Lovely place we visited while in Bath. Booked ahead based on reviews. Place is smaller but I have come to realize that is just Europe! The person seating us placed us in the window seat on a rainy night and it was amazing. Good atmosphere and food. I don't know where else we would have eaten since most shops close a bit early for American standards.

I took my daughter out for a birthday dinner and we both really enjoyed excellent food with great service. We had to change our booking time and the staff were very accommodating. They also acknowledged the birthday occasion with a free glass of Prosecco each. Unlike some restaurants in Bath, I didn't feel ripped off. Also, we really liked the atmosphere and the clean and well presented decor. Highly recommended!

The staff were very friendly and accomodating of dietary restrictions. The wines were excellent as was the food. My smoked chicken salad and fried polenta were so tasty and just the right portion size. My partner had poached pear salad and venison, then we shared chocolate cremeux for dessert. Probably the best dinner we had in Bath over the week. I can't wait to go back!

Could not have chosen a better restaurant for a two night stay in beautiful Bath. I specifically wanted a well located small, family-run cosy place and this fitted the bill completely and went far and beyond expectations. The food was exquisite and the service absolutely superb - very warm and friendly; the staff were attentive without being overbearing. We decided we liked it so much that before we had finished eating, we had already booked a table for our second night. Again, we were not disappointed and ended up choosing the Chateaubriand - it was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this gem of a place and will most definitely be booking again when we next visit.

Four of us ate lunch here. It was generally very acceptable. The atmosphere was good and the service reasonable, though not perfect. Surely once your order has been taken at a restaurant at this level, the correct plate should be served to the correct guest without having to ask again? Many good, and even chain, restaurants’ systems now automatically assign each item to a specific seat/guest, allowing individual or any combination of billing and correct serving. I commend them for listening to the advance notice of my food intolerances and for having prepared a version of the menu for me, with all the unsuitable choices crossed out. I would have been still more impressed if they had actually prepared and sauce I could have, or were prepared to do so. I would also have liked a better choice of zero (or low) alcohol drinks; they only had one Italian lager. Why not a zero cider, say? I really liked my woodpigeon hors d’oeuvres. My partner thought her pear and cheese starter lacked much pear or cheese, being mostly chicory leaves. She preferred her venison main. I quite enjoyed the same dish, but without a sauce it was underwhelming. Our guests appeared to enjoy their baked cod on lentils very much and the three who had desserts said they were nice, if not exceptional. Glasses of wine were enjoyed by the two people who had one. I stumbled over the entrance door step, this could be improved with a small ramp, say. I think the other 3 diners would give 5 stars, but for me it doesn’t quite get there at this price. Cost, including an automatically added 12.5% tip, was a little over £170.

A brilliant place to share our wedding anniversary. Welcomed with a glass of champagne - what a great start. The food was of uniform excellence from start to finish. The wood pigeon starter with hazelnuts and green leaves was excellently prepared. Onglet steak was cooked to perfection. But the highlight of the meal was the rum and raisin clafoutis. A bit of a wait (warning on the menu) and the result warranted the delay. After a really wet Thursday, a brilliant way to celebrate all those years together.

Lovely food, I would definitely return again. Superb service, really attentive staff. Had watermelon and feta starter which was amazing and shared the Chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection and tasted heavenly. I would say the only negative thing to add was that they allow for smoking outside, someone was smoking a big cigar and the smell came through the restaurant, so they had to close the door, making the restaurant very, very hot. I would maybe advise to not allow for smoking on the tables outside, cause that definitely ruined the experience ABIT for me.

A lovely French restaurant, located in a lovely area of Bath. Food was tasty (the risotto and cod were particular standouts), and cocktails were delicious. 4 of us ate together as a celebration, but felt it to be slightly overpriced for what it was. Service was friendly but not exceptional, and the cheeseboards (desert) felt lower end. That said, the vibe is lovely, and they catered well for our dietary requirements (including adapting the menu for a vegan).

We had very high hopes for our dinner at Chez Dominique considering the amazing reviews. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our meal. The setting is beautfiful and cosy but the food was bland and very expensive. The risotto in particular, advertised as being served with burrata was served almost cold, was very watery and bland. I asked whether the buratta had been missed out by mistake but was told that it was blended in the risotto, which I couldn't taste and was expecting to see on top of the dish. This was a £19 dish for £2 of raw ingredients at most. The starter, broccoli served with torched ricotta was boiled/steamed broccoli stems with a light bed of ricotta and a few almond shavings. Again, very disappointing and very far from the raving reviews we read before booking. I can only assume the regular chef/team was not in tonight. 2 starters, two mains and one small glass of wine for £90. I unfortunately cannot recommend.

Having a short break in Bath, made a reservation at Chez Dominique and am thoroughly pleased I did. It's a bistro-style restaurant, with a small-ish but interesting menu. We had 'soused mackeral' and an 'asparagus and mint soup' for starters - both very good, but the soup was the winner. Mains were 'chicken breast on a rich tomato base' and 'pork chop with broad-bean and pea fagiola'. Again, both excellent - I had the pork and can say it was superbly cooked, tender, well seasoned and decent sized (it was big). They also have a well thought-through wine list. Service was impeccable - really pleasant young ladies in front of house when we were there, and although I didn't see them, the cooking crew are clearly accomplished. Oh yes, nearly forgot...the bread and salted butter were amazing!! Well done to all at Chez Dominique...I'll be back the next time I'm in Bath!

