a rennie later that evening. Would't recommend nor will I go out of the way to buy again. Good for the tourists though. Overrrated.

I visited Wadebridge this week after many years, I grew up in the area, went to school there and my aunt even worked for Barney’s back in the 70’s. I now live in west Cornwall (didn’t go far!) I thought it would be nice to take home a Barnecutts tea treat bun. The staff were very friendly and pleasant, definitely above your average shop staff. But this is where my great nostalgic experience ended sadly. The saffron tea treat bun was a huge disappointment. The traditional saffron tea treat bun was something of substance with plenty of fruit, a soft but textured body, and a definite taste of saffron. Not Nutmeg!! Examination of the ingredients list shows the saffron content to be a magnificent 0.02% and did indeed confirm it contained nutmeg, presumably to compensate for the distinct lack of fruit and flavour. Bland, tasteless and very sad to see that a Cornish tea time favourite has been desecrated in this way. What a shame.

After taking the challenge of having 1 pasty a day during our Cornwall holiday and inevitably sampling pasties from multiple bakeries (which had to supply gluten free options in order to be eligible), the family decided that the traditional pasties from Malcolm Barnecut were consistently at the top of the leaderboard (regular & GF pasties). They offer both freshly baked pasties (have to wait 1.5hrs though for gluten free - so plan ahead), or you can take frozen pasties home to bake in your oven (we tried both options & both were equally as good). Fantastic tasting pasties! 🤤

Stopped off in Wadebridge to pick up pasties to eat on the beach. Couldn’t have chosen better. Can’t speak for the beef ones, but the vegetable and cheese and onion pasties were excellent. Firm, light, crisp pastry and generous, well seasoned fillings. We ate them on sitting on a rock, looking out to sea. Could not improve on location or lunch.

One taste from any of the huge range of baked goods offered by Malcolm Barnecutt and you’re unlikely to go back to buying supermarket breads, savoury slices and cakes. Famous throughout north Cornwall for their superb traditional Pasties, Barnecutts’ wide range of breads - including special dietary versions on set days each week - is excellent. They have a taste, consistency and delicacy all of their own and at reasonable prices. If you are visiting Wadebridge, please be aware that the town benefits by having two “Malcolm Barnecutts” shops: the main shop is on Molesworth Street, the slightly smaller shop is on The Platt. Bread-slicing is only available in the Molesworth Street branch, but this is only a hundred metre walk from shop on The Platt. Everything is baked fresh each day (except Sunday’s as both shops in Wadebridge are closed) and their cakes, scones and croissants are every bit as good. “Barnies” - my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

They have a bit of a monopoly in North Cornwall and don't seem to have that many decent competitors which is a shame because there are areas where I think they really need to up their game.Sadly that appears unlikely given that they have a formula which seems to appeal to a lot of people, [In particular, wealthy visitors] or is it that there is relatively little choice in the areas where they have their shops?I suspect part of their appeal is the sheer variety they offer but that comes at a price. Considering the volumes they must sell, they are on the expensive side, presumably to offset the inevitable waste.I find their bread, [Well, the white sandwich loaf] to be one of the best breads I have ever tasted, but I think £1.75 is unnecessarily expensive. They are making it impossible for families on low income to buy their bread. Accordingly I say the same for their sandwiches. They are delicious, both the bread and the quality and volume of filling. If it were not for their bread and sandwiches I wouldn't shop there and these are the reasons why.I was appalled to watch packets of sandwiches being slung into black bags, by staff, at the end of the day. This was a year or so ago in the Wadebridge, Molesworth street shop. I really hope that pressure has been put on them to stop this terrible waste. I trust that they have now subscribed to a scheme where left overs are given to a charity. If such a scheme has not been available, I do think, that for a company who are so high profile in Cornwall, they should have been instrumental in finding a route from their shops to people in need.My next gripe is that the staff, whilst professional, tend to rush customers to make decisions and they are not particularly helpful with regard to anything other than bog standard requests. The staff may be efficient but the overall impression they give out is both aloof and impatient. [Some bordering on snooty, petulant and surly]If they run out of sliced bread, they are not geared up to slicing bread for you. Again, I have to say, the are a big operation, opening yet more shops all the while, but they won't provide shops with the means to slice a loaf? Does it make the insurance too high? Then there are the cakes. A huge array of them, looking very tempting under those lights. Buy them any later than mid morning and they are dried out. I don't know whether certain types of individual cake are carried over for a second day or more. Sometimes it's difficult to decide if they are stale or just dried out by the lights. My observations over many years apply to the two Wadebridge shops, Bodmin, Rock [A travesty, imo. that the original and excellent Rock bakery was replaced by MB's] and now Newquay. If you want a REALLY good pasty, go to Aunt Avices in St Kew Highway. Can't be beaten. Succulent, meaty pasties, it's an old school independent, not far from Wadebridge, Rock and Bodmin. You can park. You can get fresh slices of sponge cake, wrapped, so not dried out and above all the staff are a delight .... and so helpful. Places like that deserve the loyalty and custom of locals and will show visitors what a "Proper" Cornish establishment can, [and should] be like.

I have shopped from Barnecutts Bakeries for years. They were always renowned for good service and good food. I don't know what has happened, but in the last six months things have gone downhill. The pasties are either running in grease or dry (whatever flavour I have tried), the cakes taste stale, and the staff are less and less helpful.. Today, I was in Wadebridge. I thought I would call in to the Molesworth Street branch for some bread. There was not a staff member to be seen. I left and went to the bank, came back and still no staff! I went to Baker Toms in the end. I don't know what has happened, but I think it is quite sad that a mainstay of the town is getting so bad.

We have lost count of the number of Cornish Pasties we have eaten and whilst most of them are ok there is only one that stands out above all as the best in the world. The quality of the filling just the right amount of meat vegetables and pepper cooked properly in a really beautiful pastry case add up to perfection. We moved to Cornwall last year after visiting the county for over 50 years and were delighted to find that a new branch had been opened quite near to us in Camborne and have become regular visitors even exporting some to our family in Scotland. Very welcoming, Great ice cream flavours. Especially the Ferrero Roche and Millionaires shortbread. Lady went above and beyond for our dog letting her sit in the shade on a 25 degree day to enjoy her pup cup. Thank you!

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.
