Joe's Cafe in Brighton and Hove

Found this little cafe online my partner and I fancied a breakfast … first time we have ever been there and WOW what an amazing Atmosphere , extremely welcoming from the get go . It’s also lovely to see all the regulars coming in and having conversations with the owners. Food was also perfect wasn’t a long wait at all . Felt extremely comfortable the whole time. Glad we came across this little hidden gem will definitely be back. Thankyou Julia , Andy and team

Very cozy café! Great atmosphere and exceptionally friendly service. We had breakfast, which was beyond the ordinary. The best breakfast place in Brighton. I actually think they are the best in England!

Great value for money. Lovely staff member working so hard on her own. Smoothies were delicious. Ice coffee huge and great value. The meat hash was a great portion. Bacon sandwich filled with bacon. Great veggie and vegan options. Cute interior. Will definitely be returning!

Bought a ‘Cumberland’ Sausage sandwich at Joes. There is no way in the world the bread was fresh, dry as sand. No one else in the cafe so no excuses. The sausages were also miraculously cooked in less than two minutes so presumably pre cooked them flash fried on the hot plate. Sausages tasted like generic economy versions not Cumberlands. I really don’t like writing negative reviews but for £4.80 I expect a lot better.

Lovely coffee, cakes and omelettes. If George is there a very warm welcome ,accommodating & attentive but if he’s not sometimes staff are rude, sitting down themselves not serving ( it was quiet)

We booked ahead and visited in a group of 12. We loved everything about Joe’s! The food was delicious, great quality and didn’t take long to be served at all (the smoothies were also a big hit) The service was 5 star, very friendly accommodating. Will definitely be visiting again when we are in the area!

stumbled upon here whilst looking for somewhere to sit and read for an hour before work - so glad i did! such a lovely vibe in here (feels very homely and welcoming), all the staff are incredibly kind, the service was way quicker than i expected being a busy weekend with a full house of customers, and the food was absolutely delicious! amazing variety of vegan choices - i had the chilli tomatoes (avocado on sourdough toast with chillis and tomatoes) and an oat vanilla latte. will definitely be coming here again!

I recently visited Joe's Cafe for brunch. Despite it being quite busy when we arrived, the wait for a table was manageable. I opted for the Spanish hash, which turned out to be good and offered decent value for money. The service was also commendable, adding to the overall positive experience. While the bustling atmosphere may not be for everyone, my brunch at Joe's Cafe was enjoyable, and I would consider returning in the future.

Walked in and straight back out the staff were unwelcoming no polite welcome not even eye contact. Floor was slippery and slimy and the table was sticky with that we up and left.

Great local cafe! Had the biggest breakfast and girlfriend had a smoky haddock hash. Would definitely recommend!

Two days in Brighton for work and I’m so glad I stretched my legs to come here for breakfast each day. From simple toast with a lovely latte to a full English with great sausage it was all topped off wonderfully by the friendly staff and cheerful homely atmosphere. A great little place that I’m really glad I found. 😊

Best vegetarian breakfast I have had for a long time!!! Actual vegetarian sausage (not mashed up veg in a sausage shape haha). Extra points because apparently it's a local company that supplies the veggie sausages. The mushrooms and tomatoes produce was really good quality. My brother had a meat Full English - bacon and sausage was perfectly cooked and good quality. Toast was kind of half toasted/half fried. So tasty! My sister has the cheese and tomato toastie which she said was delicious! Wasn't light on the ingredients! Good portion sizes. The 'Big' was big enough. Cafe was really welcoming and the owner is a real character, in the best way. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely going to be the cafe we come back to when we are in Brighton.

