Bouvardia, a beautiful fine dining restaurant set in the hills just outside Bath city centre. The stunning presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail is evident from your approach; the aesthetics have been polished down to last detail. The grounds are intimately sized: with only ten tables offered, the service is quick and attentive meaning your food is fresh and hot! There is a beautiful lounge and bar area adjacent to the main restaurant. Attached is Bathen House Hotel and while we didn’t stay, I can only imagine the suites are similarly high quality. The staff were immediately welcoming and attentive throughout our meal, knowing when to approach and when to give you space - perfect for an intimate date night! The food, from starters to desserts, was delicious. Each dish was clearly designed with love; the palette and textures were perfectly balanced. Each umami base note was cut with a bright burst from a garnish or dressing. The richness balanced with delicate, aromatic notes. Whether you’re a bit of a food snob or you just enjoy getting out for a nice meal, you’ll appreciate this menu. We ordered the miso aubergine and tomato, and feta fritters to start; porcini risotto, and sea bass as mains; cardamom and rhubarb panna cotta, and chocolate orange torte with blood orange sorbet to finish. On the side we had dauphinoise potatoes, and tenderstem broccoli with anchovy dressing. My favourites were the miso aubergine and the cardamom and rhubarb panna cotta. The aubergine was perfectly charred, smoky and nutty with the sesame adding some textural interest to the bite. The paired caramelised walnut with the bright slivered radish was DIVINE. The cardamom cream had a deliciously biscuity profile, with an unbelievably juicy, fruity finish. The only, very minor, negative I could offer is that our sides could have done with a bit of something extra. The dauphinoise was just slightly on the dry side on the inner layers (though I really appreciated that it wasn’t drowning in heavy cream!), and the brocolli could’ve done with some more of the anchovy dressing. Even the house wines were leagues above the usual offerings! Overall, I’d have to give our experience 5 stars, we really couldn’t fault it. Thank you for having us!

What a lovely evening! The food we ordered at Bouvardia was amazing, all very nicely presented. The homemade sourdough with honey butter was delicious. I also particularly enjoyed my duck breast and my partner loved his sticky toffee pudding desert! The service was very good, the waiters and waitresses all very pleasant and attentive. There’s only 9 tables available in the restaurant so the whole experience feels very intimate and ‘exclusive’. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something special!

We were kindly invited by the team at Bouvardia to come and dine at their restaurant this weekend. From the moment we entered we were struck by the elegance and sophistication of the restaurant, and the superb service and attention to detail from the staff. We arrived for the start of dinner service at 17:30, something we would highly recommend as we were able to enjoy seeing the restaurant sparkle in the sunlight, as the modern decor boasts stunning skylights and a dazzling mirror wall. This intimate dining room then played host to a wonderful evening of food and drink that were beautifully presented and extremely tasty in equal measure! 🥖 Homemade Organic Stone Baked Sourdough with Honey Butter (£8) Loved the sweet and delicate notes of the honey in the butter and the crunch of freshly baked bread! 🥓 Braised Pork Cheek with Fennel and Chilli Salad and Pork Jus (£14) This was the showstopper dish of the day for us and really set the tone for the rest of the meal! It melted in the mouth and had a wonderful smokey flavour. 🍆 Miso Aubergine with Toasted Walnuts and Den Miso Sauce (£10) Another favourite from our visit! It had a rich umami flavour which stimulates the palate and the accompaniments gave it a nice crunch. 🥘 Duck Breast with a Plum Glaze, Candied Orange and a Red Wine Jus (£27) The duck was cooked medium, it was tender and succulent and had a lovely crisp and flavoursome skin. The sauce was rich, fruity and really moreish! 🐟 Fillet of Sea Bass with Mint Salsa Verde, Crispy Mussels and Preserved Lemon Garnish (£29) Lovely flakey fish with crispy skin, the lemon came through nicely and the mint packed a nice punch! We also loved the contrast between the soft fish and the crunch of the mussels. 🍽️ To accompany our mains we ordered: Garlic and Parsley Crushed New Potatoes (£6)- lovely, fresh and herby! Grilled Vegetables with Pesto (£6)- we really enjoyed the charred flavour of these, especially on the cabbage. 😋 No meal is complete without dessert so we ordered: 🍫 Dark Chocolate and Orange Torte with a Hazelnut Crumb Base and Coconut Sorbet (£11) The torte has a subtle orange flavour which I really enjoyed as it wasn’t at all artificial or overpowering. It was incredibly rich so the portion size was perfect! The coconut sorbet was nice and sweet and complimented the dark chocolate flavours. The candied orange garnish was also very tasty! 🍰 Sticky Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce and Chantilly Cream (£13) We were blown away by how light and fluffy this was as often sticky toffee pudding can be quite dense. The butterscotch sauce was so delicious we could drink it!! 🍷 For drinks we were recommended by our server to order the Sauvignon Blanc as it pairs well with the Seabass and she was absolutely correct! It had fresh, peachy undertones and complimented the fish nicely. We also ordered a light and fruity Australian Rose which paired well with the duck!

