The No Catch Co. in Brighton and Hove

It’s a good idea, and I enjoyed my meal, but it’s not really what I was looking for.. the chips were much more like pub chips than chip shop chips.. I’ve had chips from chip shops all over the UK, dozens and dozens of them, No Catch was the only one to serve this style of chips… which tbh I’m not into. What I want, and what I think most people want, from No Catch is the authentic fish and chip shop experience.. just without the suffering. They haven’t quite achieved this and tbh it makes me not want to go back as it just doesn’t hit that spot. I had the battered sausage with mine, pretty sure these are the Richmond no meat sausages, however I have no issue with that as they are very taste, shame they’re not the classic length but it can be forgiven. The sausage did hit the spot, would be curious to try the ‘fish’.. But please, revise your chips!

The smoked cod supper is just the job. Eaten on the beach in summer, or cozied up against the cold in winter.

The smoked no-fish and the classic are super good!!! Copious plate. It’s just a shame that you have to pay for the sauces (peas, mayo, tartare, etc.) and the atmosphere of the place is a little minimal! But in summer, the atmosphere must be different than on a Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. ;)

My favourite chips I've ever had! So crispy and salty and not too greasy or dry. I love the mushy peas and the fresh tasting tartare sauce. Have been so many times and never disappoints. Really hot too, so great for taking home/to the beach or getting as a delivery. And they have vegan dog treats too :) Friendly staff :)

Popped in 5 mins before closing so grabbed a takeaway - excellent service and great food with gluten free options - Dog friendly too

Chips were off the hook. Battered sausages were a really tasty treat and despite being battered and fried they didn't seem greasy. Lovely service. Great plaice for veggies who are looking for something different. Sorry about the pun there, I couldn't hold it in.

I've never been veggie/vegan but this is somehow the best sausage & chips i've ever had?? if you're in brighton you have to check em out! (also super accommodating/reassuring when it comes to allergies & intolerances which I really appreciated!)

As I was in Brighton, I thought it was only right to get some fish and chips, so when I saw the vegan version, I was very happy. There’s a very good menu and plenty of space if you’d like to eat there. Service is very friendly and helpful The food was excellent and I’ve tried vegan fish a few times, but this was definitely the best one I’ve had and I’ll be going back again for more in the future (I live in London and have other options nearby, but this is worth the journey)

OH MY GOD. I had visited hoping for good things and Holy eff they did not miss! Seriously. The quality or this food is out of this world. The battery was fresh and crisp and light. The chips were perfectly cooked, fluffy inside, crispy outside - almost like the perfect roast potatoes but in chip form. All items are vegan but people should not let that stop them visiting because seriously the quality is superb. We tried the vegan sausage smoked haddock and cod and they were all delicious. I was actually surprised how much the smocked haddock tasted different to the cod because I expected a similar taste but it was so smokey and sweet! My two year old absolutely loved it. I will visit Brighton literally just to eat from this place in future.

My second visit to this amazing restaurant and it won't be my last! Nothing is better than the seaside and fish & chips, and now this treat is available to vegans too. The haddock and chips is to die for and portions are large. Price of drinks are a little excessive especially the Irn Bru and Ginger Beer which is being sold for £2.45 for a 330ml can!

Visited here with a vegan sibling who'd been raving about it and it is pretty good! The chips are wonderfully crisp whilst still be large fish and chips style, and the homemade tartare sauce was insanely good, with the pickles standing out. The fish tasted more like scampi than fish to me and the portion a little small, but was overall tasty with great firm texture. We ate in to avoid the cold and the place is a little sterile looking with it's white lights, but what fish and chip store isn't. I've taken a couple bites of the image below, but I believe it was £11.99. I'd say that's deserved if the fish was just a little bigger.

Really happy with our meal at No Catch today, amazing food and service - better than our pre-vegan fish and chips days, no horrible greasy oily feeling after eating but no compromise on flavour and texture, the batter and chips were nice and crispy. Kevin who served us was really lovely and easy to talk to with great recommendations, fab customer service. Would definitely go back if visiting Brighton again.

I had heard about this place on instagram and when we visited Brighton just had to check it out. We had the tofu fish alternative with the nori seaweed skin with chips (obviously) . We also ordered the calamari and mushy peas. It was all lovely and the person serving behind the counter was very friendly. They made us feel welcome and we were entertained by their choice of music. A great visit.

I had the cod and chips and it was far more delicious than actual cod and chips. It had all the fresh, crispy, flakey deliciousness, with no bones and no sogginess. And best of all, no fish had to die.

My daughter and I were staying around the corner and were delighted when we found No catch. We both ordered the 'cod' and chips, my daughter got the kids portion. They were only doing takeaway as it was late but that was fine with us. The restaurant itself was lovely and clean, decorated nicely and staff was friendly and helpful. We brought the food home and my daughter wasn't a fan so only ate the chips. I ate mine but within 30 minutes I was sick and then was sick for most of the night. It must have been the tofu as we both ate the chips. Even the smell from the bag made me so much that in between being sick I had to find a bin out of our room to throw it away. I hate that this happened as I love supporting fully vegan restaurants but I really was so sick for most of the night and have woken up still not well or able to eat which isn't ideal as we're only here for 2 nights!

Travelled to Brighton just for this and it did not disappoint!

