Toby Carvery Park Place in Merton

Was lovely a meal very friendly especially as we are disabled. They helped me and my husband made sure we were all. Very greatful for there service considering it was our first time. It was so good went back for there breakfast on Tuesday for the first time also.

Love this place staff are lovely food great Had just got back from Egypt so was in need of a big fat roast. Love the beef and lamb here

Staff are so nice There are very nice playground for children by the cannons leisure centre. We went there first then had dinner at Toby carvery. The staff are really really helpful with my daughters allergies and were so nice. We had a lovely time. The place has been recently done up again

We hired the bar at the Toby for a family funeral. It was perfect for our needs as could accommodate over 100 guests, we were also able to use a room at the front of the restaurant as well as we had so many guests. The buffet was very good, fresh and varied, many of guests commented on how lovely it was. Included in the price was tea and coffee. The service from all the staff was excellent and Jack the manager kept checking everything was ok for us. It was excellent value for money and the bar prices were not over inflated, we could also have the venue for the entire afternoon and evening and the bar was well staffed. I would highly recommend this as a venue for a wake. If I having a party type event I possibly would have put some flowers, basket of toiletries and nice hand towels in the ladies toilets to make it more luxurious. Lots of parking available, need to put car registration in to avoid a ticket. Fortunately we own a tv on a stand that we took to show photographs. I would like to thank Jack and all his staff for making a very sad day go as smoothly as possible.

Good food in a friendly setting. Home from home we love it. The staff take time and trouble to ensure we have all we need and the selection of food is excellent.

Lovely setting in grounds, attentative staff, and nice decor. Carvery was well laid out and a good selection, generous portions. No rush to eat or leave afterwards.

Have been a number of times it is getting worse when asked for lamb where told it wasn’t served till 4pm this was Sunday lunch time the meat was dry and veg was clearly old we where still charged Sunday prices staff stand around chatting with one lady who had come back to help running around

We came in on a Sunday no booking so wasn’t expecting quick service or any tables but thought we take our chances. The door manager was polite an was dealing with a lot of rude guest so made us believe it was a very difficult day for the staff. We was told that the bar area is available for food so we went for it. Now only one member of staff stuck out for us an unfortunately didn’t grab her name she was the only one working the bar an was blonde. She mentioned that it was a busy day an looked abut overwhelmed. She really made sure that we had everything even when dealing with the bar anthe tables. Credit to her an the team

Very little meat and no Yorkshire pudding …very small amounts of vegetables my partner bought the extra portion for £5 and it was the same size as my regular one …very disappointed and will not go to this one again ..this was a delivery service !!!!

We went for breakfast on Sunday 1st October, arrived there approx 10.00am. When we got there the only food available was bacon (which I do not eat) and eggs which had been there for quite sometime as they were 'hard' , there was no bread to make toast. There was no vegetarian option openly available. I did ask and received 2 vegetarian sausages. The chef on duty that day was rude and had attitude when I asked him if there was any bread to make toast, he stormed into the kitchen and stormed back out again with 2 loaves of bread. When we asked if there was any more food, the chef was very rude. Food came out but in dribs and drabs, and majority of it was taken by a couple who came equipped with their 'tupperware' and took the whole lot and left nothing for the other customers. Basically all I had to eat was 2 eggs, 2 vegetarian sausages and two slices of toast, my husband had the same but normal sausages which we ended up paying £17.99 for.

The roast we had was great and value for money, plenty of variety and it tasted good but sadly that’s as far as it goes. They really need to improve on customer service, I felt we were almost left to fend for ourselves. The waitress seemed to ignore our table. We had to ask for glasses for our drinks, we had to ask for our desserts while the staff were chatting amongst themselves at the till. I’ll go back to Toby Carvery but probably not this one.

Got left standing at the desk for 20min we had a booked table for 3 people ( two adults one child ) but staff just ignored that we were there. Them having conversation between them self's was more important than seating customers. This was so disappointing I loved to go to this toby but since the last owner retired this place has gone down hill no customer service at all.

Visited on Sunday 2nd July pre made a reservation on line and made the effort to visit the restaurant on Sunday morning and was assured everything was in hand.On arrival no space in the restaurant but a table available in the bar area which we ok with.We then waited about 20 mins in line to choose our food and then we’re told ALL MEAT UNAVAILABLE and would Take 45 mins for more meat to be ready.Not one type of meat was available This was a true meatless carvery. This was family gathering for a birthday party.A true disappointment.Luckily we could find somewhere else who could accommodate us at such a late.Will not be visiting again.my advice Avoid…

Toby carvery in Worcester Park - the worst experience myself and the family have had. We were 8 minutes late for our table booking due to an accident on the A3 we were coming from Vauxhall so a long distance. The staff were so rude on arrival being told that we are so late so we cannot sit in the restaurant we had a 1 year old baby with us and told we can eat at the pub bar. We had come from so far we did but then the bar staff were not helpful at all complaining about a 50% voucher we had off the mains then the drinks were warm and they moaned huffed and puffed when asked for ice. And when we walked past the manager and two staff members we heard them talking about us having the voucher and saying don’t give us table service make sure they go to the bar to order. From that we paid for our drinks and walked out, we were not going to eat here. We will never visit this place again it’s a disgrace and unwelcoming.