On Saturday evening, my partner and I dined at Bouvardia Restaurant. Our first impressions of the place were that it was cosy, intimate, and has great ambience; perfect for date night or a lovely dinner out with a friend. We had 3 courses and 1 side each. To start, I ordered the salmon tartar, which was served with avocado purée and pickled cucumber. The salmon tasted fresh, and its texture was a great accompaniment against the creamy avocado. This was a light yet flavourful dish that set high expectations for the rest of the meal. My partner started with the beef brisket and smoked mozzarella ravioli. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked, which was complimented well by the rich tomato sauce served with it. Both of our mains were incredible. I went for the wild mushroom wellington; the pastry was so delicate and airy against the delicious filling. The mushroom ketchup brought on some interesting flavours that worked well. I think this was my favourite course as it exceeded my expectations, especially with it being a vegetarian meal. I had the garlic and parsley crushed new potatoes on the side, which was a very generous portion. I probably could’ve done with more garlic on the potatoes but was still tasty, nonetheless. My partner ordered the chicken supreme, which was so juicy and succulent. The parsley pesto that came with it was also a nice touch. He paired this was with the truffle and parmesan fries. Again, this was a very generous portion, and you can’t go wrong with these! Of course, we had to get dessert, so I opted for the poached pear. This was such a lovely and cosy wintry dish to end the night with, especially with the cinnamon flavours. My partner got the chocolate fondant, which was scrumptious; this was paired well with the black cherry ice cream, which was divine! Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and everything was faultless. Food was at a high standard, and every dish was beautifully presented on the plate. Staff were also polite and very enthusiastic about the food. This meal has been the best I’ve had in a while, so if you are in Bath and enjoy fine dining with a relaxed vibe, then please visit Bouvardia Restaurant! Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

I recently visited Bouvardia, a small intimate restaurant on the outskirts of Bath city centre. From the moment we stepped in, it was clear they cared for their establishment. It was clean, the decor was lovely, and the waiters were friendly. My partner and I both started with the smoked duck breast with blue cheese cream. It was very nice, although I think the blue cheese flavour could have stood out more. For mains, we shared the pan-fried monkfish with octopus and the hazelnut-crusted venison. The monkfish was flavoursome and definitely my favourite. The venison wasn’t as tender as I had hoped but was still enjoyable. We also ordered winter buttered greens and garlic and parsley crushed new potatoes, which were both delicious and generously portioned. We both thought the star of the show was the chocolate fondant, which was incredibly tasty. The black cherry ice cream was a great pairing, though I wish I had a bigger scoop

A stunning restaurant situated on the outskirts of Bath. Perfect if you are after a private evening. With only 9 tables the atmosphere took a while to developed as a few more people entered. The service was good, I think the waiter was new and slightly nervous. The star of the show was the food, all well presented and each element of the dishes were perfect together. I recommend the venison, I have never had anything like it and the sauce it came with was incredible. The chocolate fondant was also delicious! Overall a lovely evening.

Fantastic evening from start to finish - Arrived for our booking at 8pm, there was not a lot of space in the carpark however we easily found free parking on the street outside. The entrance & decor is stunning and really sets the tone for the evening. We were gutted that we couldn’t see how beautiful the outfit of the venue was as it was dark when we arrived. Coats were taken and we chose the best seat free by the window and the fountain. The host was great and helped give us recommendations on the food. Between us, my friend and I had the goats cheese and duck breast for starters - both tasty however I was expecting the duck to be served hot rather than cold (still tasted great but was a surprise). For mains we had the venison and monkfish with octopus - both things we would not usually go for but both were stunning and cooked to perfection with the sauces matching amazingly. We also went for the dauphinoise (recommended by the host) and the winter greens. Pudding we decided on the fondant and the pistachio ice-cream which were both also amazing. We were then given the time to relax, chat away and finish our wine. We left feeling a good level of full after a lovely evening - thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome!

I had the pleasure of dining at Bouvardia in Bath, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The restaurant exudes elegance and vibrancy while maintaining a wonderfully intimate and relaxing atmosphere. It’s the perfect setting for a special occasion or simply a refined evening out. The service was outstanding —professional, attentive, and unhurried, allowing us to fully enjoy the evening. The waitresses were not only efficient but also engaging, making for lovely conversation that added to the warm ambience, which is rare these days. As for the cuisine, it was simply excellent. The beef brisket and mozzarella ravioli were incredibly tender and bursting with rich flavours, but the true highlight was the beef sirloin—cooked to absolute perfection, melting in the mouth with every bite. Each dish was beautifully presented and clearly crafted with care and high-quality ingredients, which really showed. I’d highly recommend Bouvardia to anyone visiting Bath. If you have the time, consider booking a room as well—the breakfast is reportedly just as impressive, making for a complete and indulgent experience. I will definitely be returning, and I really appreciate the opportunity to have this experience. Thanks to Mike and his team. Jon

Incredible 🤩🤩🤩 one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had! Such an intimate dining room with only about 10 tables which makes it feel even more romantic!! The staff were so attentive and lovely, and the whole atmosphere felt elegant! Now for the food: Homemade Sourdough & Honey Butter - Who knew bread and butter could be so tasty!! The bread was warm and went perfectly with the honey butter 🧈 nicest butter I’ve ever had!!! Beef Brisket & Smoked Mozzarella Ravioli - This was so flavoursome! The beef melted in your mouth, the crispy onions added a nice crunchy texture and the tomato and paprika sauce complemented it all perfectly 🍅 I couldn’t taste the mozerella amongst all the other flavours, although it was still delish! Smoked Duck Breast - Really soft and tender, cooked to perfection! The blackberry and candied walnut complimented the flavours so well!! We aren’t usually the biggest fan of blue cheese but this crème worked with the dish, although slightly overpowering if we added too much 🧀 Hazelnut Crusted Loin of Venison - WOW this was incredible!! Highlight of the meal for me! The venison was so flavoursome, pink in the middle which was perfect 🥩 the sauce was delicious!!! So rich and tasted like a red wine jus, my favourite! I wouldn’t usually eat beetroot but the sweetness balanced the flavours of the meat perfectly! Not sure about the hazelnut crust but I’m sure someone who loves nuts would have appreciated it! Pan Fried Monkfish - First time trying monkfish and octopus but we were very pleasantly surprised 🐙 we were expecting the octopus to be chewy but it wasn’t at all!! It was cooked to perfection! The white wine sauce was incredible and made the dish, it was delicate and light which worked so well! Garlic & Parsley Crushed New Potatoes - Can’t go wrong with these, nice and soft and coated in garlic butter and parsley! Delish 🧄 Dauphinoise Potatoes - Again, so tasty! Creamy, cheesy and garlicky!! I personally like my dauphinoise swimming in cream however my partner prefers them to be less watery like these were 🥔 Chocolate Fondant - Loved this!! The saltiness in the chocolate enhanced the flavour and the black cherry ice cream complemented it perfectly 🍒 so nearly swapped it for vanilla, I’m very glad we didn’t!

