Thank you to the lovely landlord, staff members, chef and locals of this pub. My partner and I had travelled 3 hours today and made it just in time for lunch (which they served us outside as an exception). Lovely friendly pub which we will be sure to visit again next time we're in the area. Thank you for the warm welcome and delicious lentil cottage pie and scampi- fresh and homemade, hearty food. Thanks everyone.

Room, location,staff, dinner,breakfast, car parking 10/10

Our room was spacious and clean; the bed was really comfortable. We treated ourselves to dinner and breakfast, both of which were delicious. Location is perfect too, being within easy reach of Scarborough, Whitby, and the moors. Will stay again.

Lovely pub, lovely food, good portion size. Staff were great. Also HM the Queen once visited, so that's all the recommendation you need!

We stopped for lunch here. The meals were very good value. £10.95 for haddock & chips.

Had a lovely evening in the Blacksmith's Arms. Staff were excellent and food was very good. Took part in the Wednesday quiz, which was raising money for the local playgroup. All of our meals (there were four of us) were great value for money - ranging from Bacon burger to sea bass. There were good vegan options as well. Well worth a visit.

HOSTILE! No beers on tap. No food after 2pm. No decent bar snacks. Only public bar dog friendly. Wrong wifi code printed for customers. Pointed out the code error to older female bartender who neither apologised nor corrected it. Told me I was lucky to have been served as they usually close at 3pm. It was only 2.45pm! We finished our drinks & left - not spending time & money in such a HOSTILE environment!

My wife and I booked for an Evening Meal one Thursday night in January 2025.I gad mushroom soup and forcthe nain course my wife had the grilled goats cheese sald I had the mushroom stroganoff. With 2 glasses of Merlot.Tge food was good,big portions which seems to be standard for this part of Yorkshire. The food was fine,Like the pub it had an 80's vibe.The food was very good but nothing spectacular, a bit like something out of a Mary Berry recipe book.So ir was fine food served with generous portions.

We had a very nice lunch here. The staff were so friendly, food was piping hot and plentiful. . Good ordinary pub food at a fair price. Bar was warm and welcoming - but the staff made it special.

Went for food as stopped in the village. Liked it so much I went back for drinks the next day. Great friendly staff and a proper yorkshire pub (everyone chats to everyone, locals and tourists mix well!)

I am on the fence with reviewing this place. I like the food and the rooms are fine this may be the most decent pub I’ve ever been to, but the last 2 times I’ve been here there was no fish. The customer service is very good but every time I go I’m really relieved to hear that we’re not eating in the main pub. Overall 3/5 stars

Stayed here last weekend for my partners birthday weekend. Checked in Saturday afternoon and had the gorgeous spacious four poster room with lovely view across the fields. Super quiet on the evening too. Booked a table for an evening meal which was superb, all cooked fresh. Breakfast was spot on..all fresh and best produce used. Tony the host and his wife made us feel so welcome throughout our stay as did all the team. We will definitely be visiting again soon for sure. Thankyou Carol & John.

Another fantastic meal here on Saturday evening, very accommodating for a fussy eater we had with us! Very dog friendly which is always a bonus for us and everything cooked to order so worth a slight wait Highly recommend, will be back next time we’re at the coast 😊

Whal, whal, whal. AMAZING PLACE. Stopped for lunch and loved the place, from the minute we walked in , to the minute we walked out. The staff were brilliant, attentive, friendly, well mannered The owner should be proud of his staff. The food was lovely and it was piping hot and generous portions. The place was clean, immaculately decorated and walls are decorated like a typical country pub, even proud to say they hosted the Queen and Prince Philip in 2010. And even now the place is fit for royalty. Whatever you do, don't pass by this pub . It's amazing

We went here to watch the Euro final The food was dome of the best pub food I have had. Great size portions piping hot. Service great and friendly staff definitely would recommend.

Had a very nice meal in here, home made food not the standard pub grub, and they had a very nice bottle of whiskey available too which was a welcome treat. All in all a very nice meal, great service and pleasant early evening meal, definitely recommended.

Stopped off for an evening meal (at 7.40pm on Friday 5 July 2024, noting other pubs stop serving food a lot earlier!) working our way back from Scarborough to Whitby on our holiday in Yorkshire. Lovely country cosy atmosphere pub with friendly staff. After a refreshing Grapefruit gin & lemonade (handpicked by the lady), my wife & I both had the Horseshoe gammon & all the trimmings. Very tasty it was too, and you could tell it was proper hand cooked and not the mass produced type. With our stomachs full, we carried on to our touring caravan campsite in Higher Normanby a lot for the better for a tasty meal.

We always go for food at the Blacksmiths' arms when on holiday, but never again after being charged 60p for tap water..disgraceful...

This is a great example of a traditional style Inn. The village is lovely, the pub is good, and everything is much better maintained and cleaned than most such places. The staff were super friendly and helped us out a lot. There is ample parking, and the road is quiet at night.

An unexpected stay away from our home in the Midlands due to a family emergency. Tony, Debbie & all of the staff (especially Claire) were very kind & supportive which made a difficult time much easier. Starting the day & getting back from daily hospital visits was just what we needed, a nice welcome, excellent food & a good selection of drinks. Thanks very much to you all. We enjoyed the area too, so if we came back we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Just home from a 2 night stay at The Blacksmiths Arms, Cloughton. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were lovely, food very good, cleanliness great. The atmosphere was relaxing. Will be back. Thanks guys.

Didn't stay over but popped in for food after a walk. The food was fantastic, and the service was amazing. Couldn't have done any more for me and the dogs. Absolutely recommend for anyone in the area

I didn't stay for the night, I was there for a family meal. An excellent atmosphere, great Landlord & Landlady. A wonderful Sunday dinner, good portions, fairly priced. Very professional waiting-on staff. All in all a great experience, recommended.

Just stayed for two nights room excellent staff amazing food delicious highly recomend will definitely stay again.

Attempted to make a lunchtime table booking for 4 at end of February. All I got as a response is 'we're open between 12 & 2 via e-mail. That, in our opinion, is not good marketing or customer service. I would suggest avoid.
