Excellent food. So many great choices. The wine selection was also outstanding. Katka our server was fabulous. The dessert was a great finish to the evening- Banana peanut butter parfait. Wow!

Succes a shame. Beautifull place, nice tables, some of the ladies were intrested. Dear owner, please tell your waitresses that the guest is the one Who makes the payment for their salary possible. The size of the dishes are very poor. I will not come back, because the price don't match with the food i got. By the way, remove your " crispy mozzarella " and tell your guest its fried. Raphael scores a 4.7 out of 5. Am I to demanding or are others crazy? Ordered no rocket salad with a dish. Got rocket salad. They were very quick in cleaning the table give you your bill en get out so the next one could come. I expect hart in restaurants not robbery ☹️

Went to this restaurant to have dessert and bottle of wine. Ask the gentleman I am assuming it is the owner who told me the restaurant actually closed and that it opened later than it actually does. I sat outside since 16:36 and when in 17:03 only for him to say they were closed. I actually took a taxi to get there from my hotel just to hear him tell me a blatant lie. I was so embarrassed with myself to think i was so excited to go spend my hard earn money with this arrogant man and the fact that my friends and i actually celebrated my birthday at this restaurant one year. So rude, or maybe it’s because i was a Black woman. You decided to just turn me alway?! I wonder!!! If anyone can keep away from this restaurant please stay away!!!

Outstanding quality from start to finish. Food is executed incredibly well with each plate brilliantly balanced not just in flavour but texture too. Comfortable, warm and friendly environment. Staff very helpful with navigating the wine list and able to tell a story with wines too (good sommeliers do this!) Thanks for looking after us!

We ate here over Easter Bank Holiday, atmosphere and staff were lovely. The food however, was incredibly disappointing, especially as we had been recommended to try it. It was very clear they were running out of food, so were serving half the portion size. Never have we had a starter, main course and cheese board and still been hungry at the end. The flavours weren't good and we had to add salt to everything. The crux - A family of five had all ordered the delicious sounding cauliflower and scallops (emphasis on the S) starter. I overheard the waitress ask the manager if it was okay to serve the starter as there was only one scallop on every plate. The manager gave her the go ahead. These starters were £15 a plate. These poor people paid £65 for 5 scallops, not to mention the other courses. The prices were not reduced. Our own bill was painful! Utterly embarrassing for this Restaurant.

Delicious flavours and inspiration from Italy, France and beyond. If you want a real treat try the mackerel followed by the burger. A quality restaurant to delight your taste buds.

Excellent wine bar. Outstanding wine offerings, opinions and options. Top quality food. Service seemed to tail off slightly towards the end of the night. You'll pay top £ but worth it - highly recommended.

I don't think I ever ate anything as good as I ate on that day in Bath @ Raphael restaurant. And I have eaten in many restaurants around the world. This one is honestly unique. Merci, pour un si bel anniversaire :)

Honestly, fantastic, me and partner went for my birthday and had a lovely time. The food was fantastic and they even brought out a little birthday surprise for me that was lovely. Highly recommend this place, Staff,Food,Wine and all.

We had a lovely meal at Raphael's, would definitely recommend the scallops and fillet steak. The staff are friendly and attentive and the restaurant atmosphere is romantic and relaxed.

Choose Raphael’s from the great photos and reviews. It did not disappoint. Although it was quiet when we ate here the atmosphere was nice and staff really attentive. Food was remarkable too which was the cherry on top. Would highly recommend the beef and everyone to come here too. Will definitely be back next time we’re in the Bath area.

We’ve eaten at Raphael’s before quite a few months ago and had an excellent meal so as we returned to Bath we booked again. It’s a fabulous restaurant near the theatre and a few excellent bars. The service is second to none without being too over the top. The table had some “bites” to start as we were all really hungry. So we ordered some homemade bread and some goujons on cod, incredible flavour and piping hot. A starter of beef hickory smoked croquettes with chipotle mayo was next for a starter , wow delicious and also quite a generous portion size. The main event for all three of us was the prosciutto wrapped pork tenderloin mash and broccoli, again tons of flavour , an absolute treat. This restaurant is an absolute gem , consistently good with great service and a wine list to die for. You have to book in advance

3rd visit, good fixed price pre theatre menu as well as fine a la carte. Close to theatre and Kommedia. Varied wine list and friendly staff. 2/2/24 Visited early evening before a show at the Forum. No longer offering the fixed price menu which is a shame. Took 45 minutes for our mains to arrive, even though the place was not even half full. When they did arrive unfortunately neither was hot and since one was a steak it could not be warmed and we did not have time to wait for another to be cooked. We ordered desserts and I was brought the wrong one, but having waited decided to eat it anyway. Lucky I do not have a peanut allergy since it contained peanut butter ice cream and our server had not checked for any allergies. To be fair when I pointed out the error the cost was removed from our final bill, which ended up £72 for 2 mains and 1 dessert which did not seem like good value. Plenty of other venues in Bath so this will probably be my last visit to Raphael.