Me and my partner tried Bouvardia, which is a fine dining restaurant located in Bath. We went for a 3 course meal a 2 sides. Looking at the menu I was a bit sceptical, as it is quite condensed it was still incredible. The restaurant itself is quite small but quiet and quite intimate. I wouldn’t say it’s somewhere you’d bring a family and it’s a very relaxing environment. There were only 9 tables in the actual restaurant itself but still didn’t have a cramped feeling. I went for the Beef Brisket & Smoked Mozzarella Ravioli to start, followed by the Chicken Supreme with a side of Dauphinoise Potatoes. Finishing off with a Chocolate Fondant. We started with some sourdough bread which was perfectly cooked and warm, complimented by some honey butter which melted so well and was actually some of the best butter I think I have ever tasted! The meal definitely started off on a high! Beef Brisket Ravioli - The brisket was super tender and the Tomato sauce was surprisingly sweet so it complimented it really well. Topped off with some crispy onions which were nice and light to finish off. Duck Breast - The duck breast was tender, refreshing. The freshness from the blue cheese crème was set off by the blackberries and walnuts. Chicken Supreme & Dauphinoise potatoes - the chicken was so juicy and tender. I didn’t massively the caponata as it was a bit sweet for my liking but everything else was delicious. The dauphinoise potatoes had a lush crispy top which was nice and crunchy against the soft peppery potatoes. Pork & crushed garlic potatoes - The red wine sauce with the pork was a a perfect amount of sweetness mixed with the apple coulis. The Pork itself was very tender and flavourful. Chocolate fondant - The level of chocolate in the fondant was perfect. Not overpowering and not lacking flavour. There was a nice crisp to the outside which made the centre even more gooey. The cherry ice cream was homemade but I wasn’t overly blown away. This was nice but I would have loved a bit more ooomph of cherry but still nice! Poached pear - This pudding was lovely but the rum sauce was quite a lot. Everything went well together and gave us a winterry sort of vibe. We also stayed at Batten House (the hotel attached to the restaurant) and had breakfast the next morning which is served between 8am - 10am. The breakfast had a choice of Continental and Cooked breakfasts. There was a great selection at the continental stand such as Pastries, cereals, fresh fruit, juices and the choice of tea and coffees. For a hot breakfast you have lots of choices. I had the Breakfast waffle and berries and the waffle was amazing and the berries were super fresh. My partner had the eggs Benedict and our server accepted our requests for changes to our breakfast no problem! You can tell all the food is fresh and cooked so well. The staff themselves were wonderful and super lovely! You can also tell the staff enjoy working here and take pride in working at Bouvardia which is lovely to see. Overall the food was incredible and if I’m ever coming through Bath I will be making a pitstop here for sure!

Bouvardi is a true hidden gem in Bath. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm and attentive service. The restaurant, nestled within a charming hotel, has a beautifully relaxed atmosphere—perfect for a special occasion or a refined dining experience. The food was exceptional. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and packed with rich, well-balanced flavors. I love that they have a seasonal menu to showcase the best ingredients. Although the restaurant was quiet during our visit, it only added to the intimate and peaceful ambiance. I cannot really comment on the atmosphere during busy periods. The staff were incredibly professional and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive. If you’re looking for an elegant dining spot in Bath that delivers both in service and food quality, I highly recommend Bouvardi. A perfect choice for a special occasion, or simply to enjoy a fantastic meal. I can’t wait to return and see what’s on the menu next. As this restaurant isn’t in the centre of Bath by all the shops, it’s out the way and also has parking.

I was kindly invited to try a 3 course meal at Bouvarida in Bath. Situated within a luxury boutique hotel not far from the centre of Bath. We were welcomed with big friendly smiles, service that made us feel relaxed and at home. While the decor is slightly old fashioned, it was still very elegant and everything was presented beautifully. We began with their homemade baked sourdough paired with honey butter. It was sooo tasty, though I must admit, I wished for more than one slice! (Perhaps a tad greedy) For starters, we enjoyed the smoked duck and the beef brisket and smoked mozzarella ravioli. The ravioli was our favourite- bursting with flavour and a fantastic way to start our meal. For my main course, I chose the chicken supreme, accompanied by the chicken croquette, caponata, and parsley pesto. The dish was a harmonious blend of flavours, with each ingredient complimenting the others perfectly. While the croquette was slightly dry and overdone, the chicken itself was cooked to perfection. Dessert was the highlight of our meal. My partner adored the poached pear with cinnamon cake and ice cream. While I savoured the chocolate fondant. We opted for vanilla ice cream instead of the usual pairing, which balanced the richness of the fondant beautifully. Overall our experience was great!

