Londesborough Arms in Scarborough

Called in Sunday for the supposedly reopened carvery, was told in a rather sharp manner that it was not on ! We left and went down the road to our usual haunt, where the staff are always happy and courteous !

The Londesborough Arms has recently re-opened under new management with food available from 8th July. It’s great to have the pub open again. Friendly, helpful staff and great home cooked food. From our selection, home made steak and ale pie was a really good choice but the Chilli con Carni was also tasty and plentiful. Perhaps not the cheapest meals in the village (no 2 for £XX offers) but by no means expensive and the home made factor certainly worth the difference in price. I might regret saying this but the sticky toffee pudding with custard was perhaps one of the best I have ever tasted. Please sure you save some for me next time we call in. Well done to our hosts Caroline & Dave - off to a great start!

As a local regular who visits at least once a week and have a meal. As usual the food was good and the female waitress was excellent, drink handed to us as we arrived. After the meal we were just relaxing and finishing off our bottle of wine when we were asked to move from our table so that they could get it ready for six. Did move but were not happy and by the time we had finished and ready to go the table had still not been filled. If this is how you treat your regulars then good luck to you will not be eating in here for some time.

Good portions , well cook , lovely staff.parking available. Inside like old fashion type pub, resteraunt. Low ceiling beams

A large choice on the menu. Recommend choosing the curry. Loaf tin Yorkshire Puddings a bit stodgy and not too much flavour. Lasagne looked good, but cheese a bit strong. Very friendly welcome and a safe bet.

Lovely, friendly pub. Perfect pint and the carvery was delicious. Erkan, Richard and Emma were brilliant with our youngest, keeping him entertained and buying him sweets from the machine. The food was delicious, served by two lovely friendly chefs.

On Saturday i came for a meal with my friends and was greeted by a lovely young lady who had outstanding manners. The young polite girl called Lily served us our food with such a happy manner and we thought she definitely deserved to be mentioned. Not to mention the food was absolutely gorgeous and presented exceptionally.

Just had a works night out at the Londesborough, what can I say it was fantastic.

On walking in the staff were welcoming, friendly and polite. Lots of food on the special board to pick from as Well as lots on the day to day menu. We were spoilt for choice. We went for sausage and mash, Yorkshire pudding with sausage and mash, Yorkshire pudding with roast beef and chips and a chicken kabab. All was perfectly cooked and was definitely was value for money. We had also shared starters and 2 of us found a little space for a pudding. We love this place and next time we are in the area we will be visiting again. I highly recommend eating here.

From start to finish this was a fabulous evening out. Booked a table and it was ready when we arrived. We're made to feel very welcome by staff. There was am extensive menu with lots of specials. We all enjoyed our meals, especially the lamb kebabs and the vegetarian lasagne . Would recommend to anyone.

We visited here for Sunday lunch at the back end of the summer. It was around £7.50 each I think and the meat and accompanying vegetables were fantastic. From the three times we have visited here all the staff are very friendly also. Might be worth booking on a Sunday as it got busy quite quickly from 1 to 1:30 onwards

You just know you made the right choice within seconds of meeting Erkan , mine host who is first name terms as we take a seat . Erkan explains the choices, but gets diverted when I ask and confirm his Turkish background. I had seen Kebabs on the website , and my wife fancied something small and simple. Well, yes and no !

The londsborough arms is a very nice clean and tidy pub they serve meals or if you just want a drink you can the staff are very polite and efficient and helpful I give it 5 stars.

Stayed in Scarborough most of the summer on a seasonal pitch in our caravan. We have kept passing here quite a few times but last week decided to give it a try. We went late afternoon so we were ableft to try the Classic menu and decided on roast beef in a Yorkshire pudding. The beef was so tasty and tender and the pudding lovely and crispy accompanied with fresh vegetables all for £6 which was really excellent value. We shall certainly return and thank you for a lovely meal

We had another great meal here. Food was excellent and good value. Staff as always were very helpful and friendly.

