The best restaurants in Scarborough Yorkshire and The Humber

Night away for a mini break on a rare day off together on Saturday 18th Jan. On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome, the young lad who seemed new was an absolute delight, so naturally friendly. The first 'bottomless brunch' event was already in full swing. We ordered lunch. A simple toastie, soup and a sandwich elevated to great heights by fantastic produce and attention to detail by, clearly, a competent chef. Delicious. My prawn sandwich was bursting with juicy plump prawns held together with thick quality fresh bread. My bloke's bacon & Brie toastie and chips was indulgent and creamy- the chips were delicious- could they have been cooked in beef dripping we wondered! Drinks varied and very reasonably priced! We stayed in the large suite on top floor, very comfy bed and retty much everything we needed. We did suggest to staff that the addition of a larger, smart tv is necessary as we had some issues with tv signal and couldn't watch a film as planned. Had a great sleep. Breakfast was superb and quite 'cheffy' as seemed to be cooked by someone who certainly knows their way round a kitchen. Special mention for that yummy fried bread. The bloke had a sausage & mushroom omelette which he said was perfect. I'd have liked tinned tomatoes and Stornoway black pudding but that's just personal preference and the offerings were plentiful. In the evening we chatted to the lovely Joss as it was pretty quiet, yet cosy and we got through quite a few rums! All the staff here are an absolute credit to the place, service levels are beyond exceptional. Attentive, professional and mega friendly. We'll be booking again.

Fabuloso pub. Increíblemente cálida bienvenida tanto por el personal como por los lugareños. Nos alojamos en el pub en una cena bed and breakfast y nos quedamos tan impresionados con todo sobre nuestra estancia. Sin duda volveremos. La estación de tren justo enfrente del pub hizo un viaje fácil a Whitby.

Acogedor pub con un menú excelente, inusual y creativo. Todo se cocina por encargo lo que, comprensiblemente, lleva algún tiempo. El servicio es amable y eficiente y todo el establecimiento tiene una sensación encantadora. Muy recomendable para una comida con una diferencia en la zona Whitby.

Comida y servicio increíbles. Anteriormente entró y ambos tenían pollo satay wrap para el almuerzo. Hermosamente presentado sabía maravilloso. Vine esta mañana a desayunar, desayuné burrito con salchicha extra, compañero había ahumado salmón con huevo revuelto. Todo perfecto. Servicio amable y rápido. Volveremos a visitar cuando volvamos

Everything a UK fish and chip shop should be. Everything they serve is made with beef dripping, just as it should be, resulting in the quintessential fish and chips experience that has been missing from our nation since most began to use the far inferior vegetable oil to appease vegetarians/odd people. As someone who makes and uses beef dripping for all meals I make at home in Manchester, it can be difficult to find places to eat that carry the same ethos of making food in a natural, good and honest way. Beef tallow is rich in bioavailable fats, vitamin A and even vitamin K, which is good for eyes and skin. Anyway, I came here last year in the summer on recommendation from a fellow festival goer, and the staff here were kind enough to hang on from closing whilst I beckoned my friends who had just arrived to Scarborough on the promise that this was no normal chippy. The quality of their fish, the mastery of balance in flavour of their chips cooked in the dripping, I can honestly say this is the best fish and chip shop I’ve experienced since Nancy’s on Macc Road closed in the 90’s. As I’m attending the festival again this year, I’m secretly more excited to eat here again than I am to see any of the bands. Bravo, Ramshill Fisheries.

Excellent quality home cooked food, varied menu lots of choice. Service was exceptionally friendly and efficient, we were a large party and had not pre-ordered.

We returned here for a sixth year in a row and weren’t disappointed. Would definitely recommend to others - food is delicious with a varied menu and lots of vegetarian options. Food is some of the best in Whitby. Thank you!

Nos recomendaron a Pizza West por nuestra hija que ha estado un par de veces. Mi esposa tenía gambas reales con espagueti y yo tenía un hongo, jamón, etc pizza + una copa de vino. Había un gran bullicio en el lugar con un montón de gente obviamente disfrutando. El personal era genial, explicando y preguntas claramente. Muy bueno, no podía fallar y muy recomendable.

Comida nada como imágenes en internet. Da la impresión de ser un establecimiento con estrella Michelin. Simplemente no lo es. Ambos entrantes venían con pan de tigre que claramente había sido comprado a Tesco. El plato principal era transitable, sin ambiente. No se parece en nada a la comida / entorno anunciado en absoluto. En serio ir a las brasas en la ciudad - es excelente. No vayas aquí

Visitamos dos veces durante 2 días durante un fin de semana con amigos en Whitby. El Black Horse marcó todas las cajas - el personal era amable y servicial, la comida era excelente - probamos una serie de platos, todos geniales. Las bebidas eran una fantástica selección de cerveza local, viejas favoritas y una sólida variedad de productos básicos. Si quieres ver un pub de Yorkshire bueno, anticuado y acogedor, con excelente comida fresca y casera, este es el lugar para ti!

Our weekly treat of dirty chips (gravy, mushy peas and scraps piled on chips). Oooooh.

Llamé aquí un sábado por la mañana hacía mucho calor y había condensación corriendo por las ventanas. La señora que nos sirvió rechazó una petición muy simple que otros cafés nos han obligado. La comida era de muy mala calidad, especialmente las salchichas que eran horribles y el resto no era mucho mejor, lo siento, pero no volveremos.

Encontré este pequeño lugar encantador por casualidad, pequeño y acogedor. Buena selección en el menú, los dos elegimos un bocadillo, uno de jamón y tomate y el otro de jamón, tomate y cebolla. Vinieron con o sin ensalada y ensalada de col. Encantadores bocadillos hechos por encargo, el único negativo fue que la ensalada de col era una cantidad tan pequeña que parecía que se había medido con una cucharadita pero por lo demás era excelente. Sin duda volveremos cuando visitemos Whitby.