The waiters were very polite and friendly and gave us recommendations. We were delighted the quality of the food (was told they use local produce and the menu that changes with the seasons) - my son said the beef ravioli was so good that he wants to come and have it everyday! The chicken was one of the most tender and tastiest I have had in a very long time Half way through our meal we were already saying we need to come back for dinner to try the regular menu! Quite surprised most people we told about have not heard about it, a true hidden gem in Bath!

Wow, what a beautiful place. The staff were so friendly and just wanted to help in any way. We were mostly served by one lady (I didn't get her name) and she was excellent at her job, made us feel so welcome. The restaurant itself was lovely, just a really nice space with windows everywhere. It was dark when we were there but I imagine it would be great in the summer with all that natural light. We started with some pale ale, a fruity rosé and sourdough bread with honey butter. The drinks were good and we loved the sweetness of the butter on the bread though it was a bit hard for spreading. For starters we had butternut soup and brisket ravioli - lovely flavours. The richness of the sauce in the ravioli made my tongue tingle! For mains we had mushroom wellington, beef sirloin and added dauphinoise potatoes and crushed new potatoes for sides. This was flavour paradise, we really were amazed by all of it, absolutely delicious! For what look like small plates of food, I really was getting full by the middle of this. For dessert, we both had the chocolate fondant with cherry ice cream and shared a glass of the dessert wine. Perfect dessert, my partner said it was the best dessert he'd ever eaten at a restaurant. If you're going for dessert or even if you feel you can't, go for the dessert wine as it is gorgeous and the right amount of sweet! We really had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. My only small gripe with the place was the parking situation as the car parks are very small and do say for overnight guests only so maybe you are supposed to park on the street to the side?

I was kindly invited to experience a 3 course meal at the wonderful Bouvardia restaurant in Bath. You can find this beautiful place within Bathen house, a luxury boutique hotel about 10 minutes drive from the centre of Bath. On arrival, I was immediately impressed by the decor and intimate setting. To start, we shared stonebaked sourdough bread with honey butter. We also had goats cheese mousse and beef brisket and smoked mozzarella ravioli. The ravioli was perfectly cooked and I particularly enjoyed the smokiness of the mozzarella along with the rich flavour of the tomato sauce. My husband enjoyed the goat's cheese mousse but suggested that they serve some bread with it for texture. For main course, we had hazelnut crusted sirloin of beef and chicken supreme. The beef was outstanding. Compliments to the chef 👏 such an interesting flavour combination. It worked so well. We had garlic and parsley crushed nee potatoes and truffle and parmasan fries on the side. Still thinking about the fries, they were gorgeous! For dessert, we had poached pear and chocolate fondant. I had the poached pear and actually found the rum sauce a little overpowering and tasted a little of aniseed. I swapped with my husband for the chocolate fondant, which was lovely but lacked the gooey centre I'd have expected. I couldn't really taste the black cherry in the ice cream which was a shame. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and I would definitely recommend a visit.

We had a lovely 3 course meal here on Saturday and had such a fantastic evening. Can’t wait to come back and I would definitely recommend if you want a lovely date night ❤️ The venue was super cosy, romantic and welcoming. It’s inside a hotel, but if you’re coming for the restaurant, it’s incredibly warm and welcoming. Thank you so much to the lovely Kate who was super attentive and friendly whilst hosting us for the night 😄 🥖 🧈 We first started with the Organic Stone Baked Sourdough with Honey Butter. The bread tasted incredibly fresh and the butter was really tasty and added a sweet touch which I’ve never had before! For starters: 🍝 I had the Beef Brisket Ravioli which was incredible! It was perfectly cooked and was super generous with the tender beef filling. Was very plentiful for a starter! 🍽️🧀 My partner had the Smoked Duck Breast which was also a very decent portion and incredibly tender. Special shout out to the Blue Cheese Crème that was put on the side of this dish, it really made it and went so well with the Duck! For Mains: 🥩 The Hazelnut Crusted Sirloin of Beef was insane! It was super filling and was cooked absolutely perfectly, meaning it wasn’t chewy at all and was full of flavour. I’ve also never had anything with a hazelnut crust and it was really really good! It came with Beetroot Cream and Venison Jus and this went incredibly well with the beef. I would really recommend this dish if you come!! 🍗 The Chicken Supreme was an incredibly generous portion size! My partner really liked the Parsley Pesto which came with this which was a nice touch. Sides: 🥦 🥬 The Buttered Spring Greens were a perfect side to have with such filling food. They were perfectly cooked and tasted really fresh. 🍟 We had to try the Truffle and Parmesan Fries and these did not disappoint. Desert: 🍫 To finish off the evening I had the Chocolate Fondant (with an added bonus of having some delicious black cherry ice cream which was with this). This was sooooo incredible and super rich and chocolatey. 🍨 My partner had the homemade ice cream which he said was lovely! Overall we had such a pleasant experience, it had a lovely atmosphere and we’ve already recommended this to family and friends for special occasions 🩷

