Come here every week and without fail service and quality of both food and staff are excellent.

Excellent quality fish and chips. Came from Bradford especially for a fish and chip lunch. Cherie and Alex are the best, and know how to make the best fish and chips in Yorkshire. We will be back. 😊😊😊

I got takeout fish and chips and mushy peas. The quality of the food needs some work.The batter was fine, but the fish instead of being tender and flaky, was dense and tough. The mushy peas were quite disappointing—they lacked flavor and were far too watery. That was my first and last visit in this place.

Food was absolutely disgusting staff very rude the lady needs to smile food was very greasy like the owner chips hard won’t be returning!!!! Will be going to cjs from now on!

Fabulous fish and chips, Highiy recommend, staff friendly and chatty very pleasant experience. Will definitely be using Dicky bees again.

So as per my last review stating that this is the best chip shop on yorkshire coast, 11 months later i fully retract this claim. The shop changed hands in july last year, i was unaware. The chip shop curry sauce is now not that nice. Not original chip shop curry sauce anymore. Its now chinese curry sauce. What a let down. The fish is nice but the batter is not! its not cooked for long enough (undercooked). After speaking to the lovely lady behind the counter she stated that the food “is now 10x better than it was before”. She couldnt have told me a bigger lie! In conclusion to my visit today, i am very disappointed with what i have come across. I now have to find the new best chip shop on the yorkshire coast. Perhaps one that does proper original curry sauce with raisins in and properly cooked batter. FUMING!!!

Well I can say that Dicky Bees comes on top I have compared Trenchers (Whitby) fish chips with DB'S. DB's Fish are larger, both haddock and cod, taste better. So recommend Dicky Bees for fish and chips

Popped in tonight at 6pm, and got a beautiful fresh cooked cod & chips and haddock & chips (with various sides and a sausage for the pup)! Absolutely perfectly cooled and not too greasy, ate the lot as did the pup! We visit Filey for our holidays each year and will be marking this chippy for our future treats!!!Thank so much 😋

Bought fish and chips here regularly over the years. Really nice tasty Haddock and chips - Thanks again. Note to the chap frying the fish etc. Don’t be so curt with your customers when they are placing orders for food. A perceived poor attitude can turn customers away, which would be a real shame. See you again very soon.

Best chippy I've tried in Filey over the years. Very consistent with their quality. Haddock is always fresh, full of flavour and tender. The chips are golden and fully edible, unlike some of the other chippies in Filey that have inedible black manky bits, forcing you bin more than you eat. Wish they were open more often and for longer...

Amazing big chunky battered haddock. Large scallops Such a lovely touch was some chip's given inside the haddock. Prices excellent. If your staying at the caravan parks come here for delicious proper chippy tea.10/10

Absolutely delicious fish and chips, just a shame the lady serving wasn't a bit more sociable, she's definitely not a people person.

Just had cod and chips x twice. Fish was fresh cooked and delicious, with a lovely golden batter. Just bak from the main drag, it is definitely worth a visit, and we will definitely be returning.

Edit - Always difficult to match previous excellence but the new owners have done it. This is still the best fish and chip shop in Filey. The food is perfectly cooked. Brown's is a close second but the rest are pretty poor. I've tried all of them.

Disappointing visit compared to glory days. The portion size was small, compared to what you get in the North East for a similar price. The fish was thin, but well cooked. The chips were brown, rather than golden; and not at all crisp and fluffy, more greasy and limp. Again portion size very small, less than 1/3 of a North East portion. However, the biggest issue was the curry sauce was very disappointing, there was a large congealed lump in the middle, not sure if it was a skin from a cold pot or a lump formed by not stirring in the sauce powder properly. We did not complain given we had walked to the seafront to eat and the shop would be closed by time we walked back. Sorry no return visit.

Went in today 19th July for haddock and chips for my husband and myself. Best fish and chips ever meaty tasty fish. Ate up on country park even better lol.

I have had the pleasure of having fish and chips from Alex and Cheri from a previous shop they had in Halifax. Recently called in to Dicky Bees and they are still the same quality and freshness, if not better! Definitely a must visit if you're visiting Filey any time soon.

Best fish and chips I've had for a long time. Had some before from here (before new management) but these were 100% better than before! Give it a try, you won't be dissapointed.

We came on Thursday and had fish and chips and a fish and yorkshire fish cake. There was a que but got served quickly. The food was to an excellent standard. Will be making this our regular. Well done to the new owners and staff.

We called in earlier today (Saturday 6th July) and the fish and chips were absolutely delicious 😋. The fish was as white as snow and the chips had some colour, not like anemic chips that some chippies serve. The Chinese curry was very tasty too. The staff and owner were extremely friendly and chatty, which is great. Highly recommend. We'll definitely be back 😋

Been three times this week, since the new owners took over it’s back to being the best in Filey, chips are perfect, massive portions and cheap! Highly recommended

If your not a regular custmer, you dont know where to stand, ie place ur order or just stand there, chips over cooked, fish very greasy n over cooked, was asked for salt n vinager said yes plz, but had to ask again as she dident put it on, not good

New owners so I thought I’d give them a try. Unfortunately the quality wasn’t great. The chips were very well done and the batter on the fish was very dry and very greasy. The fish had been cooked to order but was very overdone inside the batter. I’ll stick with my regular shop in the future. Such a shame as it’s very near to where I live.

Best fish and chips I've had in a very long time. I ordered a small fish and chips as I was due to go for a curry in a couple of hours. The fish was pure white, very fresh and glistening with moisture, having been steamed in its crisp light batter coating. The chips were soft and brown not crispy and tasted slightly sweet for being fried in beef dripping. If I lived in Filey, it would be once a week for me.

