Second time i have been here, my friend lives in robin hoods bay and knows all the local people/shops etc. so he should know who's the best. Had fish and chips, massive fish (hanging off the plate) home cooked chips, salad and garden peas (mushy if you like) the fish was excellent, batter was tasty the fish was a nice fillet and boneless. Wife had chicken korma but when she saw the size of the meal I had, she then wished she'd had the same!! I wasn't sharing....lol.....the korma was nice as well which i finished off....not cheap but miles better value than the two chip shops that are in robin hoods bay, actually it was £1 more expensive and for that you had the pleasure of sitting down to eat your meal and the portions much much bigger.....cant wait for my next trip to RHB....
We stopped by for a spot of lunch on a Friday afternoon while waiting to check in at our hotel. It was busy but we found a seat. We were attracted to the specials board in the window, so we thought we'd try it out. Staff were friendly, and we were served quickly. The cafe was spotless and well presented.
I ordered the turkey roll with chips and gravy. I was very disappointed with what I got.
Firstly, this is not a roll, this is a bun, or the correct term in Yorkshire is a bap. The chips were OK,nice and chunky but tasteless. I was expecting gravy on the chips as described on the board, but that's not what I was given. At £8.95 this meal was certainly not worth it. Maybe a fiver would be more appropriate.
Definitely will not be eating here again
We always liked coming here but recently they have a ridiculous rule about not letting your dog drink out of a dish you bring with you. My dog won't share water with other dogs and I don't particularly want it catching an illness, so it had to go without. Apparently it's because they think a dog will splash water on the floor and someone might slip, which could easily be fixed with some blue roll or a mop. Children spill their drinks too, but I guess that must be non-slip liquid. Will eat elsewhere in future.
Albert’s became a family favourite after our last visit in 2021 - a fantastic location offering a wonderful choice of seafood, served professionally and with a touch of sophistication.
In 2023 we had family from USA and Australia visiting, so on a trip to Whitby we booked Albert’s as a way of showcasing the ‘Best of British’ - unfortunately in the intervening period, the standard has dropped significantly. Menu choices were limited (the seafood platters we were expecting weren’t available) and whilst the service was friendly, it felt overall like we were eating at a slightly upmarket cafe - such a waste of the wonderful location.
Hopefully the people running Albert’s can recruit well and get the kitchen back to where it used to be, and a bit of training for front of house to bring back the special feel that it we experienced on our earlier visit.
My husband & I had jacket potatoes which were oven baked & very good. He had hot chilli & I had tuna mayo. Both were great.
Our daughter had tuna melt baguette & chips which she really enjoyed.
Food was hot, tasty & very reasonably priced.
Would recommend & return.

This is a very charming and quiet hotel. It's old and dated but that's the typical Scarborough experience. I liked that breakfast starts 7:30am so I was able to eat before work. My only complaint is the often long wait to talk to someone at reception.
Fab location and prices seemed reasonable. Had a coffee that was cold and a piece of flapjack that was awful. It was almost like it wasn't cooked. Took one mouthfull and left the rest which was a shame as we'd walked a few miles to get there. Shame our experience wasn't as good as everyone else's.