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here due to the excellent food and great service from all the staff. The food is so well thought out, every dish is beautifully presented and cooked so so well. My Venison literally melted in my mouth! Again, breakfast in the morning was great. There was a ‘help yourself’ station with lots of fresh fruit, yogurts and cereals and then you could also order a hot breakfast too. I went for the eggs royale and my partner had the full English.. both really really good! Overall we had a great stay here and the food just made it! Bouvardia recently came onto my radar and as an absolute foodie, I knew I needed to try it. Situated inside the Bathen house hotel, this intimate restaurant hosts 10 tables at one time, making it one of Bath’s most exclusive dining rooms. We opted for a glass of the house wine which honestly tasted like a much higher end wine than most house glasses. To start, we had the sourdough and honey butter which was amazing. Onto the starters I had a beef and mozzarella ravioli which had some little shallot rings on top which were an unusual garnish for pasta, but it worked really well! My husband had duck with a blue cheese cream which he loved. We both had venison for a main which was coated in a hazelnut crumb. I can not tell you how happy this meal made me. Do you ever eat a meal and you just know it’s something you’re going to spend years thinking about? Well that’s what this venison will be to me. So perfectly cooked with the most imaginative flavours. You can tell I’m passionate about it haha. We shared some roast heritage carrots and parsnips and dauphinoise on the side which made up a very winter comfort meal. For dessert we both ordered the chocolate fondant which was the most home made fondant I’ve probably ever had out (in the best kind of way) and it was served with a chocolate crumb and ice cream. Once again, just delicious. On top of some really incredible food, the staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating. I’d really recommend this place if you’re looking for a special evening.

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of enjoying a spectacular three-course meal at the Bouvardia Restaurant, located in Bathen House Hotel. Nestled on the outskirts of Bath city centre, this fine dining restaurant boasts a carefully curated British menu with traditional flavours and fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We started with Homemade Sourdough which accompanied the Beef Brisket and Smoked Mozzarella Ravioli, and the Smoked Duck Breast with Blue Cheese Crème, Blackberry and Candied Walnut. For the main course, we shared the Pork Tenderloin with Black Pudding, Apple Coulis, and Red Wine Sauce, alongside the Hazelnut-Crusted Loin of Venison with Mushroom Dust, Beetroot Cream, and Venison Jus. The Venison was a personal highlight, as pleasing to the eye as it was to the palate. The Garlic and Parsley Crushed New Potatoes and Buttered Winter Greens were perfect sides, offering a harmonious balance of flavours and textures. For dessert, we enjoyed the Chocolate Fondant with Salted Chocolate Truffle, Chocolate Soil and a showstopping Black Cherry Ice Cream. The homemade ice cream was velvety smooth with a naturally sweet, delicate cherry flavour. We also shared the Honey Tuile with Spiced Fruit Pastille, Yogurt Foam and Almond Praline which was a light, refreshing finish to the meal. Beyond the food, the staff were warm, attentive, and professional, ensuring we felt completely at ease throughout our experience. The elegant interior provides a charming and calm ambience, making it the perfect setting for celebrating a special occasion or enjoying a romantic date night.

We had a truly wonderful dining experience at Bouvardia on a recent Friday evening. From the moment we stepped inside, we were struck by the calm and luxurious atmosphere. The décor was elegant yet inviting, creating a warm and intimate setting that made the evening feel special. The view of the beautifully lit fountain outside added a serene and sophisticated touch to the overall ambience. The soft lighting and gentle background music further enhanced the relaxing environment, making it an ideal spot for a special occasion or an indulgent meal. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The waitstaff were not only attentive but also genuinely friendly and welcoming. They struck the perfect balance between being professional and personable, ensuring we felt well looked after without ever feeling rushed. They were also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful recommendations and guiding us through the different dishes with enthusiasm. It was clear that they were passionate about the food, which made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. To start, we opted for two very different but equally delicious appetizers. One of us had the duck breast served with a rich and creamy blue cheese sauce. The cheese had a strong, punchy flavor that complemented the perfectly cooked, tender duck beautifully. The combination was indulgent yet well-balanced, offering a wonderful depth of taste. The other starter was a salmon tartare, which was incredibly fresh and expertly seasoned. The delicate texture of the salmon, paired with an avocado cream made for a light yet flavorful dish that was a perfect way to begin the meal. For our main courses, one of us chose the monkfish, which was served alongside octopus, confit garlic purée, and a white wine velouté. The fish was perfectly cooked, with a firm yet tender texture, and the velouté added a beautifully smooth and velvety richness. The octopus was also expertly prepared, tender rather than chewy, and the combination of flavors worked really well to create a dish that was thoroughly enjoyed. The other main course was a venison dish that featured a crunchy hazelnut crust. This dish was a real highlight—the venison was cooked to perfection, beautifully tender, and full of deep, rich flavors. The hazelnut crust added a nice different texture and a nuttiness that paired well with the gamey notes of the meat. To round off our meal, we opted for two desserts that perfectly suited the winter evening. The cheese board featured a selection of local cheeses. The other dessert was a poached pear with cinnamon ice cream, and it was simply delightful. The pear was tender and infused with a gentle spiced sweetness, while the cinnamon ice cream added a warming, seasonal touch. It was the perfect way to finish the meal, especially on a chilly January evening. Situated on the edge of Bath, Bouvardia is easy to get to and benefits from free parking both at the front and back, making it a convenient choice for those driving in. The setting, paired with the high-quality food and welcoming atmosphere, made for a truly memorable evening!

We had a lovely meal at Bouvardia. A great fine dining menu with amazing options to explore new and unique flavours. The service was extremely friendly and super quick. For starters we tried the salmon tartare and beef brisket & smoked mozzarella ravioli. Mains we had the pork tenderloin and pan friend monkfish. All of the dishes were extremely fresh, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into each component of every dish. Would recommend giving it a try and if you’re visiting Bath, you can also stay in their hotel!

We visited here on Saturday evening, the restaurant itself is beautiful, perfect for a special occasion as it’s fine dining. The food was absolutely amazing, we went for the hazelnut crusted venison and the pork tenderloin, both were delicious and cooked perfectly, for sides we had potato dauphinoise, carrots & greens which were really tasty, for dessert we had the chocolate fondant which was warm and gooey 😋 I loved how the menu wasn’t too big but still had a good selection, the staff were so friendly and attentive. 10/10 experience can’t wait to come back.

