Nice restaurant. Decent price and good taste as well.

No complaints about the quality of the food. Both starter soups on offer were tasty and spicy. The Thai curry's are also good. Sadly the Customer Service ethic there is appallingly bad. As a couple we were seated at a nice window table but shortly asked to move. They stated they had made an error and the table had been booked for 4 people. We were moved to a darker corner table. No party appeared and during our meal a couple arrived on spec and asked if they could have our window seat and were obliged. It made us feel like 2nd class citizens and ruined the whole eating out experience. It was clear that the reason for the move was to keep open a 4 seater table in case a party of 4 arrived but worse they then tried to make silly excuses that just made them look ridiculous. I live locally and have eaten there before but sadly never again. It was their own greed where they value maximising profit over Customer satisfaction that lost them this customer.

What an absolute joke. 4.6?? No way. They say a Thai restaurant is only as good as its Pad Kra Pao. And this was not it. The only thing that this 'pad kra pao' got right was that it's spicy. Other than that it's an absolute joke. And for £11??? Rice not even included??? Yeah forget about it. I could get double the food which tastes twice as good for the same price at any other restaurant.

Great food as always. Whether calling in for lunch or for an evening meal, you'd be hard pushed to find better. Definately one of my favourites. Thoroughly delicious. Sorry there are no pictures, the food smelt too good to wait!

Probably the least authentic Thai food in Yorkshire! Pad Thai was similar to a supermarket pack flavor, absolutely unbalanced and I'm not sure why people would rate this place. Green curry was again missing the depth of flavour. It's what's called chi-Thai, a mix of Chinese takeaway and Thai food from a buffet. Also, make sure you ask if they have run out of anything before you order the drinks as once you are seated they proceeded to explain the have no sticky rice!! The main thing you need with Thai food. I should have gone to Tesco's

This was the best Thai food I’ve eaten, and I’ve tried loads. We booked a table on the day, arrived , served and eaten within the hour. It was busy, the food was fresh hot and so tasted. We had 4 different meals between 3 of us, they were all delicious. I actually could not stop eating, even though I was full. It was just too tasty. I would highly recommend this lovely little hidden gem of a restaurant. The service was absolutely spot on, excellent all round. I would actually comeback to Scarborough just to eat in that restaurant again.

Our first visit to Thai Orchid as we don't live locally. What a lovely meal we've just had. Service was prompt, efficient & very friendly & the food was delicious. Hope to return sometime & we can certainly recommend this lovely restaurant.

Very nice thai place in town - glad to find this gem. We sat upstairs and it was quiet and tastefully decorated. The Masamman was good, and the food came quickly. Good ambience and setting, conveniently located right in the centre of everything. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic. Found this while working in Scarborough for several days. Great food at reasonable price. Staff are friendly, service is very good. We ended up going back multiple nights as it was a lot cheaper and better quality than the hotels.

The food is absolutely amazing 100%. But customer service is 0.00%. I went in with my family af african background, the waitress merissa straight away told me I can't order starters because it takes a while to cook. So we only ordered main meal. This was at 8pm. They close at 10pm. The order placed was for 4 kids 2 adults. I and my sister (the adults) had a full portion of king prawn fried rice, and then my kids had one scoop of fried rice on their plates. I had to ask why my kids food was so small, the waitress said sorry it was a mistake, they will bring more. So she went and brought the chef (a lady) and the chef said yes she can see that the portions were very small so she said she will make it half price for the kids. I said no, I'd prefer full price with the correct portion. So she brought one more plate which I shared on my kids plate. Then 4 white males walked in, and they were allowed to order starters etc. For us, no starters or deserts. But it's ok for others to. The kitchen can provide. The waitress kept going up to them asking if they were ok and if they wanted anything else, again walked pass us even when we tried speak to her to get a take away bowl we wanted for our srpring rolls. I and my family felt very unwanted there. Basically it seemed as if they wanted to eat quick and leave. That's why we were not allowed to order what we wanted. I had travelled all the way from London to spend time in Scarborough and thus restaurant was recommended for their "amazing" food. Which without a doubt the food was out of this world, butthe way I was treated! The racism was very obvious. I will never recommend such a place. The atmosphere should be the same as the food. This place is a no go area. If you want to enjoy the foods from here, please order online before 9pm. But do not go in.