I was given a seat in the bar area & had to pay in advance at the bar then go and queue up for about 20 minutes. I then had to walk with my plate of food through the restaurant and down steps to the bar, got funny looks from other people queuing up, felt very uneasy about the whole thing. Half the tables in the restaurant are not being used due to social distancing but people queuing up were almost on top of each other. The staff seemed very over-worked and not very friendly. The portions of meat were a lot less than previous visits, tiny slithers of meat but a lot of veg & you cant serve your self at the moment. Park Place is now looking old and tired and not a very comfortable place to eat and socialise, it needs updating and it needs staff who care about customers and the quality of the food they serve.

We went to Toby Carvery on Wednesday 2nd September at 5.10.8 of us booked . We arrived on time to be greeted by a queue where no one was social distancing. As 2 of our party were already seated we were told to just make our way in and directed where to go, not shown. I tried to use the hand sanitiser before entering restaurant (not asked to) and it was empty. I told the girl on reception. It was still empty when we left.Once seated in an out of the way area we found that throughout our meal we were virtually ignored and had to repeatedly get up and go and look for a member of staff, in the end we refilled our drinks ourselves (not supposed to). We had to ask for cutlery and another member of staff grabbed them from a drawer and dumped them on our table, she wore no gloves and they were not covered.As for getting our food it was like school dinners, it was a long queue and the staff/servers were rushing therefore our dinners were dolloped on the plate in big heaps on top of each other. I will say the food was delicious. The hand sanitiser at the food station was also EMPTY!!The floor was dirty with food on it and the toilets were not good either AND no masks worn by anyone at anytime.The whole experience shows that Toby Carvery are concerned about being open and money rather than the hygiene and safety of the customers.

My boyfriend took me out for our anniversary meal . We booked on line and the only booking time available was 7.45pm. We arrived early because we drove from Fulham . We were greeted abruptly to be told the bar and carvery close promptly at 8pm. I had to ask to log my car registration which thankfully I did otherwise we would have had £50 fine . We would have never driven from Fulham if we knew that the premises close at 8pm . we felt very rushed . We grabbed a quick drink in the bar which we rushed into the restaurant as we felt we needed to Rush to the table . We were not shown a table as the waitress was not at the desk to seat guests . I had to go and ask for a table at the waters station in the restaurant which took about ten mins . We were seated in the middle of the restaurant by a large Family with a baby and children . I asked the waitress if we could be moved to a table in the window which was quieter and much more romantic and I was told no the table had been allocated to another party . This party never showed up by this time it was quarter to eight . I went up to the carvery first my partner ordered more drinks ( a Pepsi max and a Lime has and soda ) . My drink never came but was on the bill .The turkey was cold but tasty . The vegetables were tasteless and not seasoned . My boyfriend Had the beef which was good but cold he also thought the veg was disappointing. The restaurant was very hot and noisy and the service was diabolical . We asked for the bill as we felt the staff wanted to go home . My drink was on the bill but didn’t come . We told the waitress who brought the bill and she said she would have to consult her colleague . She was rude and unhelpful . Finally after a long wait the issue was resolved but the attitude of the staff wasn’t professional ! We will not return to this restaurant it was not a pleasant experience and let down the Toby carvery brand .

Food and service as always wonderful, children both enjoy a roast and the selection of vegetables on offer, and wolf down their chocolate fudge cake with gusto

I love this Toby. Staff are always friendly and helpful. We visited early afternoon. The beef was delicious. The roast potatoes were gorgeous. The whole meal was yummy. I have yet to find a Toby as nice as this one.

We booked got table straight away. Service very slow but was busy we have had better. Food hot I got the large plate for extra meat the amount you get has been cut down and very thin best bit was roast potatoes. Waited 15 mins to order puddings asked for extra custard and was told 50p extra should have not bothered as crumble was half the size as before and was just put on top as last minute. This has started to not be value for money.

We enjoyed lunch here, the sea bass was very tasty as was the mini dessert .. very sensible. Thank you to Danielle D who was very helpful.

Visited Saturday evening, 25 January 2020, Have visited a few times in the past; but on this occasion was very disappointed with the food. The size of the meals appear to have been reduced, was served cold and very little flavor. Not many customers in the restaurant area, which should have been a tell tale sign for a Saturday evening. There appears to be a change in the management, which may have something to do with the decline in standards

Cheap food which tastes cheap. Limited choice, probably ok if roast is your thing. Staff friendly and attentive. Rather noisy.

The service was good that serve by the chef. I like the special offer price that you can eat unlimited vegetable and gravy. The atmosphere feel like countryside bed and breakfast hotel. Limited parking space on the busy day. I will go back back again for this offer price.

