I was very disappointed by the service and judgement we received from staff in the jewellers. We went into the town centre to do some wedding ring shopping. Walked into the store and a smartly dressed man approached us and asked what we were after. My partner explained the kind of design she was looking for and the man seemed very dismissive and pointed us towards a small cabinet on the floor that had approx 6 rings in it. That may have been all they had under the description, however the way that message was given to us was very poor. We felt immediately judged when walking into the jewellers and felt like they were saying what they needed to say to get us out of the store as quickly as they could. Fortunately we had a list of jewellers we wanted to visit that day and were able to find somewhere that would take our money for such a ring. When visiting another jewellers in town, when asked where else we had been to enquire about rings, when mentioning Burridge’s, even they described the staff as being snobby. Don’t judge people too quickly, we would not walk into your jewellers if we did not have the budget to make a purchase.

What a lovely little restaurant / coffee shop. I have walked past so many times before and not realised there was a restaurant above the jewellery shop. It kind of reminds me of wonderful Croydons restaurant that I used to visit years ago. The staff are really efficient, courteous and friendly. We only stopped for coffee but did especially enjoy the cheese scone & toasted teacake. If you want a lovely quiet stop without all the hustle and bustle of the big chain coffee shops then this is perfect.

The food has always been very lovely And dessert trolley always looks amazing, Altho everything apart from the cakes are swamped in Chives! -Not bad if you like Chives-I spose. But I have to say in the last year or so the dessert trolley has been rather Lack-Lust, The quality of the cakes has hit rock bottom-And now all the desserts are made with gluten free flour,They are crumbly and horrible. But worse than that- The Staff don't even tell us customers that what they are serving up are gluten free...What A Joke!!!! Whenever I visit my mother in Suffolk we quite often pay a visit to nearby Ipswich which has always included a visit to Berridges for a coffee and cake. After the last visit we will not trouble the place again. After climbing the stairs from the shop to the restaurant we noticed the area was busy being late morning with only two tables unoccupied. One was reserved while the other was being cleared. The female member of staff clearing the table invited us to be seated at it. Almost immediately another member of staff approached our table and rather rudely informed us we were not to sit there since it was reserved for other customers and we would have to vacate though there was nowhere else to sit. I informed her we had been invited to be seated there which resulted in a discussion between three members of staff debating whether we should be allowed to remain seated at the table and it was agreed we should. We both found this embarrassing and disrespectful but unfortunately it did not end there. My mother and I were quite astounded when a couple arrived shortly after and were seated at the reserved table. They were attended to immediately with their orders taken and served before us while we were ignored. This is the last time we will visit since there are plenty of good cafes and restaurants in Ipswich some of whom might show a bit more appreciation of their customers than Berridges.

Whenever we find ourselves in Ipswich, we always try and fit a lunch in at Berridges. The food is always tasty and beautifully presented. The staff are always polite and helpful. There is always a "specials" board and a good selection of gorgeous homemade cakes. On our last visit, there was coronation chicken served with salad, which I thought was an odd combination but I decided to give it a try. When my plate arrived, it was beautifully arranged and was absolutely fantastic. For dessert, we tried the Viennese fingers. They were the best I have ever tasted and were so light. This place is only small and can get very busy at times. It has the added bonus of the jewellers shop below, so it is definitely a gem of a place.

As a regular at Berridges for lunch it is always worth the climb to see what the desserts table has to offer. Sometimes the rarely available but oh so delicious Chefs Hat is there. Now that is a treat but yesterday it was not but there was a new item on the table. It was described as apple and cinnamon cake. A twin layer of homemade sponge with a fresh apple and buttercream filling topped with more buttercream. The secret waz to flavour the cream with cinnamon which made it really tasty. A truly great combination. The team know I admire their handiwork but never give more than 4 out of 5!

I guess most people visiting this place would be talking about the cafe. Yes I’ve been and the food (though in my view very expensive) is good and you get a great cup of tea, there is more here than the cafe. The jewellery shop downstairs offers a bespoke and special service if you are looking for something really special. I received the most beautiful set of pearls and matching earrings chosen by my husband with care and attention to detail from the patient and wonderful staff assisting him with the purchase. We have been in several times since and gazed at the wonderful jewels on offer but have yet to buy anything else. Yet they still welcome us and are patient with our browsing. They also have a great selection of second hand Jewelley available. Definitely recommend them for everything from purchasing jewellery to repairs and refreshment. It feels almost like our own old fashioned family jewellers.

