cote is always reliable but on this visit, to celebrate having paintings hung in the Victoria Gallery, Bath, it was excellent. I had Bacon salads starter, and Steak frites. My partner had the Fish pie, ending the meal with coffees. But, it wasn’t just 5he very well cooked and presented food that was the star, but the lovely waitress. Attentive, thoughtful, not intrusive, sociable, made the visit extra pleasant.

Plenty of competition for brunch in Bath but this was a great experience. Brunch at 9.30. Restaurant was very quiet. Food was delicious: smashed avo and grilled toms on toast with lots seeds and herbs; and the birchermuesli was delicious not too sweet. Excellent coffee, second cup free. Service by our Italian waiter (sorry I didn’t ask your name) was delightful and efficient. Cheaper than our hotel breakfast too!! Great job.

I was disappointed with my recent experience at The Ivy on New Year’s Eve. I had high expectations for the evening, but unfortunately, it did not meet the standard I associate with your establishment. First, I paid £85 per person, this is not what i expected as the menu was advertised online at £75 per person, including a free glass of champagne on arrival. Not only was the pricing inconsistent, but we also did not receive the promised champagne. Additionally, the service was below par. We waited over 30 minutes to receive our cocktails after our dinner. To make matters worse, our creamed spinach was brought out 10 minutes after the main course and was unappetizing—watery and lacking flavour. At no point did the staff check in with us to ask if our food was satisfactory. I understand that New Year’s Eve can be a busy evening, but the issues we encountered were frustrating and detracted from what should have been a memorable celebration.

We should have gone to McDonald's. Booked the Ivy for a special occasion for my wife two weeks before Christmas, unfortunately the food was very poor and not up to standard for the price you pay. The fillet steak was very chewy and the chips were over cooked and tasted of burnt cooking oil, I refused the offer of a small discount and we left to find another restaurant which thankfully saved the evening.

After booking a table near the windows for 3 people, I rang the day before and amended the number to 4. When we arrived, we had been squashed on to a tiny table around a pillar, although there were larger empty unreserved tables near the windows. We moved ourselves to one of these. My friend and I each ordered a green side salad with our main course. When the salads arrived, we discovered that they had no vinaigrette or dressing, and complained. They were eventually replaced. I got the distinct feeling that there was no overall senior eye keeping a sharp eye on the detail. The atmosphere at lunch was convivial, the food OK and the wine better than expected, but the table fiasco and salad irritations detracted from what should have been a jolly New Year experience.

We were the first ones in this morning. We were greeting with a smile and cheerful maître d. However, our server couldn’t manage a smile and seemed a little bit the worse for wear. The coffee was tepid and the plates were cold. The quality of the food was average but given the prices, I expected more. The room is lovely but I’m left with the impression that the organization is coasting on that.

In a word, poor. Service lacking, food not as requested and it just looked like an establishment waiting for the festive period to come to a conclusion. The team just looked and appeared knackered. Far away from the usual standards The Ivy normally delivers. Hopefully just a bad day at the office so to speak.

We did the high tea set menu and it did not disappoint. Sandwiches, scones, desserts all beautiful. Very comfortable with cushions and pillows. Sandwiches and scones: A++ but the desserts were overly sweet, personally. One person took our order and did really well with that, but the staff person switched 3x thereafter, and requests got lost as a result. One couldn’t figure out which tea was in each teapot and handed them out incorrectly 3/3.

I recently visited The Ivy Bath for a Boxing Day meal with some family and friends. We took advantage of their fantastic brunch set menu, which included a welcome drink, arancini to start, as well as a choice of main course, a side and a dessert – all for under £35! The food itself was fantastic, and I enjoyed every bite I had. The arancini were hot and fresh, and my Chicken Milanese was fantastic. I honestly couldn’t fault any element of the meal. The service was exemplary, as you would expect from an Ivy. I always love the buzzy atmosphere and exquisite surroundings of an Ivy – and The Ivy Bath is no exception to this. Its opulent feel really makes it feel a special place. Overall, the whole group had a wonderful meal, and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon out. If you’re looking for a lovely meal out in Bath – The Ivy is a great choice.