Excellent. Recommended to eat here by a neighbouring business owner and we were not disappointed. The restaurant had a very pleasant ambience. We made a reservation, which we were pleased about, as it was busy. A must do. Our welcome was warm and with a lovely smile. After a short while, we ordered tiger beers and our meals. I had chicken satay, which was fresh and tasty and my Husband had Tom Yum with chicken, he said it was the best he's ever had! There was a short break between courses. Our mains were Pad Kee Mao with pork and Pad Prik Gang with chicken, accompanied by egg fried rice. Both were well presented, deliciously spicy too. We look forward to returning soon and certainly will on our next trip to Scarborough.

Amazing Thai restaurant right in the heart of Scarborough, Amazing friendly service and absolutely delicious food, went 2 nights running couldn't fault it , will definitely be visiting again as we love Scarborough.

A small seating restaurant, this did not stop an excellent service. Only opens 5pm to 10pm Tuesday to Saturday but well worth a visit. Hot chillie meals are hot, but a good selection of meals for non chillie eaters. Price of dishes from £5 to £12 with extras available.

Had the massaman curry and was 10/10. Lovely. Staff were very nice and food came very quick

Another accidental discovery whilst looking for a meal. We'd ended up getting back late due to traffic and had less time to find somewhere to eat. Staff were absolutely lovely and let us in even though they were closing within the hour. Service was quick and the food was nice. Pricing was a bit more expensive but definitely worth it. My curry was a bit on the spicy side for my tastes, but that's just my opinion and others with a higher spice tolerance would probably enjoy it! The woman who served us was also really great and let us back in after I'd forgotten the keys for our flat.

Had a lovely meal at Thai Orchid last night. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a mixed platter and Tofu panang curry and would highly recommend both dishes! The service was also 10/10 the staff that served us were all very welcoming. Will definitely be going back!

Really enjoyed this restaurant. Went two nights in a row. Tom Yum soup (I had chicken and mushroom) was delicious. Good sized serving for a very good price. First night had the Pla Rad Prik, fish was a little dry but not dry enough to send back. Vegetables and sauce were superb. 2nd visit had the Thai red curry with chicken, excellent. May make a 3rd trip before I leave town. Can also say the staff are very nice.

The food here is fantastic. I started with chicken satay which are is the best I have ever had. Then I followed this with massaman curry. The sauce was so delicious I could have taken a bucket of it home with me. The staff were very nice. Will definitely go to this restaurant again when I am in Scarborough.

Having read good reviews, I thought we’d give this place a go. Downstairs is cosy and nicely lit.There wasn’t any room for us there so we were sat upstairs. As we walked upstairs we were greeted by a waft of sewers from the toilet area, there was also a strong smell of air freshener, clearly in an attempt to cover the unpleasant smell. Not their fault but I found it incredibly off putting and lost my appetite.Attention to detail and scent are important parts of the whole dining experience for me. There was a dead Lilly on the shelf upstairs which gave the impression that they just don’t care what it looks like.We both love Thai food and are fortunate to have eaten in some really nice restaurants. My partner said his food was ok, I ordered 2 starters; fish cakes and spring rolls. The spring rolls were ok but the fish cakes were rubbery and very uniformed in shape,which suggests they’re not made fresh. The positives; the guy that served us was friendly and polite and when the food came out it was piping hot. We don’t live here and if we ever came back to Scarborough, I wouldn’t be inclined to return to this restaurant.

Just ordered a takeout for two. We got the mixed starter and the chicken Thai green curry and a beef masaman curry. The flavour of them both was amazing and the only reason we didn’t eat in was we have a dog! It looks really cosy and for a Tuesday evening was busy inside. Certainly worth visiting or for takeout.

We visited here for one of our evening meals whilst on holiday. The restaurant was nice and spacious upstairs and we felt welcome. Initial service was ok, but not brilliant as the waiter was new, however he was friendly. The food came out very quickly, however we all agreed it was of average standard compared to many other Thai restaurants we have visited previously. Although the food was tasty, it felt a little pre-prepared, rather than fresh. We were disappointed that they didn’t have any Thai beers in stock and we had to wait ages for our plates to cleared and get the bill. In summary it was a mediocre experience and we wouldn’t make a special effort to return.