I used to really like Berridges and considered it a bit of an oasis in a fairly dire town. However on our last visit they had a bit of a go at us for booking a table for lunch but only one of us actually had lunch. The restaurant was actually almost empty making their point somewhat pointless. It sounds trivial but we won't go to either the shop or the cafe again, especially as there is a far better jewellers, Robert Gatwood, right close by where you get coffee as part of a very enjoyable buying experience.

We have been here several times as there are so few decent places in town to stop for a quiet cuppa. The cafe is situated above Berridges jewellery shop. It is clean, the staff are discreet and efficient and on the whole I can't really find fault with it. However it is a bit pricey, £8 for macaroni cheese is in my opinion excessive. The sandwiches are also rather dear, however I will continue to pay it as there is nowhere else in town that offers better service. In his 70's it was a far more civilised experience than going into one of the many coffee shops in town - a pot of tea and beautifully cooked eggs and mushrooms with toast served by smiling staff and the atmosphere not stuffy! The cakes look amazing and the lunch menu very varied ....... a real find!

We have been regular visitors to Berridges Coffee Shop and can honestly say that the food is always very good, the selection of cakes is excellent, potion sizes are large so we always share one (honest!). The service has always been very good. Make sure you book a table as its very popular!

Berridges may not be offering a wide range but they serve some classic home cooked items with some nice fancy options if you want them. The specials change regularly and are all home cooked. The cakes/desserts are well worth the climb up the stairs and are a real treat. Staff look after you well. We notice there are many regulars who return week after week so it must be pretty good.

Berridges is a really nice coffee shop which is part of an independant, upmarket jewellers in the centre of Ipswich. Its a great place to take a break from shopping and relax for half an hour, the staff are always very pleasant and the menu unusual and well presented. For me its the best place to go in town. Unfortunately we dont go often as the extortionate parking costs in Ipswich generally mean that we go in, do whats necessary, and leave before the next increment of the parking meter. Ipswich Borough Council have much to answer for.

Tucked away above the divine jewellers that bears the same name, a friend and I popped up the stairs to this delightful but quite small restaurant for early afternoon tea, one of us had scones, jam and cream and the other a slice of lemon meriingue pie with our earl grey tea. Everything was home made and delicious. The waitress very friendly too. I have eaten lunch here too, and they make a variety of interesting open sandwiches to several special cooked dishes on the black board, in addition to the menu, but for lunch it is essential to book. The bonus too is browsing and sometimes being tempted to buy the truly beautiful jewellery on offer in the shop below. A lovely place to meet a friend, or read one of the magazines in the rack if you are dining on your own.. An individual and real 'Gem'..

My partner and I discovered this hidden gem yesterday whilst shopping in ipswich. A small cafe hidden away above a jewellers. Excellent homemade cakes and pastries. The salt beef open sandwich was wonderful, we look forward to returning again very soon.

Hidden in the upstairs of a Jewllers, Berridge is a great little place for breakfast, lunch and tea. The cakes are amazing, as is the coffee and hot chocolate. Had lunch yesterday- beef casserole was delicious and filling, whilst my tikka massala was (an unexpected find) rich and juicy- could hace done with a bit more sauce given the amount of rice, in my opinion. Had a gorgeous and huge Yule log for pudding.Very modestly priced too- I'd highly recommend it!

The K Bar in Kensington is a fantastic spot for a classy yet relaxed evening. The atmosphere is stylish and cozy, with dim lighting and plush seating that make it great for catching up or unwinding. The cocktails are incredible—creative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. Our waiter gave some excellent recommendations that didn’t disappoint, making the experience even better. The service overall was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and not overbearing. If you’re in the area and want great drinks with a laid-back but refined vibe, The K Bar is definitely worth checking out.

I love this place! Me and my sister go, order enough for 4 people and pig out. The man who works there is so charming and friendly.
