Bengal Brasserie in Bath stands out for its exceptional Indian cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. Even when we arrived near closing time, the staff graciously served us, enhancing our dining experience with their attentive service. The menu boasts a variety of traditional dishes, I chose the vegetarian platter (don't remember the full name) and it was fantastic! A dream for the eyes and taste buds! I've eaten many times Indian food but NO RESTAURANTS reached this level of enjoyment. Also, the ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for any dining occasion, If One Thousand and One Night is a restaurant, definitely Bengal Brasserie reached to capture that image. Overall, Bengal Brasserie is a top choice for those seeking authentic Indian flavors in Bath.

My Korma had a skin on the top like school dinner hall gravy. Eating it on cold plates the taste was ok but was soon lukewarm then cold. My partner said hers was cold too. The tikka meat was cold. I am used to freshly cooked curries and warmers / hot plates. I expressed my opinion politely to the staff ( 10 minutes to get attention). Very dismissive considering the politeness of my approach and took £20 off the bill when I turned down microwave warm up of the food. I would rather he had offered a fresh portion. I will not return and do not recommend unless you like poor service and cold curries.

The first waiter could not recommend a dish which would be from Bengal, he said it was all Indian anyway. Very blend, tasteless food. Even simple things such as the raita were not freshly made. The fish was.especially poor, probably deep frozen. Would not recommend the place.

Food was bland. Paneer seemed to be rotten and the worst I have ever eaten in a restuarant. Parantha was so thick that i had to separate it into layers to it. Because of being over thick, while the outer surface was over cooked, the inside part was absolutely uncooked. The owner/manager was really nice and spoke nicely to us the entire time. Once the food was served, servers disappeared. we had to keep on looking for the waiters or servers and call them from the kitchen to ask for anything we needed. One of the waiters today was very rude and disrespectful - we requested him to click a picture of us. He clicked 2 blur photos without us getting ready. I said to him sorry I was not ready and when I saw the photo he clicked was blur too, I requested him if he can click another one. While entirely ignoring me, he asked for the extra tip for clicking the photo from my uncle. My uncle smiled and give him a new pen as a souvnier that he keeps in bunch for gifting purposes. He made a face expressing it's not that he wanted and did a gesture with his hand that he needs money. My uncle jokingly ignored his act. He then put the pen on the table and when I requested him to click the photo again, he outrightly said no and didn't come even once on our table after that. No doubt why the whole restaurant was empty. The decor was nice and cute. I don't usually give such detailed review but I had one of the worst experiences which require awareness for fellow eaters. Also yes the restuarant is expensive for no reason.

Visited the other day with my girlfriend and once again had a lovely meal, great service and just a lovely experience. I think we came here as a family right after it first opened and it says something for a business that has lasted this long in a city like Bath. This is a firm favourite that we return to time and again when we want an Indian feast. We’re due to go there again tonight and my tummy is rumbling in anticipation! It’s cosy, a little idiosyncratic with dishes being wheeled out to diners on a trolley, and we love the little booths! The food is always consistently flavourful and of great quality. Service is prompt and polite.

The food taste and quality was not upto the expected standards. We had a full course dinner after a long day of travel, and we tried multiple dishes. The chicken was chewy, starter quantity was on lower side, biriyanis were same rice tossed with chicken/prawn/veggies and the taste reminded nothing of a Bengali/Indian cuisine. One star only for the Naan bread which was soft, rest everything was tasteless and bland. The service was comparatively slow. Lastly on the price point, the food certainly did not match the bill of £160 either (group of 2 small families). I definitely would not recommend this restaurant!

Visited for the first time on a Friday evening with a friend and my 11 year old daughter. Small cosy setting with friendly attentive staff. We really enjoyed our food, which was good quality no fuss Indian cuisine. The Bengal is not a contemporary fine dining style restaurant like many that are popping up in the city and the prices reflect that. It’s also worth noting that whilst they offer a takeaway service this did not interfere with the dining area (eg. No delivery drivers pushing past the tables) We will definitely be returning.

A rare trip to the city of my birth, and a good excuse to tuck into a curry with mates too. This place is a bit tricky to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for, but it’s worth the effort. Definitely worth booking – particularly on a Saturday night after a game – and it was a lovely way to catch up with friends. The restaurant isn’t enormous – we were squeezing between chairs a bit – but the cramped underground location definitely adds to the ambience rather than detracting here. Food was pretty decent too – my eyes were bigger than my stomach on this occasion, but 5 of the 6 of us were pretty happy with our meals. And the other guy ordered the wrong thing (his fault), but swapped with someone else. Service was pretty good too and – for the six of us with alcohol – we came in under £30 a head. Not bad for a night out in central Bath!

I’ve been having curries for 40 years. It’s always tricky going to a new place for a curry, it’s hard to find a good one. This one unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this one. Food is definitely average at best. I would say they can probably get away with with it in Bath. But if was compared to say the food quality of a place like Southall it would close down pretty quick. The bill was £54 I would say £10 each would be more suitable.

The dishes were full of flavour & the waiter suggested that for 2 people we had ordered too much. This was great as it made us rethink our choices. The staff were friendly and easy to interact with. The staff are friendly and helpful and the curry was very nice and it was reasonably priced. The only one thing was that there were no 'warmers' so my biryani rice went cold quite quickly as I don't like to pile it all on the plate at once. We originally thought this was a French Brasserie, but found this was not really the case. It is attached to the Royal Hotel in Bath, it you don’t have to be a resident to book a table here. However, the menu had much to our liking and didn’t disappoint. The starters we had were very tasty, lentil and bacon soup with chestnuts for hubby , and smoked mackerel pate for me with a nice variety of bread provided by the lovely waitress , who was managing every table on her own.very admirably. For mains hubby had chicken mixed grill and I had a rare sirloin, both with chunky chips, everything cooked perfectly. Although we were offered a sweet menu neither of us could take advantage of sampling the offerings. A very reasonable restaurant which we would certainly recommend eating at
