Popped in for the cod and chips from the lunch menu. The menu has been updated and this now costs £9, not £6.50, which was fine. However for the size of the cod they give you, it’s really not worth it. Ur better off going elsewhere for a full sized medium cod and chips for the same price. It was not much bigger than the width of a chip.. I also did ask for the size before ordering and the cod I was shown compared to what we received was definitely not the same. Tastes good but overpriced for minuscule portions. Was disappointing to spent that and still be hungry after.

A "fish house" since 1890. So if you want to eat traditional fish and chips, then go there.

I can say I’ve never had any problems here in the past, the cod and chips are just mega tasty, highly recommend but wait a while. I was in a rush but the queue was so busy I think it needs better management and more staff

This is a perfect fish and chips spot. It’s a take-away but well worth the added effort. The cod, haddock and rock eel- all were perfect. Huge amounts and we finished every bite. Too good not to!

A sublime Fish and Chippy that has been our go-to spot ever since we moved to the area a couple of years ago. On our most recent visit, they accidentally forgot an item from our takeaway order. However, they went above and beyond to make it right by delivering the missing fish along with extra hot chips. They were genuinely apologetic, which really stood out. This lovely, locally-run place serves fantastic food, paired with equally outstanding customer service. Truly a neighbourhood gem!

Lovely local fish and chip shop. Traditional fish and chips cooked to perfection, beautiful flakey white fish in crispy batter, chunky potato chips. Very helpful, friendly staff. Don't be put off by queues out of the shop and down the road - service is fast and members of the family run restaurant will come and take your order. Check the deli next door, also fab.

Not only was the food amazing the customer service was great! Best chippy I’ve tried in London (coming from a Scottish seaside town myself) . Will definitely be back!

Amazing chippy worth the long drive. Great cod not had cod like it. Staff was amazing too and defo order the Irish curry sauce. The cheese and onion pasty was so light and delicious. From the couple in Windsor :-) we will be back :-)

We had a wonderful lunch from the Golden Chip and I would recommend anyone in the area to give it a try! The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection, and the chips were simply incredible! I live in Norway and we don’t get chips of that quality here. 😄 The price was extremely reasonable too, and when I next visit my friend in Hanwell we’ll be back for sure!

If you want to try a traditional BRITISH fish and chips shop then come here. The worst thing about this restaurant is that it's in a very akward part of West London. I live on the other side of London and after you've tried The Golden Chip of Hanwell other chip shops don't taste the same. Almost every chip shop I go to use beef instead of Hanwell's pork sausages. And in the 1979 movie Scum, a kid complained about "the batter not being crispy". After trying Hanwell's, I got it lol. Hanwell use a crunchy style batter for their fish and sausages which is notslagic to my childhood. Most chip shops that I've gone to use a cheaper batter which is less crispy. The potatoes Hanwell use are the biggest difference to every chip shop I've tried in London. I guess thats why Hanwell's is a little more expensive than other chip shops. You get what you pay for! I'm not the biggest fan of their southern fried chicken but the fish and chips are the star of the show

Well cooked F&C. As my son and I were on a hike we wanted something tasty but not over-filling, so roll on the smaller lunchtime cod and chips. VERY helpful staff who gave us a few options including seating and disposed of the empty cartons later. Possibly a tad pricey, but it's so hard to tell in this day and age. Worth seeking out.

Last night I had fish and chips from The Golden Chip. Hands down the best I have ever tasted! The fish tasted so fresh. The batter so crunchy and not greasy or thick. Absolutely delicious. Anyone visiting London wanting to taste real English fish and chips must try The Golden Chip..........and it's only 10 mins walk from Hanwell Station on the Elizabeth line!

I have lived in West London for more than 45 years and i have witnessed the borough change over time, from being known as the Las Vegas of west London with all its Bars and Nightclubs, to being the fast food capital of west London. Food as a whole has evolved over time thanks to the offerings predominantly being restaurants that offer a take away service to the traditional chippy on every corner. However as our tastes evolved thanks to the exposure to the many cultures that now live and work in the borough of Ealing, and the introduction of fast foods from around the world, the more traditional of fast foods that is quintessentially British have all but disappeared. The humble chip shop is now more elusive than ever. However today i stumbled across The Golden Chip in Hanwell. A small British oasis in a desert of fast foods nestled in the heart of Hanwell at 33 Boston road, W7 3SH. the staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel like you belong on the set of East Enders with the nick name they give you so that they remember your order to the amazing quality of the food. Amazing battered Cod that was crisp and the chips that were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. All in all an amazing fish and chips on a Friday night. If there is one thing that i would say to anyone that wants to visit, be prepared to queue as they get busy. They are very efficient and to get through the queue pretty quick though. Can't recommend highly enough. A must visit if you like your fish and chips. An incredible asset to the borough and its community.

