Fabulous service! Lovely bar area full of nostalgia. We visited for a friends birthday dinner and a very dark, windy and wet night in December 2023 and it was fantastic. Great choice of food and drink. 27.12.23 - Booked in mid-December to return today for lunch and very saddening to hear of a fire. Will donate our table deposit to help with restoration

Booked a table for a family xmas meal , we are regulars so we know what to expect , as usual food was excellent and the service was attentive ! A little gripe , mentioned to the waiter that the Pepper Sauce was salty - he said i will tell the chef - nothing came back . This review is more about T Mckinder - i know he cannot work 7 days a week and work every sitting , but when he is there the whole atmosphere and experience is lifted , he is an excellent manager and a credit to the Acres , sadly he wasn't working last night , and for us this detracts from the experience as he makes you feel very welcome and special - this is not a complaint - more of a compliment to TM !! Obviously we will be back in 2024 , as this is 1 of our favorite restaurants to visit and eat.

Fabulous family run gastropub with incredible views of the Yorkshire countryside. Warm, homely feel with servers who seem to care that your whole experience of being a guest really is as great as it can be. When the owner brings your meal out, you can see the passion for a great experience. Food is fresh and has a great combination of flavours and colour, and you always leave feeling full which is important to me! Bored of fancy restaurants where I leave a meal table still hungry. Visited a few times and it always seems to have a new menu and improvements to the decor. Part of the restaurant to the right of the bar has been reinvigorated recently and looks fabulous but it was so busy we couldn’t sit in there. Next time!!

A Warm welcome from friendly and knowledgeable staff. This place was very busy which appears to be embraced by the Management Team and Staff. Shown to our table, greeted by the General Manager. I mentioned to the bar staff this was our first time that somehow got the attention of the General Manager, his name is Terry. He was clearly a very busy man but made the effort to greet us and explain the menu which I thought was a great touch. The food was sensational, the starters, the mains and the sweets were top quality. Felt like we were in a first-class restaurant in the middle on London’s West End. Grace (I think) who looked after us was wonderful, polite, attentive, professional and made us feel very welcome. Very impressed. Topped off by another visit from Terry and the end of the meal, asking us if we enjoyed our meal and how the service was. The whole experience was fantastic. We are already deciding to visit again, with the possibility of stay over and bringing our family to experience the same memorable evening we had. Thank you so much. This place is special.!!!

We have eaten here on different occasions and have never been disappointed. All staff made us feel comfortable. The manager was welcoming and super friendly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Our meal started with the sharing starter, a delightful way to explore a range of flavors and dishes when you want to try them.all. We both opted for the fillet steak as our main course, and it was prepared to perfection. So I really like the three acres, we ate there last night and stayed over the food etc. was really good if a little slow on delivery. Room 16 is very good needs a better shower but not a big deal. Breakfast however was really frustrating having stayed here before I definitively didn’t expect full breakfast to be chargeable as it hasn’t been before but the fact you can have an inclusive continental breakfast/bacon sandwich with a £15 cover then be expected to pay £14.60 for a full breakfast is quite frankly ridiculous and the management here need to shake their head. PS no toast etc. all ridiculous do not step away from why I think this a good place, slacking isn’t a good move

Upon booking we booked dinner for 7 pm we very quickly got a phone call asking us to come in earlier because they want to shut the kitchen at 7 pm. This seems to be poor communication between the kitchen and the management. Nonetheless, we arrived at 6.30pm and we were very quickly asked what food we wanted to quickly order. The suited gentlemen who took the order wasn’t particularly friendly or excited to see us. This is the only aspect of the visit, I have marked down for and I hope my feedback is taken on board. The waitress Ruby was very friendly, and the atmosphere and table settings were lovely. They had fantastic cocktail options and great wine selection. Champagne and oysters were also available! Food offerings were good, including Sunday dinner for those who want it. Ruby really made our visit special, and she was incredibly knowledgeable about the wine, and was a very gracious host. We are regulars at this restaurant for Sunday lunch and all occasions, and this was our family’s favourite place to eat. The food is outstanding however on our visit today (the first since COVID) we were undoubtedly disappointed I’m afraid. The service went from friendly and helpful to suffocating and wouldn’t leave us alone. This was very odd as they had never been like this before. When we reached the end of our meal and received the bill, we were greeted by “optional gratuity” of 10%. This was immensely rude and a shame as we usually leave a tip of 20% and was not as “optional” as they described as they did not check or ask before inputting the full sum into the card machine. Finally, they attempted to overcharge us by about £40 and when queried, we were met with a lengthy lecture about how they essentially messed up with no hint of an apology whatsoever. We found the whole experience incredibly rude and unfortunately will be giving this restaurant a break for a while.

