Top score for the food and service, good value for money with the early bird booking if staying in the hotel. Service was fabulous, wine recommendation was perfect. Highly recommend the Crème Brûlée! Really would love to give this restaurant a 5 * as we had such a lovely dinner. However, the decor just felt a little tired. We also realise that work is being done to the building and hopefully it will be back to it former glory once again! We will be back!

Our first time at the Royal hotel Bath. We were delighted to have booked the restaurant for our dinner. The choice, presentation and flavour served by friendly attentive staff was a great experience..we chose wisely. We both chose sirloin steak. It was cooked to our taste and was perfect. We also used same room and staff for our breakfast. The table of goods, the cooked English and the salmon and scrambled eggs - all cooked individually were perfect in every way. We eagerly await another trip to the royal to eat A grateful room 201 customers

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The friendly greeting and attentive service made for a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The food we chose was great tasting and very well presented over all three courses. We would not hesitate to return.

We were staying in The Royal Hotel on a Travelzoo deal which included dinner in the Brasserie Brunel. There was a good choice on the dinner menu, the dishes that we chose were very good and the service provided by the waiting staff was excellent. The cheeseboard was particularly good with plenty of cheese and we finished with a nice glass of port. A very enjoyable evening which we can highly recommend.

Wonderful food, ambience and staff very attentive. Lovely relaxed atmosphere both in the restaurant and bar.

Telephoned on the Thursday to book dinner for 2 the following Monday. Was told they were fully booked. Asked about the Tuesday and told the same. We were staying nearby and had to pass the restaurant on our way to and from the other restaurants we were eating at. Looking in the restaurant window we could see that at 7pm and 9 pm on Monday and Tuesday the restaurant was never more than a quarter full. Obviously did not want our business.

I had traveled from Bristol and planned to have breakfast in this historic hotel arriving at 7am. The night Porter a very amiable chap said breakfast is served from 7.30am. I was refused point blank not only breakfast but also a coffee. We are far too busy to entertain and provide such a service. He advised this is the policy of the Hotel Manager. I was duly directed to other adjacent establishments. Very poor show and attitudes. My investigations from Companies House reveal this Hotel is owned by a private company. I wonder how fellow Directors feel? After Covid and now the cost of living crisis with people spending less do they endorse such a policy refusing my custom and money and moreover the potential of me staying at this hotel in the future? Gives food for thought or the lack of it!

We ate 3 evening meals and 3 breakfasts in this restaurant which is nicely decorated - French bistro style, brass railings, quite dark. Friendly efficient serving staff at all times. There was a good choice at breakfast delivered to your table, high quality bacon and sausages. You were offered 3 types of bread before dinner which were delicious- our meals ranged from good to very good. The first evening was disappointing - grisly steak and very over salted and overcooked duck but the other meals were tasty and well presented. Delicious risotto and puddings. A good choice of reasonably priced wines. It was a popular restaurant which was good to see during these uncertain times.

I had dinner at Brasserie Brunel today with my husband and it was a wonderful experience. The pear and blue cheese tart was the highlight and the sea bass with lemon risotto and the white chocolate creme brûlée were also perfect! The staff were very polite and friendly and the restaurant was very clean, organized and comfortable. I hope I can come back to Bath and pay another visit to Brasserie Brunel very soon.

My Wife and I visited for Lunch. We had 3 courses which were all first class. I would recommend the Beef with Horseradish mash. My Wife has the Lamb which she said was lovely. The service was good as well.

Super food, really well cooked and prepared. We were on a Travelzoo deal for dinner, bed and breakfast and were pleasantly surprised with such great food for both meals, which made it a very good deal indeed. The chicken liver pate and asparagus with a poached egg and Palma ham made good choices for our starters, I then had duck confit, which is one of my favourites, which was very good indeed, while my husband chose chicken breast with a cream and tarragon sauce - he said this was very tasty but could do with a little more sauce. Lovely puddings. Breakfasts next morning were delicious- I had smoked haddock with poached eggs, another favourite and my husband had simple poached eggs and bacon....eggs perfectly cooked. Nice staff, would definitely go back.

The food here is really good. We ate here two days on the trot. The service is great, with lots of nice touches, eg an offer of water for the table and an explanation that the lamb will come pink. If like me you are not a fan of pink lamb you then have the option of asking for it a bit more well done. The pea risotto is beautiful, the lamb rump exceptional and the rib eye steak very tender. As for puddings, the Eton mess is dreamy. This place is well worth a visit.

Nice enough hotel bar/restaurant. Sometimes have to wait a while to get served however the bar staff are friendly and welcoming. They have a good selection of lagers and wine. Serve hot drinks as well as soft drinks. Food is typical pub grub so nothing outstanding. Prices are decent. Location is good as well. Interior decor is very comfortable well maintained.

We went for lunch here as part of a weekend deal packaged with Bailbrook lodge,which was great value . Accompanied by friends, another couple , we had no idea what to expect.We could not have been more pleasantly surprised. The staff were fantastic, so polite and very helpful. Food quality was excellent. Two of us had the lamb,one pork,one steak;all very very good. Would definitely recommend. The only reason for 4 star is that decor may not appeal to all;it's appropriately "Period" in my opinion. Very clean and comfortable . Would definitely go back again. 10 out of 10 for staff deserved.

We visited for a 3 course meal as part of a package with our hotel booking at the Bailbrook Lodge (separate review) for my hubbie’s 50th. There was a good choice on the menu and although I couldn’t have a starter off the separate fixed price menu, I certainly couldn’t grumble at what I did have. I had the pea risotto followed by sirloin steak and the white chocolate and amaretto brûlée. Hubby had the spiced butternut soup, rump steak and tarte au citron. My starter was out of this world. It is also available as a main option and another time I would consider it. The risotto was creamy and very tasty. The soup certainly lived up to the spice in its name. Our steaks were good but both of us had to cut a little chewy fat off. The chip portion was perfect, too many places fill a plate with chips, here they only fill a quarter of the plate. The desserts were delicious and very attractively presented, although the lemon tart could have been a little deeper, the lemon layer was the same depth as the pastry. Still tasty though. Service friendly and unhurried. Oh I mustn’t forget the bread! To start we were given a choice of organic white, wholgrain or olive bread. Hubby had white, I had olive - it was delicious!! Would love to know where it was bought. The olive bread virtually melted in my mouth! Lush!

I'm a veggie so finding nice restaurants is always hard, however, Brasserie Brunel provided me with the worst veggie main meal I have ever had, it was basically plain pasta (without seasoning e.g. salt) with a few tomatoes thrown in, no sauce or anything.