Then had the veal t bone which was cooked to perfection, clearly left to rest and the meat was so tender. Simple tomato butter and new potatoes which was clean and super fresh. A cosy little restaurant (no doubt they would call themselves a Bistro!) with a super range of food on the menu. On our visit the service was attentive, the food excellent, and the ambience very appeling. Highly recommended but booking essential as the number of covers is limited. Also, the bistro is smallish, so it can get very noisy as people talk louder and louder to make themselves heard as the space fills up! That small drawback aside, as I say, it comes highly recommended.

This was a lovely meal in a cozy restaurant on the Pulteney Bridge in Bath. Wait staff were attentive and pleasant. Even though I was a party of one, they did not seat me in a dark corner with no view as is often the case, nor did they try to rush me off on a busy night. The reviews online are quite complimentary as they should be. The menu offers plenty of variety but on this cold, rainy night I selected the Onglet steak and pommes frites with a glass of wine. I chose the tongue with kimchi (fantastic flavours) followed by the skirt steak and chips (beautifully cooked) with the final course the chocolate stout cake (again outstanding). Every dish was outstanding, really great combinations served and prepared to perfection. Mackerel special was out of this world, but so were the other dishes - trout and tongue starters, mackerel and sea bass mains, the cheese (we had all 3) for dessert. I was pleasantly surprised to come across this little gem! I wanted to take my wife out for a nice dinner but wanted to find something a little different and stumbled on "Chez Dominique" by Googling the best places to eat in Bath. The restaurant décor is cosy, the staff were all friendly and helpful and the food was nicely presented and very tasty. On top of all that, it was reasonably priced too. My wife and I both had 3 courses from the lunch menu and can highly recommend the "Duck rillettes, Asian salad, sesame & soy dressing" and "Sauté scallops, chorizo, saffron aioli, chickpea stew" from the starters. We both enjoyed the "Onglet steak, Café de Paris butter, pommes frites" for our main course, as this came highly recommended by diners on Google reviews. We finished off with a "Toasted oat panna cotta, pear purée, candied peel biscuit" and a "Chocolate & stout cake, stem ginger Chantilly cream, candied walnuts" for dessert all of which were delicious! We will definitely be returning!

Started well but ended flat. Soup was lovely but the steaks were a bit of a travesty. My wife had hers well done which is indeed a crime but due to medical reasons was needed, sadly it was as tough as you could imagine. Mine was blue but it was more like a boiled steak. Rare in the middle but no sear. Sides were nice but kind of spoiled the whole meal. Only one option for a carafe of red which was the cheapest option. But the bottle of wine ordered was very tasty. Overall. Nice but just lacking distinction. For a French restaurant I’d ditch the Asian fusion attempts and stick to the classic which are known and loved Service was lovely and appreciated

The location (30 yards from Pulteney Bridge), staff service and atmosphere are all reasons to visit whilst in Bath. The food was of a good standard: garlic olives as an appetiser, starters of sauteed scallops with chorizo and chickpea stew and a smoked mackerel pate; main courses consisting of steamed trout with crispy noodles, and roasted chicken with chorizo alongside an additional extra of green beans cooked with almonds. Our bill came to a little over £107 which included one small beer, a 250ml glass of red wine plus a table water. A 12.5% discretionary service charge is included within the bill. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, and the food was served quickly although it was not piping hot when reaching the table. I thought the bill was a little on the high side, but it was certainly a pleasurable enough dining experience.

Our second visit and Chez Dominique was brilliant again. Exquisite plates, thoughtful ingredients and provenance, caring service, delightful location. All without pomp or pretence. 100%.

Impeccable service, high quality food. The selection was not too broad but it’s ok for a French restaurant. Deliciously fresh meal!

Amazing time at Chez Dominique. The best steak I have had all year, perfect flavours and a fantastic texture. Must order the onglet steak if you're here. Plus it was inexpensive at only a fraction of the price of some expensive steak houses. The tagliatelle was also out of this world and filled with gorgeous flavours. Highly recommend this Parisian resturant for any occasion (10/10).

They went out of their way when we messed up a booking . Luckily they’d had a cancellation at the last minute and managed to accommodate us . They were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Good great and very tasty. The man in charge very knowledgeable. I’d go again in a heartbeat Xx

An epicurean delight from start to finish. Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, and great wine. Imaginative, tasty, and well presented food. The dessert was an absolute showstopper. The perfect evening. Can’t wait for the retour.

Wonderful welcome from Rafa, superb knowledge of the cheeses we had and the champagne was delicious with the cheese. Special occasion and this fabulous restaurant fitted the occasion. Will most certainly be making a return soon. Thankyou Rafa and co x

Incredibly poor service, seemingly allow people to barge past and be seated before others

It was a fantastic experience! The ambiance was cozy and inviting. I ordered the traditional English breakfast, which was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The eggs were fluffy, and the toast was fresh and warm. The coffee was rich and smooth, a great way to start the day. The staff was attentive and friendly, making sure everything was perfect. If you’re in Bath, I highly recommend starting your day here – a delicious breakfast

We originally thought this was a French Brasserie, but found this was not really the case. It is attached to the Royal Hotel in Bath, it you don’t have to be a resident to book a table here. However, the menu had much to our liking and didn’t disappoint. The starters we had were very tasty, lentil and bacon soup with chestnuts for hubby , and smoked mackerel pate for me with a nice variety of bread provided by the lovely waitress , who was managing every table on her own.very admirably. For mains hubby had chicken mixed grill and I had a rare sirloin, both with chunky chips, everything cooked perfectly. Although we were offered a sweet menu neither of us could take advantage of sampling the offerings. A very reasonable restaurant which we would certainly recommend eating at