Waited for 15 minutes for chips. When I opened them they were overcooked and mostly fragments so goodness knows what they'd been doing. Batter was very fatty. Fish was nice but the rest was very poor. Not sure how they survive in a seaside town when their food is so poor.

Worst fish and chips I have ever had heard this place supposed to be nice where do I start worse chips I have had in 50 years tasteless chips and the oil is burnt disgusting chips how could you feed these to your kids even the dog wouldn’t eat them the fish was totally burnt spent 20 pound and couldn’t eat them not a happy customer

The worst fish and chips I’ve ever had! Visiting family as a southerner I’d expect a seaside town to have a decent go at fish and chips, but my god, I was disappointed. The oil was clearly old, the portions were the meanest I’ve ever seen and the chips were burnt and awful tasting. To top it off I found some micro plastic in my fish. Avoid this place like the plague.

BEST CHIP SHOP ON EAST COAST. NOTHING COMES NEAR IT. BIG UP DICKY BEES. Proper old school curry sauce, impeccable fish. N a lovely set of ladies behind counter.

Visiting Filey and wandering past here and a lady passers-by said best in Filey so we gave it a try.OMG not disappointed. Cod,chips and peas absolutely brilliant, really worth a try people 😀

Take away: Fish and chips are very good though the chips can be a bit hard. If you like good fish & chips in Filey, come here - much better than some of the other places.

Thought we’d try some where new from normal places. Fish and chips is subjective and one man likes crispy golden batter and another likes it soft and greasy. Food didn’t work me here. A very dark batter, a thin fish and heart sunk when the skin was still on. No curry sauce, so went with gravy but too runny for me(great for others perhaps). Freshly cooked to order, friendly staffs and reasonable pricing.

Visiting on holiday and was looking for a nice chippy. Cod was really nice and the chips were cooked lovely, gravy and curry sauce really tasty too. Will definitely go back before we go home 😀

We called in at lunchtime today with our adult autistic son. He had googled 'Dicky Bees' and was excited to eat in their café. When we arrived we found that the cafe was closed. The staff saw our sons distress and were kindness itself. They opened a safe place for him to eat his ( rather delicious) food, and totally made our day. We cannot recommend Dicky Bees enough. Yummy food and outstanding service! We will be back! 😊

Called here this lunchtime for fish and chips to eat by the sea. Lovely friendly staff. Great deal, Haddock, chips and peas in a box £6.70 each and a sausage for the dogs. It was all fresh out of the fryer and very very good. Would definitely recommend 😊

Nice, freshly cooked fish and chips. I asked for salt and vinegar but for my taste they were over salted. Not the best fish and chips I've ever had but certainly not the worst and a long way from the most expensive. I would go back (but I'd ask them to go easy on the salt)

At 30+30 something of age, my wife and I will only have cod and chips from Dicky Bees, you have to wait a short while for your fish to be cooked but well worth it, the service and staff are second to none. Tom and sue Richardson from York

Not used dripping for years and forgotten how greasy it tastes and what it does to the food. A shame as it was good quality fish.

Excellent. Best fish ever. Been having fish and chips here on every trp to Filey. I must say the only change is the size of the fish you get....but that's understandable in this day and age. This fish and I must say chips are 5 * constantly. Staff are always pleasant.

Stopped in the Haven caravan site, drived over here after reading bad reviews of the on site shop. Ok / Good, £5 a fish, £2 a portion of chips. Fish might not be everyone's favourite, but edible and not tourist priced as such.

Been visiting this fish shop for over 40 years and still as good,staff always friendly and helpful,shop always extremely clean. EXCELLENT.

Chips were okay. We had a haddock which was very greasy but the fish itself tasted alright without the batter. The pattie was extremely greasy. Mushy peas wasn't good at all and didn't taste much.

Don't have a pie rock hard crust very poor ,small portions of chip s and had to wait ages not sure why after tasting the food .Tried it once would not go again generous with a 1 sorry don't usually post but not happy here .My son s battered sausage looked way overdone will go around the corner next time very disappointing as thought it was going to be good 👎👎👎

Came to this beautiful chippy yesterday evening after leaving Scarborough, and omg the fish was amazing, the curry sauce was beautiful. The staff are so pleasant and lovely. Thank you so much. Definitely highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

Lovely meal, not greasy at all. Plenty for 2 in a large portion. Never had a bad meal here yet.

Just had the worse meal ever from this place ,was served held overcooked sausage must have been held for hours,same as the chips and the gravy tastes like frozen fish what a waste of money,just because you wrap it before the customer sees it does not mean you should not serve fresh

Went to some trouble to visit the place and was disappointed. Chips were fine but the fish was grossly overcooked and underneath the crocodile skin batter was a small fish finger sized piece of fish.. Coble landing next time.

Really disappointed this time round was great last year when we visited. Fish was overcooked as were the chips very dry even tho i have a lot of vinegar usually on them... should of gone to brown rooms

Great fish n chips excellent customer service

Had to wait for 20 plus minutes. Haddock and chips twice 1 x small peas 1x small gravy. Cost £14.60. After 10 minutes of looking at the menu..not much else to do, whilst waiting, I realised I should've been charged £11.20. I queried this. I was told in no uncertain terms 'It's right!!!'. It wasn't but for £3 I wasn't going to argue in the street. The fish and chips were excellent if you like proper traditional fish and chips. The fish quality was superb. I found the beef dripping too fatty. I also didn't like the skin on the fish, but I appreciate this was top quality traditional fish and chips.

Excellent Haddock and chips. As others have said cooked fresh to order. Lovely brown chips. Chrunchy batter on the fish. Friendly service. All covid safe. Will definitely be going back.