After waiting 7 months to return to our favourite restaurant we were not disappointed. As expected the restaurant was fully booked due to high demand and the staff did their very best to make sure we were kept supplied with drinks whilst we waited for our food. The atmosphere was great and the staff extremely friendly and professional. It’s very easy to review when something isn’t quite as you would like it but people rarely go out of their way to review when things are spot on. The food was exceptional as usual with a new fresh menu and the high standard that is synonymous with The 3 Acres. Food isn’t rushed out, but then if it was I would be worried, it’s prepared with care and cooked to order rather than being mass produced like many other restaurants in the area. Well done Tom, Tom and Terry, your food and service should be applauded, we have missed dining and are very glad to be back.

First meal here in over a year and used to be a favourite. So disappointing as nothing tastes as it did before, previously the steak and sauces etc happily tasted near identical each visit - always cooked to perfection and delicious but no longer. Noticed there isn’t a named butcher on the menu and felt the quality of ingredients overall was all very poor - sad prawn cocktail that tasted of cheap Mayo. Dry, over cooked steaks served with some lettuce (coleslaw now removed) most of chips were left (how can chips be bad?? I’m not sure how but they managed) with the side sauces served in little ceramic pots with skins on - both tasted nothing like you’d expect and also left. Long, long waits for the food and barely any service it was difficult to get drinks and ended up not having time for dessert/coffees even if we had wanted them. Wish we’d have read some reviews before visiting and will be hoping it returns to usual standards before long.

The three issues are the quality of the food served, ever diminishing portions and now sky high price hikes, plus now a 10% service charge on top of sky high pricing.Went last week for lunch, chicken caesar salad £21-95 came swimming in dressing, too thin should be thicker sticking to salad leaves, really felt like shouting but the restaurant was busy and really did not want to create a fuss, just had the one course and we left. We were so excited about dining here again, having booked a table as soon as we could, once the booking system reopened. We have enjoyed excellent food here in the past, and eagerly anticipated a repeat of previous experiences. On this occasion however, we were disappointed. The service AND the food were not up to standard and definitely not worthy of a £350 price tag (for the four of us). Clearly, the restaurant presently has staffing issues, both front of house and evidently also in the kitchen. The service in between courses was poor (and we are not impatient people ), and some aspects of the food were not good enough for a restaurant of this standard. I think the management perhaps are aware of this, as when we sent back one starter and were asked for feedback on another, they readily deducted the cost of these two dishes from the bill. Obviously we appreciated this and I think this is to their credit, recognising when something hasn't met expectations. With regard to our main courses, both mine and my husband's steaks , whilst still being tasty, were overcooked. Two of our party ordered chateaubriand on our recommendation. We've enjoyed this dish on several occasions previously, but this time it was smaller, drier and overcooked. I'm hoping that all of the above are teething troubles upon reopening . This particular evening we were celebrating an important family event but because of the poor service we didn't have time to enjoy desserts or coffees, as we had to leave for pre booked taxis. I made two bookings when the reservation system became available, but unless things improve I'm not sure that we'll keep the remaining date. Really hoping that this previous local gem regains its mojo and returns to its pre covid best .

We arrived 30minutes early a head of our table booking, so headed to the Tipi for pre drinks. Spoke to waitress who told us to sit anywhere and she would come and take our order. 15 minutes later no one had been over to our table, but they had been to others. My husband asked again if we could order a drink a few minutes later a waitress came to take our order, waited another 10min.. Still no drinks so we heading in for our table. Service good in the restaurant, we felt looked after and there was always somebody about should we need to ask anything. The starters were lovely and arrived in a good time. My husbands T-bone steak was fatty and chewy and he could barely eat it. We mentioned this to a waitress who said the chef is likely to say ‘ there’s nothing he can do it’s just the cut of meat’. The manager came over was very apologetic and asked if he would like anything else, which he didn’t at this point. The bill arrived with £34.00 steak on. I felt I needed to mention this again as my husband had not been able to eat it. This was discounted from the bill. All in all we felt like we’d arrived at a party uninvited. Paid a fortune for food that was just OK.