Sorry, but £14.80 for 1 sausage, 2 bacon, 1 egg and some potatoes mushrooms, and 2 slices of tomato is daylight robbery. Free cup of tea lol should get unlimited refills for that price. Im not from Brighton, but where i live £14.80 would buy u some insane sized breakfast for that. Erm, it was okay. Nothing special for the price. Didn't feel very welcomed maybe they dont like tracksuit wearer's in this establishment. But overall, it was a waste of time. My mate had more sausage on his sandwich than i did on my breakfast. Never again

Lovely cafe with friendly staff in welcoming suburban neighbourhood. The food was tasty but if you are going for the Hashmageddon be aware that it’s huge and probably big enough for two. Slight concerns around food waste are the only reason I wouldn’t give this place five stars.

We had the most amazing breakfast today! My children were made to feel really welcome and they even made them their own little milkshakes and gave them a colouring book to keep them busy! Will definitely be back!

We visited on a Sunday morning, my friends being local recommended we go there for breakfast as she was craving the avocado on toast with pushed egg and chilli. I had the big breakfast and they kindly switched out the beans for mushrooms. Every item was fresh, so full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and the coffee delicious. Very good value for money.

After reading good reviews we headed here for breakfast away from the main city centre drag and it didn’t disappoint. A nice varied menu with quality ingredients and nice smoothies too. Oh and friendly super efficient service too …. It’s a rare thing to find somewhere that cares about their customers so thank you

We have enjoyed Joe's as an excellent cafe for breakfast, brunch and lunch, and knew that they occasionally opened in the evening for fine dining. So when we were deciding where our family could celebrate Rob's 90th birthday, shared with his son Benedict's 43rd birthday on the same day, it seemed to be a very good choice of venue and so it turned out to be. To have Joe’s Cafe to ourselves took all the stress out of thinking about people making speeches, children running around, noisy conversations etc. It is a place that we know and love; and we couldn’t have felt more welcome and comfortable. To have Julia so charmingly and efficiently looking after us - with constant sensitivity to our needs and desires - made the whole event so pleasurable. To have Andy in the kitchen bringing to bear his Savoy-level skills on such an excellent menu was an incredible treat. Each dish was as perfect as we might have hoped. There was a fair bit of planning involved, and they were kind and supportive at every stage; then, when it finally came to the big day, their execution of the occasion itself was simply flawless. This was a major event in the life of our family, and one that we wished to mark in a suitably special way. They helped us to mark it with a celebration that exceeded all of our expectations, and we are profoundly grateful. We could not recommend Joe's Cafe more h

We visited Joe’s Cafe to celebrate two family birthdays, and were kindly allowed to book the whole establishment for our clan gathering. We could not have been welcomed more warmly, and our every need was anticipated and met with cheerfulness and grace. The food was of great quality; delicious and plentiful, served piping hot despite 14 meals being presented at the same time. We can recommend Joe’s in the very highest terms for every element of the evening.

This cafe may have good fry ups, I don’t know about them. All I had was a Smokey Joe Hash. The tomatoes were tasty but there was no more than a tablespoon of fish flaked in this Hash. This cost £10, that was £10 for a plateful of spuds, a tomato and an egg. The fish was very nearly nonexistent. Also there was no cheese on it whatsoever. Very disappointing

Really great breakfast, brunch and lunch cafe, the scrambled egg and healthy brunch (smoked salmon, avocado, chilli poached egg on sourdough) are my faves, well worth a try! Really friendly team too, and being a bit off the beaten track it's not super crowded, just a good atmosphere. There's parking on the road outside too so it's great for anyone headed into or out of Brighton by car

Excellent food, tasty and well cooked. We can highly recommend the Full English breakfast. Beautiful coffee, too. All prepared and served by attentive, friendly staff. A real delight!

This is my ew favourite brunch spot. We went recently and will return whenever we need that breakfast hit. It was delicious, we both had the veggie breakfast and were stuffed all day. I went for a birthday breakfast and it did not disappoint. Lisa who was serving everybody was fantastic, working so hard to get everyone satisfied. Thank you!

