Wonderful Steak restaurant, lovely atmosphere, very calm, with a gentle attentive team. My partner and I came for lunch, the steak was exceptional. Thank you!

First time in this restaurant for my friend and I. We were a little short of time, so we only had time to try the main course. We chose a T-bone sharing plate. The meat was beautifully cooked, tender and so tasty. My friend is American, so knows his steaks! He was happily gnawing the bone for the last morsels! The accompanying fries were perfectly cooked, nice and crispy, and the creamed spinach was excellent. A very pleasant bottle of Cotes du Rhone set the meal off perfectly. The restaurant was very busy, but service was very efficient and friendly.

After all the hype thought we would try here for lunch , after a 40 min wait for our basic steak and chips , sadly the steak wasn’t great , very chewy and gristly,plates not hot and poor service. The dogs were pleased with what we left !

I went there today with my mate from London and had the mid day special offer. This is my second visit to this restaurant. The steak was delicious. I am an avid steak eater and have eaten in many steak restaurants. The meat they use here is well sourced and because of that the flavour is spot on. The chef knows how to cook and the food was cooked to perfection. The staff were immaculately presented, polite, attentive and well educated. If you go here to eat I think you will be pleasantly surprised. All the best! From the guy who loves Picanha!

Wonderful place in the centre. We have ordered lamb chops and skinny fries, lamb was tasty and soft, while fries were hot and crispy

We found this lovely restaurant whilst exploring Brighton and liked the look of the menu. We were greeted at the door and sat at a table of our choosing. Demi our server was an absolute star from start to finish, a real professional. The food was delicious, we shared the croquettes and the hummus to start both full of flavour. We both had rib eye for main which were cooked to perfection! We may have over ordered on the fries, they were perfect but one portion between two would have been plenty. The creamed spinach was probably the best I've ever had! We ordered one of each of the sauces and weren't disappointed by any of them. Overall an exceptional dining experience, delicious food and super service. We will be back!

Wow! The roast beef dinner on Sundays is incredible. Every component was utterly delicious. The beef, the veg, the roast potatoes and gravy were incredible. The desserts were fabulous too.

I went here with my family for Sunday lunch and was really impressed. Location, decor and atmosphere were great. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was best of all. I shared the Sunday Roast while other members of my family had different cuts of steak and we tried a few of the sides and starters which were delicious. Highly recommend and will be back.

The food was absolutely beautiful. First time ever a steak has come back to me perfect medium well without it sending it back a chef certainly knows what he’s doing. The service was excellent next time I’m visiting down there. I most certainly will come back in.

Wonderfully tasty meal and great staff, we stopped for lunch here on a trip to Brighton, I had the Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms with feta, spicy puy lentils and sun blushed tomatoes.. SO TASTY! Just packed full of flavour I was so surprised how nice it was, it’s not the usual thing to order at a steak house but was very much worth it, My husband had the steak and that was cooked to perfection too (although he did keep stealing lentils and mushroom from my plate because it was so nice!) We ordered a side salad with walnuts and that was delicious, surprising how much flavour there is in even a salad! The whole meal was full of flavour, we recommend this place to anyone visiting and would definitely visit again ourselves. Try the mushroom!

Such a brilliant meal. The steaks and lamp chops and sides were superb. Not to mention the best molten cake. Service a little slow but would most definitely come back again and again

Pretty disappointing experience after very much looking forward to our meal here. The team were very inattentive, not returning to the table after food was served to check if we needed anything or new drinks. We could also see multiple members of the team eating behind the bar at various times and generally not behaving in a way suitable for an open kitchen/bar. I also made them aware that we were booking for a special occasion and this was totally ignored. Food was okay, nothing special and definitely not warranting the price. Steak saved the day and was well cooked but not worth the hype and expensive for what was served. The sides were very underwhelming. Mac and cheese was particularly bad… floury and flavorless. Everything was lukewarm. Decor great, Prosecco was delicious but wouldn’t rush back in a hurry!

Definitely looks a lot better than it is. Service was not great; the manager needs to take the staff to a good restaurant to show them what good service is really meant to be like. Don’t start clearing a table whilst someone is still eating. Shame the plates were cold, so the steak which was good not amazing was cold and the garlic butter didn’t melt so wasn’t pleasant. Also a real disappointment to only have olives as a gluten free option for starters. The focaccia and croquettes were good and the pigs and blankets were good too. Won’t be back as there are so many restaurants with so much better service and food. Really wanted to enjoy this restaurant as it was for a birthday celebration.