We visited Bath last week and had an excellent dinner! Starter bites were really delicious and all our mains were very good, steaks, pork and a beef dish. Highly recommend.

What a shame! Beautiful looking restaurant and we were incredibly excited to go. Unfortunately the staff member who greeted us took one look at us, essentially turned their nose up and offered us a table by the entrance with a wet floor sign leaning up against it. Totally understand the restaurant might have been fully booked, however it was apparent they didn’t want our custom; there was no effort to make the table look appealing or even offer to remove the sign.

This was our second return after coming here for an anniversary previously and once again they did not disappoint. Our excitement to return was fulfilled with one again outstanding service, food and environment, we are yet to find any faults with Raphael. This return was for my Birthday with my partner and on this occasion I chose to have the very delicious pig cheek starter followed by the beef main. Beautifully presented and bursting with flavours, all the staff were friendly as we expected and attentive to our needs, the atmosphere on this night as warm as before yet this evening we came on a weekday. We shall return again.. and again.. and again. Please never stop what you are doing here as it is by far the best restaurant in Bath and we highly recommend it to everyone.

Simple amazing and outstanding. Second time coming here and have to say the service, food, tastes and flavour just 5*****. Anniversary was September 2023 and birthday meal for my partner in February 2024. We will continue coming back here. Never seems to disappoint and being in the heart of Bath Town is an added bonus. The food at Raphael’s cannot be beaten! We stumbled across this little restaurant on a very rainy evening but couldn’t have received a more warm welcome. The wine menu is extensive catering for every pocket and taste. Our food was amazing - hubbie had scallops, I had roast cauliflower with satay sauce followed by steak (cooked perfectly) and halibut with tomato and chickpea stew - please leave room for dessert though - I have never tasted a banana and peanut butter parfait like theres!

My partner picked this restaurant for Valentines weekend when visiting Bath. It’s cosy and traditional inside. Good choice of wine. The food was amazing and the service was great from a young lady despite it being busy. It’s a shame it’s so far away from us.

This is our first choice of restaurants whenever we go to Bath. The food is always delicious, the wine choice is vast, and never disappoints. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly welcoming. Looking forward to our next visit.

We have recently moved to Bath and have been experiencing the various restaurants and eateries and Raphaels was highly recommended. That said, I was totally disappointed with the Sirloin steak and the chips that i ordered today. I asked for a medium steak and the outer layer of the steak was burnt and it had no flavour. The chips were hard on the inside. I was tempted complain, but it would have meant eating on my own, which would have defeated the objective of having dinner with my wife. We've eaten at the Hudson and the Herd in Bath, and their steaks were amazing. If you are into wine, then I am sure that you'll find something for your pallet, but avoid the Sirloin steak.

Friendly staff and great, tasty food that would be worthy of five stars if the portion sizes were bigger.

We've enjoyed having lunch pre-theatre at Raphael's for many years but this was our first visit for some time. We shared the crab and lobster starter which was nice but both our mains courses were very ordinary. The bubble and squeak with the chicken dish was pretty awful (barely eatable) and the burger was not very nice and I couldn't eat it all. We each had the pavlova as dessert. This was served in a supermarket-bought (not home made) meringue, which had no marshmallow inside as pavlova should have and virtually no cream. The berries were ok. We had a glass of wine each and espresso to finish which were fine as was the service. Overall the meal left us feeling very disappointed - this was simply not up to Raphael's standard. With 10% compulsorily added to the bill, the bill of £114 was a real shocker. Restaurant prices have all gone up since Covid but for us Raphael's have now priced them selves out of our reach and with pretty rubbish food as well we will not be coming back which is such a shame as this used to be one of Bath's best restaurants and so convenient for the theatre. Question: Why do retaurants compulsorily add a service charge to bills? Why can't they inlcude service in the bill? The added 10% adds a nasty sting in the tail to an already nasty bill. And surely restaurants should be paying their staff a living wage without having to add a surcharge to the bill? Let the prices on the menu be final prices please!

We went to the restaurant for my partner’s birthday and we managed to get a table for two without booking beforehand, it being a weekday it wasn’t overly busy but it did gradually fill up quite a bit so I would recommend booking to avoid disappointment. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our server was very informative and polite (I did not get her name but she mentioned that she is from Zimbabwe, I hope she knows she made us feel very comfortable!). I would definitely visit again as the food was to die for and the atmosphere was cosy and welcoming.

