The best restaurants in Abbey Bath and North East Somerset South West

I’ve never written a review before, but here I am. We had a Sunday roast lunch booked for 3:30pm, we walked in and the place had a strange vibe to it as some tables were empty with plates etc still on, few tables busy but no one eating - and bar staff just polishing glasses. Lady behind the bar pointed to our table reluctantly after looking through the list of bookings, we then sat down. We stayed sat down for 15/20 minutes and no one had come over to clean it, give us a menu, or even ask us if we’d like a drink. At this point, I stood up and went to the bar, I explained the situation to the lady behind the bar who was what I’d describe as unhelpful and rude. She shrugged her shoulders, never apologised, suggested we move table and I wait for the manager. This lack of attentiveness and care really shone a bad light on this place for me as a new customer. We left the pub after no sign of a manager or further care, only to search the city looking for a roast somewhere else. I will never be returning.

Lovely place for pre Halloween drinks, Basti our server was funny and efficient for bottomless brunch. I recommend coming here for good drinks 👻

Good traditional pub with good food and a selection of beers and larger.

I ordered two regular cornish, 1 beef and stilton and a chicken pasty to take away. These pasties used to be good, however now the pastry on the cornish was greasy on the bottom and tasteless, there was no meat stock that usually leaks into the inside of the crust making it tasty, they lacked seasoning particularly black pepper and there was no visible swede in mine either. So disappointed especially with the high price charged. Cannot get decent Cornish pasties outside Cornwall now it seems. My husband said his pasty was saved by the Stilton, but the chicken pasty was also bland and lacking seasoning.

Nice pub, busy inside. Food was standard pub grub which is exactly what we wanted. Staff were also very friendly, Irish barman especially (sorry, didn't catch his name).

Media docena de cabinas pequeñas, igual que antes, y un bonito muro de Bath Stone expuesto a un lado Café expreso decente: un gran aumento de precio con respecto a la administración anterior, pero luego era probablemente el lugar más barato de la ciudad.

All the food was amazing. Their drinks are great too and would recommend their steak and cauliflower dish. Their desserts are absolutely delicious. We would definitely come back.

Seems to have lost some of its original magic. We enjoyed a few drinks and really good food previously. Ordered Chateaubriand to share, was tough. Staff seemed stressed over all disappointing from our previous couple of visits. Gave us the impression as gone from great atmosphere, vibrant and relaxed dining to more like a rowdy watering hole. The cocktails weren’t as good as we remembered either sadly.

Don't believe the reviews, awesome place! Huge portions with proper pulled pork/brisket, dirty juicy burgers and huge portions of fries all cooked to perfection. Better burger than Beefy Boys, these guys should get an award 👍🏼Also very attentive friendly staff

When we arrived we were seated in the basement in a damp, crowded corner, the whole place smelt very strange, which was very unpleasant, we decided to leave before we had even ordered any drinks, I made the waitress aware of this and she tried to offer us an alternative, to which I politely declined, she then decided to chase us up the stairs trying to offer more alternatives, it has gone downhill since our last visit

Sadly this restaurant did not meet expectations. We arrived on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was cold and unfriendly with hardly any people dining. The waitress was rude and behaved as if she wished we hadn't come. Grudgingly the heating was put on but it was still cold and still unfriendly. One of our party complained to the manager and the waitress was taken off our table. Someone who, I think, should never be employed in the hospitality industry. It was a birthday "celebration" for three of the party - sadly it was anything but. The food was ok but nothing special.

Nice selection of beers and ales. Classic Brittish authentic pub decor and vibe. Lovely staff and a great and surprisingly large beer garden downstairs and out the back by the river