Went for a family Birthday and we had the sharing roast platters which were outstanding the steak was delicious and everything cooked beautifully Staff and lovely and the atmosphere so relaxed and cosy highly recommend

Relaxed, friendly but efficient service. Food was lovely and it was reasonably priced.. they’ve got the balance just right.

I booked here for my birthday meal on New Year’s Day after hearing great things, however I was left pretty disappointed. The staff were very inattentive. Got sat down and we weren’t offered any drinks for about 25 mins then someone finally came with some water. We then had to wait another 20 mins to place our actual drinks & food order. The food was pleasant but the steaks were a little cold and our Ribeye was over cooked. The Mango Daiquiri wasn’t made too well, it was so strong I had to dilute it with water to make it taste better. All the staff looked miserable and unfriendly. No one bothered to check up on us through the entirety of the meal or see if we needed any more drinks. We then got handed the dessert menu and again no one came over to see if we wanted anything for about 20 mins so we decided to not bother. The staff were quick to take the payment though, but didn’t bother to get our coats- we had to do that ourselves whilst they all chatted amongst each other at the bar. Overall I probably wouldn’t come back as I’m disappointed with the service and it made my birthday feel pretty un special.

I liked this restaurant for the delicious food they served. Loved the meat selection and the lamb was amazing. I booked it as a birthday gift for my partner and mentioned it on the booking, but they didn't really say anything when we came in or during dinner. I didn't expect dance and a song lol but usually restaurants do something nice like a card or just a personal happy birthday from the staff member when you come in or leave. I donno, just felt a bit meh about that

The best steak I have ever had in a restaurant. Knew what medium well actually was. We had two starters, a sirloin and rib eye with three sides, more than enough food. Pudding big enough to share. Great simple and tasty menu, service was excellent and the atmosphere was super chilled. Highly recommend and defo going back. Thank you Kindling Team ❤️

Brilliant food, entertaining evening with great service

Despite this place seeming a bit expensive my friend and I decided to try it out as it looked cute. For a place where your main (steak/lamb/burger) doesn’t come with anything (I.e. you need to pay extra for a side and any sauce) you’d expect the food to be on point. Both my steak and the lamb chops my friend ordered came to the table lukewarm/cold and when we mentioned this to the waitress we were told it was because the steak was rare and had been left to rest after cooking. We were then left at the table (with no desert menu offered up) until we managed to get a waiters attention for the bill (this took a while). The restaurant wasn’t busy at all when we were there so that can’t be used as an excuse for poor service. For the same amount of money we could have had more food of better quality elsewhere (for example, at le relais de venise in London we would have got a starter salad and 2 servings of steak frites at roughly the same price our meal and booze cost. If you go for a rare steak there it also comes to the table warm. The service there is also impeccable - I went before Christmas on a particularly busy night and the servers were friendly and attentive) The positives of this place are that the cocktails were nice and it’s got a cute aesthetic overall but it seems to be style/aesthetics over everything else.

Honestly bad service which left a bad taste. Food came out cold and when we mentioned it to staff ( not asking for it to take back or anything) got a flippant response then we were ignored by staff. Staff seemed to go out of there way to not look towards our table to the point it took ages to then get the check. Had to literally awkwardly call out to a staff passing by. Gratuity was already added to the bill when we really didn't want to pay it but just wanted to leave. Was very disappointed as the place looks pretty, the food well seasoned (though cold ) and the cocktails good.

Outstanding food. Attentive and quick service. Beautiful restaurant. Best restaurant I've been to in the UK so far. Prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality. Overall excellent experience 👌🏽🤌🏾

Finally had a chance to try Kindling. Maybe we had a bad night but the service was really disappointing. Waited 10mins before even being acknowledged at our table. Would have ordered more drinks and dessert but decided to leave after mains. Food was great but the service let the whole experience down. Not rushing back 😔

Beautiful little restaurant. The sides are as good as the steak here. Cocktails were really nice. Friendly atmosphere and fairly priced. I would definitely recommend and come again.