Amazing meal with attentive service with a fine dinning atmosphere. My fiancé and I shared the scallops and lobster for starters and had the steak for mains which was cooked to our liking. It was a real treat for our 1 night stay in Bath. Great for couples wanting a romantic night out.

My wife and I had an outstanding dinner here on a rainy Saturday. I had the chicken with bubble and squeak, and the wife had the hake — which was the real star of the show. Combined with tasty cocktails and friendly service and we had a wonderful night.

Booked here for a date night after reading reviews and was not disappointed. The wine list is phenomenal & so many options by the glass. The fact that the food is also as phenomenal as the wine list is a brilliant bonus. And great service. Highly recommended

Exceptional food and service. Everything from the appetisers, the mains and the dessert was truly outstanding. Even if you aren't hungry, just pop in and try their cheesecake. We came here on spec for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The ambience is good and the staff are friendly and attentive. Starters of Seared Scallop with apple, pomegranate, cucumber, chilli, endive far exceeded my expectations. Another starter of Mushroom noodles – shiitake mushrooms, Chinese spiced egg noodles, garlic, onion, Shimeji was also good, although we felt a tad over salty because chef had used too much soy and/or salt. A main of Pork tenderloin with prosciutto, pearl barley, butternut squash and wild mushrooms was also of note. Another really good restaurant in Bath!

We stopped here just for a drink and some olives, service was absolutely superb, (table and drink within a minute or 2) will return to try some food!

Probably the best meals we have eaten this year. Menu was interesting with plenty of variety of choice. Service from all the staff from owner to waitresses was uniformly excellent. They all cared about making our evening special. As the restaurant is Italian owned, and Italian hospitality has been honed for over 2000 years, this should not have been a surprise.

Very central location with a casual and relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed our dinner very much and also appreciated the good choice of wines, many available by the glass. The pulled pork burger was delicious and the cheese board was very generous! We'll return.

We try to come to Bath at least once a year because we love it so much, but every time we do come we always visit Rafaels because it never seems to disapoint. The service is always on point aswell as the food, we both love eating out in nice places and I have to say this is in our top 3 by far.

One of the best restaurants we have ever eaten in. Exquisite food, wonderful service and a really lovely atmosphere.

(Avoid this restaurant, they are selective on who they serve) We were excited to visit this restaurant as recommended by friends who had mentioned the dessert they had was fantastic when visiting. We had dinner elsewhere, equally as nice, but wanted to try the dessert. We went inside and waiting a solid 2 minutes to be greeted, they did see us at the door I might add and when we were greeted it honestly did not feel genuine. Also whilst we were waiting we had a lot of unwelcoming looks from the patrons. We were in normal clothing attire, nothing ‘fancy’ so nothing to stare at. We asked if we could have dessert and drinks as it was towards the end of the evening (approximately 8.30pm) and was met with a clear, no madam thats not possible, (he told us twice rudely whilst smiling) along with some other mumbling. More than half the restaurant was empty, there were lots of seats, a part from the obvious observation that we were people of colour and everyone else in the restaurant including the server was caucasian. This speaks volumes and the gut feeling I had of low key racism as soon as I walked in. We turned around and walked out feeling extremely disappointed. Its a restaurant serving food, we want the food and were happy to pay, there was plenty of seating - simple right?! You are a little restaurant in a little city, think twice before ‘selecting’ who you want to serve. We will not be recommending you to anyone. Atmosphere is equally as important as food.

Really one of the best meals I have eaten. Really professionally produced classic dishes. Fine dining with the fuss and cost. One of the few proper, restaurants in Bath. Central and in attractive premises. Worth a specials journey to sample the food.

Deliciously tasty classic dishes, beautifully presented, full of clever use of flavour and texture, which give a special stamp to the food. Good quality wine by the glass. It is one of the few restaurants we could find in Bath which was not attached to a pub. "Fine dining" without the fuss and cost, in attractive premises in the centre of town. It is worth a special journey to sample the food.

My starter, Tuna tartar with water melon was nicely presented but, at least in my view, the flavours didn't work. The sirloin steaks I and my son had were very poor. The meat was well cooked but the beast must have been at least 100...

Lovely food. Lovely wine. Rarely do you get food that tastes "decent" in this country, but Raphael is way above. Would recommend.

We enjoyed a superb 3 course post-theatre dinner with friends. The food is excellent - I had scallops followed by pork belly and finished off with blueberry cheesecake. All were absolutely delicious. And there is an extensive wine list too. The service was great and there is a really good atmosphere too. I thoroughly recommend it.