Booked a table for 6pm and on arrival was shown to our reserved table. I have to say the young ladies running the bar and restaurant do an outstanding job,run off their feet with a packed premises but still found a smile for the cutomers. Well done ladies I hope your well rewarded.

We were a family with a dog wanting nice food and were not disappointed. We sat outside as it was a nice day and because we had our dog we initially intended on just having a drink and a sit down. But upon reading the menu and finding out dogs were welcome inside we decided upon eating here.

Great food, good prices and the barman is a really pleasant, helpful guy. Try the treacle sponge and custard it is soooooo good.

I visited with my family and TT he pub was very busy the barman was extremely helpful and asked a couple to move to a smaller table to accommodate us. Great food excellent value for money very speedy service we will definitely return.

Staying in Cayton Bay we ate here twice during our week. First time we had spent a day in York and after catching the train back into Seamer wanted somewhere close. We were not disappointed ! Great menu with plenty of choice and some different dishes to run of the mill menus and the staff were very friendly and helpful swapping mash for chips etc on orders with no problem. Food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. We were that impressed that we took friends back for our final night of the holiday. It was a Friday and very very busy, but again the food and service were great. It was so good I have already recommended to my parents who are travelling in that direction next month. Thank you Londesborough Arms for 2 excellent meals and outstanding service.

If you haven't been there yet then you've missed a lot of Mr. Erken hospitality and Chef Vispi delicious cooking. Everything is perfect. Feels like home. Recommended pudding is "all of them"!

Lovely meal, nicely presented, Excellent portion sizes. Have had the Sunday carvery and the midweek menu. Both very tasty.

We booked this hotel by mistake as we meant to book another hotel further up the road.

The Londesborough offers a good range of freshly cooked, nicely presented and tasty meals. I would particular recommend their Sunday lunch. Staff are friendly and surroundings are clean and comfortable.

Never been let down yet by any meal here. Plenty of meat and great vegetables. Excellent value and very good service by staff

We had a beautiful meal, 2 different curries and both were lovely, served with chips, rice and naan bread. The service was fab, too.

After being recommended we visit seamer we took the plunge and haven't been disappointed.

Very friendly and welcoming staff for us and our dogs. Lovely veggie and vegan menu choices. Beautiful food. So enjoyable...went a few times during are holidays.

When this pub restaurant first opened it was a good experience friendly staff reasonable price and relatively clean. On the last 2 visits I have found myself in disappointment mucky glasses mucky tables mucky windowsills. The regular girl server is always pleasant and the pricing still okay. But the food is decreasing in quality. I ordered a topside Yorkshire pudding with just gravy, veg and chips. I was very disappointed for my veg to not even look fresh or taste fresh the carrots were raw I asked if I could have fresh no problem carrots came still raw and the broccoli looked like it had been on the carvery earlier old stock. Such shame.

My wife and I attended the Londesborough Arms for lunch on Sunday, and found the meal very good. The meat portions were generous and good quality; the selection of potatoes and vegetables was very good; the staff were very welcoming.

We visited with our 9 month old little girl and two friends for Sunday lunch. The owner found us a table with plenty of room for our baby and kindly brought us a highchair for the table. The Sunday lunch was delicious, looking forward to our next visit.

Yet another fab Sunday roast! All the meat is delicious as are the many vegetables! The staff are friendly especially the boss who can’t do too much to help! Will be back again soon!

My husband and l love this restaurant .The food is excellent and extremely good value for money.The staff and the owner Erkan are always very very welcoming .The premises are spotlessly clean.We would definitely recommend you visit,you will not regret it .

Called in here for Sunsay lunch on our way home from a shopping trip in Scarborough. We were aware that it was under new ownership, and didn't know what to expect. The carvery was absolutely lovely - the veg all cooked to perfection, the meat very tasty with all the right accompaniments. The only criticism that we had was £1.50 for a shot of lime cordial - really - half a pint of lime and lemonade was £3.40, just 10pence less than the pint of lager ?