We’ve been to the Ivy in Bath twice and, although it was fine, for this price point there are SOOO many better places in Bath. During both visits the restaurant appears to have been over booked. During our first visit (dinner) we were moved from our table to the bar immediately after our desert and our unfinished win bottle ended up being lost. During our second visit (breakfast with visiting family) the squeezed 5 of sun into a too small booth and we could hardly breath. Both times were pre booked. Not the end of the world but for the price we know we can get better service and food elsewhere.

We ordered afternoon tea. The tea was fine, the food looked good, but the cakes tasted a little dry, and the scones were not the best. The sandwiches were good! So I'd give it a 3 there. Unfortunately this restaurant gives an automatic service charge, based on a percentage. This is a horrendous business practice, basically trying to leech money from customers. If it wasn't optional, I'd give this a 1 star, but since I can have it removed, and I did, it's a 2 star.

Went for the expensive 'festive menu.' There was nothing festive about it. Myself and my partner are away for Christmas so wanted a special Christmas night of our own. Small portions of some boil in a bag Turkey, which was definitely made in a factory and just heated up in the kitchen. No welcome drink on arrival included, just extra expensive Christmas cocktail we could buy if we wanted, no crackers on the table, because they had run out. (No one told us, we asked. They didn't apologies. Could have gone to get some from the supermarket, but no. Still charged for them though as part of the 'festive menu.' No Christmas music, no decorations. Staff were miserable. Such disappointment. They don't respect their customers.

Had a cream tea at The Ivy at lunchtime today. A bit random timewise but we had a voucher that had to be used ASAP and we're in Bath so thought we'd use it. Location is great and the service was exceptional!!! Our cream tea was absolutely lovely and not outrageously expensive if we had to pay. Having a sneaky glance at lunchtime offerings on tables around they too looked scrummy! Atmosphere was pleasant as was the interior of the restaurant. All in all thanks to all at The Ivy, Bath. Ate here last week as a party of 6. Ordered the Xmas menu at £50 per two courses or £55 for 3 courses. The starter was fine as was the actual main part of the main course. However, the other elements that accompanied the main were very much below par. The truffle gravy was literally stone cold for all parties and the veg was luke warm and not well cooked (mushy sprouts - eeugh). Upon advising the staff of this the truffle gravy was taken away and returned but was still not hot. The third time they managed to bring it back hot but this took over 20 minutes so was really too late. The veg was also replaced but the sprouts were again overcooked. The bill was reduced by around £25 for all of the above. Given the cost of dining at the Ivy, the least one could expect is decent quality instead of which we were served the standard of food you would expect from a not particularly good local pub. In contrast, I attended a different Xmas meal at Cote Brasserie earlier in the week for over 30 people. The food was spot on despite the much larger numbers and was significantly better value (as was the wine). I have eaten a few times at the Ivy but it now seems just to be an expensive facsimile of what it was.

Extremely disappointed. I booked a table at the bar area that I believed would be a table in the bar area. On arriving we were told everything was ready for us and was taken to the bar, high bar stools not really suitable for eating a 3 course meal. The barman kept asking us to order drinks, we said we were waiting for a table. After 20 minutes no one came to take our order so I asked one of the staff when our table would be ready and she replied that the bar was our table. I said it wasnt what I expected so she took us upstairs to another bar area. After 15 minutes no one came to take our order. The area was cold and not one of staff spoke to us so we left. I didnt expect to have to go to the bar to order food as you would when ordering pub grub. Staff were ignorant.

