Excellent food and service. Dog friendly (very). Although not veggie ourselves we had the veggie specials and they were outstanding with generous portions.

Lovely place for a lunch time meal. We also started with a delicious hot chocolate, were offered topping, but declined as we were eating a meal.i had chilli and rice with garlic bread my friend had scampi chips and garden peas. Decent sized portions freshly cooked. Dog friendly with a dog free area. Happy staff. Clean and well kept.Cutlery and sauces on table.

We happened upon this place by chance, walking down a side street and we weren't disappointed. The place is bigger than you think. It has a great varied menu with a board for specials. The service is simply superb and the food is very tasty. Highly recommend.

We visited here twice during our recent trip to Filey - once for lunch and once for breakfast. The food was very good on both occasions and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was lovely to be able to eat outside in the sunny garden.

We’ve been to Filey a million times and have walked past each time but not today!! Today we stopped and weren’t disappointed. The burger was one of the nicest for a long time while my 2 dining companions weren’t disappointed either. Reasonably priced & the service was decent. I’m guessing it won’t take a million Filey visits to come back.

Came twice in one week, the first time the young man waiting at tables was excellent! The food was amazing too! Went back a second time and the food was a little disappointing to be honest. We ordered four main meals including two kids meals one being cheese on toast. The portion size was huge two slices but very heavy on the cheese giving a rather greasy taste and mouth feel, grated cheese and less of it could possible be better. Quality over quantity. We ordered a prawn sandwich on brown with six prawns in which didn’t impress my daughter with the price, she actually queried why we had returned. We had a beer ( bud) each but sadly after our first excellent experience we left a little downhearted as the quality wasn’t there the second time.

Lovely cafe with friendly staff and great food. Only issue was with accessibility due to having someone in my group with mobility issues as there were steps through the building but bot many.

Visited today for brunch. We were visitors to the area for the weekend. The menu gave lots of options for brunch, the service was great and the food was delicious and good value. Highly recommend.

Wow what a lovely place plenty of room to get a disabled person in. Haven’t rammed loads of tables in which is a pleasant surprise. We had someone who had a gluten & dairy allergy and the lady was so accommodating and made a special sandwich which was absolutely gorgeous. Staff really friendly and helpful. Absolute fantastic place to eat out in Filey. Vegan cheese cake was to die for and the chips were banging.

Fabulous evening at the Egg and Spoon. Lovely food, very well priced and great value for money. Special evening opening, hope its the first of many to come. Staff friendly and efficient and took time to ensure we had a greet night. 5 stars isn't enough for the effort and quality of food here.

A lovely, dog friendly cafe, which is very important to us with our 8 month old puppy, as we need to teach her how to behave while we eat. The food was hot and delicious and even our drinks stayed hot until our food arrived. Thank you.

What a beauty, great food, great staff and good prices. Rachel and Tilly have always made us feel welcome even going so far as to pop out and get honey for me for my tea. Well above the expected, service level expected. They swap ingredients to suit my mood so my meal is just what I want, yes I’m very difficult customer but it’s never a problem. I usually come for breakfast but brought a friend for lunch and received the same great service and no complaints over us being too loud. If I could give gold star ratings it would be 10 at least.

Great service great food lovely friendly staff really good prices and how lovely it was not to have to sit with dogs while we were having our meals (there is seating for owners of dogs both inside and in their lovely garden) big thumbs up definitely will be back especially if make the grandchildren the fabulous milk shakes

Me and my mum went here for breakfast today 4th February at about 10:30am. I have never experienced such appalling customer service in my life. We were greeted with an attitude straight away from what I can only assume to be the head waitress. She was appalling aswell as rude, she spoke down to us as soon as we went through the door as we had a dog, we asked if we were allowed the dog inside and where the tables were. She then made us walk out of the door and made a scene in front of the whole cafe when previously we have able to walk through. We then walked down the side of the building and went into the garden (nobody else was there) a lovely young waitress came out to take our order, we had a lovely conversation with her and she took our order perfectly and with a smile and was very polite. We asked do you want us to pay now and she said "no its ok you can pay after food" THEN the other (older) waitress came stomping out with a face like thunder saying "you need to pay" we said "we offered but the other waitress said we can pay after" AND HER ANSWER TO THAT WAS "WELL SHE WOULDNT UNDERSTAND BECAUSE SHE WAS FROM UKRAINE"!!!!!! We then got up and left absolutely appalled.

This was our first visit, our usual cafe was closed. It will probably not be somewhere we will go again. In all fairness, the cafe is clean and warm, the staff are very pleasant. My husband ordered soup, and I asked for a turkey sandwich sandwich with cranberry sauce. I particularly said that I didn't want the festive lunch special. My coffee arrived and although very nice was a very small cup of latte. Then we waited and waited, eventually our food arrived, soup for my husband but they had brought the festive lunch for me. I said that it should have only been a toasted sandwich, and with apologies, it was taken away. Another long wait, coffee long gone by now. The sandwich eventually arrived, nicely presented but turkey on dry toast, no butter. Whilst I enjoyed it, it was very dry and I could have done with another drink. It was a very expensive lunch, probably a third more than our usual place. Sorry first and last visit.

We had a lovely late lunch at this cafe today. Great menu and specials and all food yummy. The staff were lovely and the interior is very nice too. Highly recommend!

Stumbled across this unassuming little cafe while exploring Filey. Not wanting to miss out, we returned after a beach run a few days later to enjoy the large vegan and small veggie breakfasts. Spot on. Has browns were particularly nice, mushrooms were also excellent. Washed down with oat milk americano, perfect. Staff were very nice and friendly. A great find whilst wondering around Filey. A lovely courtyard that is dog friendly and traps the sunshine. Within minutes of sitting down we were greeted by a very helpful member of staff. Who explained the “Specials” to us. We ordered inside and paid upfront for our lunch. A ham and cheese toasted ciabatta sandwich and a “Special” bacon and Brie toasted Ciabatta. We shared a bowl of chips. Service was prompt. Food looked yummy with coleslaw and salad garnish. A pot of tea and a cold soft drink. Everything was delicious and great value for money. Very friendly and efficient staff. We have struggled on previous visits to Filey to find a decent place to eat. The egg and spoon is a little gem.