We had a wonderful dinner last night! The food was overall delicious, with a few standout dishes. The whipped goat cheese starter with white chocolate sugar crumb was so creative definitely a highlight. Also, the honey butter with bread was divine! The ravioli starter was decent but not something we’d rush back for. For mains, I had the chicken supreme. The chicken itself was juicy and perfectly cooked, but the accompaniments on the plate felt a little mismatched. My partner had the pork, which she enjoyed and said was cooked perfectly. The black pudding was a nice touch too; however, she found the red wine just a bit overpowering. For sides, we got the maple carrots and parsnips which were amazing!!! Really nice. We also got the winter greens. The kale was out of this world!! Desserts stole the show! Both the chocolate fondant cake and honey tuile were incredible. So yummy!! The interior of the restaurant is classy, though slightly old-fashioned. The staff were kind and attentive, which added to the experience. However, the atmosphere felt a little flat at times… maybe it would feel more vibrant with more diners. Overall, it’s a spot with great potential, and we’d recommend it to someone looking for a fine dining experience in a relaxed environment right outside the city centre of Bath. The hotel also looks lovely and would be a great place to stay if looking to explore the area around Bath for a weekend!

I had a very beautiful experience here at Bouvardia restaurant ,which is located between Bath and Bristol, away from the chaos of the city. Starting from the very elegant location, it is the best setting for a very fine and romantic dinner. Me and my wife were warmly welcomed at arrival and looked after by the staff for the whole dinner. Regarding the food, each dish had a proper detailed setting , like looking at a painting. I could really see the hard work behind it; the flavours matched perfectly and the quality of the food was stunning. Their best dish? The hazelnut-crusted venison, simply amazing! What a pleasure when you eat well!

Highly recommend - Beautiful location and incredible food. We recently took a trip to Bath to visit Bouvardia restaurant located within Bathen House. We throughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. Every dish we choose had clearly been well thought through and the flavours complimented each other so well. I must highlight the poached pear dessert as the rum sauce with caramelised cinnamon cake, poached pear and cinnamon ice cream was a heavenly combination. Even the ‘simple’ bread and butter was delightful - the sweetness of the honey butter went so well on the organic stone baked sourdough bread and was a nice change to the classic marmite butter and sourdough pairing. Another notable feature of the food was how incredibly fresh it was - especially the salmon. As well as mastering the flavours, the dishes were cooked to perfection. My venison was cooked pink exactly to my liking and the octopus was the best cooking of octopus I’ve ever had. Food aside the service was wonderful and the staff were all so friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend a visit to Bouvardia and I will certainly be looking to return in the future.

An Elegant Evening of Fine Dining at Bouvardia – A Must-Visit in Bath Nestled within the stunning Bathen House, Bouvardia offers an elegant yet relaxed dining experience that truly embodies sophistication. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were captivated by its chic and modern decor. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with an understated elegance that complemented the exquisite culinary journey we were about to embark on. The service was equally exceptional; the waitstaff were attentive, friendly, and accommodating, ensuring our evening was nothing short of perfect. Our dining experience began with still water and a glass of the house red wine as we perused the menu. While we deliberated, we were treated to a complimentary piece of warm sourdough served with honey butter. This seemingly simple offering was a delight—the sourdough was fresh, soft, and perfectly paired with the subtly sweet and creamy butter. Starters I began with the Beef Brisket & Smoked Mozzarella Ravioli, served in a smoked paprika and tomato sauce with crispy onions. The ravioli was a revelation—the brisket was tender and packed with flavor, while the sauce was rich and perfectly seasoned. Every bite was a burst of indulgent flavors, balanced with the crunch of the crispy onions. My partner chose the Smoked Duck Breast, accompanied by blue cheese crème, blackberries, and candied walnuts. Although the duck was served cold, it was wonderfully tender, and the creamy blue cheese provided a decadent contrast to the tartness of the blackberries. The dish’s presentation was impeccable, a true testament to the attention to detail at Bouvardia. Mains For the main course, I opted for the Pan-Fried Monkfish served with octopus, confit garlic purée, and white wine velouté. As a seafood lover, I was thrilled with this dish. The monkfish was cooked to perfection—succulent and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The white wine velouté elevated the flavors, and the octopus added a unique touch to the dish. My partner chose the Hazelnut Crusted Loin of Venison, accompanied by mushroom dust, beetroot cream, and venison jus. This dish was a masterpiece of rich, earthy flavors, with the venison cooked flawlessly. The presentation, again, was stunning, showcasing the chef’s artistry and creativity. Sides We shared the Maple Roasted Parsnips and Heritage Carrots alongside Truffle and Parmesan Fries. Both sides were delightful accompaniments to our mains. The roasted vegetables were caramelized to perfection, while the truffle fries had just the right amount of truffle to enhance their flavor without overwhelming the dish. Desserts To end the meal, I opted for the Selection of Local Cheeses, featuring Bath Blue, Merry Wyfe of Bath, Bath Soft, and Mature Wyfe of Bath cheeses. While the cheeses were delightful—particularly the Bath Blue and Brie-style varieties—the presentation fell slightly short. A rustic wooden board would have elevated the aesthetic and complemented the cheeses better and the layout of crackers and grapes felt over done. My partner chose the Honey Tuile, served with spiced fruit pastille, yogurt foam, and almond praline. He found the dish refreshing, with the spiced fruit adding a unique twist to the overall flavor profile. Overall Experience Bouvardia is a restaurant that delivers on all fronts—exceptional food, outstanding service, and a sophisticated atmosphere. The attention to detail in each dish, from flavor to presentation, was impressive, though there is room for minor improvements, particularly with the cheeseboard presentation. If you are looking for a fine dining experience in Bath that combines bold, well-executed flavors with an elegant setting, Bouvardia should be at the top of your list. This restaurant is a hidden gem, and I highly recommend it for an unforgettable dining experience.