After a quick search on Tripadvisor for a brunch stop on our way home from a night away in Brighton, we popped into Joe’s Cafe & we found the perfect place! From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome by the 2 bubbly friendly ladies behind the counter. There’s a small courtyard at the back for nice sunny days. We chose to sit inside. Food & drinks arrived quickly & were piping hot & delicious. Really good coffee & the breakfasts were delicious. I ordered the big breakfast & my husband had the biggest breakfast (which he had trouble finishing!). Wish I’d ordered one of the breakfast hashes that the cafe is well known for as they looked incredible . Next time we are in Brighton we will definately be returning 😁

I ordered the bigger breakfast but the rather loud lady serving obviously misheard and i only got the big breakfast, which at best is really a small breakfast!! When the food was brought out I explained this to her but instead of offering to rectify the mistake she instead proceeded to loudly read out all the till receipts to compare them to what was on the table and making me feel as though it was my fault. Very poor customer service and poor value, i will not be returning!!

We had an incredible time at Joe’s cafe this last week. Julia and Andy opened their shop especially for our school group out of the Netherlands. They treated us so incredibly well and all of the food and drinks were delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful time both in terms of food quality and atmosphere. We can’t wait to come back next year!

Best place for breakfast! Morning sun shines right in, you can eat outside in front of the cafe, quiet street. Great food and service!

Good service, good breakfast options

Cute little cafe with a simple menu and relaxed vibes. Good for a variety of breakfast options. I ordered breakfast #1 which was sausage, bacon, beans, egg and toast and it was very tasty. I also ordered a decaf coffee with oatmilk which was nice. My partner ordered the veggie hash which was huge and also super yummy. We weren't served for a while but managed to order at the till in the end. It's good that there's a condiments box on each table so you don't need to ask for ketchup or brown sauce. Be aware of the more limited opening hours. Definitely worth a visit in you're in that locale. Enjoy.

Overrated. Had to ask where my breakfast was and it had evidently be forgotten. A vegan hash which was basically a plate full of lukewarm potatoes and a small pot of baked beans. Definitely not worth the money.

Kids liked the milk shakes that took forever to arrive along with my miniscule flat white in a tea cup! Nachos were nice but eaten long before drinks arrived. I observed a lot of food left of peoples plates un eaten.

My son persuaded me to leave behind my usual Hove breakfast haunts and to step forward into pastures new. So pleased I did. Super food, made of good fresh ingredients, and lovely friendly owners/staff. Already spreading the word. Deffo worth the extra schlep.

JOES CAFE 26/9/21 Well worth the ten minute drive from Brighton Quality breakfasts at a reasonable price bacon a little overcooked for me but will definitely go back if in Brighton. We were only in the area on the way to Brighton Foodies Festival and stumble upon Joe’s.

Recently moved to brighton and happened to stumble upon Joe’s. Great hearty breakfast that soaks up the alcohol on a hangover, but still feels nutritious. One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had and very fairly priced. Had an issue whereby I’d been overcharged the previous week (which is easily done), returned to the shop the week after and the staff resolved the issue promptly and provided a sincere apology. Great customer service and top marks all round.

Really nice at home vibe! Perfect portions and taste just like that home cooked cafe breakfast you want. Plus, playing some wicked playlist. No bloody typical ‘heart’ radio on and all that. Grooves all around 🤙

I say Brighton but I genuinely don't think I've had a a better breaky anywhere in the UK. Huge statement I know, but it was simply sensational. The portion was massive and the quality of the food was superb. I'm hungry just thinking about those...

Away from the crowds at the seafront Joe's is well worth a walk. Lovely food, excellent cortado and great service for me and the thirsty dog. I had the mashed avocado and roasted tomatoes and will definitely go back to explore more of the menu when I am in Brighton again.

Absolutely awesome place. Came for an overnight stay from Bromley and had googled this before hand. Please go and have food there it’s amazing! Huge plates of food, lovely locally sourced produce. Vegan options were superb. We are jealous of those yet to go! Lovely staff and really helpful directions to the beach ( we made it! ) absolutely no faults at all.