Usually love the 3 acres and was so excited to come as I had booked this over a month ago. Firstly, it took a while for a member of staff to acknowledge us and seat us to our table which wasn’t brilliant. Orders for drinks and food came round pretty quickly but I had to ask to send me mojito back as it was flat and tasted sour. Got our starter really quickly which was ok but nothing amazing. Waited over an hour for our pizzas when we noticed other people who seated after us had already had their food. We pointed this out to a member of staff who then informed us our ordered hadn’t reached the kitchen and they were sorry/ offered us a free drink on the house. Our food came fairly quickly after that and tasted pretty decent. Not sure if we did get the free drink as when we asked for the bill we were never offered or even got the chance to look at the receipt so for all I know we could of been charged that and might of been charged the for the drink I sent back but like I say we did not see the bill. We had been there for over two hours and was absolutely frozen ( not their fault but the time we had been there had doubled due to our order not getting to the kitchen) we left and ordered a desert online as we didn’t want to wait an hour for a desert! Usually love the 3 acres for a special occasion but I feel the service absolutely let them down on this occasion.

My husband and I live quite local to this restaurant, although we would usually save it for special occasions. We visited one evening when the ''Eat Out to Help Out Scheme'' was in it's final week - and whilst that may have seemed a good idea when we booked it, sadly they were very very busy and whilst the service was okay it was not as good as I would usually find it. Having said that we haven't been for a while, what with the Covid-19 situation !Very polite staff on arrival, did the remote temp. check on each guest and asked to scan in with track and trace app on phone and then taken through to our table. It was a belated Wedding Anniversary treat ( it had been in lockdown) and we thought we may as well take advantage of the Rishi Sunak deal to get a bit of the bill ! With 2 children at Uni every little helps - and we don't go out a lot !That said the food was very nice. My husband remarked the wine was nice too, I don't drink alcohol due to medication I take and sadly there wasn't much choice for me. I would have though a couple of alcohol-free cocktails like I have had elsewhere would not be hard to make ?! Instead I was left with water. The atmosphere, the service, and food was all very nice. i did order a coffee to come at the end and this got forgotten. I tried on several occasions to try and get the attention of waiting staff but they seemed to be prepping tables for the next day and failed to get anyone's attention ( I used to be a Medical Rep who dined out a lot and was quite the pro at getting the attention of waiting staff, so it's not that I am a shrinking violet - but I think they were very busy - thus the Rishi Sunak effect ( a staff member agreed with me this was the case ) and I think our table service did suffer as a result. It may seem trivial to some to not get the coffee you ordered, but when there was very little in the way of adult alcohol-free drinks, I was quite looking forward to my coffee at the end of the meal. And attention to detail is not something that is usually lacking here at the 3 Acres !As far as Covid-19 is concerned I felt they had all the necessary protocols for safety in place.

We have been here many times and it is still our go-to restaurant if we want to be assured of good food.On our last visit we had the chateaubriand (excellent) and so decided on fillet steak, separately this time. As expected, the steak was delicious; cooked and seasoned perfectly. I do think all the sides should be included in the price however, since it's not cheap! We did feedback to the waitress that the fried egg that comes as part of the optional (extra) sides wouldn't be required. I hope this got back to the kitchen: who wants a fried egg with a fillet steak and bearnaise sauce? I would have thought that the Three Acres team could come up with a more imaginative accompaniment? My starter of game and black pudding spring roll was excellent , however my partner's morecambe bay shrimps were underwhelming and definitely not worth the price tag.Possibly down to personal choice, but we preferred the menu before this current one. Having said all of the above, this is still my preferred restaurant in our area. Lovely ambience and generally speaking, very good food.

Visited this stunning restaurant on Saturday. From entering to leaving we were given special attention by all their staff. We were celebrating two family belated birthdays, and it was certainly worth the visit. This restaurant as numerous sitting areas, all beautifully designed, with attention given to cleanliness, space and with a sophisticated look.Throughout our afternoon stay, we were looked after by Ellie, who gave us superb service and friendliness, and helped to make this a special day for our family. The food was too a very high standard, good size portions, served warm, and very tasty. Well done to the catering staff. At the end, Ellie surprised us with a birthday treat, and a special bag of brownies for our granddaughter. Well done to Ellie. It is worth going out of your way to visit this wonderful restaurant. We have been visiting this restaurant on numerous occasions, and on each visit the standard gets better. Well done to all concerned at the Three Acres.Miles Netherwood and family.

