Scottish hospitality at its best! Great place to stay, staff are fantastic and welcoming. Food at dinner and breakfast was great, and had a good night’s sleep in a comfy, clean room! Super dog friendly too.

The Village Inn, Newton 4 of us went there last night, the food and service was AMAZING!! Baguettes were on an offer 2 for £18 and they even had a separate gluten free menu with lots of choice! Will definitely be back ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Table booked for 8 people at lunchtime. There were NO other customers. Table wasn't ready upon arrival. Staff were largely unwelcoming and disinterested. 45 minute wait for food. Sirloin steak ordered was cooked perfectly for 'medium' but so, so tough and 'ropey' it was all but inedible. Chips - just about warm. Onion rings - undercooked. Rocket - dry & limp. And tough if you wanted English mustard because they didn't have any! Surely in a fiercely competitive market you need to try much, much harder than this to survive?

A group of 23 of us arranged to stop here for a meal after a work day out. Every single person commented on how good the food was!! Friendly helpful staff and very good beer!! We will return in the near future Thank you

Delicious Devonshire cream team, scone slightly warm. So good. Rest of family had speciality tea, thick strawberry milkshake made with Cornish ice cream and a couple of decaf coffees. Setting was lovely. Very oldy worldy and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend

Very slow food service for sandwiches. Very dry & tasteless Club sandwich, not worth waiting for. Waitress lovely & knowledgeable. Shame as it's a lovely venue. Food & slow service let it down.

Arrived with a friend for lunch we both live local to the pub and there were 3 or 4 other tables with guest, the place was quiet and deserted with no atmosphere. We ordered wine and was served straight away, then ordered food which took 50 mins to arrive, goodness knows why as it was not busy? and there were plenty of staff . I ordered small fish & chips that was average and not very hot and my friend had cheese & onion pie, again average. They couldn’t give us a desert menu because they didn’t have any, so the server told us what was on offer. How dose this establishment hope to do well if they can’t get the basics right. We won’t bother going again there are far better places to eat in the area.

First time here...just lovely...Great food and lovely staff

Popped in for a snack lunch. Lovely selection of ciabattas available but landlady happy to accommodate the simpler tastes of two of our group and willingly provided cheese and ham baguettes. Good beer well kept (Harveys), tasty food that was nicely presented and value for money. Will visit again.

No nos sirvieron comida porque dijeron “mucha gente quería comida” y el restaurante estaba lejos de estar lleno, y ni siquiera nos servían bebidas calientes. . el restaurante ni siquiera estaba ocupado y no querían servirnos. todo lo que quería era algo de comer, pero no entendí eso.

Very friendly staff and a nice pint

I went to Toby carvery today it was my first time coming to Toby carvery. It was really nice and helpful and the food was very tasty and nice and fresh the meat was very nice and the veg was good too I like to say a big thank you to Anthony he was lovely and he help my dad out to the table. It was so nice hey mate fresh pot of cauliflower cheese, without no cheese for my mum I will definitely come back to this toby carvery

Bought the winter warmer package and boy was it good value for money! The tour was very informative, the wines were lovely. Due to it being the dormant season the vines had no grapes to see. But it is freezing January so to be expected. 2 of the wines we tried had sold out, which was a shame but totally shows the popularity. I’ll have to go back in April at harvest season All the staff were so welcoming and tentative. We had steak and it was gorgeous with fat yummy chips. Def coming back. For £87.50 each we had wine tasting, evening meal (£25 pp allocation), overnight stay (the apartments are modern and stylish) and full on breakfast in the morning. The views are to die for and the venue itself is really chic. Looking forward to a return visit.

Very expensive little choice even for a chip shop

Amazing service, we were a large party of 14, food was hot and served all the same time! Prices amazing also! Such an amazing family friendly pub! Will most definitely be returning soon