Visited The Londesborough Arms tonight and on various occasions for food and never been disappointed. The owner and staff are helpful and attentive and always offer a warm welcome. The menu food delicious and plentiful. Decent sized portions with a good amount of choice, even for us veggies! Our 'go to' place for sensibly priced, delicious pub food.

We had my daughter's 18th birthday party here on Saturday 7th April. The buffet provided was fantastic and everyone complimented on how good it was I would highly recommend this establishment for any type of event such as birthdays etc . The staff involved on this evening went above and beyond to make the evening an experience worth remembering. In general food was excellent and the service was outstanding

3 of stayed in seamer and visited pub 3 times have been before and we have always found food and staff excellent we have written previous reviews and have always came to the same opinion you must give it a try

42 people to cater for in one go and in my opinion, it was all handled excellently! Many thanks to the chefs and the waitresses for coping so well and for all of your your patience.

First time I have been here for a few years and was pleasantly surprised, my food was excellent, I had the farmhouse chicken and it was beautiful, very tasty and moist. Will definitely be back with my family next time. A very enjoyable evening with my friends thank you.

We used the Londesborough numerous times over the last week and was really impressed, the food was incredible, every meal came out on every occasion cooked to perfection, I can certainly recommend the Turkish Kebabs the flavours were fantastic.

Good value meals and fair choice menu . Very friendly staff and quick service but it was early evening . Back ground music could have been a bit quieter . Will go back again .

Couldn’t get in at a nearby restaurant, but this proved to be an excellent substitute. Good food at excellent prices served by friendly staff in pleasant surroundings

Another great meal and with fantastic service! The minced lamb koftees in tomato were brilliant. Everyone in our group had a great meal. No room for pudding though! Will be back again soon!

Today I was invited to the carvery in a group of 12. It was first class. A choice of four meats; I had pulled pork and gammon both of which were delicious and well-cooked. There was a wide selection of veg, Yorkshire puds, stuffing balls and a choice of gravy. Lovely hot plates and food. There were lots of empty plates and we all enjoyed our meals.

Had a meal here on a Saturday evening. The food was delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection and the chips tasty! Chilli burger was excellent, very juicy and meaty like a home made burger, not cheap versions you some times get and pay more for I might add! Absolutely amazing large proper onion rings, not soggy frozen ones! Really delighted by what we got, we were amazed at the quality and service of the food, as like I have said, we have paid a lot more and been very disappointed. The pub is beautifully presented clean with a large open fire in "the back room". There was some live music setting up and my only regret was we weren't staying overnight so we had to leave, as the atmosphere was relaxed. We had desserts which were gorgeous that polished off the meal. Gorgeous baked cheese cake which was really scrummy! A great pub and great food.

we tried this place for food for the first time having just moved to the area from Scarborough we were not disappointed we had the curry although we had quite a wait we didn’t mind this as we knew it was home made, we then returned for Sunday carvery the week after and again didn’t disappoint

Ate here just by chance, but had a lovely meal. So nice we came back on the Sunday for their carvery.

Treated my in laws to a evening meal. The food was exceptional with all four of us choosing a steak for our mains.

Not been for a while as didnt particularly like much on menu but this seemed a different menu. Service first class and staff very friendly and helpful. Had steak pie which was tender and very tasty and very cheap. Husband had the fillet steak on special board. Extremely good 10 oz steak cooked to perfection and very cheap. My new favourite place to go. Well done

We booked for the pub’s Sunday carvery. It was a bitterly cold day but our welcome was warm. The food was a cut way above - beef, turkey or slow cooked pork in decent helpings, with gorgeous creamy mash, roast potatoes, sprouts, peas, carrots, cabbage, broccoli cheese, stuffing balls and home made Yorkshire puddings, plus - and this means a lot to a man who prides himself on his own efforts - proper gravy.