I like the Ivy, fantastic for a posh night out and celebration. We took my daughter for Breakfast at the Ivy in Bath to celebrate her 16th Birthday. We ordered the set menu breakfast, consisting of a fruit smoothie, pastries with jam, and then a small version of their full english for about £17 per head. The food was fine, as expected. Key complaint was the service, we were a party of 5. When being seated we were offered and ordered tea/coffee etc while we viewed the menu which we ordered at the same time as ordering the breakfasts. To my amazement, the staff then proceeded to ram everything we ordered all on the table at the same time, eventually different waiters almost competing for space on the table somehow making it our problem that there wasn't enough room and spoiling the whole experience. When the fruit smoothies came out about 1 minute after the hot drinks I'd had enough "does everything have to come out all at once, and you've just brought the hot drinks, why do you think we want the cold drinks at the same time?". My wife and kids cringed, referring to me as 'Karen'. I did lose my patience, I'll admit it. When you go somewhere like this you expect an experience, when the menu is laid out in courses, you expect courses, one followed by the other, not all at once. On some occasions, for example in Pizza Express, you're really grateful for prompt service and the food arriving quickly. At the Ivy you expect a more relaxed schedule, and this wasn't that. It's hard to say it ruined the whole thing, but, the service fell way below expectations.

I booked here after visiting before and visiting the Xmas market. My first experience was great hence why I returned. We ordered our drinks and were expecting them to turn up before our meal came. We waited and waited. By the time the drinks arrived so had our food. We had ordered coffees and had to ask the waitress for sugar as none came with our coffees. She returned with the sugar which I’m surprised had no tongs to use. We then noticed we hadn’t been given spoons, so again we had to attract her attention to get the spoons. I think for this type of establishment this is really poor! The food was nice, but nothing out of the ordinary. So would I return? No, if the service was better then maybe. Oh and adding a service charge too? Well I diidn’t pay it so that says it all!

Booked the Ivy for my birthday because I wanted something a bit special. I hate to nitpick but there was no one at reception in the foyer for quite a while and when someone did attend we were told the table wasn't ready, I offered to go away and come back as we were 10 minutes early but the girl went to check if there was seating at the bar which thankfully there was. We were taken to our table 30 minutes late, which was fine because we were enjoying a drink before dinner. The table was a corner seat and was very small and also very close to other diners which kind of made me feel like the other diners had to budge up to make room for me to get into my seat so I had to force my rear end past the table to be seated! There was no way I was going to get up again for the loo!! It was not comfortable and I felt like I was encroaching on the privacy of others as well as being encroached upon! It was like being an after thought and having to make do! Conversations were not private. We ordered olives and sourdough bread while we waited and a bottle of wine. The bread was a whole loaf and was delicious but a lot for two even though we were sharing! The wine was awful and I couldn't drink more than a glass, it was £32 so their most basic but I didn't expect it to be so bad! I ordered fish and chips and my husband ordered the shepherd pie. It took a long time to arrive. When the food came we were both surprised... My plate had very ample portions with a big piece of fish and equally large pot of mushy peas and a big bucket of chips however my husband got a tiny portion of shepherds pie! I felt so bad about it I gave him my chips, we were both very grateful for the bread now!! It was shocking!! It was no bigger than my fist litterally! I've never been to the ivy before and I'm not in a rush to go back. My food was OK, nothing special but my husband did enjoy the pie, he just wandered where the rest of it was! I have to say it was very bad value for money and I felt ripped off, awful experience not to be repeated! I've had better value for money at my local Ember Inn! Staff were friendly but felt forgotten maybe because there were just two of us. Our bill was £134 which included a £15 service charge. Disappointed!!

