This was a gift for my husband’s birthday. The guy who did the “tour “ was really knowledgeable & passionate about how the vineyard started - what they grow , what they’ve tried ,how it’s grown , picked & bottled etc . He kept it really interesting & was funny along the way . The nice weather allowed us to stay in the seated area in the vineyard then we sampled the 3 wines in the winery. We didn’t see the fruit on the vines but his explanation was good enough and the wine was nice . We had pre-booked a table for after the tour . The food was delicious , served promptly & the staff were very polite and friendly. We also enjoyed a bottled of the rosé with our meal.

I have no idea what this outfit is up to. I was given a gift voucher for my birthday and have failed to book as instructed . They haven't answered the several emails nor the phone. The answer phone message tells me that reception opens at 9 and not to leave messages. Their message box is now full so I'm clearly not the only person frustrated by this indifference to customers. I was quite keen to see how wine was produced in this part of yorkshire, but looks like I'll get a refund instead, assuming I can even do that. Steer clear

A vineyard in Yorkshire? yes! And we enjoyed our visit. Reviewing is tricky, because the visit itself was 4*, the apartment more 3*. They’ve only been going 5 years and need 7 to test the vines. The vineyard is small & rustic, and ‘local’ if you live in the NW. That’s impressive in itself. The guide was very informative and engaging. They have concentrated on weddings in recent years out of necessity - every business needs an income stream to survive. The apartments reflected that, great I’m sure for hens and brides but in need of an upgrade. The staff are lovely and the food good. And it’s in the NW! I really hope they transition from wedding venue to vineyard in its own right. And we had a really good time, thank you.

Lovely afternoon tea with friends. Service let it down though. Not very attentive. We had all eaten the savouries and still waiting for tea/coffee. No refills either. There was also no soft drink option included in the price. On the plus side one of our party was vegan which was very good.

Came for the overnight stay, with tour, dinner and breakfast, the tour is really a talk outside on the history of the vineyard then into where they make and bottle the wine, but very interesting and all very informative. The accomodation although comfortable, is looking a little tired and ready for a good do up. Dinner was ok, but not outstanding. Having said that, the staff were all lovely and helpful,

Afternoon tea following a tour. Nigel is a character and a proper font of Knowledge regarding wine and a proper entertainer. The whole vinyard is a wonder and the wine sublime. Afternoon tea was plentiful and not too overpowering. A lovely day overall and well worth the visit. Just watch out for the hairpin bend from Holmfirth. It's a beauty. Fancy the Sunday lunch next time.. Back soon.

Booked onto the tour with afternoon tea. The tour was very interesting and our guide made it interesting and amusing. He also took time out after the tour to start up the bottling machine so I could see how it worked (yes I'm sad!) The afternoon tea was lovely with plenty to eat along with a glass of prosecco. We were fortunate that it was a beautiful day so could sit, eat, drink and enjoy the marvellous views.

Vineyard tour & wine tasting followed by evening meal and overnight stay. Informative vineyard tour with Alex our tour guide who was very witty & made us laugh. Wines were delicate and young. Lovely place to sit outside on a sunny day (we were very lucky with the sun) to drink the wine and enjoy life. Evening meal was good, we had risotto & swordfish. Stayed in one of the studio’s (Ortega) which was one bed in a loft style area (one side of the bed is under the slope so not able to stand up) with a bathroom and down stairs was a kitchen, lounge & cloakroom. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bought the white & red wine to drink at home, not able to buy the rose to take away. Lovely overnight stay.

By any standard this an excellent and remarkable venue perched above its own vineyard. My wife and I were treated to Dinner, Bed and Breakfast here including a talk and tasting. It was a lovely experience and one which could heartily recommend. Unfortunately we were unable to hear the talk as it involved a scramble down a steep hillside so we missed the tour as well. We are too old to scramble down hillsides!! However we did partake of a generous tasting. The wine, considering the grapes are grown so far north was excellent and we had a couple of bottles with our dinner. The food in the restaurant was outstanding and the service was perfect. Our accommodation was equally impressive - a modern suite with full self catering facilities and very comfortable beds with en-suite. Breakfast was equally good. The accommodation is down a steep hill from the restaurant but the owners have thoughtfully provided a private taxi service at a cost per journey of £2. A fabulous, memorable experience.

Afterwards we stayed in the accommodation which is just down the hill from the vineyard. The hill is quite steep so not for the faint hearted however there is a taxi that will take you between the 2 for a small fee. We had an evening meal and breakfast the next day. Both were really good. The views are amazing from the restuarant and luckily when we went the weather was lovely. We stayed in one of the larger apartments and found it more than adequate. Not an easy place to get to - narrow, twisty, steep road - but oh, the views when you arrive. Truly spectacular. It's a shame the same can't be said for the food, which was average at best. Our 'waiter' (we guessed one of the family) had obviously been outdoors most of the day, so took our order in muddy boots, dirty trousers and a grubby fleece - not a good start. The food was OK, red-hot plates but not very hot meals! and we had a 40 minute wait from ordering dessert until it actually arrived. It's a shame - with a bit more attention to detail this could be a really good place to eat.