I went with friends for lunch. Make sure you leave your Car Reg Number at the entrance as judging by comments it will cost you. The first thing that hits you is the heat inside - it's so hot so don't wrap up - shirtsleeves is ample. Comfortable surroundings but on this day it was packed. Every table was booked and as one was emptied it was quickly filled and they were doing a roaring trade. There were also some big groups in, 10+. Having said that you had to queue ages for the carvery - we took nearly just over 18 minutes due to the fact it was so busy. Staff were working absolutely flat out but due credit to them they still managed a smile. Food I thought was excellent, roast dinner good although perhaps a little more meat would be nice. Veg and potatoes plentiful and gravy was hot. Drinks also good. Well done to the staff on an exceptionally busy lunchtime.

Okay so the food was really good but one thing that put me off was the flies which are everywhere. They were landed on the food on the hot plates, they were flying all around the tables, not one or 2 but loads. It was very annoying swatting flies whilst trying to enjoy the food (which flies had landed on). There is no fly catching machines anywhere and it seemed very normal.

This is probably the worst meal I have ever experienced in a restaurant, My first choice of vegetarian option was 'unavailable', so I chose the vegetarian chile. When it arrived it was just defrosted and stone cold so I had to ask for it to be microwaved some more.I went for some vegetables to go with it, Roast potatoes which turned out to be like leather, hard peas with no flavour and also flavourless carrots.There were no dauphinoise potatoes which at least may have been tasty The rest of the vegetables looked decidedly unappealing. The rice that they put with the chile was inedible, hard and dry and the chile it's self did not taste good. I left most of it! A microwave meal at its worst! Basically I could not eat this awful 'food'. After waiting a very long time for the table to be cleared and an order taken, eventually I chose a dessert and asked for it to be served with cream, it came with ice ream, so I had to ask for this to be changed.Service was very poor.

This is a review I thought I would never write about Park Place. My family have been visiting here since it opened, we have loved this place for it's value for money, food and customer service. My children ask to come here over many other places like Macdonalds.

We were advised that this was a good carvery with several meat option beef, pork, lamb& turkey. Vegetarian option also available. Always telephone to secure a table as the restaurant is extremely busy. Family friendly. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would recommend it. Parking available on site on a first come first serve basis.

I loved it I had to go twice. Yes Sunday and Monday. Love the atmosphere cozy, warm and although it was a little cramp it was good. The food could have been a little warmer though.

Firstly I would like to say I’ve coming here for years and it has been very good.

The food was excellent as ever. It was very busy and noisy with a million children but that's fine, I understand it's brilliant for children and they get to eat real food, but it would be nice to have a quieter section. The staff were busy so took ages to arrive to seat us, they only got half our drinks and it took ages to pay but this was because they were busy. Price has really increased too.

I always find carvery a bit boring and overrated, i enjoy this place as its always relaxed even at busy periods, meat is always cooked well and plenty of veg to choose from. Staff are always friendly, I don't visit too often but when I do it's always an enjoyable visit.

We probably go once every 2 months or when they have offers. Easy option, nice carvery and vegetables with parking onsite. Not haute cuisine but nice staff and service!

Toby Carvery in Mitcham has a very friendly atmosphere the staff are all very pleasant, I’ve used this restaurant many times in the last 4 years, was run by a husband and wife team with their son as head chef, now the son has taken over the reins with the same friendly greetings and quality of food, with 4 meats and a large selection of veg you don’t go hungry, love this place and I’ll be using it regularly whilst I’m in Mitcham

I do love this place. The portions are so generous and you can almost literally fill your boots. The staff are helpful and friendly too, the place is always full to capacity and that's a sign of good service and good rustic food. Now they've started offering gluten-free gravy I don't have to bring my own.

Decided to have an impromptu breakfast with my son. On arrival was welcomed with a smile and a cheery hello from the waitress and manager.

The staff here couldnt have been more friendly or do e more for us. The food was nice and we enjoyed the meal but could have been given a bit more live when cooking g it.

I have used this carvery before, a long while back, and was looking forward to my return. However, gone are the Real Ales in the bar, gone is the busy but organised service and the carvery in my eyes is barely average. Sat for ages to order drinks and receive them, also a long wait for the bill. Maybe we picked a bad night, but a carvery needs to busy to be successful. I genuinely believe this establishment is trading on its reputation, if so, I'm not sure what the future holds. We will not return, even at the reasonable prices.

This was my first visit to this Toby Carvey. Plenty of free parking. For the second time in a week, I was greeted, at a Toby, with "you alright?" Then I was told they only had pork and beef left, even though it was only 7PM. The reason given was an oven was down. To my pleasant surprise, when I got to the carvery station, turkey was also available. 3 out of 4 was ok for me, because I was in the mood for turkey and beef. The display of the sides looked like they have had heavy use. The mash potatoes seemed a bit dry. Although the staff seemed tired, my server was fairly quick and efficient. The layout of the dining room doesn't feel intimate. I suspect the building was converted from a previous use, into a Toby. Overall, an average Toby experience.