Just back from dining at the Ivy in Bath and I feel confused and disappointed. My children bought me and my husband a voucher last Christmas for the ‘champagne festive meal’, to the value of £100. We were shown to our table next to a window full of cobwebs and offered the two glasses of fizz. We were then told to order from the festive menu. However, the main menu had the same food offered but cheaper. We assumed this was to cover the two glasses of champagne. We ordered a bottle of still water as that was what was offered , still or sparkling. During the main meal my husband ordered a glass of house red wine, which he said tasted like it had been watered down. However the food was delicious. We got the bill which was £160! I queried the bill as we’d been charged for the 2 glasses of champagne , approx £30. I was told that the offer for the Champagne was no longer available but he’d given me value of the food to the cost of the voucher. For the festive, 2 course lunch was £50 per person. My voucher was for £100, which should have covered our food. I was expecting to pay for the extra glass of wine and the bottle of water. I am very sad and confused about this afternoon and shall not be visiting the Ivy in bath again. What is the point of their vouchers if they don’t honour them.

A Saturday night service. Restaurant 80% full. Initial service was excellent but waned after order was taken. Food excellent if pricey. Odd practice of storing wine bottle away from table resulted in having to ask for our own wine several times. Freshly cooked chips served mixed up with stale chips. We were overcharged £35 which was refunded though sadly with no apology. Not the best this restaurant can do. Maybe we will avoid this big chain for a while and try smaller businesses in Bath who take a little more care of their customers.

Disappointing. Service was achingly slow. Food was mixed: some was good, some rather tired (possibly reheated). Top tip, Ivy Bath: if you're going to keep the wine away from the table, ensure that you refill before the end of the meal and respond to customer requests. If you over charge, have the courtesy to apologize. Don't assume your customers know nothing about food or service. Not the standard of other Ivy restaurants.

Visited for afternoon tea and chips on Sunday afternoon 🍟. The chips arrived a good 10 mins before the afternoon tea and were delicious. Unfortunately the smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches were dry, and the chicken and truffle roll had a very odd taste. The scones were warm, but the clotted cream was in short supply. The other cakes were basic, dry and more like shop bought than homemade. The dry ice was a nice touch. All in all not a patch on the The Ivy Garden Tea we'd enjoyed previously.

Having confirmed gluten free Afternoon Tea was no problem - it was a plain disappointment. Poor quality gf bread sandwiches with hardly any fillings! Regarding cakes there was a 2cm chocolate brownie with dish of fruit conserve. Really gf seemed to mean omitting cakes. The strange thing was there was a small plant pot of soured cream with a garnish of basil. The highlight for both of us was the two fruit scones with jam, cream and a few strawberries. My husband’s comment was however that I hadn’t missed anything special as his cakes were so sweet they over whelmed any flavour! Yes the drama of the ? dry ice was impressive but we were hoping for our Afternoon Tea. Not a good experience and so gluten free customers should avoid the Ivy

Couple of things let the evening down.....food excellent except the vegetable tempura....so very very salty, it was explained that the vegi is kept in salt water and more salt in the batter....but only able to eat 40% and gave up.....found the kitchen slow...on a Monday? Finally the bartender had a habit or using his hand to stroke his hair front to back while working, which for me sitting opposite is no good.....and a place to hang coats would have been great...

Visited for the first time over the weekend. Left feeling underwhelmed. Just didn't live up to what you would expect. Service was average at best, certainly didn't reflect the service charge added to the bill. We eat out in bath regularly and this place comes up short against the competition charging a lot less. Quality of food was ok but just didn't warrant the higher prices.

First time at The Ivy franchise and left with mixed feelings. The opulence of the surroundings did not disappoint! The food (ordered from the a la carte menu) and cocktails were tasty and well put together, albeit on the pricier side. A fillet steak with 2 sides (chunky chips and spinach) came close to £50. The service was however lac lustre - we visited as a party of two and felt somewhat ignored by the staff when compared to the larger dining parties. We were however, served with the same 12.5% service charge on the final bill. The quality of the food / cocktails 9/10, unfortunately the service on this occasion was below average. Won’t be inclined to visit again in a hurry.

