Booked as a last-minute stay, the room was really clean, comfy bed, lovely home feeling to the pub, Breakfast was amazing, tasty plentiful snd the service was fantastic. Great Hosts. Will ll be back.

Only went to this spot as jooly sailer down the road looked very busy. Foods very overated and over priced, pie & veg was precooked & warmed up in the microwave, which took ages to cool down, the pastry on the pie was rock hard& they charged me £4,50 p for a pint of orange juice. Definitely not worth the money spent.

What a lovely find! Rang and booked 15 minutes before arriving to find the table set out for my partner and I and highchair for our 9 month old all set up. It's the first time we have been somewhere that has catered so well for our little girl with plastic plate, cup and cutlery. We ordered the fishcake and pate starters which was a generous portion and delicious, compliments to the chef. We didn't feel rushed, had plenty of time to relax and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and what a comfortable setting which is what we always look for when dining with a child so young. The mains were equally delicious, generous portions and the staff so attentive to anything we may require. Would highly recommend to someone wanted a relaxed date night with a young child third wheeling. Thank you 😊

We haven’t eaten here for quite a while, then twice within a week. The chef is doing a sterling job - the belly pork was perfect, the vegetable selection ideal and cooked beautifully. Sticky toffee pudding enormous!. We will be back.

Went for a meal today. Very disappointed. Food not hot and distinctly average. Desert really poor. Service poor. Price high. Will not visit again and I live locally.

So ok rang at last minute on the Sunday morn for lunch.Was told ok, but not in main area/restaurant (fair enough) We were put in the back at a tiny round table next to an open door leading to beer garden.We were absolutely frozen,I had to eat with my coat on,hence the food got cold very quickly.We did not enjoy the meal because of the cramped cold space we were put in,yet we were paying exactly the same as all the other diners!Got the impression that they just tried to get as many in as they could.Totally put us off! Yet we have eaten here before on a Sunday lunchtime and been really impressed. Our fault for not booking early enough? or theirs for cramming people in?

Came in aftwr a long walk up the Cinder Track nice tea nice coffee but we were told to move mid drink due to the table we sat on being reserved despite no reservation sign being visable this in turn made us feel embarrassed and very uncomfortable We will not be coming here again in the future the food also seemed quite expensive so kind of glad we didn't eat here.

We had a really lovely stay here last weekend. The bedroom, and En Suite were spotlessly clean. We had a meal in the evening which was cooked to perfection and we both had a full breakfast on our 1st day, and then an Eggs Benedict, and different choices on our 2nd day, all cooked beautifully too. Lovely, friendly host who made us feel so welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend this and, it was superb value for money as well.

The food was delicious. We couldn’t fault it. The accommodation was cosy, but well laid out and very comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Plenty of parking on site. Definitely the best place we’ve stayed, during our drive around Yorkshire. We’d definitely stay here again.

Our visit to "The Oak Wheel" proved to be a deeply unsatisfactory experience, meriting a mere 1/5 star rating. Regrettably, we cannot endorse this establishment, even for families seeking a dining venue. One glaring issue that we encountered was the limited menu selection, which left much to be desired. Additionally, the overall ambiance and olfactory atmosphere within the restaurant were far from pleasant. These initial impressions set the tone for our dining experience. Although we were promptly served our beverages upon arrival, this was a rare positive aspect. We opted for a promotional burger offer, which promised a complimentary drink to accompany it. However, the staff overlooked providing us with our beverages, and we were forced to inquire, a process that took an inordinate amount of time. Unfortunately, our attempts to gain their attention with polite requests were met with indifference, a disconcerting display of customer service. Regarding the menu itself, its lack of variety and substance was conspicuous. Comprising only two pages, predominantly featuring similar items, it offered little to excite our culinary preferences. Furthermore, the presentation of the burger we ordered was subpar, failing to meet even basic visual standards of appeal. The culinary journey at "The Oak Wheel" left much to be desired. To compound our disappointment, we found the conduct of the staff to be markedly impolite, further tarnishing our dining experience. In light of these grievances, we cannot, in good conscience, recommend "The Oak Wheel" as a dining destination of choice.

I had the chicken meal one night and the second night had the chicken burger meal. Both excellent. My partner had the beef pie one night and the scampi the next. Again both excellent. Good service with friendly staff. I wish we had tried it at the start of our holiday in Burniston as there were other things on the menu that we would have liked to try.

Nice looking pub from outside where do I start we arrived at 6 o'clock on Saturday night left Sunday morning sound like they were doing a favor price was 150 pounds one night no breakfast room wasn't very clean bathroom wasn't the cleanest also could do with a coat of paint also people trying the door in the bathroom from the room next door was locked but felt like they were coming in all the time would not recommend this so anybody didn't have food nice beer in the bar but at 15 pounds for burger and a cup of chips very expensive what last thing I understand it was bank holiday what's a rip people off very poor

Disappointing. Menu sounded good, but food was below average. Limp and tasteless baked potato with cheap flavourless cheddar. Husband said his burger was plastic an£ tasteless. Good chips and service.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meals, tasty and satisfying. We dropped in on the off chance with our granddaughter for an evening meal. Belly pork was a real treat, the nicest i have ever had.