This used to be one of my favourite places to eat in Scarborough however my recent visit was a shambles The chicken in thee curry was incredibly tough, my main course was simply sea bass with lettuce and carrot as they didn't put the spring onions, peppers, coriander etc on the plate (when I mentioned this at payment time I was told 'they would chase it up for me' No idea what that meant a we were leaving!) When it came to desserts they have three on the menu however they had no chocolate cake or cheesecake which is strange as it was a Tuesday and the first day of their opening week. I'm so disappointed that this restaurant has changed and I won't be returning.

The food was incredible, very intricately presented and complete with extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Thai Orchid is an asset to Scarborough and I am already eagerly anticipating my next visit so I can have the Chicken Satay and the Massaman Curry again.

Went to Thai Orchid after recommendation from a friend and wasn't disappointed. Beautiful little place, spotlessly clean with an extensive menu. the food and service was superb, would recommend the stir-fry duck, it was lovely and tasty.

Who would go to scarborough and have a Thai??? Well that’s what we did, and it did not disappoint, fantastic meal, good service, cooked our food to a traditional recipe at our request. Fantastic. Will be back!

A Tripadvisor search brought us the the Thai Orchid. It was easy to find with good friendly staff. CV19 precautions were in use. Extensive food and drinks menu. We chose the Green Curry which was excellent washed down with Singha beer! Highly recommended..

We read the reviews which were very complimentary so booked a table for dinner for the 2 of us. It was our first visit to this restaurant. The food was nice, but the service was very hit and miss. The layout made the centre of the ground floor where we ate feel like a corridor. There were lots of people coming in and out to go upstairs, go to the toilet, get a take away and surprisingly make deliveries of supplies (at 7.30pm), half of whom left the door open in the process. This combined with the poor service made for a disappointing experience all in all.

What a lovely surprise find. Staying in Scarborough for a couple of nights and found this little gem nit far from our hotel. Its a small family run business,very authentic, food and service amazingly good. Will definitely recommend you try, very reasonable priced food. Lovely waiter and waitress

We had a week's holiday in Filey. On other nights w had Rand round many places in Filey an Scarborough , and it was all answer machines with full mailboxes telling us to book online. ... Could not get in anywhere on the Tues and ended up getting a just ok takeaway in Filey. So Thurs we had spent the day in Scarborough and thought we would try get a walk - in somewhere nice. I'd eaten burgers n chips all week and was craving some good healthy food so badly. I found this place on this site, rang up and in half an hour we were seated in a nice little restaurant. Nice lady took our order. Tiger beer on tap was a bonus as a lot of these places tend to be bottles only. We had a mixed starter to share which was delicious. Massaman beef curry , and a vedg/king prawn dish with side of noodles to share. Everything was fresh , hot , flavourful and we really enjoyed it . They do takeaway too, so didn't mind me taking my leftovers home , which was eaten at midnight after a night at the caravan parks clubhouse. Recommended, will be back next time we are in te area.

Delicious food and lovely staff. We visited with a baby and a high chair seat was fitted to a chair before we sat down at the dining table. They could not have been more helpful.

Visiting Scarborough for a holiday, and after a few days wanted something other than fish and chips and pub food. The food at Thai Orchid is seriously delicious, and we all eat quite a lot of Asian food. This place is way up there with some of the nicest Thai food we’ve eaten. Chilled and relaxed atmosphere, family vibe, friendly staff, unpretentious, affordable. We would definitely go back!

A true hidden gem. Food was amazing- 5 star service with waitress in traditional Thai costume. Excellent value, service and food. Cannot recommend this highly enough. Definitely worth a visit. We will return again and again to this amazing family run restaurant. Small but perfect.

Excellent, friendly, accommodating and the food is delicious We hadn’t booked but didn’t have to wait too long. The pace of food service was really comfortable, didn’t feel rushed but not a lengthy wait. The food was yummy and tasted every bit as good as it looked . Staff were friendly and very welcoming.

Visited here Thursday 15 October at 1800 ,what a choice it was fab the young man who greeted us was very polite and helpful,a very pleasant young man ,the food was fantastic,my wife had a prawn dish and I opted for a chicken dish ,before that we had a sharing plater ,then to finish we ended up with an ice cream, just as well we only got one,the portion was large. Good prices and a great place ,we had a great chat at the end with the young man,once again very pleasant,it is a must if you visit Scarborough

We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Thai Orchid last week. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. An ideal place for a quiet intimate meal. We would recommend the Orchid wholeheartedly.
