Nice batter on the fish, well cooked chips and decent size portions. The fish was not cooked fresh to order but didn’t taste like it had been sitting around too long. Small cod, chips and mushy peas cost £12.50. The peas seem disproportionately expensive at £2.50. Working locally I would have tried Riverside before for lunch but their lunchtime hours finish very early (before most people even start their lunch hour I would have thought.)

Started staying here while working in the area. Rooms are of a good size with good selection of complimentary coffee and biscuits. Breakfast is a good size and always freshly cooked with a selection of fruit juices, cereals and fruit. Meals in the restaurant are excellent with a good selection for all on the menu and the added bonus of a daily curry which have been superb quality

Lovely old fashioned tearoom with over 30 varieties of tea . Food is excellent and reasonably priced and has daily specials. The menu is simple but the food is better for it. There is also some B&B rooms attached, plus outside seating. Dogs are allowed Overall I would recommend a visit to this little gem of a place.

An excellent and enjoyable breakfast in the courtyard in the sun. Pleasant efficient service, good coffee and other drinks. Pancakes with bacon, eggs on sourdough and shakshuka all first rate. Nearby public car park makes this a go to place . While we ate outside, the restaurant interior is attractive, light and airy too.

This place is so good that you must book to avoid disappointment! We had planned to eat in Scarborough town centre having had a lovely afternoon watching a film and shopping, but the place we'd chosen had decided to close early because they'd had 2 busy days! I rang Walkers and threw ourselves on their mercy. They were of course fully booked on this Saturday night, but felt so sorry for us that they gave us a table in their pudding bar. There's a huge choice of meals, all beautifully hot and tasty and the staff are very friendly and efficient. I always have the haddock and prawn mornay which has a creamy sauce and is full of fish. It comes with chips, boiled potatoes or a side salad and on this occasion I chose the side salad, which was enormous and so much better than the usual small dish of limp leaves and tiny bits of tomato and red onion that places usually call a side salad (see photo). In the summer I usually choose the crayfish tails salad, which is also superb value, full of fresh salad and fruit with a most generous portion of crayfish tails. I've twice been with friends who've had to ask for a box to take home half of their portion which they've enjoyed for their lunch the following day at home! We're so lucky to have this wonderful, family run restaurant near us. Do go - but do ring first to book or you will be disappointed!

A mix of village inn and restaurant with rooms, the Swan had been impressing visitors with its food and drink for many years before closing in 2024. After a couple of months it reopened and if anything is now even better than it was. Confident, imaginative cooking is backed up by good cellaring of beers and wines. The atmosphere is warm, mellow and welcoming, setting a high standard for others in the area to try to beat, unsuccessfully this far. And it is still getting better.

We stumbled across this lovely tearoom and had such a wonderful welcome. The staff were super friendly and made us feel really relaxed. The afternoon tea was loved by all, and the warm scones were just what we hoped for. Delicious! Highly recommend

Friends of ours visit regularly and when we were looking to meet up, they suggested this fabulous place, our first visit will not be our last. I would describe the decor as ‘woody and warm’, lots of wood, books and tasteful nik naks. A beautiful well stocked bar welcomes you on arrival. We were warmly greeted and shown to a lovely table. Our food was delicious, we all chose the Hake on Mediterranean vegetables in a light tomato sauce, think upmarket ratatouille. Unfortunately they only had 3 portions of Hake, however they were able to provide Sea Bass fillets with the same accompaniments. The fish was perfectly cooked, the vegetables had a lovely textured crunch, just delicious. Three of our party succumbed to desserts: a huge portion of STP, crumble with custard and the most beautifully presented pannacotta. A fabulous evening: great company, food, service and a not too shabby bill. Highly recommended.

Had a couple of hours child free and came for a bite to eat with my partner at lunch. Both had the fish and chips and it was delicious.... as good as by the seaside! Couldn't have asked for a nicer date setting, not only are the views breathtaking but the staff treated us like old friends and made us feel so welcome!
