We stayed nearby and ate here on the Friday night, cute place and tasty lasagne and meat pie! The next night we got takeout pizzas from there.. they were incredible.

Only called in to book a Xmas meal for my wife's dancing group(s). The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They also serve a good pint of Timothy Taylors too . We have eaten here before and are looking forward to another good meal.

Went for Sunday Lunch went big for £15.95 excellent value. Atmosphere was great as we're the staff .I would highly recommend it.

We came here last night for a meal and was one of the best home cooked meals I ever had. The staff were so lovely and we even got to play some darts before our food came!

We called in on the off chance of a roast dinner. It was 2 30 pm, and the staff went out of their way to find us a table for 4 people and our dog . The roast dinners we had were excellent. Lots of meat, veg, and two huge Yorkshire puddings . One of my group wanted scampi, and he wasn't disappointed . The portion size was large . One that any hungry person would have trouble eating. Another good thing is that the quality of food was excellent . I would recommend anyone visit if they were in the area.

We drive past this pub all the time so thought we would drop in and have a meal. I rang booked a table and it was a good job I did, it was super busy, this was a Saturday evening at 7pm. There are a few tiny rooms with tables in it and our was in the room that is dog friendly which we quite liked. Our order was taken at the table by a lovely waitress who then also brought our drinks. The menu was great all the usual pub classics and they also have an OAP menu that I was able to order from as I have a small appetite. We ordered a beef lasagne from the OAP menu and a hunters chicken from the usual menu. There was a bit of a wait for the food but they were busy and we knew it was being cooked freshly and wasn't being microwaved! The food was delicious and the portions were big, even on the OAP size meal, we certainly couldn't eat it all. We paid the bill at the bar and was really pleasantly surprised that for 2 meals with 2 pints of coke we paid only £25. We can't wait to go back 😁

The food was absolutely brilliant and great value, the sirloin steak was stunning, just like cutting through butter, the chips, peppercorn sauce, mushrooms and onion rings were great. We also had the surf and turf, steak pie and sausage and mash. The staff were extremely polite and attentive throughout the meal. The puddings were brilliant 👏 especially the lemon tart and the syrup sponge pudding with custard took me right back so school dinners and the portions aren't tiny. Great service, friendly staff, brilliant food and at a decent price we would definitely visit again... oh and we chose the dog friendly part of the restaurant so our fur babies could tag along..

It was the first time we had been to The Forge, a pub with atmosphere. A friendly welcome from the bar staff. We had Sunday lunch and had the carvery. A nice aspect was the varied size as well as a choice of meat on the carvery there were other choices. The food was excellent, hot & with vegetables served separately as well as gravy. The main course was sufficient so didn't try dessert. All reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.

Very busy for lunch, which for me was an excellent lamb shank. I don’t think it could be improved upon.

This is the second time we’ve been to this fantastic Inn. The food is amazing, the staff are all lovely, warm and welcoming. We have our German Shepherd Elsa who has been welcomed with open arms. We love it here as does Elsa. Thank you everyone for making our visit to you very special. We will definitely see you before we go home.

Coming from Birmingham, I really shouldn't order curry on my travels, but the staff were happy to replace it with a very acceptable fish and chips. The seating areas are far greater than is first obvious, but a lot are reserved, so book ahead if possible.

A brilliant pub lunch with friendly service. This is a proper local and hence shared with real people and that is what makes the atmosphere so good. Although on holiday it was just like being in the local at home and the banter was as good. By the way the portions are enormous!

Found this place near where we were staying , eaten here twice.good home cooked food with smaller portions available for older customers. Pizza chef busy with his creations and boy they were good Sunday lunch next and didn't disappoint nicely presented with fresh vegs served separately , choice of meats and size of portions Pleasant helpful staff. Good food car parking what's nor to like Booking reccomended

Sat in the beer garden, it's been refurbished since I was last here, really nice job done. Secluded and quiet.

Called on a Saturday to book for Sunday and was told “we’re fully booked but come down anyway because we can usually fit more in.” Walked halfway across the village with a baby only to be told by some kid surrounded by dozens of empty tables that they couldn’t fit us in.