Had an amazing dinner here recently. The quality of each dish was very high, and the menu was interesting, full of flavours and pairings you might not have tried before. Romantic restaurant. Excellent service. Incredible food. Our evening meal at Bouvardia was perfect, the atmosphere was relaxed and romantic, and our server was very attentive. Bread and honey butter – the honey butter was like nothing we had tried before; we loved it! It was so delicious on the sourdough. Starters – my salmon tartare had gorgeous chunks of salmon, with pickled cucumber and a fun sesame cracker on top, this was my kind of starter, very refreshing. My boyfriend had the beef brisket ravioli in a rich tomatoey sauce, he said the brisket was phenomenal. Mains – my venison was incredible, juicy and perfectly cooked, the jus was rich and complimented it so well. My boyfriend had the pork tenderloin, it melted in your mouth and paired well with the black pudding and apple coulis. Sides – we shared sides of truffle and parmesan fries, and buttery winter greens. The fries had the perfect amount of truffle and went well with the jus from our mains. The buttery winter veg was very delicious. Dessert – I had the honey tuille which was presented very beautifully. The foam yoghurt inside was tasty and the crunchy praline was lovely. My boyfriend had the chocolate fondant, they very kindly swapped his ice cream from cherry to chocolate. The fondant was gooey and full of melted chocolate, he really enjoyed his. Thank you Bouvardia restaurant, we cannot wait to return!

It might sound simple, but this little touch set the tone for what was to come—each bite was a promise of the exceptional cuisine that awaited us. Now, let’s talk about the star of the evening: the herb-crusted venison. Cooked to perfection, it was a culinary masterpiece that showcased the chef’s skill and creativity. Each flavour was thoughtfully layered, making it a dish I’ll be dreaming about for weeks. The duck breast was equally impressive, tender and rich, leaving us both in awe of the kitchen’s talent. This gem of a restaurant delivers a Sunday roast experience that is nothing short of exceptional. From the moment you step into the bright and inviting dining room, bathed in soft natural light, you feel right at home. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between cozy and contemporary, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed weekend feast. The star of the show is undoubtedly the roast. The beef, cooked to perfection, is so tender it practically melts in your mouth. Each bite is a celebration of rich, meaty flavors enhanced by a delicate seasoning that lets the quality of the beef shine. Accompanying the main event is a medley of perfectly roasted vegetables—crispy on the outside and fluffy within—alongside golden Yorkshire puddings that are both light and satisfyingly crisp. A silky, deeply flavorful gravy ties it all together, transforming every bite into pure comfort on a plate. Just when you think it couldn't get any better, dessert arrives. The chocolate fondant is a triumph. A slight tap of the spoon reveals a luscious, molten center that flows like liquid gold. Paired with a dollop of velvety dark cherry ice cream, it’s the kind of dessert that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. The service is equally commendable. Chef Greg is a maestro in the kitchen, and his passion for food shines through every dish. Kate, the waitress, adds to the experience with her warm and attentive demeanor. She’s quick with recommendations and makes you feel like a cherished guest. While parking is on the street, it’s manageable and worth the short stroll to this delightful eatery. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place should be at the top of your list for a flawless Sunday roast. Highly recommended!

The best fine dining in Bath! We visited Bouvardia on Saturday night and we were not disappointed! As soon as we walked through the door we were amazed at the incredible decor and atmosphere. The whole place was stunning from the bar area to the dining room. We were greeted on arrival and taken straight to our table. First off, we were given bread for the table accompanied with a smoked butter. The bread was warm, soft, and absolutely delicious! On to our starters, we ordered the smoked duck breast and the beef brisket and smoked mozzarella ravioli, both dishes were perfection! The flavour combinations of the duck with a blue cheese creme and blackberries were fantastic and the ravioli was cooked beautifully. On to the star of the show, for our mains we had the hazelnut crusted Venison. This was by far the best Venison we have EVER had, cooked to perfection and just an explosion on flavours, accompanied by a beetroot cream and a Venison jus, everything on this plate was exquisite. We also had 2 sides of crushed garlic potatoes and Truffle Parmesan Fries, both were incredible. Our final course we had a chocolate fondant. The chocolate was rich and melted in the middle, the black cherry ice-cream was sublime. Overall, this was by far one of the best meals out we have had in Bath! The staff were absolutely wonderful, so attentive and welcoming, you have such a great team here. The food is just outstanding- extremely high quality, impeccable presentation and so tasty! We were so excited to try Bouvardia restaurant at Bathen House Hotel in Bath and we weren't disappointed. On arrival, we found it easy to park in the street across from the hotel. When we arrived into the building we were greeted and our coats were taken. We then moved into the small but charming dining room with views out to the garden fountains. To start we had their homemade bread which were served with smoked butter, one of the breads was a honey and oat wholemeal which was sweet but worked perfectly with the salty butter and the other was a garlic and fennel focaccia which I wasn't sure about as I dont usually like fennel but it was very subtle. For the first course I had the goats cheese mousse which was served with a white chocolate crumb - Ive never had white chocolate and goats cheese together but was surprised by how well it worked! My partner had the beef brisket and smoked mozarella ravioli and said the brisket was very tender and worked well with the crunchy onion ring and light sauce. For my main I had the mushroom wellington which was the only veggie option but was absolutely delicious served with a tangy mushroom ketchup. My partner had the hazelnut crusted venison which was perfectly cooked and the presentation was lovely. We shared buttery seasonal greens and parmesan truffle fries which were both seasoned really well. After yummy starters and mains we had to try dessert so ordered the chocolate fondant which was gooey and rich but not overly sweet. We also got the poached pear served with cinnamon ice cream which was a lovely winter warmer. Overall I'd say that Bouvardia is perfect for a special occasion or a date night and I look forward to my next visit as service was exceptional throughout.

