We have enjoyed Harris & James elsewhere in Suffolk & Norfolk, mainly for the gelato. This time we went inside for a coffee/tea and a cake. The coffee and tea were OK, the cookies and cakes reasonable and the donut small. Service was average and the prices not cheap. OK but nothing special.

We booked a table for 1.00pm and were seated and our order taken within 10 minutes. Our servers were friendly and efficient, but our meals didn't arrive until 2.00pm. Unfortunately, most of it was inedible. The vegetables were dried out, the yorkshire pudding, which made up most of the meal, was rubbery and tasteless and the roast potatoes were so overcooked, they looked like and had the texture of charcoal. Only one of our party managed to break one open, but they were black most of the way through. I understand accidents happen in the kitchen, but don't serve you mistakes to customers! Sorry, I wont recommend and definitely won't be back. Sorry

Did not stay at the hotel, but went there for Sunday lunch, as there was an offer on. Sounded better than it was in reality. 30% off mains. But then you get a pub like this which charges extra for ‘sides’ which you expect to be part of the lunch. Never before known to have to pay £1.29 for two very small stuffing balls, or £3.50 plus for a cauliflower cheese. Oh and sides nor desserts included in the deal. Don’t forget ‘mains only’. For dessert a small slice of lemon tart for £7.50. Oh yes and cherry compote rather than the advertised berry compote. I don’t like Cherries. But to cap it all I would expect a biscotti biscuit with the coffee, not a custard cream! As to the pub itself. Tired. Chairs with worn seats, the conservatory overlooking a scrufffy car park and industrial units. Just when you think it can’t get worse the waitress brings out a bottle of red wine and 3 glasses to the next table. She placed the glasses with her fingers inside the glasses. No wonder the ladies asked for the wine glasses to be clean! So over £60 for a mediocre meal for two. Yes we did get £10 off (£70 without the deal) , but definitely not worth it and we won’t be back.

We went for a Sunday lunch and everything was fantastic. It was a lovely traditional village pub, the staff and locals were friendly and welcoming. Now for the food, wow absolutely beautiful, plentiful and flavoursome and loads of gravy as well! Thank you so much

This was a little gem of a find for breakfast. On a glorious sunny last day of February we were fortunate enough to be able to sit outside and soak up the sun. The breakfast was superb, quality ingredients and cooked to perfection, along with a lovely mug of tea. I would definitely return if I come back to Brixham

Lovely setting at monkseaton however disappointed with the quality of the Sunday lunches been to cheaper places with better quality should of complained at the time really but it such a lovely little place didn’t want to come across as rude but looking back I should have, beef was tasteless and the veg selection was barely warm.

Booked a table based on the good reviews for my partner's birthday. Arrived at restaurant and taken to our table which was situated right next to entry door, partner asked whether we could be moved and had a long wrangle with front of house, being told that all the tables were booked and we couldn't be accommodated. Finally we were allowed a table for an 1 hour under the proviso that we may not get our food before table needed, as so busy. Sat down and first courses came quickly and both quite happy, then waited almost 30 mins, while tables lay unoccupied around us before having to ask where our main courses were. We were assured they were arriving shortly, after people who had arrived after us had been served. Mains were really below par, meat and Yorkshire puddings stone cold, veg overcooked, no condiments offered and generally really disappointed. The plates were nearly as full when they left as when they arrived. Asked for the bill it was shoved at us as though they couldn't wait to get rid of us. I for one am really surprised that the reviews are so good as I wouldn't recommend the Coachman to anyone, especially not if it is for a special occasion.

Enjoyed a nice casual lunch in the conservatory area, food etc was good but wanted to give a shout out to Brad. Efficient friendly service is an increasingly rare thing these days but Brad's service and attention was impressive - thank you!

Ideally located near the rail station and amusements across from the North Beach . They have a large range of food available from a basic sausage sarnie , full English breakfast to fantastic sea food platters . I would never consider going anywhere else .