Pre booked a table of 24 and pre ordered food booked parking is a private car park we were all sat together and the food arrived one after the other so we were all eating at the same time all hot and was really tasty and good portions and everyone had the correct order Inc desserts staff were amazing and place was really clean and had a nice atmosphere reasonably priced aswell great place and highly recommend 5*

Having not been for a few years, we were pleasantly surprised that it was even better than we remembered! The menu choice is outstanding; we only ate here twice but there was plenty more on the menu which we would've had.. Just a pity we had to come home to Suffolk! Food excellent, service excellent, pub clean and fresh. See you next year!

El camarero joven era extremadamente servicial y mi marido bromeó diciendo que se parecía a Ronaldo, que le pareció bastante divertido! Sin duda volvería a visitar si estuviéramos en la zona. What a place this is. The most friendly and efficient dine-in pub I've been to in ages. Going to eat here again in a couple of days, can't wait.

The only thing as a negative was that we had to sit in the bar area as the football was being screened in the dining part of the Inn, not comfortable on little stools for eating dinner, otherwise all good, thank you.

Lovely food, pleasant,friendly staff. Good value for money. We had 2 quarter pounder cheese burgers, loved the quality of the burger, nice relish and salad. Liked that the soft white bap was not toasted. Deserts were lovely as well. Lemon tart and apple pie. Second time we have been and will not be our last.

Wow, what a great place this is. My wife and I are staying nearby for a couple of days and we came across Ye Olde Forge. We popped in for a couple of drinks and some food, and we were not disappointed. It was fairly busy, which is always a good sign. The service was friendly and we were made to feel welcome. The food is reasonably priced but is very very good value for money. I had the lasagne which came with chips (proper chips, by the way!), garlic bread and salad. My wife had curry, and we shared some onion rings which were huge, battered homemade rings, none of this frozen rubbish! If we're ever back in the area we will go back for sure!

A good drop of Timmy Taylors & a surf & turf. The staff are lovely with good service. The parking is ample & across the road from the pub. Well worth a visit.

Chose from the menu not the carvery. My wife had steak and ale pie while I had the curry. Service was prompt. The curry had lots of chicken and was tasty. I chose the Jalfrezi option which can be hot but I would say that mine was medium. I have never seen as much meat in a steak and ale pie as my wife had. It was also tender and tasted lovely. Overall very pleased with the service, and the quality and quantity of the portions

Such a shame as the food was lovely, however we were told there was a 40 minute wait. After one hour I asked if the food was coming to be told it was on its way. 10 mins later 2 meals arrived then waited another 5 mins for the other 2 to come. Totally unacceptable, although the food was lovely we won't be back.

Have stayed on the caravan site opposite for years and never eaten here. The site warden recommended it and said she had eaten almost everything on the menu, do we decided to try it. Booked a table for 6.15 and we were welcomed and seated on arrival. We ordered drinks and food quickly. The staff were lovely. We had the steak pie, rump steak, pensioners gammon( which was huge) and a ham and pineapple pizza. Well. The food was amazing, but unfortunately we couldn't do it justice and it beat us. But it was tasty, well presented and overall great value. Thankyou to the lovely waitress who looked after us. We will definitely be back.

Very nice Sunday lunch. I worth a visit

Excellent meal the sunday lunch and desert, very friendly staff and great inviroment. They were very welcoming to buster the dog even serving him with his own bowl of water. If I have one critic it was that the vegetables were served in one dish for two couples would have been better if my wife and I had our own serving.

Lovely cosy pub. Very friendly staff and regulars. As we had a dog with us, there were only certain areas we could sit which was absolutely fine. Our own fault in that we hadn't booked ahead (it was midweek so we thought we would take a chance) so we had to wait for a table to be free. A lovely couple gave us theirs as they were only in for drinks and they sat at the bar. The food was plentiful and arrived promptly following the order. The pizzas are so tasty and fresh from the stonebake oven. We didn't have room for dessert though which I was a bit gutted about, but maybe next time.

My husband and I ate here last night and the food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Pizzas were fantastic! Would definitely eat here again if in the area.