Popped in on a wet Saturday afternoon and had a great meal. Good choice on the menu at very reasonable prices! Staff are always friendly and helpful.

Visited the Londesborough Arms many times. Always warm and welcoming. A clean and pleasant, well run pub. They do a great carvery on Sunday and the rest of the menu is good too. Service is good and some great bands play there at the weekend. Hand pulled beer is well kept. Staff are great.

Stopped for an unplanned lunch and very glad we did excellent service as usual staff more than accommodating very friendly nice warm atmosphere the food was piping hot very tasty and I have to say well worth every penny think we may have to return for another unplanned lunch very soon

we go for the carvery most Sundays my wife and myself, but got there this Sunday 14/1/18 at twenty to four only to find the carvery was all closed although its supposed to end at 4.00, when I questioned a staff member about this I was told it as been a quite day so ended it early !!!! this is not on ( we had traveled from Beverley) so we had no choice but to go to the Mayfield a few hundred yard down the road and to be quite honest was just as good so you might have lost a loyal customer get your act together lads

Bar staff/manager very happy on our arrival. We didn’t book and 10 mins later wouldn’t of got a table!! Guessing that’s down to the quality of the food been served. Couldn’t fault food service and drinks.

We recently visited The Londesborough and experienced another great lunch. The food is pub grub, it was tasty with healthy portions and good value for money. The staff are polite and professional and the pub itself has a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend you give The Londesborough a try.

Second visit here for the Sunday carvery. It was good the first time and excellent today. The beef was delicious as were the roast potatoes. Everything else was tasty and the staff were great. The place was packed out during both our visits which proves how popular it has become.

went for the firms xmas dinner very bad service from a rude girl veg came first 5mins later potatoes came still no dinner or plates than came dinner not good poor vegiterian who was only having veg waited ages came to dessert which was pre ordered over a month ago sorry we have none left WHAT asked what do we want in a very rude manner not happy at all

Came in this afternoon for a nice hearty lunch after a long week at work Erkan and the team were so inviting and helpful the food was to die for and I would happily recommend this place to any one who is looking for a good pint and a hearty lunch

After time spent shopping a must place to visit. Amazing choice for all dietary needs nothing too much trouble for the staff. Great value and such a lovely atmosphere for this time of year. The Carvery was my choice amazing Yorkshire puddings succulent meat and vast array of vegetables I was very satisfied. My eye caught sight of some lovely puddings going to another table but was too full to indulge but I will be back soon to sample other food on the menu and a desert or two totally recommend a must place to visit you won't be disappointed

We have yet again had an outstanding visit to the Londesborough Arms where we had the Christmas fayre menu the food was fabulous the staff amazing special thanks to Emma and lily who served us our food. And also a great credit to Erkan Balon the landlord and to his hard working team in the kitchen

Last minute decision to go out for Sunday tea. We had the loaf tin Yorkshire puddings with roast beef and son had a cheeseburger. All meals were lovely and good service

A really friendly local with great food. A particular mention for Emma and Erkan. Excellent choice of beer and good veggie and fish choices. Particularly child friendly.

Me and my girlfriend came here for Sunday lunch. It was fantastic, the service was brilliant and the landlord Erkan made us feel extremely welcome from the word go.We had our lunch and because of how nice Erkan was decided to stay and have a few drinks- which by the way are extremely reasonable priced.Food amazing, drinks amazing, but the best of all was the service we had from Erkan.I would recommend anyone to go we will definitely be coming back, would be great for families to visit as well.

We eat regularly at The Londesborough and the food, service and atmosphere is always great, however, it was a shame tonight as there was a large Christmas Party in who spoilt the festive spirit as they were quite rowdy, and upset at least two members of staff that I could see by their rudeness. They'd obviously had too much to drink and I observed one lady leaving the bar area obviously chuffed with herself for receiving a complimentary drink, and then returning to the table laughing and telling all the table about this. There is always some people that will complain about something to try obtain goods for free! Well done to all staff over this busy period for providing great food and service in such a busy time.