A truly beautiful venue with incredible views and pleasant service. My issue is with the food. The vegetarian option I had was bland (a veggie curry on a menu is usually a sign of uninventive menu) and on asking what the gluten options were available for my friend with coeliac’s disease, the response was an earnest “I’ll ask the chef what he can do”. The only vaguely appealing item was something on the regular menu with the bread/flatbread removed. Again, it was very ordinary. Desserts next...some nice sounding dishes...and our orders placed only to have the waitress return and say they “didn’t have any left”... that has happened before to me and my previous guest.I can’t comment upon the meat-containing dishes...I’m told a competent cook can’t easily go wrong with a piece of animal, but the lack of dedicated gluten-free menu and a tasty, albeit single veggie option, in 2020 is disappointing.

My friends and I were looking forward to this, sadly we were disappointed. The location of the vineyard is secluded but beautiful, the views were amazing and the place was clean and modern. The car park isn't big enough to hold these events. Therefore, there were problems from the start. Our reservation hadn't been noted, I showed my confirmation email and then we were shown to our table. They had catered for 52, 55 had booked. They sorted this by asking for volunteers to share the wreath making materials in return for refunds, kindly 2 ladies agreed. We paid £45 per person and received bags of materials which were poor and minimal. The foliage ran out and a member of staff had to go outside to get some from trees. The xmas music came on 1/2 an hour before it finished. The turkey sandwiches were like warm with cheap bread cakes and a small cup of tea. The mulled wine was ok and the minced pies were Lidls ow with the foil removed. The vineyard made a massive profit at this event and in my opinion it was a desperate money making event and it was clear they certainly weren't putting their customers first. I was considering holding my 40th birthday here, even knowing of the limited parking as taxis could be arranged, however, I have definitely decided against this and will not recommend the vineyard in the future. So sad, as it is a beautiful place. The management, staff and general organisation needs improvement before this little gem is no longer.

Went here with my niece in july, the first thing we noticed was the view absolutely breathtaking! We went on the vineyard tour which we found very interesting i even bought a bottle of the rose wine they make its so easy to drink very tasty. We then had an afternoon tea all the food was fantastic i had coffee she had tea, the only thing i will say disappointed me was the glass of prosecco the glass was very large and we were very impressed till we tasted it, they had mixed it with lemonade which wasn’t for us, however didn’t spoil the meal and i would recommend this place to anyone, i would also like to return for the breakfast some time.

The vineyard tour was really informative, especially for us novices! Their wines were very nice and I have purchased some as gifts.

Really enjoyed the visit. We did learn things we never knew about wine making and the guide made it really entertaining. The venue has lovely views that are visable when enjoying the afternoon tea which was really good. A great way to have an afternoon tea in lovely surroundings and doing something a little different.

Really nice place. Fantastic views from the conservatory side. Lovely food, slow service but nice and pleasant. We had a very good plougmans lunch, fresh produce and tasty pork pie and a portion of chunky chips. Came to around £24. Nice little shop where you can buy their wine, home made fudge and a selection of sweets jams etc.

i have to say that this review covers a nights stay and an evening meal , if you were to ask would i stay there again it would be never if you were to ask would i eat there again it would be definitely, our stay was totally spoiled by the accommodation, firstly i thought that the restaurant and accommodation were together so my husband who does all the driving could have a drink , the 2 places are separated by the vineyard which is on a hill , there is a path down to the accommodation but its a hard core rubble path.... not good in heel shoes, in the rain etc, reception is at the restaurant not at the apartments, but there is no signage to this effect, we stayed in "rondo" and for the money we paid and extra for our dog we were very disappointed, there was a big chip out of the dining table, the bin lid had been bashed about, an old dried up reed diffuser, no bulb in the lounge lamp , toilet roll holder broken in bathroom, diamante embellishment hanging off bedroom table lamp, ensuite bathroom door does not open fully it bangs into the end of the bed, as the apartments are in a "horseshoe" shape anyone going to other rooms can look into your apartment as nearly all dont have net curtains , so if you want some privacy then you have to close the curtains, there is a log fire but we decided to put the wall heaters on one of which didn't work, on leaving the following morning i had to chuck a big fat slug off the inside mat ! HOWEVER our evening meal was fabulous , the staff very attentive and put us in the conservatory so our dog could be with us , service wasnt that quick , but we weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter , food was tasty hot and the views from the restaurant are to die for, i was going to purchase a bottle of their wine when we checked out the following day , but there was only the chef to deal with so i didnt bother .... this place basis its self on weddings and vineyard trips aswell as afternoon teas and lunches, we didnt stay for breakfast but as ive said previously if you ask me would i stay again its a definite no..never, if you ask would i eat there again its a big yes and i would love to try the afternoon tea sooner rather than later