Called in on the off chance and was fortunate to be found a table on a busy late Saturday afternoon.Proper pub grub done very well.My wife had the Lasagne and I went for the Forge Burger and neither of us could fault our meals.The serving staff were polite and knowledgeable,service was quick on a busy late afternoon,the food was hot,tasty and plentiful,and there was a real buzz and good atmosphere about the place.We were served in a room that was dog friendly,and that's always nice,good to see people and their furry friends being able to go out together.The beer was excellent and the food was very reasonably priced too and with good safe parking a few steps from the front door,I'd have no problem reccomending this lovely old Inn to any weary and hungry travellers.

Had a fabulous meal at the forge, very tasty, ample portions. I had one of the pizzas which was very nice, quite garlicky (so perhaps not for you if you're not a garlic fan), but the flavours complimented each other well and the base was cooked to perfection. Desserts were also delicious, my sweet waffle was incredible. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Despite it being busy (always a good sign) the service was quick and we weren't waiting long until we were tucking into our delicious meal. Although it was busy, the atmosphere was very calm and relaxed. Very dog friendly. One of the most welcoming places I've ever been in, such a warm and friendly environment and clearly a hub of the village, seemed very popular with the locals. Will definitely be returning.

After hearing some great feedback, we decided to try Ye Olde Forge Inn for ourselves. We went for Sunday lunch & thoroughly enjoyed it. We'll be back again very soon & will definitely be recommending this to our friends, family & customers.

We are not local to the area but are staying here for a break. My husband and I and our dog have had Sunday lunch here for the last 2 Sundays. The food was delicious and freshly cooked. The staff made us very welcome as soon as we stepped in, and nothing was too much trouble.

We ordered our Christmas Day meal and we were not disappointed, unbelievable value for money, if being repeated 2024 we are definitely going back. We would certainly recommend Ye Old Forge Valley Inn for a good friendly welcome.

We had a takeaway Christmas Lunch collected on Christmas Eve to reheat on Christmas day. It was brilliant. Everything fresh and cooked to perfection. The deserts were amazing and the finishing touches of mince pies and Christmas crackers was a lovely surprise. Definitely do it again next year as exceptional value. What a lovely Xmas meal. Tasty food, all the trimmings, lovely atmosphere, not rushed. Thank you. This was a return following a most successful meal in 2022 and didn't disappoint.

Christmas dinner was exceptional and the service matched the food quality a great night out. Will be visiting the Forge again soon.

A group of us went for our annual Xmas meal, we were plonked in the long room where there was no other tables set up, no sign of Christmas at all apart from the crackers on our table. No music never mind Christmas music. The food was just ok, the roasts had been left in the deep fat fryer to long and the list could go on. Such a-shame it was so disappointing as we had been looking forward to it for a while.

We had the Christmas meal of turkey and sessional vegetables, the meal was excellent and served piping hot. A real Christmas experience. We are already talking of booking again next year.

Brilliant place food is excellent and the prices are great ,We started going last year at least every two weeks even though we live some 30 miles away,Absolutely love everything about it .

We popped in for some lunch today, the staff were nice and the food was good. I think if they spruced up that back room and made it as cosy as the rest of the pub they would be on to a winner. We would visit again.

Out looking for somewhere to eat and came upon the olde forge by chance. Happy we did. All of us chose the haddock and chips. Duly arrived four huge plates of deliciousness. Home made chunky chips and fish was lovely, crunchy batter. None of us could finish our plates but gave it our best go. Really good service, friendly staff and very decent price. If we're ever back in the area we'll most certainly be dropping by again 😋

Great friendly staff and hearty pub meals

We found this by looking on google as being near to where we are staying and it did not disappoint. Beautiful pub - both inside and out and the food second to none. Both my husband and I had a pie - I had Steak and Ale - the meat was melt in the mouth and filled to the brim - the special Chicken,Bacon and Leek equally delicious. Portion size is large and seeing the other diners who partook of the grill come with a hearty appetite. Staff were lovely and accomodating - would thoroughly recommend. Enjoy x.
