Emma's coffee lounge in Scarborough

We stopped by for a spot of lunch on a Friday afternoon while waiting to check in at our hotel. It was busy but we found a seat. We were attracted to the specials board in the window, so we thought we'd try it out. Staff were friendly, and we were served quickly. The cafe was spotless and well presented. I ordered the turkey roll with chips and gravy. I was very disappointed with what I got. Firstly, this is not a roll,this is a bun, or the correct term in Yorkshire is a bap. The chips were OK,nice and chunky but tasteless. I was expecting gravy on the chips as described on the board, but that's not what I was given. At £8.95 this meal was certainly not worth it. Maybe a fiver would be more appropriate. Definitely will not be eating here again

Un lugar fabuloso, amable, acogedor y con el mejor servicio. La comida es en su mayoría de origen local y casero. Desayunamos para 6 durante una visita reciente y el precio era muy razonable. No podía volver lo suficientemente alto. Jamón casero, quiche casero y todos los pasteles y bollos se veían increíbles.

Was told by another guest where I was staying that breakfast was good. Tried and was excellent loved the food, the staff were very friendly and it was very clean. Went back the 2nd morning. We had a small full English and a bacon sandwich. Definitely would visit again if in the area. Dog friendly bonnie gives 5 paws

My two Greyhounds made themselves right at home here. 🏡 They were made welcome, its beautifully clean and the decor is lovely, lots of twinkling lights a cosy carpet and booths to sit in. The food was excellent, I'm celiac so it was great to see gluten free options. Lovely sandwiches with side salad 🥗 😋 very happy!

My first visit to Emma's Coffee Lounge. What a lovely place! The atmosphere was terrific! Small tables but just big enough for 4 of us to sit round with our drinks. The biscotti flapjack looked very tempting and we had to have one each. A little bit sweet but deliciously chewy. I can't give Emma's 5 stars as we didn't have any food. I did notice cheese and pickle quiche, which looked tasty. If we'd had more time that would have been my choice! The staff were all friendly and chatty. Toilets upstairs. Very clean. Disabled access was outstanding. Plenty of space between tables. Dog friendly. Outdoor seating available too.

Great food plenty of it came fast and hot. Friendly helpful polite staff excellent service. Will be visiting again in the future.

A gem of a cafe tucked away in Scarborough center with a surprisingly large menu. Loads of gluten free options, including a full English served all day which was one of the best full English breakfasts I've had in years.

Stumbled across Emma’s today and what a find, a lovely cafe with a varied menu and friendly, welcoming staff. Orders are made at the counter but were ready in no time and really tasty. Hubby and I both had full English breakfasts (served until 3) which were perfectly cooked and piping hot. Will definitely be returning and recommending.

Possibly the worst cappuccino I've ever had - cup of very (tooooo) hot milk mixed with a little espresso and topped with some bubbles. Very poor but........ The eggs Benedict were AWESOME! The ham alone I could've eaten all day every day and never got fed up with it! Despite my comments re the cappuccino we returned the following day for food when I had the full English. Everything you might hope for (barring a second sausage!!!) Stuck to the filter coffee this time (not often you find that on offer!) so no chance of any milk streaming catastrophes! The coffee was really nice and no bubbles!

Usually always come in here. However this time the food seemed to take ages to come which meant you had finished your drink. We ordered 2 bacon sandwiches on white bread and were given two bacon rolls. When I queried this time was told that that’s what came through to the kitchen. Not wanting to make a fuss, we ate the rolls. (Bacon plentiful and lovely as usual). Disappointed and went to the cafe across the road the day after.

We always pop in here with our fur baby for lunch when in Scarborough. Lovely atmosphere, welcoming, friendly staff. Nice meals and toasted sandwiches, very reasonably priced. Tilly (our Westie) gets herself settled under our table and does some people watching😂 while having her lunch.

This my freinds is the place,the food and service is second to none,we had liver ,chips ,and pees, and it wS off the scale.there is just something about the cafe, its like your mum or dad to be politically correct has cooked it for you,it's that good ,I would recommend it to everyone,

I live in Scarborough and quite often call in to have some food, their Cheese and Mushroom Omelette are lovely, the staff are very helpful and friendly. Recommend 100%

This place really surpassed our expectations. The food was delicious, we had gorgeous prawn sandwich with homemade coleslaw (essential clue to a good cafe!) and an amazing breakfast wrap. Also a scone which was still warm. Lovely friendly atmosphere, dog friendly, very reasonable prices. We will definitely be back!

Stumbled across Emma's Coffee Lounge by accident on a day out from Bridlington and, believe me, we were not disappointed. Highly Recommended 👍

A I love this place , whenever I visit Scarborough. This place has been here for over 100 years. I had prawn sandwich and it was delicious 😋. Girls are lovely that serve here. Its so old fashion it's beautiful to see how they have kept the original look. We love it. Its worth while just going in having coffee and cake or breakfast. Food it really nice and fresh.

I'm always on the lookout for another place to find coffee. I spotted this rather quaint café as I wandered around the town. This is a very laid-back sort of place and free from the normal drama associated with loud mouthed females and their awful offspring. I ordered a white coffee and got one! I never had to use a fancy name. They knew what I meant when I spoke English! If you like peace and quiet then this is a place to head for.

