No había nadie sirviendo.

A nice touch, creating your own Yorkshire Tapas. And it works so well. The pub is tiny and you'll be talking with strangers in seconds. If thats not you're thing then you may need to reconsider. The food is little plates and well presented. Everything in here is a talking point. So whatever you get... get used to being stared at. We loved it and we'll be back!

You just have to try the Yapas (Yorkshire tapas) here. The portions re not huge like most tapas and it is to be cheesy food I town but the quality and taste is outstaying. Add to the fact that they serve Old Peculiar off the wood and the staff are friendly what more could you want?

Came here from a recommendation from local YouTuber called simply Whitby who does videos of the local area a must watch if you plan to come to visit. A very old very small two bar traditional old English pub. Dog friendly but if you have prams or push chair it’s probably best you leave them outside. Cash or card accepted here. Local ales served on draught. Yapas served (Whitby tapas) We called in one night and spent most our evening there as the lady who ran it was very warm and welcoming got talking to other patrons with dogs. Second night we called in after 9pm we were still able to order food I can recommend the French onion soup amazing. In short a wonderful experience and we will return next year. I am not affiliated with the simply Whitby YouTube channel and my views of his channel are my own based on watching his channel.

Have been to Whitby several times and always walked past this pub which was obviously a bad mistake on my part as it has now become my favourite pub in Whitby. It’s tiny but if you’re lucky enough to find a seat then a good time can be had. Good selection of drinks including cocktails and although I didn’t get to try anything on it, it looked like a really good food menu. Actually that’s a fib, I did try the warm pork scratchings which was ok but not really my thing. My friend couldn’t get enough of them. Staff were lovely and I was very impressed at how quick they were to clean tables once one had become free. There are board games to play and I particularly enjoyed playing dominoes. Visited the Black Horse 3 nights in a row and will be having a drink or two or three at this most excellent establishment when I next visit Whitby.

I cannot recommend the "Yapas" highly enough, with so many delicious choices on the regular and specials menu. We started with warm pork scratchings with our drinks, and shared a charcuterie board, a bowl of beef and blue, and pork belly bites. When we realised we'd left it too late to get fish and chips, we went back for a late supper (they serve food til very late), of kipper pate and pork pie. Everything was so yummy, I'm already thinking of reasons to go back to Whitby so we can try the rest of the menu! The staff were also super friendly and helpful, and we loved chatting to all the other visitors.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Black Horse. The good reviews on here must be for the pub because the rooms are appalling. We stayed in "Adventure" a double with en suite. The room was very small, there is a worn out creaky, uncomfortable, old wooden framed double bed with washed out worn out bedding. There is no wardrobe! The wardrobe consists of 4 wooden hangers on a few wobbly hooks on the wall by the door. The floors are really uneven, the woodwork is dingy yellow with a dingy stained ceiling, the towels are washed out, hard, rough, stained and smell awful. The privacy is non-existent as there is no blind or net curtain and the windows opposite look directly into the rooms so you need to draw the curtains all the time. On our first night it rained and the water poured in through the closed window tapping on the windowsill all night long and soaking the carpet. Truly unbelievable and unacceptable. We only stayed because our parents were staying down the road in the very much better comfortable Endeavour pub.I would never recommend this accommodation to anyone. It is the worst place we have ever stayed in. Truly awful. See pics attached!

A good selection of keg and cask ales in a small cosy bar. Dog friendly and always a great place to chat with visitors from all over the UK and abroad (Suprisingly on this Monday evening most people seemed to be from Barnsley!!).

One of the smallest pubs in Whitby but it just shows what can be done in such a small space if you work at it. Apart from the great selection off beers including Hoegaarden and Leffe on tap real ale and craft keg there is a large selection off bottles, gins, and spirits and cocktails. Tapas is served all say and they have rooms as well. A great pub with an interested owner who along with good staff makes it one of the best in Whitby.

Just stayed overnight, bed was very comfortable, great bathroom with rain shower. The in room drinks tray was the best I've ever seen even in big hotels, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, biscuits, water, porridge and tissues. Good pub atmosphere for a nightcap, very friendly

Easy to find on Church street, The Black Horse is a classic local pub. Outside, the façade is Victorian, inside it is small and cosy with little two bars. We sat in the rear bar which was comfortable. The staff are really friendly and they have a selection of really well kept ales. Worth a look for a couple of pints when exploring Whitby.

A typical English pub. We were warmly welcomed (as always). The food is good and the staff is friendly as always. The beer is also tasty. There is a covered and heated area in the yard for smokers. Dogs are very welcome. I can only recommend this pub. Unfortunately I won't be able to get there again until September.

Got stranded in castleton trying to get home to Danby during Storm Darragh. Called into the pub to get warm and work out what to do. Last minute decision was to stay the night because we didn't want to risk getting stuck in the floods. Room was perfect, clean and tidy! The 2 young lads behind the bar were so helpful and kind!! We could even laugh about being stuck 5 mins from home! They kindly charged our phones behind the bar and even lent us a member of staff's charger overnight. Next time we will have to try the food as its been a good few years since we last ate in there!