Warning, this is not Kindling the Michelin star gluten free tasting menu restaurant, the new owners have inherited the name only and it's a very different restaurant with covers maximised and turnaround prioritised. Unfortunately even the steak (which forms the majority of the menu) was overcooked and the sides were really poor. So dissapointing.

Came here on a Sunday after hearing great things about the Roast and it surpassed all expectations, all of the starters were delicious and the roast was the best I’ve had, great portion sizes too. We couldn’t choose between the desserts so ordered them all and they were definitely worth it. Cocktails were delicious too, highly recommend the mango daiquiri. Will be returning and look forward to trying their other dishes

We came across Kindling whilst looking for a bite to eat before seeing Rhod Gilbert at the Brighton Dome Concert Hall. It was busy when we arrived. We chose to sit at the bar and have a drink whilst we waited for table which was around 15 minutes. The food was really good and well priced. It came within a decent time and the time between courses was good. The rose wine was excellent. The best bit though was being served by Charlotte. She was engaging and charming. She smiled and was attentive. A true asset. I would employ her if I had a cool restaurant. Highly recommend.

Easily the best steak I’ve had out, cooked to perfection. Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. You HAVE TO try this. It’s over an hour away from wine but I will definitely be travelling back.

Beautiful setting in the heart of Brighton with a nicely curated menu. The steak was delicious, potentially a tad overcooked, however good flavour. The accompanying chimichurri sauce was a brilliant addition to it. They serve roast dinner on Sunday and Monday, which looks absolutely delicious. All in all, it was a great experience and perfect place for an intimate dinner. The price of dishes is also not exorbitant, which makes it quite appealing. Will love to go back soon to try different cuts of beef.

Delicious meat meal. The waiters lack sympathy and friendliness. The main meal service was long. The atmosphere and decoration are perfectly adequate and pleasant.

Great experience here. Had to wait for a table we booked as it was Saturday night and they were slammed (not a problem) even had drinks given to us on the house for the wait!! Food was amazing and the service was prompt and polite. Would come back. Great staff all round

Won’t risk booking a restaurant I haven’t been to before for a very special occasion again. Read the lower score reviews, they’re spot on. Some lovely staff make up for coldness of the person at front of house who took us to our table. Weird system where very few staff can take food orders. It was a mess, very slow service, and no one knew what others were doing. Overpriced, ordinary food and v limited choice. Don’t bother. (We had a good time but that was down to us, and one lovely waiter. )

We had a beautiful meal with great service in a lovely setting. The cooking of the steak was spot on and the sides were amazing. The best sweet potato fries we have ever had and the flavours on the salad were incredible. A great treat for our stay in Brighton.

It’s another review that makes me worried I won’t get a booking..! Every single thing was perfect. We came for the lunch offer and it does not disappoint. For £15 you are brought the pinkest juicy steak& rosemary salted crispy fresh fries. We added the humours starter which was a taste sensation with perfect crispy light and fluffy focaccia. A* loved it!

This was a common occurrence all night people having to wait for tables. We finally sat down and had to ask the waitress if we can order our drinks and food, after waiting another 15 minutes. Our starter didn't arrive for another 10 minutes because the waitress 'forgot'. Our mains came and they were very average, tiny portions and lukewarm. Again, we had to ask for our plates to be taken away. Not once were we asked how the food was or attended to our whole meal. Love it! The food was amazing and it is one of the prettiest restaurant I’ve ever seen. The prices are completely fine and fair.

Steaks very good, which is what they are about. Forgot to bring our pre meal olives so service could be better.

Lovely atmosphere , dimly lit. The server was very approachable and helpful when navigating through the menu I chose the bavette steak and fries deal (£14) whereas my partner chose the rump steak with sweet potato fries The sauces were delicious , we chose the garlic butter and blue cheese sauce The blue cheese sauce had pieces of cheese mixed in The garlic butter was flavourful but quite overpowering at times All in all the prices are affordable for the area Would go again :)

Really good food i was sitting at the bar the watching the chefs cook and i saw everething it all looked good amazing I'm not a fan of maccaroni cheese but it looked amazing I would eat everything here even things I don't usaly like . The staff are super friendly. Nice music at a good volume in the background .The only bad thing is that there's nothing wrong whit it .super good if I could I would rate it 1000000000 I would . 😀😀😀