Decided to book a table for lunch on a sunny day so booked via the online booking system two hours before only to be told when we arrived that they couldn't find our booking.Luckily there were free tables so we were informed by the hostess to grab ourselves some menus from the bar and to go find ourselves a table and that somebody would be over to take our order shortly( a little unusual as we were expecting to be shown to a table). We found a table in what was described as the the conservatory and waited. After 20 minutes of waiting and trying to get the waitresses attention we gave up and ordered food and drinks at the bar. Olives and bread was poor as the bread was low quality and dry. My chicken and sweet potato salad was actually undressed leaves and peppers with sweet potato fries mixed in ??. The house wine was of low quality and my wifes prawn wrap was low on the prawn count. All in all a really poor meal. We would definitely not return to eat here

Went on a mid-week tour of the winery and afternoon tea. I will review the winery separately. The afternoon tea was a good selection of bites and was excellent. Seating was in the conservatory with stunning views overlooking the valley. All in all very good value for money. I note that someone complained about the parking, whilst we were able to get onto the carpark with no problem I can imagine when they are busy there could be a problem.

Great location on a hill with amazing views. Quite a good menu choice. I had soup and then steak which were both lovely. Obviously finished with sticky toffee pudding which was yum. There was a party going on in the function room next door but we were warned about this when we booked - it was a little noisy but was good for people watching!?

We visited on a Sunday afternoon for the Prosecco Afternoon tea. Firstly parking was a nightmare, we ended up having to park on a very narrow country lane as the car park and drive was full.

Ridiculous service, we’ve visited for the first time today (currently sat here while leaving this review) thought we’d come for a Sunday roast for a change of scenery, drinks were slow enough but after our main course arrived we’ve currently been waiting 1h at least for our plates to be cleared, not even been offered more drinks or asked how our meals are, it’s not like it’s busy either, we had to ask for our plates to be cleared after waiting so long with a staff member clearing empty tables around us and still 20 mins later not had a dessert menu given to us. I cannot believe the poor service in this place - I thought it had a good reputation which is why we came to try it, the food was ok, but we won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

We visited over the bank holiday weekend, 10 adults and 2 children- had an absolutely amazing experience. The service, food and views were brilliant- would highly recommend. We were camping at Whitegates Leisure a 15 minute walk up the road so was great to visit. Great choice of food, our waitress was so helpful, she even kept our table so that we could do the vineyard tour and tasting and then go back for some more wine and desserts. My husband and I had stayed in the accommodation about 18 months ago - which I would def recommend, so was nice to go back. Definitely worth a visit.

I had bought a Groupon for afternoon tea and a vineyard tour, and booked through Groupon for the afternoon tea at 2:30pm (the earliest time available midweek) I was concerned that tours started at 3 and 30 minutes was not long enough to be seated and eat so I tried to call the restaurant a number of times on the days leading up to the visit but had no answer at all. I arrived at 1pm to find out if I could be seated early for the afternoon tea before the tour, as after would be a little late for afternoon tea in my eyes (tour advertised as 60-90 minutes long) I was informed that afternoon teas are usually served after the tour but happily served mine there and then. We had a lovely view in the conservatory over the valley. A huge pot of tea and two glasses of prosecco arrived. I don't usually like prosecco but this was good. Staff were attentive and asked about dietary requirements. Afternoon tea arrived and the sandwiches were quite underwhelming, two chicken with cranberry and two cheese with pickle, two small slices of wraps and two toast slices with pate on. The slices of cake were just mouthfuls but very nice. It came with a Panna cotta and raspberry coulis but we weren't given a spoon to eat it with, I was able to use my teaspoon from my tea but unfortunately my partner's spoon didn't fit.

We were seated quickly in a pleasant room. After a shortish wait we ordered 2 sandwiches, a portion of chips and 2 coffees. After a long wait the coffee arrived but was only lukewarm, I asked for another one that was hotter but the waitress seemed confused, eventually we got replacements which were slightly warmer but I didn't want to risk complaining twice ... The food was delicious but the chips were plonked down with no offer of vinegar or sauces, not even salt. After rugby tackling a passing waitress we asked for vinegar which was deposited on the table but with no comment or question about whether there was anything else we wanted. At no point did anyone ever come back to the table to ask if everything was alright or did we want anything else, which considering it is table service and not cheap, I would expect. We are still here wondering how on earth we pay as we have been finished for at least 15 minutes and are still being studiously ignored. Maybe if we get up to leave they might notice us. To summarise food lovely if expensive service atrocious.

The food has changed from traditional food your gammon and chips, fish and chips etc to trying to compare with bao buns at the Riverhead, sorry no contest. The pub smells of wet dogs particularly around the fire and the sofas and been bitten there. Not in a rush to go back .

" Gastropub " it says on their website....NEVER ! We went for Sunday lunch after reading how popular this place was on our local FB page. Not the nicest of dining areas , certainly not like their photos. Tiled floor , mis-matched furniture, more like a transport cafe for lorry drivers. The whole place is very rundown and drab , peeling wallpaper, damp patches etc. No starters available . Meat was tender and plates piled high but frozen soggy sprouts, cabbage with loads of stalk and nothing seasoned at all . Very bland .Not a good experience. We like to support local businesses but sadly won't return here. The staff were lovely but it needs a lot of money and a total revamp in order to survive . I hope it does!