A very enjoyable relaxed atmosphere. Excellent hot coffee, and good range of meals.

One of the best cafes in Scarborough. Traditional tea room/greasy spoon located half way between McDonalds and The Grand hotel. Been in business 40 years plus and the deco is looking dated. Quality of the food is consistent. Largely self-service style. I am guessing that the cafe is popular with some locals and visitors who find themselves in that part of town.

Good cooked breakfast, veggie breakfast and breakfast omelette. *Highlight - all eggs double yokers* Coffee abit weak. Good service and friendly staff, despite being very busy. Would go back.

Wife and Moi, popped in here today while we're on holiday and we really enjoyed it, I am fussy about my almond milk coffee and I was impressed to see here they use Alpro almond barista milk in the coffee which i think is thee best, we also had cake and it was yummy. Friendly staff, very cosy 'covid safe alcoves' to enjoy your food and drink, spotless decor and carpets, clean clean clean toilets, i give emma's coffee lounge 5 stars

Lovely place a bit expensive for the portion size

Came to Emma's today for lunch with my mum for her birthday. We got the fish goujons and chips. They were the best fish we've had in a long time. Chips weren't bad either. We also got curd yard and meringue for afters both really lovely. Staff were brilliant. Great COVID measures. Would highly recommend. A*****

Had afternoon tea here and it was brilliant. A lovely selection of ribbon sandwiches, scones and cakes. This has to be booked in advance (ideally a day ahead, but we were able to book in the morning for the same day). Excellent value, friendly service, clean loos, and the whole place is divided into booths which is great for privacy as well as public health.

Wow! Cakes are amazing and the sandwiches we sampled were fresh and full of flavour. We returned a couple of times and have to recommend the carrot cake, delicious. Staff are lovely, friendly and welcoming. Just what we needed for a short rest bite.

I visited here with my Auntie for an afternoon tea. The overall experience was excellent. The welcome and service were a pleasure and the afternoon tea was the best either of us has ever had. We were impressed by their Covid social distancing measures and the plus was that the food was good too.

We visited Scarborough and happened up this coffee lounge. The food and service was excellent, beautifully cooked and presented and the service was outstanding. The staff were warm, friendly and professional and made us feel safe whilst still maintaining all the necessary precautions during these Covid times.

Good quality food, cooked to order.Friendly and welcoming team, nothing too much trouble for them. Feel very safe and secure with what has been put in place regarding Covid Regulations. It is a definite must visit. As well as breakfast their lunches and cakes are equally superb, tasty and very filling.

I was in town for a particular reason that day. My usual cafe was closed so went to Emma's instead, where I had a lovely jacket potato and beans and a mint tea which came in a tall clear glass mug. Staff helpful and friendly, food good sized portion. Mint tea delicious, would go again. Good value for money.

I have not ventured out for a drink during these testing times... But I can say I felt at ease here safe with all the measures they have in place at Emma's. Track and trace works well and staff are very friendly and inviting even though its a different way of working.Good service and food as always. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Xxx

Had a lovely catch up with a friend over delicious homemade carrot cake & a nice cup of tea .Made all the better by the great steps put in place to keep everyone safe in these trying times, everything was explained in a polite way by the staff , who were very helpful & made sure we were able to enjoy our socially distanced catch up safely .

I don't normally do reviews good or bad, but felt the need to do so this time.Wanting hot drink while out shopping my partner and I popped into Emma's, like most people and staff we are getting used to all the different guide lines on C19.My partner used the track n trace system and logged us in, and in we went, only to meet a waitress ? Who was blunt to the point of being rude told my partner to pull her face mask up (ok we all make mistakes ) we sat down at a table and again in a voice that could have called in a trawler at a fish dock, told us we would be told when we could go to the counter to place our order, and to make sure we wore a mask.bit if a strange system as surely it would be best to take people's order then bring it to them, less movement of customers means less likely hood of strangers passing each other ect.While we were waiting a group of four senior ladies came in and were welcomed with open arms and asked to find a table, not one had their masks over their noses, nothing was said to any of them.Not one booked into track n trace and the waitress certainly did not ask them for details ect while we were on the premises.We both work in the service industry and the lady who served us simply would not last in our field, in these stressful times a little bit of banter and a helpful attitude go along way,we cut our visit short and took lunch at another establishment across the way.Sorry Emma's but we will not use your services again, first impressions are lasting ones.

I have been going to this coffee shop for a number of years now, and have got to know the owners and the staff and they have always been very friendly and welcoming. My friend and I often partake of their great English Breakfast or toasted sandwiches and they are delicious.Everything has been put in place to keep to the governments guidelines during this strange time we are in now.

Firstly, I must say how disappointed we were that afternoon teas were not available due to obvious restrictions. I have heard they are the best in Scarborough.If the Breakfast is anything to go by, I should imagine the teas to be fantastic. We had two English breakfasts and a lovely cup of coffee. Everything was cooked to perfection and a mug of coffee went down a treat. I am a brown sauce connoisseur and the fruity sauce was a lovely touch. Well worth a visit.

It is a small thing, but can make a huge difference. They open at 8:30. Most open at 9. That 30 mins makes a big difference when you are moving about. Very well organized. Good quality ingredients. Good value.