Superb fish & chippy! I ordered a medium cod, a large cod, large haddock and 2 large chips, which came to ~£35. All tasted excellent, light/fresh oil used for the batter, chips not too greasy. Will definitely return!

I walked past and dropped in as the smell was too good to miss! Got sausage and chips and was lovely and hot and tasty, the guy and lady behind the counter were really friendly and happy / chatty. I’m moving to that area so I will be back and will be bringing my mates with me! Reminds me of the chippys I grew up around which you don’t find many these days in London

Hot food fast service Friendly staff

This was my first experience to have fish n chip. We were passing by the shop, long queue caught our attention and we had to stop to try it out. The taste of the cod, haddock was amazing and the same clubbed with batter made it just perfect. Staff was very gentle and they helped me to place my order as I was unaware what type of fish to have. So far the best experience.

I was on vacation and was in search of the best fish and chips. Me and my wife tried probably 8 other places, and there were some good ones, but this was the best that I have had in London! It brought back childhood memories of perfectly cooked fish with malt vinegar and perfectly cooked chips with the salt and vinegar wrapped in news paper. It was sublime!

This is far the best fish and chip shop I've found, in this part of London. Not cheap but not eyewateringly expensive, friendly well run, and utterly consistent top quality.

If there's a better fish and chips in Ealing, I'd love to know. The mark of a good chippy is a light crispy batter that does not overpower the fish, with the fish itself steamed and moist. Chips should be fat, slightly golden and crisp on the outside while soft on the inside. This chippy does alll this with a friendly customer -oriented service. The fact I frequently drive over 20 minuste to this chippy speaks volumes.

I know my fish and chips - and this is unquestionably the best place (plaice?) for them in Ealing. Aggie the owner is an expert at frying fish and it shows - I've never had anything from there that is other than first class. Worth driving to - plenty of parking.

Lovely Chips/ Food Friendly staff One of the Best Fish&Chip Shops around!

Listen guys, this place is so delicious, i went there for my dinner yesterday (cod and chips), and it was so delicious i had to come back for more in the same night, I went back and got two extra cod! The fish here is FRESH! it really is and you can taste the freshness in every bite. They get it delivered from Grimsby everyday (I asked!) Its not overly oily like some other places, its just delicious fresh fish, perfect batter, perfect chips. Easily the best place for fish and chips in West London. Easily. Also they do a cool thing whereby they take your order whilst you queue up, so you don't have to make your order and wait some more for your food. You make your order while in the queue and when you come to front of the queue your food is ready! Stellar service, stellar food. If you love fish chips this without question is your best option, you have to try it here. Amazing staff as well ❤️

I'd heard about The Golden Chip from my sister. This was the first time I went on a very wet rainy ☔ Saturday night. The line outside did not break 2 or 3 people outside and 2 inside. I believe the owner was taking orders, very well organised and getting through the queue as quickly as they could. Now for the food, firstly was very pleased to see they had some veggie options. I bought the veggie burger for my mother and she enjoyed it. I bought a small and large fish and chips. Very pleased as neither were oily. My father said the chips were nice and crispy, he felt there wasn't enough fish though. That was the only negative. Overall the food and service were excellent and I'll definitely be going back to try other food.

The staff are unprofessional and very rude at Golden Chip in Hanwell. They do not follow government guidelines and at times wear Chin Masks. The old woman there spits in the food, coughs over it, sneezes over the food, argues whilst holding the food all whilst NOT WEARING A MASK, she also takes back food from customers and puts it back in their heated shelves for the next customer to buy it. The staffs attitude stinks. The other girl there acts busy by playing with sachets of sauces.If the owner spent more time at work than on holiday; maybe then the super spreader granny could be stopped and staff provided customers more professional service; by not acting like spoilt rude brats.Absolutely disgusting!!!

I and my friend Anna got lunch from here today. She's a regular, and recommended it highly. The fish was good quality and cooked just right. We shared a large chips and it was very satisfying, so I can confirm the comments about the generous servings. I was in the car so I could see only a bit of the interior, but it looked very clean and welcoming. It's certainly a popular place, which says much in itself!
