4 of us visited The Gaff last night for the Chef’s Table experience to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I must admit I was slightly trepidatious when we sat at the bar and were the only patrons in there. I needn’t have worried. As the restaurant filled up around us Chef Robert served up one of the best tasting menus we’d ever experienced. Every course was wonderfully unfussy, with a couple of dishes opting to make vegetables the star of the show, believe me - you’ve never had cauliflower like this. He was also a great host who clearly loves his craft and happily indulged my amateur interests in his cooking throughout the evening. All this was complimented by our American friend with a passion for Pauillac, the wine pairings were high quality, interesting but most importantly delicious. It is unbelievably good value for what you receive (£140 a head for 8 courses, 8 wines and service) and felt really special. My only thought as I exited into the cool April night, ‘I can’t wait to go back’.

A fantastic range of beverages and cakes with a distinctive Asian twist. The cakes are freshly made each day on the premises and are wonderfully different. Tasty, not to sweet and very moorish. The selection of teas and coffees is excellent as well, we have now experienced all sorts of different ones. A definite must visit when in Bath. Very friendly staff and warm atmosphere.

Could not have chosen a better restaurant for a two night stay in beautiful Bath. I specifically wanted a well located small, family-run cosy place and this fitted the bill completely and went far and beyond expectations. The food was exquisite and the service absolutely superb - very warm and friendly; the staff were attentive without being overbearing. We decided we liked it so much that before we had finished eating, we had already booked a table for our second night. Again, we were not disappointed and ended up choosing the Chateaubriand - it was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this gem of a place and will most definitely be booking again when we next visit.

We originally thought this was a French Brasserie, but found this was not really the case. It is attached to the Royal Hotel in Bath, it you don’t have to be a resident to book a table here. However, the menu had much to our liking and didn’t disappoint. The starters we had were very tasty, lentil and bacon soup with chestnuts for hubby , and smoked mackerel pate for me with a nice variety of bread provided by the lovely waitress , who was managing every table on her own.very admirably. For mains hubby had chicken mixed grill and I had a rare sirloin, both with chunky chips, everything cooked perfectly. Although we were offered a sweet menu neither of us could take advantage of sampling the offerings. A very reasonable restaurant which we would certainly recommend eating at

The food was reasonably priced. The guys was friendly. I had the hotdog and it was good. The brioche roll was toasted and the hotdog was juicy. Overall well recommended