Having lived in and around Bath most of my life and recently moved away we needed to come back to Bath for an event. We found the Bathen House on line and booked a room also booking Sunday lunch in the restaurant. The food was faultless, melt in the mouth beef and the chicken very tender, we had 3 courses of wonderful food and would highly recommend the restaurant. The hotel’s location is just a few minutes drive from the centre of town. The bed was very comfortable and being an ex hoteliers we are super fussy about details and could nor find a single fault, it’s the small things that make the difference like having an electric point near a mirror for the hairdryer, this is something that many hotels fall down on. I would highly recommend Bathen House and the Bouvardia Restaurant and we will definitely be staying here again on any return visits to Bath.

La comida era genial, se veía bien, sabía bien y estaba a la altura de las expectativas, sin embargo, queríamos el menú de cinco platos, pero solo nos dieron tres platos.

A fine dining restaurant with amazing setting. Pristine whites and perfectly laid table is what I loved. I would recommend for you to have the hearty ❤️ Full English Breakfast with one of the best bacon and sausages I have had. The service was amazing 👏. Though the restaurant for dinner only has limited menu as it's a one of its kind. Must visit once for the experience.

Our dinner at Bouvardia Restaurant was spectacular. From the moment we walked in, the luxurious and romantic atmosphere enveloped us, creating the perfect setting for an intimate evening. The quiet ambiance allowed us to fully relax and enjoy each other's company, while the beautifully designed dining room, with its elegant décor, added an extra touch of sophistication to the experience. The food was the true star of the evening. Each dish was a masterpiece, both in appearance and taste. The high-quality ingredients were evident in every bite, with flavours that were fresh, refined, and perfectly balanced. The presentation of each course was as artistic as it was appetizing, showcasing the chef’s attention to detail and creativity. Every plate was a feast for the eyes before it became a delight for the palate. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, offering thoughtful recommendations and ensuring that everything was timed to perfection. Their professionalism and warmth made us feel truly cared for throughout the meal. For anyone looking for a fine dining experience in Bath, Bouvardia is an absolute must. It’s the perfect place for a special evening, where culinary excellence meets a luxurious, romantic atmosphere.

Excelente restaurante de alta cocina. Gran servicio con una sonrisa. Llamé para preguntar sobre vegetariano y el chef me ofreció un wellington de hongos para principal que estaba delicioso. Disfrutamos de cada plato del menú de 5 platos.

Absolutely unique place with unique food. I can't decide if it's a bad thing or a good thing that it's a bit hidden, because on the one hand it makes it a bit more unique but on the other hand it's a shame to hide something so fantastic.

My granddaughter and I stayed Tuesday night. We were served by Kate who went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after in every way. The food was exceptional, I am surprised they do not have a Michelin star. I would strongly recommend eating here.

Absolutely delicious food - we had a 5 course dinner and a wine flight, definitely a meal to remember! Perfect for a special occasion as the restaurant atmosphere is very intimate (with only about 10 tables). We felt very looked after by the staff and would definitely come back next time we're in Bath. Highly recommend this place!

A hidden gem in Bath. The food was exceptional and good value for money. The service, too, was excellent though the young waiter could learn to smile a little (probably just nervous/introverted).

The service was excellent. All the staff have been very accomodative in serving us things not on menu. We still have our jetlag and didnt finish some of the food. They were so kind to offer to change something else for us when they didnt need to. Absolutely the best service we had in England

To be honest, the gap between food performance and high ratings is huge. Desserts are especially average.

Starters and main really nice, dessert unfortunately quite average. Service was okay. No atmosphere however we were the only people in the restaurant. The downer was receiving the bill and having £20+ tax added on as well as the service charge. Would have been more reasonable if it wasn't for these.

We were very disappointed in our dinner and differ from other reviewers’ comments. Both of our entrées (steak and trout) were rather bland and lacking in basic seasoning. Even the accompanying sides all sort of melded together and were one note and not remarkable at all. The steak in particular was asked for medium rare and came back well done. Since we were staying at the hotel, we had our breakfasts there and these were in fact wonderful compared to our dinner. Service was very nice though.

What a lovely venue it is. A bit far from the town centre, however is not hard to get there. Is actually worth it price and to sit in such beautiful bright surroundings. What impressed us was that, Chef Greg came over to serve us the desserts. Kasia is also a fantastic, knowledgeable and smiling person. Thank you very much! I will never find similar buildings in America,

Found this little gem on the internet and menu looked delicious. It is just outside of Bath city centre and has plenty of parking. It is housed within Bathen House hotel. On arrival a very polite and helpful lady showed us to our table and presented the menus. Drinks and food were served promptly and with the same professionalism that I have observed in Michelin starred establishments. The food was more delicious than it sounded on the menu. My wife commented that it was the best food she has had for quite some time. When the bill was presented, I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was. Will definitely be back again soon. Thanks

I was very lucky to stumble across this lil gem in the very heart of Bath. Super atmospheric and the choice of wine by glass is excellent! And thanks to lovely Anetta I ordered a baked camembert with honey and boy that was a perfect dish for a cold rainy lunch! Will be back and definitely recommend