First visit here for our anniversary and it didn't disappoint. The food, service and wine were lovely. Our starters were parfait and croquettes, the parfait is the best I've ever had. The mains of stroganoff and beef fillet were amazing with the celeriac puree being so silky. Panacotta finished the meal and it was lovely with the mango sorbet cutting through the richness of the creamy panacotta. Will definitely be back with an overnight stay next time!

I went with my friend to celebrate her work anniversary. We made an effort dress up to go here. Don’t regret it! Very fancy place! Staff are really friendly. Quick service! The waiter forgot to bring my friends drink but he realised quickly and made it free for her. The beef sirloin was really delicious. My friend had the crab soup and pork soup which she said was really tasty too! We shared the the Panna cotta dessert! Worth going back just to have this again! We were happy with the whole experience!

This was the first time we had returned to this old favourite of ours. We went with family friends for Sunday lunch. All the Covid-19 precautions were clearly in evidence. The lunch was very good . Great starterts and good main courses but...what has happened to the sharing dish of vegetables? The chicken main course was particularly lost on a large plate. Puddings OK but small portions. At £34.95 a bit more was expected. Was VAT charged at 5%? Not sure about this.

What a fab restaurant and location! Visited here with family for a birthday meal, cheerfully greeted at reception, temperature check on each person, shown to our table and asked if we were happy with it. All staff wearing masks, socially distanced tables and staff sanitising menus etc all the time. Excellent menu choices, fish and chips was amazing and steak and mushroom pie delicious too. Staff were all friendly and attentive. Attention to detail was paramount and wanted to make it a comfortable and pleasant experience for us all.

I was expecting a great lunch as I have dined here before in the evening. It was reassuring to have our temperatures taken on entering and to see the arrangements in place to safeguard against covid. The service was excellent. I had the french onion soup for starters which was lovely but the choices on the menu were a bit uninspiring. The fish and chips were excellent and my guest had the duck which was ok but just not that interesting. It was on the expensive side even including the discount for eat out to help out.

The Three Acres is a lovely place with very attentive staff and I certainly don't mind paying for something a little special. However I was very disappointed with the food. I had a reasonable starter, ok, no more. But then I had a beetroot and onion tart, absolutely no beetroot evident, just an onion tart and not a particularly good one. The tart came with nothing else, just a little lettuce. It costs £19! It was incredibly sweet, it needed something to balance this sweetness. I just couldn't believe a small tart was £19 with no vegetables or salad..it was more like a starter.I did complain and I am pleased to say they were very apologetic and took the tart off the bill. The reason customers go somewhere like the Three Acres is because they are looking for something special, the food should reflect the price. At £12 for a starter and £20-£25 for a main dish I was very disappointed. I doubt I will return. I am sorry to say for the three acres that competition in the local area is good, you need to do better.

We booked the private dining for a friend's 50th birthday and it was absolutely perfect. We sat at the tipi in the afternoon and even with the strict guidelines at present, the staff were very accommodating and the service was brilliant. Hotel at night, private dining was fantastic, though we had to all sit at separate tables, the staff again were amazing and the even was brilliant when we honestly believed we weren't going to be able to do it. Saturday morning was glorious and the waitress brought coffee onto the terrace prior to breakfast for us . The whole experience was perfect and the staff could not be any better, they made the whole visit just amazing. Very grateful for them being able to do this for us in the current climate!

Have always loved the 3 acres and decided to try it as a special lunch time treat following lock down. The staff as ever were helpful and attentive. Covid-19 restrictions which were put in place were excellent and felt very reassured on having temperature checked. The oysters were delicious and presented lovely, wish I had ordered more. Went for the medium rare fillet which melted in the mouth. The only thing I was disappointed in was the dessert which was a wild strawberry pavlova which sounded lovely. However, the meringue was incredibly dry and not soft and chewy in the middle as I would expect. It was so hard that I could hardly cut into it and sadly had to leave the meringue. The afternoon was rounded off with a drink in the Tipi bar which I have to say is a great addition and I do hope that they can somehow continue to have this facility going forward. All in all a lovely afternoon. Will be booking again but will select a different dessert next time.