Had the vegan cod and chips - loved the cod (which I had with GF batter) and the crispy thick chips. No compromise in flavour or appearance! Great to still have delicious fish and chip by the sea. 😍

Important to note this place doesn’t cater for coeliacs. At least they were upfront but as I am coeliac and I had to leave and eat elsewhere how many stars can I give? 🤷‍♂️

Sssoooo chuffed to be in this fabtastic place again and have this orgasmically scrummie food once more. Its the ‘only’ place we eat when visiting Brighton…. A total MUST for conscientious eaters ….most highly recommended x

Absolutely delicious! Very convincing “fish”, delicious chunky chips and none of us were left with that gross greasy feelings fish & chips can sometimes give you. We all had the vegan cod and chips but there are plenty of options. A must visit for veggie and vegan fish and chip lovers!

Was actually amazed at this place, being newly vegetarian for around 20 days so far funnily enough the one thing I've been missing is prawns and fish which is weird because I was never even super into those foods. Decided to go with a couple of vegan friends to No Catch vegan fish and chips place yesterday evening. I have absolutely no idea what they use instead but was genuinely delicious and I could barely tell the difference.10/10 would eat again! The chips were by far some of the best chips I've had in Brighton too. All 100% Vegan

Outstanding flavour, the cod is amazing tofu wrapped in seaweed then battered is the best I've tasted on the seafront including the non-vegan spots here in Brighton Pier. I look forward to come here again for sure a spot for the summer day date. Wonderful environment and welcoming staff, for sure will recommend to the world a day in the life living in Brighton.

Phenomenal. We cycled in from Worthing specifically to try it, and it was amazing. Lovely looking place (plaice?), friendly staff and great food, which just so happens to be vegan.

The vegan fish was so good, and the mushy peas paired perfectly.

This is a MUST visit in Brighton. I came with my dog this time and the person at the counter saw us trying to take photos while we waited, and offered to take them for us 😊 the chips are very crispy and fluffy and I was very happy sitting by the west pier with my dog and chips from no catch.

Very accommodating for gluten-free (GF batter and items), just ask when ordering. Shared fryer though, so not suitable for ceoliac, but the mushy peas are excellent.

No catch vegan restaurant is great. The food is great and the service is great too. Even if you’re not a vegan you should try it. Love it so much

As an omnivore who eats fish semi-regularly (and has tried vegan fish and chips before in other places and found it forgettable), No Catch some of the nicest fish and chips I've had in a long time of ANY kind, despite having no fish in it! The chips were perfectly soft yet crunchy, the batter was crisp, the 'fish' flavour was delicious and it was texturally shockingly similar to fish (maybe slightly too slippy/flaky, but I would never in a million years guessed it was vegan without knowing). The texture of the vegan calamari was astoundingly realistic (less fresh seaside calamari and more rings on a buffet texture, but really really close to the real thing in consistency). The tartare sauce was spot on, mushy peas well seasoned, and they stock Irn Bru. Need I say more! I would wholeheartedly recommend No Catch to vegans and non-vegans alike.

Lovely place..no pun intended :) chips were crispy with a lovely fluffy inside that stayed tastey right to the end of the plate. The battered sauages were the best vegan vege I've had in 32years of being vegan. Batter was crispy not to thin the sausage was firm altogether a lovely sausage. Tartar sauce was a minty smooth addition to the meal.. Chilled out tunes playing the back ground rih by the beach.

I had the best meal I've had from a 'chippy'. Battered saveloy and chips. The chips were 'out of this world' delicious, as was the saveloy. Even my non vegan partner loved the chips. When my order arrived, it was brought to me where I was sitting. It's a shame I don't live nearer as I think I'd be visiting quite regularly 😋

La comida es deliciosa. He estado desesperado por pescado vegano, salchichas rebozadas y papas fritas, y esto me dio en el blanco. Era como si recordara pescado con patatas fritas. Mi única queja era que el servidor estaba claramente comiendo en el mostrador. Sin embargo, el servicio en sí fue rápido y cortés. El lugar está limpio y la comida estaba en el lugar... aunque un poco caro.

Wow - hands down the best tofish I’ve ever had. Chips are also chunky crispy deliciousness! Highly recommend & will be back when I next visit Brighton.

Really delicious and authentic take on 'fish' and chips. The texture of both the haddock and the cod bites was spot on, and the flavours accurate too. Golden crunchy chips and tartare sauce rounded out a really decent meal by the seaside. Friendly service in a car, well presented and uncluttered restaurant. I will be back

Wow. Vegan fish and chips that was incredible. I can't explain how good it was, you need to go and try for yourself.

As a meat eater, I came here with my vegetarian fiancé, so thought I might as well try the vegan battered sausages and chips, which comes with 3 sausages and a generous portion of chips. Let me tell you, it was honestly the best battered sausages I’ve had, it tastes just like meat sausages and the chips were amazing. I also tried my fiancés vegan smoked haddock and the taste and texture was brilliant. 10/10 would definitely recommend, the person servicing us was super friendly and helpful.

Finally managed to try No Catch, always so much choice in Brighton for vegans. I wasn't sure what to have but they recommended the smoked haddock and chips and the lemon shrimp so we had that plus the kids cod and chips to try another fish dish along with some mushy peas and wow it was so so amazing! The taste and the texture of it all was really really good and each so different, so much so we decided to try the calamari too. Guess what this was great too, and the chips too, will definitely be going back!