Had a fabulous family meal chose from the Xmas menu there was a great choice each of us chose different and were all very happy with our choices the pub looked very festive warm and inviting the atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly and very attentive to our needs will be popping back again very soon

Ate here with a friend last night. She had told me about her love of their filled Yorkshire Puddings and how much she loved them. So last night we popped in after work and ordered 2 with steak and ale filling. Came with chips or mash and mixed veg The pudding is a loaf tin in size and was very good. Crispy top and wonderful softness throughout Steak in ale was plentiful and in rich ale gravy Veg was fresh Very lovely and extremely filling. I managed two thirds before being full. However my experienced friend polished the lot and cleaned the plate Service was friendly and the welcome warm Good bar - well stocked I can see this being a regular dining event Full menu available with good choice for all tastes

Since its refit this is my favourite pub in Seamer. It's a cozy atmosphere and serves great food and drink. It's meal in a loaf Tim Yorkshire puddings are worth a visit on their own.

We stayed at a caravan park situated close by and decided to have a walk and an evening meal.The barman was very pleasant as was the young waitress.We ordered our meal and waited about 10 minutes for it to arrive and was very pleased with it. Fresh and piping hot served on hot plates. I must say it was one of the best meals I have eaten out in a long time. Prices very reasonable.The place was very clean and welcoming and wouldn’t hesitate to go again if ever in the area.Well done

After a long drive back to scarborough we decided to stop off for Sunday lunch at the londesborough seamer, we received a warm welcome and even though the dining area was very busy we found a lovely corner in the rear bar next to a beautiful open log fire which was just what we needed considering how cold it was outside. We ordered the carvery and I can only say it was perfect, the staff were attentive and we were made to feel welcome. It’s a winner hands down! Will definitely return!

Meeting family for lunch early in the week, we were served by the one member of staff who was on duty but who nevertheless was friendly and efficient and quickly brought drinks and took our food order.The loaf tin Yorkshire puddings are brilliant value and very good, my beef was tender and had a rich gravy and excellent vegetables to compliment. Everyone’s meals were served fresh and hot and appeared to be prepared to order. Inexpensive for a table of seven, the dining area is dog friendly if you’re so inclined... there were several other tables dining and all seemed pleased with their meals.The only thing I’d change would be to switch off the damn tv’s playing YouTube excerpts, they were distracting and very irritating! Otherwise, a really good pub lunch experience.

Brilliant wedding reception yesterday. Nothing too much trouble for londesborough team. Would highly recommend to anyone. Buffet delicious thank you to all at the londesborough

I phoned an hour before our planned visit to book a table to be told no need to book. Turn up to a full restaurant with what looks like a wedding party. Do wedding parties usually turn up unexpectedly?! Therefore have to sit at a high bar table on stools, not ideal but take it. Having never sat there before do not realise it is next to a main door with people constantly coming and going and smoking in the door way. Have to ask waiter to get people smoking to move when our main courses arrive. Food was good, but would have rather the restaurant had been honest and say we are full tonight. We would have come back on a quieter night. We now probably won't choose to visit again.

We stopped by on the off chance when on holiday in the area.Even the carvery was past it’s scheduled finish time, the staff were more than happy to serve us.The food was superb and it was a busy family pub. The carvery was excellent value for money and highly recommended.Would definitely visit here again if we are ever down here on holiday

Just had a fantastic lunch/dinner, chose the famous Yorkshire pudding, I had the pulled pork and the other half had the beef, what a plate full, and very tasty. The rest of the fare looked great . Also the accommodation looks very good and well priced, looking forward to trying the B&B later this year.