My husband and I had not been out socially since lockdown and were very apprehensive about doing so. We heard that the Three Acres Restaurant , always my favourite local place to dine, was scrupulous about social distancing and I can absolutely confirm that fact after dining there this evening. We had our temperatures taken on arrival and were escorted to our table, which was far more than 2 metres from other diners. I felt completely safe and I must congratulate the restaurant for doing such an excellent job! The team of sanitisers moving around was reassuring and professional. The meal was perfect in every way and I do not expect anything less from this lovely restaurant. The prawn cocktail was full of tasty prawns and not too much lettuce which often happens elsewhere, the chicken breast was very tender and juicy and the seasonal vegetables were cooked how I like them, not too al dente. My husband enjoyed his Scotch egg starter, which he described as delicious, followed by beef stroganoff, the latter full of tender strips of beef and accompanied by seasonal vegetables. We were too full for a dessert but finished with a coffee each which rounded off a perfect meal. Thank you for providing a safe evening in such difficult times and for maintaining the high standards for which you are renowned. Thank you also to the efficient and professional young staff who provided attentive service throughout. Perfect!

Wanted to try somewhere we hadn't visited before and had heard good things. Staff were very polite and welcoming. Drinks came quickly and the speed of service for food was spot on. Chicken liver parfait was delicious and my better half loved her butternut squash soup. The beef stroganoff was lovely and my partners steak was cooked to perfection. Portion sizes were good and we had to pass on dessert as we had no more room. Interior and exterior of the restaurant looks great. If we lived closer we would definitely visit more often. Some may deem it expensive but you get what you pay for, a great dining experience with tasty food and lovely staff. Would definitely recommend

I booked a table as a surprise for my husbands birthday on Saturday evening. When booking I was lucky to get the last available table which is a very good sign that people are dining at our favorite restaurant once agani! We arrived at 6.15pm and after having our temperature taken we were shown straight to out table as the bar area was unavailable due to Covid and safe distancing. A young gentleman whom wore a mask took our drinks order and went through the specials that were available which were plenty, We then were looked after by Jake who was very friendly and attentive. My husband ordered the scallops to start and I ordered the prawn cocktail, we both then ordered the fish and chips (my husband the large portion and myself the small) The starters were delicious, the scallops were very delicate and tasty and the prawn cocktail as always was fab....lots of prawns! I have to say when our mains came I have never seen such a big portion of fish and chips presented to my husband, thank goodness I ordered the smaller portion. The fish was so white and the batter was perfect, the chips are the best we have eaten in a long time. The curry sauce, mushy peas and homemade tartar sauce were perfect and came in little separate dishes so you could have as little or as much as you wished. I have to say my husband made a very good job of finishing the fish and chips but sadly we had absolutely no room for pudding....maybe next time!We left the car and got a taxi home as decided to walk back the following day to collect the car and have a drink in the teepee which is the gounds. What a fabulous idea so you can enjoy a drink in the sunshine and at safe distancing. We have already booked a table for this Friday to enjoy the food which is also been served :) Cant wait! Thank you for making his birthday weekend special!Neil and Samantha Wragg

After our starters my wife and I both had the large fish and chips which was the best Fish and Chips that we have ever tasted.

Glad to see the outstanding Three Acres open once again after this dreadful period in our history . Even better to see that the Three Acres is firing on all cylinders having used their ingenuity to abide by the restrictions the guidelines impose without sacrificing the tremendous atmosphere, service and menu for which they deserve the highest praise. We celebrated an end to lockdown with our family last night and had a throughly enjoyable meal. They didn’t waste the months of enforced idleness imposed upon them by the government’s reaction to the corona virus; they’ve created a very comfortable extension to the dining area by knocking through to a former private room. I thoroughly recommend a visit for anyone wishing to sample traditional Yorkshire hospitality of the highest standards.

I cancelled (before the lockdown announcement) my 3 flexible room reservations well ahead of the cut-off deadline. 3 weeks later, I have received no acknowledgement, no refund of money paid, no response to follow up e-mails and letter, and cannot contact by phone. I understand all businesses are in a very difficult period, mine is too, and this doesn't help. Even a simple e-mail to say that they are busy but it will be dealt with as soon as possible could surely have been possible in 3 weeks.

So we were booked to visit 3 acres this Saturday. We had a phone call today saying they were closing because of the corona virus, this decision was obviously what was best for their staff and customers. We then asked for our deposit back, they said no you can use it at a later date. As we were not planning on returning any time soon as this was a birthday meal, we then said no we need it back as we would like to go somewhere else. We do not often get to go out so this would be £100 sat their until another occasion which we can not justify. So eventually my husband spoke to the manager/owner who went on to say if we have our money back we are not welcome there again! How disgusting is that. We realise it’s a hard time for everyone but there was no need for this. I am so upset that he would be so harsh about our own money. You should be given the choice if you want it back or not.