I was disappointed with the food we were served last night at the ivy in Milsom street last evening (05/10/24). I had the scallops to start, shepherds pie for my main and sticky toffee pudding for Dessert. The starters were Luke warm, shepherds pie was Luke warm, lumpy meat and the broccoli was undercooked by a mile, it was difficult to cut it and stab it with a knife and fork, I had to pick it up with my hands to bite into it. The dessert was lukewarm warm over baked and not enough sauce to make it sticky. My friends who were eating there for the first time(as I’d raved about it) also had the same experience. Suffice to say we won’t be returning nor recommending the ivy. We’ve eaten far better for a lot less. Your only saving grace was the waitress who was excellent and that why we paid the service charge.

We had the roast dinner today. It was beyond disappointing the beef was old and tough, no seasoning. The roast potatoes was the nicest part of it the rest was bland. 2 roasts 2 drinks cost nearly £100 not worth it at all. Did request the service charge to be removed, not only disappointing food and drinks but extremely slow. Our server was lovely though and I felt for her run off her feet. We won't be back.

Okay, I'm biased. I am an Ivy member, it's that good, and a Gold one at that. I go for breakfasts, lunches and the occasional dinner. You can't fault the place. Impeccable service, impeccable service, great wine, lovely atmosphere, brilliant location. It's a 10/10 and always has been since it opened here years ago.

Beautiful restaurant, food was lovely and well presented. Unfortunately let down by poor service, no matter what Ivy I go to service is disappointing.

Been here before and always had good food, can't fault it. The atmosphere is lovely but the service lacked a little on this occasion. This was only due to asking for the drink menu part way through our meal but no one coming back to us for our order. I appreciate they were fully booked but it took another member of staff just checking if all ok with our food to get a drink ordered. Certainly wouldn't put us off going back again.

I booked afternoon tea for 3 o'clock on Sunday, 29th September for three people. Upon arrival, there was no one at the reception to greet us, which felt a bit disorganised. After being seated, we ordered our drinks, but I was told there was an issue with the coffee machine, so I had to switch to tea. Not a big deal, but a bit of an inconvenience. Things went downhill from there. Our cakes, scones, and sandwiches arrived before our tea, which seemed odd, and despite asking twice for the tea to be served with the food, we ended up waiting 45 minutes. By the time the tea arrived, we had already finished our sandwiches and scones, as we had held off eating the cakes while waiting. Additionally, I had to request extra jam for the scones twice and even had to ask for cutlery for one of the cakes that required a spoon. The service, although the staff were polite, was lacking in attentiveness, which made the whole experience rather disappointing. On the positive side, the venue itself is lovely, and the food and drinks were pleasant. As a nice gesture, we were given a free profiterole since it was my mother's birthday, which was appreciated. However, I was surprised to see a service charge on the bill, considering the level of service we received. All in all, the atmosphere and food were good, but the service needs improvement.

Ian and his team made the one-year before our wedding celebration truly special. His expert knowledge of the wine list, helping me to understand as a novice what options would be best for me without pushing for a more expensive bottle was truly appreciated. The overall staff service and friendliness was above and beyond. And to top it off... As I'm writing this review the staff came over with a happy anniversary dessert completely by surprise! Thank you a million to the staff and chefs, you have made a special evening, truly magical...

We visited for breakfast. The decorations are beautiful and the service was excellent. We ordered eggs Benedict, one with salmon and the other with avocado. Both tasted good.

I was very lucky to stumble across this lil gem in the very heart of Bath. Super atmospheric and the choice of wine by glass is excellent! And thanks to lovely Anetta I ordered a baked camembert with honey and boy that was a perfect dish for a cold rainy lunch! Will be back and definitely recommend

Party of seven went for Xmas lunch this week - was fabulous! The food was fantastic; had the pork belly for starter, beef for main, and ganache for dessert - no exaggeration to say I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. A real treat. Everyone else spoke highly of their experience too. Final word to the service; the young lad who served throughout was attentive, warm and professional. And our French host was lovely too. Look forward to going again.