Starting with the positives... The pub is clean and is well presented. The table staff are polite and attentive. However... I ordered a beef burger and was bitterly disappointed. It had absolutely no texture. It was not minced steak. Its consistency was that of uniform rubber. Clearly it had been made from the pulverised remains of the butcher's table. After a couple of bites I simply couldn't eat any more and left it . When asked "how was the meal?" I thought I'd be honest - only to be met with total disbelief. Hey ho.

Myself and my Son stayed here on Monday 14th Aug, couldn't fault the place, the Rooms were spacious and clean with all the usual accessories ie Kettle Hairdryer etc, the Bar/Dining area was a lovely room/s with an outdoor area with table and chairs, the Staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble, I have to mention the Breakfast as I can honestly say it was the best I have had anywhere,you are giving a choice of basically anything you want on the menu, my table was full with Juice a Pot of Tea rack of Toast an Jam/Marmalade along with a beautiful full English, the only pointer I would add is I thought the time scale for Breakfast was a bit short as it was 8.30 am till 10 am, my Son missed the Breakfast but the Lady went out of her way to make him a Bacon Sandwich and a Coffee to takeaway, I can not fault this place and would not hesitate to stay here again hopefully for a bit longer.

Absolutely fantastic food and atmosphere couldn’t ask for more my stake was cooked to protection all meals of a high standard would 100 percent recommended to family and friends so welcoming and lovely!!!!

I have got to say this place is fantastic. I stayed here for 2 nights. The reason for stay was a wedding I was attending up the road. There was 27 of us that ate here and all the food arrived in good time really hot. I had the fish and chips in beer batter and proper home cooked chips.I can fault the food one bit excellent. The next day arrived and I had a quick pint before I ventured up to the venue I was going to but the heavens opened so I waited for it to die down which it never so the bar staff was trying to get me a taxi to no avail. But the landlady organised one of her staff to chauffeur me up to the event. I was blown over how generous they all were. Massive kudos to all staff. Sorry for long post and story haha

One night stay. Would stay again, highly recommend. Friendly, welcoming staff. Nice room and quiet even though it was facing the main room. Food menu great, good selection of “pub grub” - something for everyone, I would think. Excellent, tasty dinner with fresh vegetables, with friends who were staying at campsite just a mile away. Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked.

Definitely our favourite in Scarborough for Sunday lunch. We enjoyed a delicious tender roast beef with selection of veg and very nice Yorkshire pud, followed by a lemon meringue dessert. Service was very friendly and quick and efficient. A team of young girls did an excellent job. Prices are reasonable and quality is excellent, we shall certainly return soon.

Met a friend for a meal, we were shown to our table. We were sat about 10 mins before we were given a menu. About another 10 mins before we were asked what we wanted to drink. We were told not to go to the bar because of restrictions. Didn’t seem many waitresses about. It was another 10 mins before someone else came to see if we had ordered our drinks. I was about ready to walk out at this time. The drinks arrived and we ordered food. I ordered chicken breast. This took about 40 mins to arrive. The chicken was very dry and not much sauce on, the veg were slightly overdone, but the chips were handmade and good. No one came to check on us, to see if everything was ok. Don’t think I will be rushing back anytime soon.

Great evening at The Oak Wheel pub with family. Currently enjoying a week in Scarborough and my parents are staying at The Oak Wheel. The bar staff and chef were very welcoming also and the pub has a lovely, warm and homely feel. Especially with the open log fire which was well tendered and burning brightly!The food was all homemade and was absolutely beautiful! I cannot fault it. We all thought the food was excellent and we are probably going to eat here tomorrow evening too!My parents also inform me that the rooms are lovely, clean and cosy. Called for an early evening meal and found the staff very helpful. The menu had several choices suitable for our party, quite an achievement given our picky my father is! The main courses were good quality but not that big you didn't have room for a sweet. Seemed quite busy given we called early evening.

Room seemed clean but bathroom very out dated the shower was a joke never worth the money charged. Had travelled from Cornwall for a funeral asked if we could keep the room till 11.30 as funeral wasn’t till 12.30 and told no only till 11 and charged £15 even though the cleaner had not even reached our room when we left. Stayed here for one night. Booked king room which was on the back of the pub overlooking the garden. We could hear an extractor fan from the kitchen below but thankfully it got switched off late in the evening. Lovely large clean bedroom and bathroom with good shower. We had a lovely meal on the evening and the Roulade was to die for. Also had a beautiful cooked breakfast before we left.the pub had great friendly staff who couldn’t do enough.