Visited recently for midweek lunch and this was thoroughly enjoyed by the four of us. Three steak and ale pies and one fish and chips, very tasty, healthy portions and well presented, clean plates all round!! Staff are warm, professional and polite, the food excellent value for money. We called in for Saturday lunch. Food was varied and reasonably priced, and well presented. Staff friendly. Couldn't believe how quiet it was, there were only 4 other people in. Give it a try!

Went for a meal at the Londesborough Arms whilst on holiday. Wonderful. From the minute we entered we felt welcome. Had not booked a table but that was no problem. Whilst ordering the drinks the waitress found and dressed a table within a minute. I chose the Kebab and the wife had the Lasagne both came with either fries or chips and a lovely fresh salad. Really good portions well presented and very very tasty. No room for deserts and very good value for money. Would recommend if in the area.

Booked a table in the pub for Sunday dinner after a weekend in Scarborough.Carvery was very good value for money! Given lots of meat and could have a mix of what you wanted.Not too much selection with veg but okay for the price.The Brussels were hard!!!! Only disappointment.Would definitely recommend booking as it appeared to get quite busy. Booking was easy - we just called up on the morning! Thank you for a delicious Sunday dinner - just what we needed.

Normally really nice although this time there was no mash and no carrots you can't have a carvery without mash and carrots.. there was also no cutlery on the table and I thought the Pepsi was abit over priced 2.40 for a glass wasnt even abit priced felt let down this Sunday

I can't fault this pub, popped in for dinner with 3 other people and we all had the Yorkshire pudding and beef and it was absolutely gorgeous, great taste, great service and great price, I will definitely call again when I'm in the area, quite possibly make the 70 mile journey just to eat there again it was that good

We have visited the Londesborough many times to enjoy a pint in the beer garden on a walk but this was the first time we have eaten there and we were not disappointed. This is a welcoming watering hole where you are always met with a smile by the excellent staff and you are never kept waiting regardless of how busy it is. The menu is wide and varied and much as you would expect from pub grub , nothing fancy but all the usual Traditional British favourites with a few Turkish and Asian specials thrown in by the host. We were in for a quick bite so went for a Black Bull Burger and a Chicken Parmo both of which were nicely cooked and very tasty. Washed down by an excellent pint of Pravha for me and a Jackrabbit Zinfandel for the Missus which was also good I am told , the prices have gone up a bit from our last visit , but all in all the Londesborough is still good value and a cracking boozer. We will return !.

Have been here a few times and usually it's very good but this time u had the chicken kebab which I have had before and it was lovely . But this time it was tasteless in fact it was very charred and tasted burnt . Also it is billed as coming with rice and chips but on this occasion came without rice although my partner had the lamb kebab and he got rice with his . I didn't complain as we 're a party of 5 and I didn't want to seem petty but unfortunately I can only give it a score of 3 as I was disappointed in my meal this time . I will return as previously I have enjoyed my meal there so hope that this time was only a blip

Been here a few times now, always get a great welcome from Erkan. The food is well cooked and service is great. Will keep coming back for more.

Always very welcoming and excellent service. Erkan, Zara, Emma and Liz are all terrific. The food is very good value and the beer great. One tiny criticism would be a slightly limited wine menu.

Couldn't recommend this pub any higher from the moment you walk through the door to the friendly staff and owner who make your visit a good one!! The food is lovely and cater for all needs!! I visited here for the first time approximately over a year ago and I found the service and food so amazing that it has now become a regular place of mine to eat should I decide to eat out. The food is always cooked to perfection and the service is by far the best around. Such friendly staff including the owner who is around a lot getting to know the customers! I used to go somewhere else nearby and found the service appalling so to come to Londesborough was a delight! Always welcomed,always looked after......I promise you will not be disappointed if you go here

We have visited this establishment many times and each time we go we can pick no faults with the food, customer service and the atmosphere .. the food is always cooked quickly and perfectly and good sized portions! The staff are always on the ball and welcoming upon arrival and throughout our visit, the specials are always fantastic and well worth a try!! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic village pub setting with great food and service!!
